EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED ON INCLINE. CAR WAS RUNNING, IN NEUTRAL (5 SPEED) FOR UP TO 10 MINUTES BEFORE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL. UNFORTUNATELY, IT ROLLED INTO THE LAKE. I WAS TOWING A JETSKI, AND RETRIEVING IT FROM THE BOAT RAMP. *AK
STEERING RESPONSE APPEARS NON-LINEAR AROUND CENTER, VEHICLE WONDERS LATERALLY AND IS GETTING WORSE. *AK
CONSUMER'S 4- YEAR OLD CHILD WAS ABLE TO PULL SHOULDER STRAP AROUND HIS HEAD AND NECK TWICE. WHEN THE CHILD LET THE STRAP GO IT LOCKED UP, PULLING CHILD UP TO THE WINDOW AND CHOKING HIM, ALMOST TO DEATH. CHILD DID SURVIVE THE INCIDENT. *AK
CONSUMER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AND ANOTHER VEHICLE MERGED INTO HIS LANE. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE DIDN'T SEE OTHER VEHICLE, AND FORCED HIM TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE VEERED OFF ON THE SHOULDER, AND DRIVER'S AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
A BANGING NOISE AND A VIBRATION ARE EXPERIENCED WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED. IT HAPPENS IN EVERY NEW HONDA ACCORD LX 1999 AND 2000 YEAR CAR AS THE DEALER LET ME TESTED THESE CARS IN STOCK. IT IS NOT ONLY UNCOMFORTABLE BUT ALSO DANGEROUS BECAUSE NOISE AND VIBRATION LOOSES SCREWS AND CONNECTIONS FOR THE LONG RUN. IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED, SOME CONNECTIONS MAY DROP AND CAUSE ACCIDENTS.*AK
REAR SEAT BELT WON'T RETRACT, AND THE CONSUMER CAN'T USE THE REAR SEAT BELT. *AK
THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR SHAKES A LOT WHEN AT SPEED (60-70MPH, IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OTHER VEHICLES SINCE THE VIBRATION IS QUITE STRONG. DEALER IGNORED THE PROBLEM AS BEING, "A NEW CAR". FUEL GAUGE IS QUITE INNACURATE AS WELL.
LEFT TURN SIGNAL INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO CANCEL. VISUAL DISTORTION IN WINDSHIELD
THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE SEAT HAS ABOUT A HALF-INCH OF VERTICAL SLACK IN IT. (YOU CAN MOVE THE LEFT-FRONT CORNER UP THAT MUCH WITH YOUR HAND.) THIS ALLOWS THE SEAT TO ROCK BACK (IN A ROCKING MOTION) WHEN PUSHING AGAINST THE SEAT BACK. THIS HAPPENS WHEN GETTING IN THE CAR, CHANGING POSITIONS IN THE SEAT, AND EVEN UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAT TRACK UNDER WARRANTY. THAT DIDN'T SOLVE IT. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. IT STARTED AS SOON AS WE GOT THE CAR (PURCHASED NEW) AND IT'S NEVER STOPPED. *JB
AIR BAG LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE IS BLINKING. *TR
REAR DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEATBELTS TIGHTEN TOO HARD WHICH CAUSES THE OCCUPANTS TO CHOKE AND RELEASE THE BUCKLE. THEY ARE UNABLE TO WEAR THE REAR SEATBELTS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CAR PAUSES THAT SURGES FORWARD WILE DRIVING ESP AT LOWER SPEEDS DUE TO DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *AK
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS DEFECTIVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES AROUND A CORNER THE PASSENGER BUCKLE COMES LOOSE. *AK

