TAKATA RECALL POWER STEERING LEAK
INFORMED KOLBE HONDA THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING BACK ON 9/2/2004 AND AGAIN ON 11/9/2010. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TRANSMISSION. I HAVE PAPERWORK STATING THE DATES AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION. THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TRANSMISSION. AT THIS TIME, MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON 3/7/2013. IS WHEN I ALMOST DIED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR JUST SLOWED DOWN TO A CRAWL IN THE MIDDLE LANE WHILE CARS WERE DRIVING 60-65 MILES PER HOUR. I THOUGHT MY LIFE WAS OVER AT THIS TIME. I WAS ABLE TO GET ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAS IN SHOCK. I TELEPHONED MY HUSBAND TO COME TO MY RESCUE, THEN WE CRAWLED THE CAR INTO HONDA. AFTER BRINGING MY CAR BACK TWO DIFFERENT TIMES TO SEE WHY THE CAR WAS STILL NOT RUNNING, THE SECOND TIME HONDA TOLD ME THAT I NEED A TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED A REBUILT TRANSMISSION FOR $3051.00, AS HONDA DID NOTHING TO HELP ME OUT. MY CAR HAS BEEN IMPECCABLY MAINTAINED. I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE FOR HONDA NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ME COMPLAINING ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPING FROM 2004. I OFTEN HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN IN MY CAR AND WAS THANKFUL THAT I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR THIS DAY. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA TOTALLY IGNORED ME AND PROBABLY A LOT MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY, I STILL FEAR DRIVING MY CAR ON THE FREEWAYS AND I STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE ONLY IN THE EVENT THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND FEEL THAT I WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. THERE IS NO REASON WHY I HAD TO SPEND $3051.00 TO PUT A TRANSMISSION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY HONDA. I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME INFORMATION BACK. I AM STILL USING MY CAR AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE GEARS ARE SLIPPING, AND IT LAGS AND JERKS WHEN IT DOES SHIFT. *JS
THE RADIO COMES ON WITHOUT A KEY AND ABRUPTLY TURNS OFF WHEN DRIVING. THE CAR APPEARS ON WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE VEHICLE AND I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY PROMPT SOMEONE TO STEAL THE CAR. IT ALSO DRAINS THE BATTERY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND CALLED HONDA. HONDA SWEARS THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS SUBMITTED THIS ISSUE. MY REF NUMBER FOR MY COMPLAINT IS N012013-02-2600454. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THEY DON'T ISSUE A RECALL. 2003 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REPAIRS AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR, THE TIMING BELT, SERPENTINE BELT, WATER PUMP, TRANSMISSION, HEATER VALVE, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, POWER STEERING PUMP, DASH AND STEERING LINKS WERE ALL REPLACED.
HONDA HAD A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING HOSE BUT BY THE TIME THEY CONTACTED ME TO GO IN MY POWER STEERING PUMP STARTED MAKING SEVERE NOISE. NOW NO ONE WILL COVER IT. *TR
HONDA ACCORD 2003 POWER STEERING HOSE RECALL. WENT TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BOTH POWER STEERING HOSE AND PUMP ARE LEAKING. THE RECALL COVERS HOSE BUT WAS CHARGED $600 FOR THE PUMP REPLACEMENT. I NOTICED SMOKE OR BURNT SMELL YESTERDAY. *TR
HONDA RECALLED TRANSMISSION'S ON 2004, I TOOK MY ACCORD 2003 AND THEY JUST MAKE UP MY TRANSMISSION WITH OIL, BUT KNOWINGLY THAT THIS TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL, SO I REALLY THINK THAT IN REALITY THERE WAS NOT FIX.... NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS ALREADY SET TO FAILURE.... *TR

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning matter regarding my experience with the American Honda Motor Company. As a loyal consumer and a law-abiding citizen, I believe it is crucial to address issues that impact consumers and the general public. Since 2013, I have been trying to resolve a critical issue with my brand-new Honda Accord car I bought from Honda. Unfortunately, American Honda company didn’t resolve the issue that affected my car and hundreds of thousands of the same cars’ owners that they sold in NJ and in 22 salt belt states. My argument with the American Honda company is that they have a major design issue with their front left and right axles for Honda Accord cars that have been manufactured since 2003.
