I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD WITH LOW MILES (50K) THAT HAS HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS WEEK WHEN, WHILE DRIVING/ACCELERATING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT WITH NO WARNING AT ALL AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE COASTING, DRASTIC RPM INCREASE AND ACCELERATION. I WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, BUT THROUGH MY OWN RESEARCH HAVE SEEN THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL, HOWEVER HONDA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE RPMS ALSO INCREASED TO 5,000 WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS CLEANED AND IS NOW OPERATING NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND SHE DOES NOT THINK THAT HER ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STICKY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,500.

WE HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD WE WERE TRYING TO ACCELERATE OUT OF A CLOVER LEAF WITH A SEMI TRUCK TRYING TO MERGE OFF OF HIGHWAY ON TO CLOVER LEAF WHEN ARE HONDA CAME OUT OF GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD LX. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY INCREASED IN ENGINE RPMS WHILE IN DRIVE GEAR. HE THEN ATTEMPTED TO UTILIZE A DIFFERENT GEAR, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PICK UP ANY POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE ENGINE CONTINUED TO IDLE, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT READ ANY GEARS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND WOULD TAKE NO LIABILITY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HIS INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 135,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS CEASED TO OPERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING REAR END COLLISION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON UPON STARTING THE IGNITION, THE LIGHT STAYS ON CONSISTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49500.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 60-65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ON MY AUTOMATIC 2003 V-6 HONDA ACCORD EX DECIDED TO VIOLENTLY SHIFT DOWN TO FIRST GEAR. THE CAR ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND I WAS INCHES AWAY FROM GETTING PLOWED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER GOING 60 MPH. CURRENTLY THE CAR WON'T SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. THIS CAME ON WITHOUT WARNING AND HAD THE POTENTIAL TO SERIOUSLY INJURED NOT ONLY ME BUT ALSO THOSE TRAVELING AROUND ME. I FEARED FOR MY LIFE. AFTER DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS EXACT SITUATION IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 V-6 HONDA ACCORD. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. AFTER SPEAKING WITH HONDA OF AMERICA, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION INSPECTED. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THIS AFTERNOON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE DRIVER STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE DRIVER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS LUNGING FORWARD AND SWITCHING GEARS. THE DRIVER STATES THE VEHICLE THEN JUST GOT STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. THE DRIVER STATED THAT HE DID CONTACT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 77,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2003 HONDA ACCORD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR VIOLENTLY PITCHING THE CAR FORWARD. THIS SUDDEN EVENT NEARLY CAUSED HER TO LOSE CONTROL. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO THIS EVENT. I HAVE FOUND AFTER RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM IN EPIDEMIC LEVELS FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THIS TRANSMISSION IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AS A CRASH WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED IN OUR CASE. I READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON YOUR WEBSITE REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE, MANY INVOLVING NEAR MISSES SUCH AS OURS. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2004 FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM ON THIS 2003 ACCORD, AND THE SERVICE, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP WAS COMPLETED. WE STILL EXPERIENCED THIS HAZARDOUS EVENT. I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SAFETY RECALL BY THE NHTSA REQUIRING HONDA TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND CORRECT THIS SAFETY PROBLEM BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS. TRANSMISSION FAILURE - GEARS WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. GEARS SHIFTED AND REVVED BACK UP THEN SHOT BACK DOWN. ALMOST GOT KILLED BY TRACTOR TRAILER THAT WAS BEHIND ME. I WAS ON THORNTON RD. WHICH IS A TWO LANE MAJOR ROADWAY, WHICH IS HEAVILY TRAVELED BY LARGE TRUCKS FOR INDUSTRIAL PURPOSES. THE AREA OF ROADWAY IS VERY DARK. I AM A POLICE OFFICER AND WHAT I JUST EXPERIENCED IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO ME IF I DIDN'T THINK QUICKLY. THANK GOD MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. HONDA NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR BADLY INJURED. A TEENAGER WITH MINIMAL DRIVING SKILLS WOULD HAVE PANICKED AND MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO DO. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS SITUATION AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. HONDA NOW HAS A REPUTATION FOR THEIR VEHICLES HAVING SEVERED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THEY CONTINUE TO OVERLOOK THE PROBLEM AS IF IT IS NOT THERE. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THEM TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE NOW? VEHICLE: HONDA ACCORD 2003 VIN: [XXX] MILEAGE: ABOUT 70,000 RELATED RECALL: 07V001000 HOW LONG: IT STAYS ON AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. CONDITIONS: 1. THE LIGHT COMES ON EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO BAG OR SMALL OBJECT ON PASSENGER SEAT. 2. THE LIGHT HAS ALSO ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND PASSENGER SEAT WAS VACANT. ALSO WHEN THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT WEIGHING ABOUT 150 POUNDS. 3. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STARTING VEHICLE AFTER BEING PARKED FOR COUPLE OF HOURS. FREQUENCY: ABOUT ONCE EVERY 15 DAYS (STARTED OCCURRING FROM FEB 2010) RECENT CHANGE IN CONDITIONS: 1. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BEING SHIFTED MORE RECENTLY AS MY WIFE HAS STARTED DRIVING THIS CAR TOO. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR LAST 3 YEARS AND ONLY RECENTLY THE SEAT IS SHIFTED MORE OFTEN. THAT IS THE ONLY CHANGE I CAN THINK OF TRIGGERING THIS LIGHT. REMEDY: 1. THE WARNING LIGHT GOES OFF IF I SWITCH-OFF THE CAR AND TAKE THE KEYS OUT AND RESTART IT. THOUGH THE PROCESS HAS TO BE REPEATED MORE THAN ONCE. MY WIFE ACTUATED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN ?MIST MODE? AND THEY OPERATED VERY SLOWLY AND AT TIMES PAUSING THROUGH THE CYCLE OF ?MIST MODE? OPERATION. I TOOK THE AUTOMOBILE TO AN AUTHORIZED HONDA OF SERRAMONTE, COLMA, CA ON THE MORNING OF FEB 6TH 2010. VEHICLE WAS THEN DRIVEN IN DRY CONDITIONS, LATER THAT DAY WITH THE HONDA RECALL (NO. Q78), (1.D. #29313) (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #: 08V169000, NHTSA ACTION #: PE07060) ALREADY PERFORMED AND ON THE FOLLOWING FOUR DAYS (FEB 7TH- FEB.10TH). WE WERE OUT OF THE COUNTRY; THEREFORE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN FROM FEB 11TH - FEB. 17TH. WIFE DID NOT USE THE VEHICLE FOR THE FOLLOWING FOUR DAYS (FEB. 18TH - FEB. 21ST). SHE STARTED USING IT ON MON. FEB. 22ND (NO RAIN). ON TUE. FEB. 23RD (RAINY DAY) SHE USED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN ?MIST MODE? 2 TO 3 TIMES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, TOWARDS THE COAST (HALF MOON BAY, CA). I HAD APPLIED RAIN-X TO FRONT AND BACK WINDSHIELDS SOMETIME IN THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY. LATER THIS DAY, SHE HEADED BACK TO HER OFFICE (IN BURLINGAME, CA). IT WAS THEN, THAT IT BEGAN TO RAIN HARD AND TRIED TO OPERATE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN REGULAR MODE AT WHICH TIME THEY FAILED TO OPERATE AT ALL! TRIED TO OPERATE IN ?MIST MODE?, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER! I CONFIRMED THE OPERATIONAL FAILURE WHEN SHE ARRIVED HOME THAT EVENING. THE FOLLOWING DAY IN THE MORNING I ACTUATED ?MIST MODE?, AND THEY EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS THEY HAD BACK ON JANUARY AND IN FEB. 23RD. I CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA ON 24/FEB/2010 @ APPROXIMATELY 08:31 A.M., PST (THEIR CASE # [XXX] ). THE COVER INSTALLMENT IS NOT A REMEDY TO WHAT COULD BE INTERNAL CORROSION IN THE WIPER MOTOR/CIRCUIT BREAKER UNIT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT COULD LEAD TO A FATAL CRASH! MY WIFE MADE IT BACK HOME SAFE EVEN THOUGH THE LIKELIHOOD OF A CRASH IN THE CONDITIONS SHE DROVE WERE VERY HIGH (RAIN-X CERTAINLY WORKED!). *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING AND THE RPMS OF MY VEHICLE SHOT UP AND MY CAR DECELERATED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR RESTARTED AND IT RAN FINE. GOT UP NEXT MORNING, DROVE KIDS TO SCHOOL. GOT IN CAR, BEGAN DRIVE TO WORK. AS I ENTERED THE FREEWAY, MY CAR'S RPMS SHOT UP AND MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY WHEN IT HIT 40 MPH. DROVE TO LOCAL MECHANIC, RESTARTING CAR 5 TIMES ON THE WAY AND THEN HAD IT TOWED TO HONDA DELEARED. NOW SITTING WAIT TO SEE WHO WILL PAY FOR NEW TRANSMISSION THEY SAY I NEED. UPDATED 03/08/10
