RAN OFF THE ROAD, TRYING TO USE WINDOW DEFROSTER CONTROLS BECAUSE THE BACKLIGHT ON THE RADIO CONTROLS CEASED FUNCTIONING. *NM
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH ON A FREEWAY IN CLEVELAND, OH. I SAW SOMETHING ON THE ROAD AND QUICKLY SWERVED TO AVOID IT. THE ITEM HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WITH LITTLE IMPACT, AND THE RIGHT CURTAIN AIRBAGS IN THE BACK AND FRONT, AND PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG BOTH DEPLOYED. I RECALLED A LOUD NOISE, BUT I DIDN'T SEE THE AIRBAGS ACTUALLY INFLATE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO A HONDA DEALER, AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A DENT UNDERNEATH THAT MUST HAVE CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. REPAIR COSTS WERE QUOTED, BUT NOTHING WAS REPAIRED. *TR
THE LIGHTS ON THE STEREO AND THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD WENT OUT AND WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. UNABLE TO SEE THE CONTROL SWITCHES FOR THE AC/HEATER WHICH WAS DANGEROUS DURING NIGHT DRIVING. THE STEREO WORKED - BUT IT IS COMPLETELY DARK - NO LIGHTS. I CALLED HONDA ON 2 OCCASIONS ABOUT IT ( CASE# : N032006-03-08-00025) AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM AND EVEN REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 HONDA ACCORDS ( BULLETIN : 04-027 ). HOWEVER, THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVES WERE NOT PARTICULARLY HELPFUL AND WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE VALIDITY OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN. ALSO, THEY DID NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 ACCORDS AND BACK LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN WOODSTOCK AND THEY EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE COMPLETE STEREO WITH A RE-FURBISHED ONE WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM (AT NO CHARGE) - INITIALLY THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHICH CAUSED THE BACK LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TO GO OUT. LUCKILY, THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WHERE IT ENDED UP COSTING THE OWNERS BETWEEN $400 - $800. *JB
2003 ACCORD HAD CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES IN VEHICLE CAUSING CONSUMER TO BECOME SICK. *TS THE SMELL WAS A ROTTEN EGG SULFUR SMELL. THE CONSUMER WOULD GET MIGRAINE HEADACHES AND BECOME NAUSEOUS SEVERAL DAYS AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *NM
THIS FOLLOWS A COMPLAINT NUMBER 10135954 (2ND GEAR PROBLEM, RECALL #04V176000). LAST YEAR, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE HONDA REP. SAID MY VEHICLE'S VIN WAS NOT RECALLED. YET, I NOTICED THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION OF HONDA ACCORD AND THEIR VIN NUMBERS WERE SIMILAR TO MINE. IN THE SPRING 2006, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE NOISE WHEN IT IS ACCELERATED. IT MAKES MORE NOISE IN THE AFTERNOON THAN THE MORNING. I TOOK TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED SOME PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE BEEN BROKEN OR GOT LOOSE. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE RELATED TO THE RECALL # 04V1760000 OF THIS VEHICLE. I AM AFRAID IF THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND THUS CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *NM
I RECENTLY RAN OFF THE ROAD AND NEARLY WRECKED MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX TRYING TO READ MY CLOCK AND A/C LIGHTING WHILE DRIVING. NORMALLY, THIS WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE KNOWN BACKLIGHTING PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR IS WIDESPREAD AND KNOWN BY THE MANUFACTURE. FURTHERMORE, THERE IS YET TO BE A RECALL. HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE FROM DRIVER DISTRACTION EVERY YEAR? THE LAST THING WE NEED IS TO ADD ONE MORE DISTRACTION TO THE ROAD. WOULD YOU OPERATE AN AIRLINER WITH COCKPIT LIGHTING ISSUES? *NM
THE ILLUMINATION (BACK LIGHT) BEHIND THE CLIMATE CONTROL AND AUDIO SYSTEM HAS GONE OUT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SELECT THE DEFROST CONTROLS WHICH MAKES COLD WEATHER DRIVING NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. ALSO, CLIMATE CONTROL INSIDE THE VECHICLE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE DURING THE DAY AND IMPOSSIBLE DURING THE NIGHT. PULLING OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY TO ADJUST THE CONTROLS (WITH THE AID OF A FLASHLIGHT) POSES IT'S OWN SET OF DANGERS. *JB
TRANSMISSION FAILURE RESULTING IN LOCKUP AND IMMEDIATE, UNEXPECTED STOP. *NM
AUDIO-HVAC DISPLAY MODULE IS DIM OR DARK (AS DESCRIBED BY HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 04-027). *AK
I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. RECENTLY THE BACK LIGHT ON THE RADIO WENT OUT. THE RADIO STILL WORKS, BUT THE DISPLAY DOES NOT. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO IT IS NOT COVERED. WHEN I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY QUOTED ME $600 TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THE ENTIRE UNIT MUST BE FIXED. AFTER DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH ON THE TOPIC, I FOUND THAT MY 2003 ACCORD IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JB