MY FIRST AND SECOUND GEAR GET HOT AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE AND CAR POWER JERKS AND THRU MY DRINK A COUPLE OF TIME OUT OF MY HAND. *TR
NHTSA NEEDS TO HAVE HONDA ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL 2003 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSIONS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION IN GEARS 1-4. WHEN DRIVING MY ACCORD YOU CAN FEEL IT AT 35MPH WHERE THE GEARS 1-4 SLIPS OR RACES. MY CAR HAS 133K MILES AND IS IN MINT CONDITION AND NOW I HAVE TO PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION AT THE COST OF $3,700.00 FOR A REBUILT? NHTSA, ALL REPORTS HAS SHOWN THAT WHEN THIS PROBLEM EXIST ITS CAN FREEZE THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSE SEVERE HARM TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND INNOCENT PEOPLE AROUND. MY CAR FROZEN ON TAKING OFF FROM A LIGHT AND THERE WAS ALMOST A CAR PILEUP AND ADDITIONAL INSURES. BEFORE THIS HAPPENS TO OTHER OUT THERE PLEASE ISSUE HONDA A RECALL OF THESE 2003 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY BETWEEN 60-70 MPH THE CAR BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY JERK WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND SPEEDING UP ON ITS ON. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THIS WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE THERE WERE CARS ALL AROUND ME AND I JUST KNEW I WAS ABOUT THE CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT. I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO PARK MY CAR. I PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT THE CAR WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT MOVE FOR A FEW MINUTES. I TOOK MY CAR TO FIRESTONE WHERE I USUALLY HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND I WAS SENT TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP. THEY CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REBUILT WHICH WOULD COST B/T $3200-$$3800 DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF WARRANTY I WANTED. THEY ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS VERY ODD THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON CONSIDERING THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I NOT DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE ITS A HUGE SAFETY RISK. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHEN SHIFTING FROM THIRD TO FOURTH WHEN ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME WHEN I LOST ALL POWER. *TR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS HAVE HAPPENED EVER SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. AT 144000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. AT TIME OF PURCHASE, FLUID WAS CHANGED, JANUARY CAME, AND ONCE AGAIN NEEDED ANOTHER FLUID CHANGE. I CHANGED THE FLUID AFTER PURCHASE OUT OF FEAR AND TRANSMISSION WENT FROM HARD SHIFTS TO NORMAL, EVEN SHIFTS. PROBLEMS RAISED AGAIN IN JANUARY, I HAVE TWO CASES OF HONDA TRANSMISSION FLUID AT HAND RIGHT NOW. NOW, IT'S MAYBE TWO WEEKS BEFORE IT SHIFTS HARD AGAIN. I DEAL WITH IT KNOWING THE COST TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION, BUT YESTERDAY WAS THE POINT WHERE IT STARTS TO AFFECT MY SAFETY. GOING 30-45, SHIFTING FROM SECOND TO THIRD, THERE IS DELAY IN SHIFTING WHEN AT 3000 RPM, AT 4000 RPM OR HIGHER SHIFTING IS VERY VIOLENT FROM SECOND TO THIRD AS OF YESTERDAY, APRIL 23, 2014. ALSO AT 55 MPH ON MY WAY HOME, THE CAR JOLTED DURING SHIFTING WHILE ACCELERATING CAUSING ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. IF THIS HAPPENED JUST THREE SECONDS BEFORE AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER ON THIS ROAD IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH. TRANSMISSION FEELS DISTANT AT TIMES, AS IF POWER IS NOT BEING PROPERLY APPLIED TO THE WHEELS DURING SLOW MEDIUM AND HARD ACCELERATION FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION DETERIORATES WITH TIME AND MILEAGE. CAR IS 100% DIFFERENT THAN WHEN WE ACQUIRED IT. COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT AND NOT ONE THING BEING DONE BY HONDA NOR NHTSA. THE OIL JET KIT WAS A CHEAP AND LIMITED FIX TO THIS PROBLEM AND ONLY DELAYED TRANSMISSION FAILURE. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FOR THIS? SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THESE TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AND ARE LUCKY TO AVOID ACCIDENTS AND DEATH. DOES IT HAVE TO TAKE SOMEONE TRAVELING 70 MPH WITH VIOLENT DOWN SHIFTING, BEING REAR ENDED AND KILLED FOR THIS TO REACH HEADLINES FOR SOMEONE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DANGER? IT'S A REAL PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS SAFETY, PEOPLE'S LIVES INCLUDING MY OWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR AND INTO SECOND GEAR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING HOSE DETERIORATING, MY POWER STEERING PUMP WENT OUT. I PAID $700.00 GETTING IT FIXED IN JANUARY 2013. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS THAT MY POWER STEERING PUMP GOING OUT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOSE DETERIORATING. I TRUSTED THEM AND HAD IT FIXED AND PAID IN FULL. I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER VERY TRUSTED MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD OTHERWISE. SINCE THEN, DEALING WITH HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE! ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO MY STEERING STARTED MAKING A REALLY WEIRD NOISE. LOW AND BEHOLD, HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS TOLD ME MY POWER STEERING PUMP WAS OUT AGAIN. ANOTHER $700.00 TO FIX IT...THEY SHOW NO RECORDS OF EVER REPLACING MY POWER STEERING PUMP, THEREFORE THERE IS NO WARRANTY. I HAVE CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY ABOUT HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS. NOT ONLY HAVE THEY LIED ABOUT MY POWER STEERING AND STOLEN MONEY FROM ME ON PARTS THAT WERE CLEARLY UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY, THEY HAVE STRIPPED MY OIL PAN PLUG FOR THE SECOND TIME AND MY CAR WAS LEAKING OIL ALL OVER MY GARAGE. I PAID MY TRUSTED MECHANIC TO FIX THAT PROBLEM NOT ONCE BUT TWICE, WHICH HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS SHOULD PAY ME BACK FOR. I AM SICK OF HONDA OF TIFFANY SPRINGS!!! EVER SINCE[XXX] GOT SICK & PASSED AWAY, THAT PLACE HAS GONE DOWNHILL. I AM READY TO BUY A NEW CAR, BUT NOT FROM THERE!! I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR THERE AGAIN! INTERMITTENT CONNECTION LOSS TO THE AIR BAG DUE TO BAD WIRING PART COMMONLY CALLED "CLOCK SPRING OR HONDA'S NAME FOR IT "CABLE REEL" I CALLED HONDA TO CHECK FOR RECALLS AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE PROBLEM, THE REPORT WAS FILED AND I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER BUT THERE WAS NO ACTIVE RECALL ON THIS. AS ANOTHER ONE OF MY VEHICLES OF A DIFFERENT MODEL HAD THE SAME PART REPLACED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL I KNEW IT WAS IMPORTANT TO REPORT THIS TO THE NHTSA FOR REVIEW. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 130K MILES AND HAD TO BE REBUILT AT COST TO ME OF $2800. *TR
OUR AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WE ARE TOLD THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE INOPERABLE WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. WE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR REPAIRS 6 TIMES OVER THE LAST 5 MONTHS. WE HAVE SPENT OVER $1,100 AND STILL THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES BACK ON. SRS CODE 32-80 - HONDA DEALER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD THAT AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY HAS RECORD OF MULTIPLE INCIDENCES OF THIS CODE WITH NO KNOW RESOLUTION. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS OUR PRIMARY CAR AND WE CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP POURING MONEY IN WITH NO RESULTS! WE NEED OUR AIRBAGS TO WORK! *TR
WHEN LEAVING A PARKING LOT, THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO DRIVE. IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKE WAS ON, BUT IT WASN'T. AFTER DRIVING IN A STOP AND GO SITUATION, I DISCOVERED IT WOULD SHIFT RELUCTANTLY IF I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. BY DOING THAT AND AVOIDING THE FREEWAY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT SINCE. THE CAR IS A V6 AND I HAD RECENTLY HAD THE POWER STEERING HOSE REPLACED AT A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF LEAKING AND SMOKE ALONG WITH THE IGNITION RECALL REPAIR. NEITHER THE CAR NOR THE DEALERSHIP HAD GIVEN ANY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NO WARNING LIGHTS. ARE ON. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THE ONLY INFORMATION I WAS ABLE TO GET WAS THAT A 2004 TRANSMISSION RECALL HAD EXPIRED. *TR
CAR FREQUENTLY SLIPPED OUT OF 2ND GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. HONDA SAID A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT HONDA TRIED TO BAND-AID IN 2004. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION RECALL ON 2003 ACCORD V6 VEHICLES. THERE ARE 810 COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM SPECIFICALLY FOR THE TRANSMISSION. HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE NO DOUBT GONE UNREPORTED. HONDA KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AS EARLY AS 2004 AND HASN'T DONE THE RIGHT THING. PLEASE HELP US. *TR
TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY HONDA IN 2007 AT 115,000 MILES. THE HONDA REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY AND CATASTROPHICALLY A FEW DAYS AGO DESPITE METICULOUS MAINTENANCE BY HONDA DEALERS AND TOP MECHANICS. THIS FAILURE LEFT THE DRIVER IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS SECOND TRANSMISSION HAD 80,000 MILES AND DOES NOT ADDRESS THE ORIGINAL DESIGN DEFECT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 35MPH IT STARTED SLIPPING AND JERKING THEN SUDDENLY SLAMMED INTO SECOND GEAR. WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND. *TR
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 ORIGINAL OWNER, TRANSMISSION IS SWITCHING GEARS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES. IF I PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON, IT GOES BACK INTO THE CORRECT GEAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE I AM ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS WARMED UP (DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 15 OR 20 MINUTES). THERE IS ALSO A RANDOM VIBRATION THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM THE TRANSMISSION FOR SOME TIME NOW. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY HAVE QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $4600 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION, BUT CLAIM THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR. THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD HAS 4 RECALLS ON IT ALREADY. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO HAVE PURCHASED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO BE A QUALITY, TOP OF THE LINE HONDA, ONLY TO HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING AND MERGING ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. THE MOTOR RPMS WENT UP BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEING POWERED. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY AND I. AFTER THE INITIAL INCIDENT, THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR ON NUMEROUS OTHER OCCASIONS. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING FUNNY AT LOW SPEEDS - HAVING TROUBLE DOWNSHIFTING TO SPEED UP THE CAR (I.E. GOING ABOUT 25 AND THEN TRYING TO SPEED UP - IT WOULD JUST FEEL LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND THE CAR WOULD REV BUT NOT SPEED UP).THE BIGGEST ISSUE THEN WAS THAT, AT HIGH SPEEDS, THE CAR WOULD VIOLENTLY SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR - THUS CAUSING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY AND SEVERELY SLOW DOWN. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY, AND EACH TIME I BARELY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT - LUCKILY NO ONE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME EITHER TIME IT HAPPENED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT LOOKS LIKE '03 HONDA ACCORDS WITH THE V6 HAVE MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES - AND IT APPEARS MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE.... BUT I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE OF IT. MY CURRENT CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT. *TR
AS PER NHTSA RECALL 12V-222 THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KINGS HONDA IN CINCINNATI, OH ON NOV 6 2012 AND REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THIS RECALL. ONE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED AND FLUID WAS ADDED, HOWEVER SEVERAL DIFFERENT HOSES WERE LEAKING AND IT WAS NOTED BY THE MECHANIC THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING AT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PUMP. BOTH HONDA AMERICA AND KINGS HONDA REFUSE TO REPLACE THESE PARTS UNDER THIS RECALL BECAUSE IT ONLY REQUIRES THEM TO REPLACE THE ONE C-HOSE. THIS SITUATION IS STILL A DANGER AND POWER STEERING FLUID IS STILL LEAKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR

THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
FIRST NOTICED DIFFICULT STEERING AND NOISE. MECHANIC FOUND POWER STEERING HOSE LEAKING AND REPLACED IT ($400 PARTS & LABOR). LATER SAME DAY, MECHANIC FOUND POWER STEERING PUMP WAS ALSO LEAKING AND REPLACED IT (ANOTHER $400 PARTS & LABOR). STEERING STILL DIFFICULT AND STILL MAKING NOISE, SO BROUGHT CAR BACK TO MECHANIC A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. MECHANIC REPLACED RACK & PINION (AN ADDITIONAL $800 PARTS & LABOR). IT APPEARS THE 4 CYLINDER ACCORDS (2003) ARE NOT A PART OF THE CURRENT HONDA RECALL FOR POWER STEERING HOSE LEAKS, BUT LOOKS LIKE THEY SHOULD BE. ALSO, NOTE THE ADDITIONAL PARTS FAILURES (AND FINANCIAL COSTS) AS A RESULT OF THE LEAKING HOSE. *TR