I WAS DRIVING MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 AND IT SPONTANEOUSLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR. MY CAR SLOWED ABRUPTLY AND CAUSED MY PASSENGER AND ME TO PHYSICALLY "JERK" IN THE CAR. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RE-STARTED, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS LITTLE TRAFFIC AND NO COLLISION, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. IN REVIEWING A NUMBER OF WEBSITES, I SEE THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE. I WILL NOW CONTACT HONDA FOR REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WHEN HE CAME OUT HIS FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED HIS AIRBAG LIGHT HAD NOT BEEN COMING ON SO HE HAS NO IDEA WHY THE AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,600.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ONE THE MERRITT PKWY ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WAS LOOSING SPEED AND THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO MOVE AT ALL. I WAS NEARLY HIT IN THE REAR BY ONCOMING VEHICLES BECAUSE MY CAR STOOD STUCK ON A TWO LANE PKWY. *TR

THE CONTACT LOCATED NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 08V169000 (VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER: MOTOR) BUT WAS ADVISED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTED MY CAR FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST VIOLENTLY LURCHING MY CAR AND FORCING ME TO SLIDE OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. BOTH MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER WERE THROWN INTO OUR SEATBELTS AND TOSSED BACK INTO OUR SEATS AFTER SLIDING INTO THE HIGHWAY MEDIAN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF TRYING TO GET MY COMPOSURE WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND LIMP HOME IN FIRST GEAR USING BACK ROADS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT AND LEARNED THAT THERE IS A LONG KNOWN ISSUE ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY WERE NOT SURPRISED. NOW AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO HONDA. HONDA EVEN COMPENSATES SOME REPAIR COST AS A GOOD FAITH MEASURE. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HONDA IS GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER. MAYBE NO ONE HAS DIED YET, BUT I CAME CLOSE TO IT! I CONTRACTED WITH BLACKWATER INTERNATIONAL FOR 4 YEARS AND WENT THROUGH INTENSIVE DEFENSIVE AND OFFENSIVE COMBAT DRIVING SKILLS TRAINING AND I BELIEVE THIS TRAINING IS WHY I KEPT MY HEAD AND AVERTED A CRASH, THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. *TR
I HAVE A HONDA ACCORD 2003 LX. MY STEREO LIGHT IS DIM AND I COULDN'T SEE THE CLOCK. THEY HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN 04-027. HOWEVER, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY FIX ALL THE 2003 ACCORD EXCEPT MODEL LX AND DX. THE POINT IS MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER 03'S ACCORD DOES. IT IS REALLY DANGEROUS WHICH CAN CAUSE ACCIDENT IF DRIVERS TRY TO READ THE TIME AT THE DARK. ( OR IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE DURING AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE BACKGROUND LIGHT) HONDA SHOULD COVER ALL THE 2003 ACCORD! NOT ONLY UPPER MODEL. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD LX THAT WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON ACCIDENT, WHERE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 45 AND 55MPH WHEN IT SLID ON ICE AND WENT HEAD ON INTO A SNOW BANK/DITCH. THERE WAS ONLY THE DRIVER INTHE VEHICLE AND APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE FRONT BUMPER WAS SHATTERED DUE TO THE COLLISION. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH NO PASSENGER IN THE SEAT, AND THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCKED, BUT THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE (WITH THE DEPLOYED AIRBAG) DID NOT. THE CAR WAS NOT DISABLED FROM THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND IS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AT THIS TIME. I CONTACTED PRICE HONDA IN DOVER, DELAWARE WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, NOR WERE THEY ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY THE CAR'S SAFETY FEATURES DID NOT WORK PROPERLY FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF I DO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THERE WAS NO WAY TO ENSURE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM'S EFFICIENCY AND THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IF IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY OR NOT. *TR