IT APPEARS MY AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING ON MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD . THE AIRBAG DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR A WHILE. LATELY IT STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY. THE HONDA DEALER (MOST RECENTLY HONDA MARYSVILLE IN MARYSVILLE, OH) TOOK VARIOUS STEPS TO ADDRESS IT BUT NOTHING WORKED. THE SECOND TO LAST STEP TAKEN WAS TO REPLACE THE CAR BATTERY BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. MOST RECENTLY, ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2008, THE HONDA DEALER RAN TESTS, SPOKE WITH HONDA MANUFACTURING, AND SAID THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE WITH THE SRS UNIT AND RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $475. THERE IS NO ASSURANCE, HOWEVER, THAT THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. HONDA MANUFACTURING DISCLAIMS ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYING FOR THIS PROBLEM, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR QUITE A WHILE AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS PERTAINS TO A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE FOR THE VEHICLE. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING A STEERING VIBRATION DURING STOPS IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD LX SEDAN WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I HAVE CONTACTED A HONDA DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THIS AND SAID NOTING IS WRONG WITH MY HONDA. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE IS A NHTSA ID #10000990 TBS REPORTED ABOUT THE STEERING VIBRATION ISSUE. MY CAR HAS ONLY 33K MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
CONSUMER 2003 ACCORD BRAKES PULSATE AND GRIND WITH NO WARNING LIGHT OF BRAKE PROBLEMS. *TS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ROTORS. THE CONSUMER FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD SET OF ROTORS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED THE CONSUMER HEARD GRINDING NOISES AND FELT THE BRAKES PULSATING WHEN PRESSED. *NM
THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND MY MOONROOF IS ROTTING AWAY. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2003 AND I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE, I AM OUT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALER IN COVINGTON, LOUISIANA THAT THE GASKET CANNOT BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY, THUS I WILL HAVE TO BUY AN ENTIRE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY TO CURE THE DEFECT. THIS WILL COST IN EXCESS OF $500. THE GASKET HAS NEVER BEEN DAMAGED AND THE ROT APPEARS TO BE FROM NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I.E., A LITTLE OVER TWO YEARS AFTER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. *JB
HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN 3 ACCIDENTS WHERE I FEEL THAT AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN EXTRA DAMAGES AND INJURY THAT WASNT TREATED
I HAVE A 203 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CENTER CONSOLE LIGHT FAILED. NOW I CANNOT OPERATE THE DEFROSTER CONTROLS, RADIO OR ANY OTHER AIR CONDITIONING FUNCTION BECAUSE THE SCREEN IS NO LONGER VISIBLE. *JB
LEASED NEW 2003 HONDA ACCORD WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN JULY, 2003. HAVE HAD MINOR, BUT IRRITATING PROBLEMS, WITH THE CAR SINCE IT'S LEASE. POWER WINDOWS ACTIVATE INTERMITTENTLY, BATTERY DIED AFTER 15,000 MILES, AND BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. DEALER TOOK CARE OF ALL ISSUES EXCEPT WINDOWS. THEY STILL OPERATE ON THEIR OPTION, NOT MINE. AT 29,000 MILES, HEARD GRINDING NOISE IN REAR BRAKES. TOOK CAR INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THAT IT WAS OUR FAULT FOR NOT "HAVING THE RUST REMOVED" AT 15,000 MILE CHECK-UP. NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS. WHEELS WERE NEVER REMOVED BY DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. TOOK VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIR AND FOUND THAT REAR BRAKES PADS HAD WORN DOWN UNEVENLY. PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED ON REAR BRAKES. FRONT BRAKES ARE FINE. FROM MY READING OF THIS WEB SITE ABOUT THE PROBLEMS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS BRAKE SYSTEM, I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AND HOPE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL SOON BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS IS OUR THIRD HONDA AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEMS AT SUCH EARLY MILEAGE. *NM

SRS LIGHT IN HONDA ACCORD EX WON'T TURN OFF. AIRBAGS ARE USELESS. DEALER CAN'T FIX. *JB
