Car revs up at a stop sign, red light, heavy traffic, recently when making right turn. While in heavy traffic, stop and go barely moving, car stopped with foot on brake, traffic not moving, car revved up extremely high, the harder I stepped on the brake the higher it revved up, as cars started to move I took my foot off the brake, car jerked forward fast and I hit another car. No injuries, no major damage. Have taken car twice to mechanic, can’t find anything. Called Honda dealer same day of incident and brought in the car the following morning for diagnostic test, received phone call some hours later and told they can’t find anything wrong. There have been no warning lamps, and it happens unexpectedly. It’s happened before but very low and you can drive for months with nothing happening. I’ve been driving all year but this last time was different and happened 7/8 times. Found out on the internet there have been 10 recalls in 2019 one was for Accelerator Pedal May Bind/FMVSS 124, but I’ve never received notification on any of the 10 recalls.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, there was a misfire coming from the engine with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the spark plug in cylinder #5 had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
WAS DRIVING ON MAIN ROAD OF SUBDIVISION AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST A LOT OF POWER. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH EVEN WHEN PRESSING ON ACCELERATOR. ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR STOPPED WORKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY THE FUEL CAP, WHICH WAS PURCHASED AT THE DEALER (RUSSELL & SMITH HONDA, 2900 S LOOP W, HOUSTON, TX 77054). THE CONTACT HAD AN INDEPENDENT TECHNICIAN REPLACE THE FUEL CAP, BUT THE ENGINE INDICATOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER (GILLMAN HONDA, 10595 W SAM HOUSTON PKWY S, HOUSTON, TX 77099) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED IN 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,136.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS A SPARK PLUG BLEW INTO THE ENGINE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, WE WERE GOING NO MORE THAN 50MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY JUST SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CUT ON . HAVE TAKEN IT TO A NEARBY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE SPARK PLUG FLEW OUT OF PLACE AND THE ENGINE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED. LAST YEAR IN 2016 THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED.
A WEAK POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE LEAK IS A FIRE HAZARD & MAY HAVE A RECALL...PER MECHANIC ON 7/26/16 CAR HAS 101,000 MILES. I JUST BOUGHT CAR 6/16 & TOOK IN FOR OIL CHANGE. I AM LEERY OF DRIVING CAR VERY FAR SO CHECKING FOR RECALL BEFORE INVESTING ANY FURTHER.
I WAS LEAVING HOME ON JULY 7TH AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON JUST AFTER I PULLED OUT. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND STAYS ON. TESTING BY KIA SERVICE CENTER DONE ON JULY 13TH SAYS THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS GOING OUT AND REPAIRS WILL COST OVER $2,000 AND WILL STOP MOVING WHEN IT GOES OUT. THERE IS NO WAY TO ESTIMATE HOW LONG BEFORE IT BREAKS DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR AND MAINTAINED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THEN THE LIGHT CAME ON. RESEARCH SHOWS THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2003 - 2004 HONDA ACCORD THAT OCCURS BEFORE 60,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS A DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE ALSO.
SPARK PLUG IN CYLINDER #4 WAS BLOWN OUT WHILE GOING FREEWAY SPEEDS, DESTROYING THE IGNITION COIL AND ENGINE COVER AND DENTING THE HOOD. THE EJECTED SPARK PLUG LANDED IN THE FRONT BUMPER /PASSENGER FENDER IGNITING A FIRE!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VIBRATIONS INCREASED, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,300.
