I BOUGHT MY 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT. IN LESS THAN A YEAR, I HAD TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, EGR VALVE, FLY WHEEL, AND TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED 7 MONTHS AGO AND THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN: THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS EVERY TIME I PRESS ON THE GAS OR TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, AND WHEN I'M COASTING THE TRANSMISSION CHUGS. *TR
I HAD ALL FOUR TIRE STEMS THAT WENT ON MY CAR BLOW OUT ON 95 A MAJOR HWY. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL UPDATED 9/10/08 *NJ UPDATED 09/11/08*JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VALVE STEM ON THE TIRES CAUSED THE BLOW OUT . UPDATED 09/22/08. *JB
I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION ON 03NOV2007 IN WASHINGTON, DC. THERE WERE 4 VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT, MY VEHICLE A 2003 HONDA CIVIC BEING THE LAST AUTOMOBILE IN THE SERIES. THE CRASH RATE OF SPEED WAS FROM ABOUT A 55MPH TO 0MPH. NEITHER MY OR MY PASSENGERS AIRBAG DEPLOYED RESULTING IN ONGOING INJURIES OF THE NECK AND SPINE. MINE REQUIRING SURGERY AND ABSENTEEISM FROM WORK. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME KIND OF INVESTIGATION ON WHY THEY DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I OWN A HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 2003. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK (JUDDER') UPON ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED, AND THEY 'BURNISHED' THE TRANSMISSION AND SAID TO COME BACK IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE PERFORMANCE WAS FINE FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES, WHEN THE JUDDER RETURNED. ONCE AGAIN, I WENT BACK AND THEY PERFORMED A SECOND BURNISHING. THE PROBLEM HAS SINCE RETURNED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT A STEADY 60MPH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTED FROM 5TH GEAR TO 2ND GEAR WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATIONS OF ANY KIND. THIS ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL REPAIR IN 2004 FOR A KNOWN TRANSMISSION FAULT BUT THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. THE INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING A 2003 HONDA CIVIC SI RECENTLY. HE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE WHICH TOTALED THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS SEVERE FRONT END DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAGS BUT THEY DID NOT DEPLOY. HE AND HIS PASSENGER WERE RESTRAINED BY THE SEATBELTS AND HAD ONLY MINOR BRUISING FROM THE ACCIDENT. *TR
FRONT AIR SPOILER ON OUR 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WILL DETACH FROM VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. SPOILER, AT BEST, LOOSELY CONNECTS TO CAR. FURTHER, THE DESIGN OF THE SPOILER IS SO LOW THAT IT WILL SCRAPE CURB STOPS AND ORDINARY DRIVEWAYS FURTHER EXACERBATING THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MALFUNCTIONED; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. HONDA ALSO MAILED HIM A NOTICE REQUESTING TO RANDOMLY TEST HIS VEHICLE TO MEASURE THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS PERFORMANCE. HE HAS FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. HE HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,100.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT HAS LOCKED TWICE. THE RELEASE BUTTON FAILED TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO FREE THE PASSENGER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS CHILDPROOF AND WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE DEALER ORDERED A NEW SEAT BELT AND WILL REPLACE THE CURRENT ONE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND PULLEY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WHILE THE CAR IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD. *TR
THIS CAR FAILS TO START. HAD BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD EVERY THING WAS OK. ON 27 AUG 2005 THIS CARS ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING DOWN HILL. WHEN IT WAS TOWED TO DEALER . I WAS TOLD THE MAIN BATTERY WAS DEAD.