I JUST BOUGHT A 2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE EX ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. I GOT A GREAT DEAL ON THE CAR. IT WAS A HONDA CERTIFIED CAR WHICH MEANS IT HAD BEEN 150 POINT INSPECTED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. THE CAR HAS JUST OVER 60K MILES. THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT THIS PAST WEEKEND AFTER ONLY 3 WEEKS. WAS THIS PROBLEM MISSED IN THE 150 POINT INSPECTION....I THINK SO. I CHECKED BY 150 POINT INSPECTION PAPER AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. IT SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION LEAK BOX WAS NOT EVER CHECKED. THEY MUST HAVE LEFT THAT PART OUT. WHICH MEANS THE HONDA WAS NOT CERTIFIED, AND WHICH ALSO MEANS THAT IT WAS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT TO THE CONSUMER THAT THIS WAS A HONDA CERTIFIED CAR. WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS AS AN ANGRY INDIVIDUAL. I WAS BASICALLY LIED TO IN ORDER TO GET THE SELL. THANKFULLY, I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE FIX IS IN WORKS NOW. AFTER READING OTHER PEOPLE'S HORROR STORIES WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA AS A COMPANY. I AM VERY ANGRY THAT AFTER 3 WEEKS OF HAVING MY CAR, IT IS IN THE SHOP TO BE FIXED. I WAS LIED TO AND DECEIVED. ON 2003 HONDA ACCORD LE V6 W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM. RADIO/CD/HEATING/AC CONTROL PANEL IS DARK, CANNOT READ CONTROLS. NOT KNOWING THE STATUS OF DEFROSTER CAN LEAD TO FOGGED WINDSHIELD. *JB
I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, AND I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES GENTLY TO SLOW DOWN HILL. THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION DURING MY SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY ROTORS WARPED AND BRAKE PADS RUBBING ON EACH OTHER. I RESEARCH THIS ONLINE THROUGH WWW.MYCARSTATS.COM, WWW.EDMUNDS.COM, WWW.HONDAACCORDFORUM.COM, AND THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT EVERYTIME I CHANGED MY BRAKES EVERY 20K MILES, I WOULD NEED THE ROTORS RESURFACED. THIS IS A COST OF $200 AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT ALL ACCORD OWNERS TO DO THIS. I CALLED ANOTHER HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE IN THE AREA, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY SEE THIS COME IN EVERY 3 DAYS. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO A FAIL SAFE MODE, AND THE SPEED SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN TO 35 MPH AND SECOND GEAR. HE MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND DETERMINED BY THE CODES THAT THE INNER THIRD GEAR CLUTCH AND HUB FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ALERTED THAT THERE WAS A HONDA UPGRADE KIT AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR WAS MADE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. *AK
I'M LEASING MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD LX. AT 20,000 MILES MY BRAKES WERE PULSATING AND STEERING WHEEL WAS VIBRATING WHEN BRAKING AT 55MPH. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE ROTORS RE-SURFACED. NOW AT 40,000 MILES I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA SERVICE SAYS IT'S THE WAY I'M DRIVING AND THAT IF I RE-SURFACE ROTORS AGAIN I WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO MY DRIVING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I DON'T THINK IT'S MY DRIVING BUT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING. *NM
LATE APRIL 2005, BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHILE TRYING TO STOP. THOUGHT WAS GOING TO STRIKE VEHICLE AHEAD BUT AT THE LAST SECOND THE BRAKES SEEMD TO CATCH AND VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. AT THAT TIME TCM LIGHT CAME ON. NO ONE INJURED. DEALER COULD FIND NO PROBLEM WITH TCM SYSTEM AND REPLACED FRONT DISC BRAKES AND TURNED ROTORS. VEHICLE HAD 27,700 MILES AT THAT TIME. SECOND AND THIRD OCCURRENCES WERE IN MID NOVEMBER 2005. SAME THING WITH PEDAL GOING ALMOST TO FLOOR WITH BRAKES NOT ENGAGING AND AT LAST MINUTE THEY ENGAGED WITH VEHICLE ABLE TO STOP. TCM LIGHT DID NOT COME ON THIS TIME. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH BRAKE SYSTEM, NOR COULD HE REPEAT PROBLEM IN THE 8 HOURS HE HAD THE VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS MADE. DEALER SAID HE HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS SEVERAL TSB'S ON BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKES. VEHICLE HAD 34559 MILES AT THIS TIME. *NM
LEFT SIDE IMPACT COLLISION WHILE STOPPED. SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. NO SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS AVAILABLE. PHOTOS AVAILABLE. NOT YET REPAIRED. *NM
2003 HONDA ACCORD HESITATED FROM A STOP AND MADE AN UNUSUAL NOISE WHICH ALSO OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING. *TS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO CONSUMER ONLY HAD TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONSUMER DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION (RECALL NUMBER 04V176000). SHE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO A LOW BEAM. THE HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO HAVE A LOW BEAM AND DOES NOT MATCH THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS WATER INSIDE THE COVER. THE ENGINE SIZE AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 50,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,500.
A RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED BY ME FROM HONDA. I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER INSPECTION THEY SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE AND THEY SAID THEY INSTALLED A SUPPLEMENTAL COOLING JET. 9 MONTHS LATER I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. HONDA REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A REBUILT ONE BUT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE LABOR COST AND THEY ALSO WILL NOT VERIFY THAT THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION IS ANY BETTER DESIGN THAN THE ORIGINAL WHICH FAILED. THE RECALL ID # IS 04V176000. THE HONDA CASE # IS N012005-09-2200467. *NM
DURING VISIT FOR ROTATION AND REBALANCE (AT 11,500 MILES ON TIRES, 3 YEARS OLD), TIRES SHOWED CHUCKS OF RUBBER MISSING AND NUMEROUS SMALL SEPARATIONS IN TREAD. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER (MICHELIN), BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES, SO I REPLACED THE TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. *NM
IN AUGUST 2005 AND ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2005, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. ON MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN USE AND DURING RAIN STORMS. THUMPING NOISE WHEN STARTING TO MOVE FORWARD IN FIRST GEAR. FIRST DEALER TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM SAID IT WAS AN APPLE UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE SECOND DEALER FOUND THE PROBLEM. A DEFECTIVE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. PART WAS BACK ORDERED, TOOK TWO WEEKS TO FIND SERVICE BULLETIN 02-002, JANUARY 11, 2005. TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM: HAVE AN ASSISTANT PRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL WHILE YOU GRASP THE CLUTCH LINE AT THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER, AND THEN AT THE SLAVE CYLINDER. IF YOU FEEL A VIBRATION THROUGH THE CLUTCH LINE WHEN YOU HEAR THE NOISE OR THE NOISE STOPS, GO TO REPAIR PROCEDURE. SEE LIKE CASE NUMBER 10091042. *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE ROTORS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WILL NOT WORK UNLESS FULL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED. THE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ROTORS DUE TO WARPING. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED BEFORE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED SINCE OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAVE BEEN CHANGED TWICE. WHEN DRIVING GRINDING NOISE CAME FROM THE BRAKES. ALSO, THE BRAKES PULSATED. THE BACKLIGHT FOR THE RADIO/CD/ENVIONMRNTAL CONTROLS HAS GONE OUT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THE LED TAHT PROVIDES THIS LIGHT IS BUILT INTO THE RADIO AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED. THE HONDA DEALER STATES THE RADIO MUST BE REPLACED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD BUT IS OVER THE MILAGE ALLOMENT TO BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. SO, IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEATING/AC/DEFROST AND/OR CD/RADIO I WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY $750.00 FOR A NEW RADIO, PLUS LABOR. BROWSING THE EDMUNDS.COM REPAIR FORUM I SEE THIS APPEASR TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THERE HAS BEEN OVER 300 POSTS ON THIS ISSUE IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. BECAUSE OF FLAWED ENGINEERING BY HONDA, THE CONSUMER IS REQUIRED TO PAY OVER $750.00 FOR A $1.25 LED THAT BY DESIGN - COMES ATTACHED TO A BRAND NEW RADIO UNIT. CAR WAS RECALLED IN 2004 FOR TRANSMISSION. AT THAT TIME MILEAGE WAS VERY LOW AND TRANSMISSION WAS MODIFIED, NOT REPLACED. ON AUGUST 1, 2005 I TOOK MY CAR TO BARON HONDA, PATCHOGUE NY, DUE TO TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEMS - WHILE ACCELERATING TRANSMISSION WOULD GO INTO NEUTRAL, NOT