2007 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VSA AND ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON THEN VEHICLE LOST POWER. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPEED WENT DOWN FROM 65 MPH TO 20 MPH. HE TRIED TO STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR TO REGAIN SPEED, BUT TO NO AVAIL. SO, HE DECIDED TO TURN OFF A RAMP TO PREVENT ANY ACCIDENT. A WEEK PRIOR, HIS WIFE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. HIS WIFE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY STATED THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE UPDATED, AS THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *JB

2007 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 COUPE. FIRST FAILURE INCIDENT CAME AT AROUND 88,000 MILES ON THE CAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID IT WAS DUE TO AN OXYGEN SENSOR BANK 2 SENSOR 1. REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR AND THE CODE DISAPPEARED. AT ABOUT 96,000 MILES THE SAME ERROR CODE CAME ON. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS COMMON AMONGST THIS MODEL ACCORD AND ENGINE V6. AFTER ABOUT 5,000 MILES OF DRIVING ON THIS CODE WITH A NEW OXYGEN SENSOR, THE CEL(CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) FLASHED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN ABOUT 70 DEGREE WEATHER AND TRAVELING AT 65 MPH. AFTER PULLING OVER TO CHECK THE CAR, THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK HAD BLOWN COMPLETELY OUT OF CYLINDER NUMBER 5..(ANOTHER COMMON ISSUE FOR 2007 HONDA ACCORD V6). HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR COSTS, BUT THE ENTIRE ENGINE WILL NOW HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OUT FOR THIS AS IT WILL NOT CAUSE ME TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE. I WILL BE CALLING HONDA AS WELL TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL BE DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS PASSING A CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY DOING 75 MPH AND THE ENGINE SENT AN ERRANT SIGNAL TO THE SPARK PLUG CAUSING IT TO GRENADE . THIS SENT PIECES INTO THE ENGINE DESTROYING IT. THIS HAPPENED WITH ONLY 47000 MILES ON THE 3.0 VTEC V6 MOTOR. THE FIRST MOTOR BLEW THE EXACT SAME WAY. THE PREVIOUS YEAR I WAS STUCK IN A SNOW BANK SO I WAS PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE THEN REVERSE TO ROCK THE CAR OUT OF THE SNOW BANK AND THE ENGINE SENT AN ERRANT SIGNAL TO THE SPARK PLUG CAUSING IT TO GRENADE . THIS SENT PIECES INTO THE MOTOR DESTROYING IT. HONDA REPLACED THE FIRST MOTOR BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY BUT WOULDN'T REPLACE THE SECOND MOTOR BECAUSE IT WASN'T UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENED WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON THE MOTOR. I WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE A USED CAR SO I COULD GET TO WORK AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T GIVE ME ANYTHING FOR TRADE-IN FROM THEIR PIECE OF JUNK ACCORD. *TR
I WAS PASSING A CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY DOING 75 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SENT TOO STRONG A CURRENT TO THE SPARK PLUG WHICH GRENADED IT. THIS SENT PIECES INTO THE ENGINE DESTROYING IT. THE ENGINE IS HONDA'S 3.0 VTEC V6. THE ENGINE HAD LESS THAN 50000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE FIRST ENGINE BLEW THE SAME WAY WHEN THE MOTOR GRENADED THE SPARK PLUG AT 53000 MILES. HONDA REPLACED THE FIRST ENGINE BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. HONDA OF CASPER WYOMING WOULD NOT REPLACE THE SECOND MOTOR BECAUSE THE FACTORY WARRANTY WAS UP. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR THEM NOT TO STAND BY A MOTOR WHEN IT HAS LESS THAN 50000 MILES AND THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE FIRST ENGINE AND MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. I WAS FORCED TO BUY A USED CAR SO I COULD GET TO WORK AND WAS NOT GIVEN ANY TRADE IN VALUE. I EVEN HAD TO PAY FOR THE TEAR DOWN ON THE BLOWN MOTOR . *TR
HONDA ISSUED TWO (2) TSBS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C): 07-075 (11/02/2007) AND 08-046 (07/18/2008) AND A/C HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. *TR
I OWN 2007 HONDA ACCORD SE 2.4L, THIS CAR GIVES 10 TO 12MPG, IN CITY AND 15MPG ON HIGHWAY, AND I HAVE REPLACED IGNITION COILS, SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL INJECTORS BUT I HAVEN'T FOUND THE RESOLUTION YET, HONDA DOESN'T CARE AT ALL, VISITED DEALER AT LEAST TEN TIMES, BUT HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. *TR
2007 ACCORD, DEALER SAID A/C COMPRESSOR WAS OVER CHARGED AND SENT METAL FRAGMENTS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. COST $2,700 TO REPAIR. THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS SERVICED THIS VEHICLE IS WOLFCHASE HONDA IN BARTLETT, TN. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON, THEN OFF. WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHO FOUND NOTHING WRONG. A WEEK LATER, THE LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF AGAIN. ANOTHER TRIP TO THE MECHANIC AND THEN TO THE DEALER REVEALED THAT A SPARK PLUG HAD COME LOOSE AND BROKE APART CAUSING THE CYLINDER HEAD, CYLINDER WALL AND PISTON TO BE DAMAGED. THE FIX WAS THAT THE CAR BASICALLY NEEDED A NEW ENGINE (REPLACED SHORT BLOCK, CYLINDER HEAD, ALL SPARK PLUGS AND ALL NECESSARY GASKETS AND SEALS). DUE TO THE NUMBER OF MILES ON THE CAR (69K AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT), IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. EVERYONE FROM THE MECHANIC TO THE DEALER SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. HONDA DID END UP PAYING FOR A PERCENTAGE OF THE REPAIR, BUT OUR PORTION WAS STILL AROUND $2500. THIS WAS OUR FIRST HONDA, WE BOUGHT IT BASED ON REPUTATION AND BECAUSE WE PUT A LOT OF MILES ON CARS. WE NEVER EXPECTED TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT THREE YEARS OLD.