I HAVE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH A 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID CVT TRANSMISSION. IT OCCASIONALLY BUCKS WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AND GEARS "BURNISHED". I AM AFRAID THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GET WORSE. MY BROTHER'S 2003 CIVIC HYBRID ALSO EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE PROBLEM IN JULY MY DEALER WILL ONLY TELL ME THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. *TR
THIS WAS ALSO FILED UNDER THE GENERAL HEADER POWERTRAIN, BUT SINCE I SAW MORE COMPLAINTS HERE I THOUGHT I SHOULD FILE IT HERE INSTEAD AS THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE STRENGTHS IN NUMBERS AND THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY CAR HAS BEEN SHUDDERING/BUCKING/SLIPPING. IT STARTED BEFORE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WITH ALL OF THE STORIES I HAVE READ IT HAS BECOME CLEAR TO ME THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE WAS A WAY OF STALLING THE CONSUMER UNTIL THE WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT. I TOOK MY CAR IN, HAD THE FLUID FLUSHED AND IT TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS DONE A SECOND TIME AND AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT A THIRD TIME. EACH TIME THERE WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. NOW THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME DANGEROUS. THE CAR HESITATES, RACES AND BUCKS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AS I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL QUIT ON ME WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE CAR WILL STALL IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IN CONGESTED CITY DRIVING WHERE QUICK TURNS ARE FREQUENTLY NECESSARY. I AM NOT A RISK TAKER AND I AM STILL HESITANT TO MAKE TURNS EVEN WHEN THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR A HIGHLY CONSERVATIVE PERSON SUCH AS MYSELF. *TR
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER WITH A SLIPPING/SHUDDERING PROBLEM. THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. THE PROBLEM RE-CURRED AND I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN. AGAIN THEY CHANGED THE FLUID. BY THE THIRD TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK A THIRD TIME, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW I AM FINDING OUT, ONLY AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE MYSELF, THAT THE BELT IS THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE ISSUE IS CONSISTENT WITH 2003 TO 2005 MODELS. THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING WORSE AND NOW MY CAR IS BUCKING WHEN I TRY TO START OUT FROM A STOP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE FEAR OR THE CAR STALLING AT INOPPORTUNE TIMES AND I AM DISTRACTED BY THE ISSUE. *TR
MY 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID (HCH) WITH ITS CVT TRANSMISSION (52,500 MILES) EXHIBITS SEVERE BUCKING, HESITATION AND LURCHING. DURING LOW SPEED MANEUVERING IN A PARKING LOT OR TURNING A CORNER, LESS THAN 20 MPH, THE CAR WILL LURCH AND BUCK. IT WILL BECOME SO PRONOUNCED AND VIOLENT THAT THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD AND YOUR HEAD WILL HIT THE HEADREST. I TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA OF TYSON?S CORNER IN VIRGINIA IN EARLY AUGUST 2007 AND THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE CVT FLUID. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. NOW IN SEPTEMBER 2007 THE ISSUE IS BECOMING WORSE AND A LURCHING OR SLIPPAGE IS NOTICED AT SPEED UP TO 50 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND THEY CONFIRMED A MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT DUE TO LACK OF TECHNICAL INFORMATION THEY WERE NOT EQUIPPED TO REPAIR THE CVT. THEY ALSO REPORTED THAT NO ENGINE TROUBLE CODES WERE DETECTED. SEARCHING THE INTERNET IT APPEARS OTHER HCH OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ONLY FIX SEEMS TO BE REPLACING THE CVT FLUID PROGRESSING TO REBUILDING OR REPLACING THE CVT WITHOUT CORRECTING THE CORE PROBLEM. YOU JUST END UP WITH A TRANSMISSION WITH THE SAME TECHNOLOGY DOOMED TO FAILURE AGAIN. I AM AFRAID THAT HONDA IS NOT HELPING THE DEALERS FIX THE DEFECT AND INSTEAD JUST TAKING A BAND AID APPROACH. *JB
WINDOW SWITCH MELTDOWN HAPPENS IN EARLIER HONDA CIVICS. I RECENTLY READ THAT HONDA WAS RECALLING CARS FOR A WINDOW MASTER SWITCH THAT MELTED WHEN IT GOT MOISTURE IN IT LIKE WHEN IT RAINS WITH THE WINDOW DOWN. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR YEARS. MY 2003 CIVIC MELTED AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE THREE YEARS AGO AFTER A LITTLE MOISTURE. WHERE WAS THE RECALL BACK THEN IF WE WERE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? *TR
MY 2003 HONDA HYBRID HAS VIBRATIONS WHEN MOVEMENT FIRST BEGINS AND WHEN CLIMBING HILLS AND AFTER READING SOME OF THE STATEMENTS OF OTHERS ON THIS BLOG IT SEEMS MY PROBLEMS ARE THE SAME AS THEIRS. SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME MY PROBLEM IS STARTER CLUTCH, SAME PROBLEMS THE OTHER FOLKS COMPLAINED OF ON THIS BLOG. OTHERS SEEMED TO GET TEMPORARY SATISFACTION WITH BURNISHING CLUTCH AND A CHANGE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID BOTH OF WHICH I PLAN TO DO BECAUSE THAT IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE PRICE OF REPAIRS I WAS QUOTED BY SERVICE TECH. *TR
CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH ME 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID AND THE CONSTANT VELOCITY TRANSMISSION. SLIPPING OR SURGING WHEN ACCELERATING AND BUCKING OR SHIMMY WHEN DECELERATING. HONDA HAS ONLY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT DOES IMPROVE THE SITUATION, ONLY TO RETURN WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. THIS WILL ONLY PUSH MY VEHICLE TO THE END OF IT'S WARRANTY PERIOD WITH NO ANNOTATED ISSUES IN MY VEHICLES RECORDS. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS ONGOING ISSUE AS IT PERTAINS TO HUNDREDS, PERHAPS THOUSANDS OF OWNERS. *AK
2003 HONDA CIVIC WITH STEERING PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD HER TO CONTACT THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR BODY AND SUSPENSION DAMAGE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC-HYBRID. THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD WHEN THE CONTACT REMOVES AND REAPPLIES HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE EGR VALVE WAS FAULTY. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 39,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,500.