SECOND GEAR. BARON RETURNED THE CAR THAT EVENING STATING THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING MORNING (AUG 2ND), WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH, UPON EASING UP ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR VIOLENT DROPPED INTO SECOND GEAR, SLOWING IT DRAMATICALLY AND THROWING ME AGAINST THE SEATBELT. AT THE TIME I WAS IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AS I TRIED TO GET TO THE RIGHT AND OFF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER TOWING, HONDA CITY, LEVITTOWN, NY, DIAGNOSED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HONDA REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION (OVER WARRANTY AT 44,000 MILES) UNDER THEIR GOODWILL PROGRAM. DESPITE THIS I FEEL THAT I WAS PLACED IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO BOTH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND THE FIRST DEALERS FAILURE TO PROPERLY EVALUATE AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS (RECALLS, ROCKING DRIVER SEAT, CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE) AND LACKS THE QUALITY OF MY PREVIOUS HONDA VEHICLES.*JB

THE TRANSMISSION ON MY ACCORD WAS PART OF THE RECALL TO INSPECT THE 2ND GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION START TO SLIP ON THE MONTH OF JUNE IN 2005. THEN IT GOT WORST A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE AND LATER STALL COMPLETELY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR AFTER I RESTART THE ENGINE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FIRST THEY DIDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY FINALLY FIND THE PROBLEM AND NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT. *NM
LCD DISPLAY FOR CD/RADIO/ENVIRONMENTALS/TIME IS DARK AND BARELY VISIBLE. I AM TOLD THE RADIO IS MALFUNCTIONING AND NEEDS REPLACED. RADIO WAS REPLACED 15 MONTHS AGO. I WAS INFORMED NEW RADIO WOULD COST 990.00 PLUS LABOR.
THE BACK LIGHT WENT OUT IN CENTER CONSOLE DISPLAY (RADIO, CD PLAYER, & A/C DISPLAYED THERE), MAKING THE CONSOLE LOOK LIKE IT WAS TURNED OFF. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING CAUSED BY THE RADIO AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THANKFULLY MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THEREFORE THE DEALERSHIP MADE THE REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME WHEN THE PART CAME IN 1 WEEK LATER. THE CENTER CONSOLE DISPLAY IS NOW FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6, THE DISPLAY LIGHT FOR THE RADIO PANEL WENT COMPLETELY DARK. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ONLY 20 MOS. AND DO NOT FEEL THAT THIS MALFUNCTION SHOULD OCCUR ON A NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 5 YRS. OWNERSHIP. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AFTER THE LIGHT WENT OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE BEGINNING TO SEE A HIGHER NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PARTICULAR MALFUNCTION/DEFECT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY BETWEEN $500 AND $600 FOR EITHER A NEW RADIO UNIT OR THE TUNER (INITALLY TOLD IT WAS JUST A BULB BUT THE SERVICE MGR TOLD THE OTHER SERVICE PERSON THAT THE ENTIRE RADIO UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED).
DRIVING ALONG HWY 94 IN ST. CHARLES MO AND HEARD A NOISE FROM MY CAR AND THEN I HAD NO POWER TRAIN, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. IT WAS LIKE I WAS IN NUETRAL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ONE HITTING ME. TOWED IT TO ED NAPLETON HONDA DEALER IN ST. PETERS MO 63376.
DT: WHILE DRIVING, SWERVED TO MISS ROAD DEBRIS, NOT FOR SURE IF HIT ANYTHING. BOTH PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH NO WARNING, CAUSING SKIN LACERATION, BUMP ON HEAD, AND RINGING IN THE RIGHT EAR. IF CONSUMER DID STRIKE SOMETHING ON THE ROAD IT WOULD HAVE HIT THE UNDERCARRIAGE WITHOUT ENOUGH FORCE TO CAUSE THIS DEPLOYMENT. *AK