TURN SIGNAL FAILS TO SELF CANCEL ON LEFT TURNS SOMETIMES, DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL: UNIBODY SO OUT OF ALIGNMENT THAT DOORS (4) DO NOT FIT PROPERLY, WIND AND ROAD NOISE PRESENT CONSTANTLY, DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CONTACTED TWICE, MORE DAMAGE DONE TO VEHICLE BY DEALER ATTEMPTING REPAIRS. *AK
RIGHT FRONT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING INJURY TO PASSENGER WHEN PIECES OF GLASS LODGED IN FACE, DAMAGE TO VEHICLE FOLLOWING, REPLACEMENT OF WINDSHIELD NECESSARY. MJS
TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGITION AND ALL ACCESSORIES ARE STILL ON.CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. *AK
WHEN BEGINNING TO BRAKE GOING DOWN HILL, BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP IN TIME, DRIVER REAR ENDED A STANDING VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ON A DRY ROAD SURFACE. *AK *ML
BRAKES CONTINUALLY FAIL WHEN FIRST APPLIED, NECESSARY TO REAPPLY TO STOP VEHICLE, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES. MJS
VERN BUCANNAN HONDA NOTIFIED OF PROBLEM / NO SATISFACTION
THE REAR-COMPUTERIZED MOTOR MOUNT ON MY HONDA IS DEFECTIVE ACCORDING TO HONDA. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE 1998 AND 1999 ACCORDS, HOWEVER, THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR TWO HOURS OR MORE, OR WHILE ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE SHIFTS AND THE REAR MOUNT COLLAPSES ENOUGH TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE STOPPER ON THE BODY OF THE CAR. THIS RESULTS IN A LOUD THUNK AT START UP AND, WHILE DRIVING, A LOUD THUD AND I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A WEIRD FEELING IN MY STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE IN TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL HONDA CORP. AUTHORIZES A RECALL OR A SPECIFIC FIX FOR MY CAR. I AM CURRENLY IN CONTACT WITH THEIR ZONE OFFIC IN TORRANCE CALIFORNIA. THE CASE NUMBER FOR MY CAR IS 98-12-23-00001 AND THEIR PHONE NUMBER IS 800-999-1009.
CONSUMER WAS BACKING UP HIS CAR HE NOTICED THAT A PUDDLE THAT WAS ORANGE IN COLOR COMMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE TOOK HIS CAR TO THE DEALER ON NOV 23, 1998, THE DEALER STATED THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE A MECHANICAL BEARING SOUND COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I WAS TOLD THIS WILL ENABLE A VEHICLE TO RUN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE IF FALLING ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. I DO NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE. THE COMPANY WAS NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THAT ALL THE NEW VEHICLES HAVE A PULL OR DRIFT. THE GMC ALSO DRIVEN THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED MY COMPLAINT. THAT WAS WHEN HE MENTIONED THAT STATEMENT TO ME. SO 3 MONTHS LATER I'M IN A LEASE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED AND THERE WAS NOT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE TO PLACE ME IN. I'M NOT REALLY HAVING A CHOICE. I ENDED UP GETTING A VEHICLE THAT I REALLY DIDN'T WANT. HAVING A 1996 ACCORD VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH PULLING OR ANYTHING. I AM SO SORRY I TRADED MY VEHICLE IN. SINCE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO GIVE ME MY VEHICLE BACK I AM NOW IN A VERY UNFORTUNATE SITUATION.

FAX PETITION FOR NHTSA TO REOPEN ITS INVESTIGATION INTO THE IGNITION INTERLOCK DEFECTS ON 1999-2001 HONDA ACCORDS PURSUANT TO 49 CFR 552.4 WHILE PARKED THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED DAMAGE TOT HE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER LATER ISSUED A RECALL. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. PROBLEMS WITH THE 1999 HONDA ACCORD REAR SEAT BELTS.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR DUE TO MANUFACTURER DESIGN, THE REAR SEAT BELTS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE AND CHOKE PASSENGERS SEATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. *TT *NM
1999 HONDA ACCORD STALLING IN ALL SITUATIONS. CUSTOMER STATES THAT HE HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT THE VEHICLE IS STILL STALLING OUT. *KB THE DEALER ASKED THE CONSUME HAD THE BATTERY BEEN REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY THE PCM COMPUTER LOST SOME OF ITS PARAMETERS WHEN THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THAT THE SOFTWARE WOULD HAVE TO DOWNLOADED BACK INTO THE ONBOARD COMPUTER. *JB
1999 HONDA ACCORD STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE COMBINATION SWITCH WHICH WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. CONSUMER BELIEVES THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *KB
I FEEL THERE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SEAT BELTS. WHEN YOU PUT THEM ON, THEY LOCK TIGHT AROUND YOUR NECK AND YOU CAN NOT LOOSEN THEM UNLESS YOU UNHOOK THEM AND LET THE BELT GO ALL THE WAY BACK. I WENT TO THE DEALER TODAY TO SEE IF THIS WAS A DEFECT AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE SUPOSED TO DO. IF THESE BELTS DO NOT GIVE DURING A COLLISION, THEY WILL BREAK YOUR NECK OR CHOKE YOU TO DEATH. PLEASE ADVISE. I THOUGHT SEAT BELTS WERE MENT TO BE ADJUSTABLE.
WINDSHIELD HAS DISTORTIONS. THERE ARE VERTICAL LINES OF DISTORTION THAT ARE MOST APPARENT WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AT AN ANGLE (I.E. SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND LOOKING THROUGH PASSENGER'S SIDE OF WINDSHIELD.) THIS IS MOST DISTRACTING WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. IT APPEARS THAT SOMETHING IS MOVING IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHICH ISN'T, BUT IT ALSO DISTORTS THINGS THAT ARE THERE. DEALER SAYS THIS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAVE SEEN IT IN OTHER CARS, BUT THEY WILL NOT CONSIDER FIXING.
I AM HAVING A HARD TIME SECURING MY CHILD SEAT IN THE MIDDLE POSITION REAR SEAT. IT DOESN'T HAVE A LOCK ON THE 3 POINT BELT . I USED THE HARNESS RETAINER THAT CAME WITH THE CENTURY CAR SEAT WHICH HELPS, BUT I FEEL THE SEAT SHOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL ACCORDING TO THE PARENTS MAG ARTICLE I READ. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO SECURE THIS SEAT ANY BETTER??? THANKS. *AK
THE SPEEDOMETER READS A LITTLE OVER 8 PERCENT HIGHER THAN THE ACTUAL SPEED THAT IS BEING TRAVELED. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL FOR VEHICLE TO BE AT LEAST 10 PERCENT FASTER THAN WHAT THE SPEEDOMETER READS. *AK

