HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS FLICKER WHILE DRIVING WITH THE A/C ON.*TR
WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WITH THE TEMP CONTROL ON, MY HEADLIGHTS DIM / FLICKER ABOUT EVERY 20-30 SECONDS. THE DEALER SAID THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE SINCE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS AN 08 HONDA ACCORD 4CYL EX-L. HONDA IS NOT GIVING ME ANY INFORMATION ON THIS AND NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE TO MY SATISFACTION. THE NUMBER OF FAILURES IS OVER 40 AS THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN MAKING TURNS THE CAR SURGES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT DID NOT WORK. ALSO, THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY DIED AND WAS REPLACED TEN TIMES UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE ELECTRIC WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. GWINNETT PLACE HONDA (3325 SATELLITE BLVD, DULUTH, GA 30096, (678) 274-6206) DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNCOVERED FUSE CAUSED THE FAILURES. IN ADDITION, THE SUN ROOF MALFUNCTIONED AND THE REMOTE CASING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTENDED 75,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED BY FIVE MILES; THEREFORE, THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FUSE ON HER OWN, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS), 16V056000 (AIR BAGS), AND 09E063000 (EQUIPMENT); ALTHOUGH, THE DEALER STATED OTHERWISE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD ON 10/16/07. AT 412 (10/30/07) MILES I HAD SEVERE BRAKE SQUEAL THAT ONLY OCCURRED UNDER LIGHT TO MEDIUM BRAKING. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR ROTORS WERE GLAZED OVER (AS IF THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ON - WHICH WE DO NOT USE). THEY MACHINED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS. AT 1441 (11/30/07) THE REAR BRAKE SQUEAL WAS BACK. THE DEALERSHIP THEN REPLACED THE ROTORS AND SCUFFED THE PADS (PER HONDA'S DIRECTION). AGAIN AT 2332 (1/22/08) I TOOK IT IN FOR BRAKE SQUEAL. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SQUEAL WAS NOT LOAD ENOUGH TO DETERMINE WHERE IT WAS AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A FIX EVEN IF THEY COULD FIND IT. THEY TOLD ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT GOT LOUDER. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT CONTINUED TO SQUEAL WITH EVERY BRAKING ATTEMPT. AT 16589 (2/20/09) I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN TO SEE IF THEY HAD A FIX. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE METAL (ONLY THE INNER PADS ON BOTH SIDES), THE ROTORS WERE GOUGED AND THE DUST BOOTS HAD MELTED OFF ALLOWING DIRT TO GET INTO THE PISTONS AND LEAK BRAKE FLUID. THIS WAS NOT DETECTED DURING MY NORMAL TIRE ROTATIONS. THEY REPLACED THE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS AND TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE BACK (DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AS PREMATURE REAR BRAKE FAILURE). FOUR DAYS AFTER I GOT THE CAR BACK THE SQUEAL WAS ALSO BACK. OUR CAR IS TYPICALLY DRIVEN BY MY WIFE WITH OUR 15 MONTH OLD SON IN IT. I AM WORRIED THAT SINCE THE SQUEAL IS ALWAYS THERE THAT THE DETECTION LEVEL FOR THIS FAILURE IS VERY LOW. I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND AM WORRIED ABOUT MY WIFE AND SON ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE COMPLAINT WITH ALL CARS MANUFACTURED (NEW AND OLD) IN THE LAST 90 DAYS. PLEASE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATE THIS SAFETY ISSUE ON THE 2008-2009 HONDA ACCORDS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD (NA). THE CONTACT HEARD A CRACKING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE MUST HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTLY TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM VEERING TO THE LEFT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR STRUTS FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BOLT AND STRUT; HOWEVER, THE CRACKING NOISE STILL PERSISTS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 500. UPDATED 11/20/07 *TR
HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS AS WELL AS INTERIOR LIGHTS, ALL LIGHTS DIM AS COMPRESSOR AND COOLING FAN ENGAGE. CAUSING BRAKE LIGHTS TO APPEAR AS BEING APPLIED, ALSO CAUSING HIGH / LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, SHE HEARD A CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, SHE SMELLED PROPANE FUMES WHEN SHE TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITION. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AS OF FEBRUARY 25, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND CURRENT 6,500. HEADLIGHTS / ALL LIGHTS FLICKER ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS WHEN A/C COMPRESSOR CYCLES WHILE USING DEFROSTER OR AIR CONDITIONING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BURNED OIL FASTER THAN NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING OIL FASTER THAN NORMAL BUT STILL IN ACCORDANCE WITH INDUSTRY STANDARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS AND BRAKE ROTORS BEGAN FUNCTIONING AT A HIGHER TEMPERATURE THAN NORMAL WHICH CAUSED THE REAR BRAKES TO PREMATURELY WEAR DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED HIM TO CONTACT THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE IN LOUISIANA IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A REFUND ON THE BRAKE PADS DUE TO A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT THAT WAS SETTLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
MOTOR SHUTS DOWN REGARDLESS OF SPEED AND CAN SOMETIMES BE RESTARTED BY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH KEY FORWARD TO RESTART IF POSSIBLE WHILE ON ROADWAY. OTHERWISE, MUST EXECUTE A QUICK RESPONSE TO LOSING POWER BRAKING, STEERING AND ETC. AND DRIVE TO SAFETY AT OFF ROAD LOCATION. UPON REMOVING THE IGNITION KEY FROM SWITCH MODULE, THE METAL KEY WAS EXTREMELY HOT, STARTING ENGINE BACK UP OFTEN WAS NOT POSSIBLE UNTIL IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY COOLED DOWN. THIS OCCURRENCE PUT AN UNREASONABLE RISK ON OCCUPANTS DUE POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, REJECTION OF APPLYING RECALL TO MY VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE SITUATION WAS EXACTLY IDENTICAL TO RECALL BY HONDA DEALER, WHO REPLACED SWITCH AT MY EXPENSE AND REFUSED TO CONSIDER THAT RECALL APPLIED TO THE IGNITION UNIT AS NOT ON RECALL LIST. I QUESTIONED SENSIBILITY OF THIS AS MY CAR'S IGNITION SWITCH WAS MALFUNCTIONING EXACTLY AS THE IGNITION SWITCH UNDER RECALL. DUE TO DEALER'S DISPOSAL AND INABILITY TO RETRIEVE REPLACED ITEM, UNABLE TO COMPARE PART NUMBER TO HONDA'S LIST OF BAD SWITCH COMPONENTS. I HAVE PLACED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA MOTORS U.S.A., CASE #[XXX] WHICH WAS REJECTED DUE THAT THEY DON'T SHOW VIN# IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I QUESTIONED THIS WITH THEM AS RECALL AND ACTUAL EVENTS OCCURRING WITH MY AUTO WERE IDENTICAL. THEY ADVISED THAT REFUND OF THE $184.74 FOR REPLACING THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE EVEN THOUGH PROBLEM WAS IDENTICAL WITH RECALL AS MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED. *TR
LETTER REGARDING THE SAFE OPERATION OF HIS 2008 HONDA ACCORD, FEELS THE FLICKERING HEAD LIGHTS PRESENTS A SAFETY PROBLEM OTHER DRIVERS MAY INTERPRET AS AGGRESSIVE DRIVING. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED EVERY 30 SECONDS. *JB
2008 HONDA ACCORD REAR BRAKES WORE OUT. CONSUMER STATES THAT HONDA HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE ROTORS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THERE WAS A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE/SHE WAS NOT SURE WHETHER THE SQUEAKING NOISE WAS DUE TO THE CORROSION OR THE BRAKES PADS BEING WORN. *JB UPDATED 07/08/10.*JB

LETTER FROM SENATOR WARNER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BRAKES ON HER 2008 HONDA ACCORD *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR BRAKES WERE OUT PREMATURELY AND THE ROTORS WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED. TO DATE, THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED TWICE BY THE HONDA DEALER. *JB
2008 HONDA ACCORD: AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT SENSOR ACTIVATED AND STAYED ON. LOCAL DEALER IN MARYLAND ADVISED THE SRS MODULE NEEDS REPLACEMENT ($700 COST). DEALER ALSO STATED THEY ARE "NOT SURE IF THE AIR BAGS WOULD WORK PROPERLY" WITHOUT REPLACING THE SRS MODULE. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS INVOLVING SRS MODULES THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT AS A RESULT OF AN ACTIVATED AIR BAG WARNING SENSOR FOR THE 2008 HONDA ACCORDS (IE. WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM). BASED ON THIS RECURRING ISSUE, THIS ITEM IS BELIEVES TO BE A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE PART THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND DIRECTLY AFFECTS THE OPERATION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THIS ALSO MEANS THAT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE PASSENGERS AND OPERATORS ARE IN JEOPARDY AND POTENTIALLY FACE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. ON APRIL 3, 2015 I SPOKE WITH A HONDA USA REPRESENTATIVE AND INFORMED THEM OF THE RECURRING ISSUE. I SUGGESTED A RECALL AND CONVEYED MY CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL AFFECTED OPERATORS.