I BOUGHT MY HONDA FROM THE DEALERSHIP 06/23/12, 1 OWNER COMPLETELY SERVICED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP THEN TRADED IN AT SAME DEALERSHIP. WHEN BOUGHT IT HAD 101,793 MILES, TIMING BELT WAS DONE AT 90K AND POWER STEERING PUMP. NOT EVEN MONTH LATER I HAD TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY. I'VE ALWAYS FELT SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AFTER BOUGHT CAR. ON 11/10/2012 OUT OF NO WHERE WHEN I WAS GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY MY CAR STARTED TO DOWN SHIFT REALLY HARD, WAS JERKING WHILE DRIVING AND THEN WAS STUCK IN FIRST GEAR, LUCKILY I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY HOUSE SO I DROVE HOME THEN PARKED IT AND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON. THE NEXT MORNING (TODAY) CALLED A FRIEND WHO WORKS ON HONDAS AND HE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS VERY DIRTY AND PRACTICALLY GONE. DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK TWICE AND TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING FINE. THEN LATER DROVE ABOUT 8 MILES AND STARTED HARD DOWN SHIFTING AND WAS STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. THEN PARKED AND TRIED TO PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE AND IT NOT MOVE ACTED LIKE WAS IN NEUTRAL. PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF THEN STARTED IT AGAIN AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE, REVERSE NOW WORKED. AFTER THAT I HAD MY FRIEND LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT WAS PRACTICALLY EMPTY AGAIN. SO I WENT TO THE STORE GOT MORE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND PUT SOME IN AND TRIED TO DRIVE BACK HOME. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 8 MILES THEN IT STARTED TO HARD DOWN SHIFT ALL OVER AGAIN. AFTER ANOTHER 3 MILES THE CAR COMPLETELY FREAKED OUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON ALONG WITH THE ABS, TSC, AND THE LIGHT SHOWING I WAS IN DRIVE STARTED FLASHING. SO I PULLED OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EVERYTHING WAS STILL DOING THE SAME THING, INCLUDING THE LIGHT INDICATING I WAS IN DRIVE EVEN THOUGHT I WAS IN PARK AND THE PARK GEAR LIGHT WAS ON. SO I TURNED OFF MY CAR, SAT FOR A MIN THEN RESTARTED. DRIVING SLOW NEEDED TO STOP AND BRAKES STARTED TO GO OUT. *TR
AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTE RIDE OUT OF MY CITY ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, MY CAR VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED FROM 65 MPH TO 0 AND WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF FIRST GEAR THEREAFTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERYDAY AFTERWARDS THAT I DRIVE MY CAR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES. IT SEEMS AS IF ONCE A MECHANISM INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION HEATS UP OR GETS HOT, THIS HAPPENS. I ALWAYS SERVICE MY VEHICLE AS REQUIRED, I AM WORRIED. THIS IS A MAJOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,892. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST THE CONSUMER WITH REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. UPDATED 03/21/13

I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF 2003 ACCORD, EX. MY CAR HAS 113,000 MILES ON IT. ITS A WELL MAINTAINED CAR I KEPT FOR YEARS. I MUST SAY THAT THIS CAR IS EXCELLENT, HOWEVER, THERE ARE SIGNS THAT SOME PARTS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING REALLY WELL LATELY. ALSO, JUST TWO WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THAT THE GEAR GETS STUCK ON "PARK" MODE AND I HAVE TO PRESS THE HANDLE BEFORE IT GETS RELEASED. I AM NOT SURE IF THE GEAR HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TCS AND TRIANGLE SHOWING ON THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, I NOTICED MY CAR HAS AN ISSUE WITH BRAKES WHEN DRIVING WHILE RAINING. DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH ON INTERSTATE 5 WHEN CAR FELT LIKE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN APPLIED, HARD. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY QUICK DEACCELERATION TO 30MPH AND A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP ALONG THE FREEWAY WITH MY FLASHERS ON AT 35MPH, TOP SPEED, UNTIL I COULD GET OFF OF THE FREEWAY. WHEN I WAS PUTTING THE CAR ON THE TRAILER DOLLY WE REALIZED THAT I HAD NO REVERSE GEAR. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR REENGAGED WITH REVERSE WHILE TAKING THE CAR OFF OF THE CAR TRAILER. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP THAT DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AT 106,000MILES. WE HAD TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE HONDA DEALER FOR THE 2004 TRANSMISSION RECALL REPAIR. I HAD NO PREVIOUS WARNING THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL THIS FAILURE. *TR

I HAD TO PUT THE SHIFTER INTO "2" TO GET IT TO MOVE. IF IT WAS A YIELD SIGN INSTEAD OF A STOP, AND I HAD SLOWED DOWN AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE, I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT.