WHEN VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE AND THEN STARTED UP, VEHICLE MADE A POPPING NOISE. DEALER SAID THAT THE ENGINE HAD A SLIGHT MISSFIRE, OTHERWISE WAS NORMAL. *AK

VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN STRUCK FROM THE REAR. IT BEGAN TO ROLL AT 100 YARDS, AND PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A POLE WHILE STILL IN PARK. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK

THE MIDDLE OF THE HOOD HAS FOUR SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT IS CRACKING. DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS SECONDARY TO BIRD DROPPINGS AND WILL NOT BE FIXED. DEALER STATES THAT DESPITE THE CAR WHETHER A BMW OR HONDA THAT NO MANUFACTURER WILL BACK UP THEIR PAINT JOB. DEALER STATES THAT THE "SHOULDN'T" RUST THROUGH.

BROUGHT CAR HOME FROM DEALER AFTER 1ST OIL CNANGE. A FEW MINUTES LATER WE DISCOVERED THE GARAGE FILLED WITH SMOKE. (OILFILTER DRIPS ONTO EXHAUST PIPE. SEEODI ID 710860) DEALER NOTIFIED. ADVISED TO DRIVE CAR FOR 5 TO 10 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE. (WELIVE ABOUT 8 MILES FROM DEALER.) *AK
MECHANICAL ENGINE LIFTERS WERE BADLY DAMAGED. ENGINE KEPT MAKING A TAPPING SOUND. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT MAY NOT RETRACT IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU EXIT THE CAR. IF IT DOESN'T, IT WILL RETRACT, BUT WILL GET CAUGHT ON THE POWER SEAT CONTROLS. WHEN IT RETRACTS, IT PULLS THE SEAT RECLINE LEVER AND CAUSES THE SEAT BACK TO RECLINE UNTIL IT CANNOT DO SO BECAUSE IT IS STOPPED BY THE REAR SEAT. ONE TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS OUT OF THE CAR FOR FIVE MINUTES AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN, I COULD SMELL THE POWER SEAT MOTOR BURNING - THE SEAT BELT WAS FORCING THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO RECLINE. IF ONE OF MY KIDS WERE IN THE BACK SEAT, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN PINNED AND COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE (EXCEPT FOR SOME TYPE OF GUARD OVER THE POWER SEAT CONTROLS). I THINK THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW - NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. ITS A GREAT CAR OTHER THAN THIS STRANGE PROBLEM. *AK

THE VEHICLE HESITATES PAUSED AND THEN SURGES DUE TO DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. YH
FUEL GAUGE INCORRECTLY REGISTERS AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK. EVEN WHEN FILLED, GAUGE REGISTERS NO MORE THAN 3/4 FULL. OCCASIONALLY REGISTERS FULL IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLUP, BUT SOON DROPS TO 3/4 OR LESS. *AK