THIS EVENT OCCURRED THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2010. I WAS IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 50-55MPH. I WAS COMING UP ON A RED LIGHT AND MY CARE SUDDENLY WOULD NOT BRAKE. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE TO MY BRAKES AS I POSSIBLY COULD (MY FEET AND BODY WAS COMPLETELY ENGAGED AS FIRMLY AS POSSIBLE TO THE BRAKES) AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN BUT WOULD NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. LUCKILY I WAS THE FIRST CAR AT THE RED LIGHT IN THE FARTHEREST LEFT LANE. I ENDED UP ROLLING THROUGH THE LIGHT AND IT WAS A TIME OF DAY WHEN TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY (THANK GOD) I ENDED UP GOING THROUGH THE LIGHT AND VEERING TO A MEDIAN. I APPLIED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE CAR STILL CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. I ENDED UP SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF WHILE IN DRIVE. ONCE I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE IT WAS A VERY LOUD ACCELERATING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I COULD NOT GO BACK INTO ANY OTHER GEARS. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH I WAS EXPERIENCING SOME TYPE OF ISSUE WITH MY ACCELERATOR CABLE. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE ABS ELECTRONIC MODULATOR UNDER MY WARRANTY. AFTER FEW DAYS THE PROBLEM DID NOT IMPROVE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT 1/2 WAY DOWN EASILY AND THEN THE DISC BRAKES JUST LOCKED UP ALL OF A SUDDEN. THE DRIVER HAD NO REAL CONTROL OVER THE BRAKING ACTIION. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY CALLED HONDA REPAIR AND TALKED TO A TECH. HE SAID THAT A SOFT,TOUCHY PEDAL WAS NORMAL ON THESE CARS. I TOLD THEM THAT UP TO 55,000 MILES THE BRAKES WERE PERFECT. WHAT HAD HAPPENED? THEY DID NOT KNOW. SO I HAD THEM REPLACE ALL MY PADS AND TURNED ALL ROTORS.I THEN HAD THEM BLEED THE BRAKES. THE STOPPING POWER DID INCREASE BUT THE SOFT,TOUCHY BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED. AFTER GOING BACK TO THE DEALER THE 3RD TIME TO COMPLAIN,THEY FINALLY JUST TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES AND THEREFORE COULD NOT HELP ME. SO I WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND HAD THEM REBLEED MY BRAKES JUST TO BE SURE THAT THERE WAS NO AIR IN THE SYSTEM. AFTER THEY DID THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL FIRMED UP A LITTLE BIT. BUT AFTER 2-3 DAYS THE SOFT,TOUCHY PEDAL RETURNED. NO ONE AT HONDA COULD GIVE ME ANY EXPLANATION. NOW I AM READING ABOUT DEFECTS ALLOWING AIR INTO THE BRAKING SYSTEM FROM THE ABS MODULATOR AND I AM THINKING NOW THAT IT IS THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEM APPEARED. I ALSO DROVE A NEW 2010 ACCORD EX 4 DOOR TO COMPARE THE BRAKES. THE NEW HONDA HAD A VERY FIRM,SOLID BRAKE PEDAL. SO I WENT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED THEM TO FIX MY BRAKES SO THAT THEY FELT LIKE THE 2010 ACCORD'S BRAKES. VEHICLE "SLIPS" OUT OF GEAR WHEN DRIVING LEAVING THE TRANSMISSION TO REV IN NEUTRAL. GEAR SELECTOR NEVER MOVES. THIS "SLIPPING" HAPPENS AT A VARIETY OF SPEEDS, BUT PARTICULARLY WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS IN PASSING GEAR OR DOWNSHIFTING TO GO UP HILLS. SOMETIMES ALL IT TAKES TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK IN GEAR IS MOVING THE GEAR SELECTOR TO NEUTRAL WHILE COASTING AND THEN MOVING IT BACK INTO DRIVE. OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE MUST BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IN TIME IT WILL GO BACK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AGAIN. *TR

2003 HONDA ACCORD - LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR PROBLEM - (WHILE STANDING OUTSIDE THE CAR) THE DOOR WOULD STAY IN THE LOCKED POSITION. IT WOULD NOT OPEN USING THE KEY OR BY PUTTING THE KEY IN THE DOOR. THE KEY WOULD GO IN BUT I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN THE LOCKS EITHER DIRECTION. I FINALLY KEPT PRESSING THE BUTTON ON THE KEY & EVENTUALLY 3 OF THE DOORS UNLOCKED. ANOTHER DAY, I PRESSED THE KEY TO UNLOCK & THE LOCK WOULD GO UP & DOWN IMMEDIATELY. IT WOULD UNLOCK & LOCK AGAIN SO QUICKLY I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO OPEN THE DOOR. I FINALLY GOT IN THE CAR WITH THE HELP OF MY DAUGHTER. SHE PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY & I GRABBED THE DOOR QUICKLY TO OPEN - THAT'S HOW WE GOT IN THE CAR THAT DAY. SEVERAL TIMES I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY PASSENGERS IN & OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. IT WAS TRULY FRIGHTENING DRIVING THE CAR AT THAT TIME FOR FEAR OF AN EMERGENCY THAT WE/PASSENGERS WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. MY PASSENGER HAD TO GO OUT THE OTHER DOOR. THANK GOD I HAD ANOTHER DOOR THAT WAS WORKING. I AM A MOM. I ALSO CARPOOL THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN. NOT ONLY WAS THIS DOOR WITH THE PROBLEM ENDANGERING MYSELF. IT WAS ENDANGERING MY PASSENGERS TOO. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. $281.24 LATER THE DOOR APPEARS TO BE FIXED AT THIS TIME.
