FUSE COVER FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING AND GOT CAUGHT UNDER BRAKE PEDAL WHICH CAUSED A MINOR ACCIDENT. CONSUMER COULD NOT APPLY BRAKE PEDAL. *AK
THIS AND OTHER HONDAS I OWN CONSISTENTLY MISREPRESENT THE SPEED AT WHICH THE CAR IS ACTUALLY TRAVELLING. I USED TO BE INADVERTENTLY CAUGHT IN THE PASSING LANE GOING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT, ONLY TO HAVE OTHER DRIVERS RIDE ON MY REAR BUMPER. I FINALLY HAD THE SPEEDOMETER CHECKED ON THIS CAR WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR AN EMISSIONS TEST. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE; IN ADDITION IT SMACKS OF OUTRIGHT FRAUD SINCE IT APPEARS THAT HONDAS GET BETTER GASOLINE MILEAGE THAN THEY DO, AND THEY RUN OUT OF WARRANTY SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES SOONER THAN THEY SHOULD. IT ALSO CAUSES EXTRA MILEAGE FEES TO KICK IN SOONER FOR THOSE WHO LEASE.*AK

TWO SCREWS LOOSENED, ALLOWING THE HANDLE USED TO SHIFT BETWEEN PARK, REVERSE, N, DRIVE, ETC. TO COME OFF WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 490. I DROVE TO A GAS STATION, APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE, AND REATTACHED THE HANDLE MYSELF. HOWEVER, IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INTO "DRIVE" AND TRAFFIC WOULD BE BLOCKED OR AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. IF VEHICLE WAS IN "DRIVE" IN AN URBAN AREA WHERE ONLY PARALLEL PARKING (NO LOTS) EXISTS, SHIFTING INTO REVERSE (TO PROPERLY BACK INTO SPACE) WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE AND VEHICLE MIGHT HAVE TO STOP IN A TRAFFIC LANE FOR TO BE REPAIRED IN THE STREET OR TO BE TOWED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 60-65 AN AS A RESULT OF CRASH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

IN REGARDS TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACK--- I NOTICED AN EXHAUST SMELL COMING INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS SLIGHTLY LOUDER THAN USUAL. I GOT USED TO THE SMELL BUT NOW I JUST GET HEADACHES. I FIGURED IT NEEDED A NEW EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET BUT UPON FURTHER INSPECTION BEFORE BUYING A GASKET, I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHERE THE PIPES COME TOGETHER UNDER THE HEAT SHIELD. THE CRACK LOOKS LIKE IT STEMS OUT IN DIFFERENT WAYS FROM THE OXYGEN SENSOR; IT IS PROBABLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN. I FIGURE THAT IT PROBABLY IMPAIRS THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE OXYGEN SENSOR THUS ALTERING EMMISSIONS. I CONTACTED HONDA AND FOUND OUT THAT A NEW EXHAUST MANIFOLD COSTS OVER $700 DOLLARS JUST IN PARTS, WHICH I CANT AFFORD. I FOUND THAT HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES ON THE 1997 MODELS DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THE 2002 HONDA CIVICS' ARE EQUIPPED WITH STAINLESS STEEL MANIFOLDS RATHER THAN THE CAST IRON FOUND ON MY CAR, THEREFORE I KNOW HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEMS BEFORE THE CRACK STEMS ALL AROUND AND MY EXHAUST SYSTEM FALLS OFF CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE OR CAUSES ME TO FAIL A SMOG CHECK. IN REGARDS TO THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS, THE BUTTONS DON'T WORK THUS NOT ALLOWING REAR WINDOWS TO BE ROLLED UP OR DOWN.*AK

THE CONSUMER RECIEVED AN INGNITION SWITCH RECALL; NHTSA# 02V120000. THERE WAS NO CHARGE IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INGITION SWITCH, BUT DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE IGNITION REPLACEMENT THE VEHICLES BURGLAR ALARM HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED AND WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE ALARM COMPANY TO HAVE THE ALARM RE-CONNECTED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY 35.00 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE ALARM RECONNECTED AND FEELS THAT HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AMOUNT, BECAUSE THE ALARM WAS WORKING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN. THE CONSUMER SEEKS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS AMOUNT. *SCC *NLM
CONSUMER STATED AFTER HAVING THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED DONE ON THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE REMOTE STARTER WAS NO LONGER WORKING, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL, THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF IT DID NOT WORK AFTER FIXING THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER WAS LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 4 HOURS TO HAVE THE REMOTE STARTER RECONNECTED FOR AT A COST OF 60 DOLLARS, BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAD DESTROYED ALL OF THE WIRES.*JB

MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING OUR FOR A PERIOD OF OVER TWO MONTHS ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I RECENTLY TOOK IT INTO HONDA AND THEY SAID IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY O2 SENSOR. WHY DIDN'T THEY NOTIFY ME WHEN I WAS IN THE OFFICE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM? THEY TOLD ME NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR, NEVER OFFERING THE INFORMATION ABOUT MY IGNITION SWITCH. I EVEN WENT OVER WITH THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY CAR KEPT STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I WOULD SIT A STOP SIGH IT WOULD CUT OFF AS SOON AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT. I FEEL THESE PEOPLE WERE RUDE TO ME BECAUSE I AM A GIRL AND DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS, BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THE TRUTH NO MATTER WHAT GENDER. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER STATES THERE WAS THE SMELL OF THE EXHAUST IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO WAS MAKING A NOISE ACCOMPANIED WITH A RATTLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS

THE CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD A TENDENCY TO CRACK WHICH CAUSED CARBON MONOXIDE TO MIGRATE INTO THE VEHICLE'S PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. *SCC *JB