A/C CONDENSER LEAKED DUE TO DESIGN FLAW THAT ALLOWS ROAD DEBRIS TO HIT CONDENSER DIRECTLY AND CAUSE DAMAGE, LEAK, AND FAILURE FOR COLD A/C FLOW. *JB
I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 2003. I BOUGHT IT USED AT 63,000 MILES. FOR THE FIRST 10,000 MILES, I HAD NO PROBLEMS. THEN A SLIGHT SHUDDER STARTED TO HAPPEN EACH TIME I MOVED THE CAR FROM A STOP, ESPECIALLY WHEN ON AN INCLINED HILL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH THEY SAID WAS COMPLETELY BLACK. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THIS TIME THEY DID A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND A "BURNISHING' PROCESS. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS, AND I HAD THE PROCESS REPEATED. FINALLY I READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHERS WERE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I GOT HONDA TO PARTIALLY PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT STARTER CLUTCH. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR A FEW MONTHS, THEN RETURNED. NOW I AM PAYING FOR A SECOND STARTER CLUTCH BECAUSE THE SHUDDER IS WORSE THAN EVER. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING ON THE FREEWAY THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING. THE CAR LURCHED , AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T CATCH. LUCKILY, WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO A SAFE STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THEN, THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN FIRST GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. WE LIMPED OFF THE FREEWAY IN FIRST GEAR. *AK
OWN 2003 HONDA CIVIC EX BOUGHT NEW IN NOVEMBER 2002 FROM DCH HONDA OF OXNARD, CA. THREE WEEKS AGO TOOK CAR THERE FOR SRS INDICATOR BEING LIT CONSTANTLY WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. AT TIME OF SERVICE, LIGHT HAD BEEN LIT CONSTANTLY FOR ONE WEEK- NEVER CLEARED. AT SUBJECT DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD AFTER VEHICLE BROUGHT INTO SERVICE AREA, LIGHT NOT LIT. FOUND "NO CODES STORED AT THIS TIME." DON'T KNOW SRS CIRCUITRY DESIGN-UNSURE IF SRS INDICATOR LATCHES UPON FAILURE AND CAN ONLY BE CLEARED BY SOME PROCESS. IF LATCHES, FEEL IT REASONABLE ASSUMPTION THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY SERVICE TECH'S. PRESUME NO DETAILED DIAGNOSTICS PERFORMED, AS WAS NOT CHARGED TYPICAL $95 FOR THAT SERVICE, PER OTHER DEALERSHIP INQUIRY. WILL NOT RETURN TO DCH HONDA AS RECEIVED SUBSTANDARD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DCH AUTO GROUP NOT ANSWERED INQUIRIES CONCERNING NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE05043 (OR OTHER ACTION) APPLICABILITY FOR NO-COST FIX. READ ON INTERNET SEVERAL HONDA/ACURA OWNERS HAVE HAD LIGHT COME ON AND SOME HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO CASCADING REPAIR COSTS (EASTER-EGG TROUBLESHOOTING) IF NO CODES UNCOVERED. HAVE HEARD THAT BATTERY DRAIN MIGHT BE CULPRIT, ALTHOUGH HAVE NO PROBLEM CRANKING VEHICLE AND HAVE LESS THAN 40K MILES. APPRECIATE KNOWING IF NHTSA ACTION EXISTS TO HAVE FIXED W/O CASCADING REPAIR APPROACH. NOTICED YELLOW MODULAR CONNECTORS UNDER FRONT SEATS (PRESUME P/O SRS SYSTEM) EXPOSED AND SUBJECT TO CONTACT W/SLIDING/ROLLING FLOORBOARD ITEMS. POSSIBLY INTERMITTENT, NO FAULT CODE-RELATED LIGHT LATCHES OR IS CONSTANT DUE TO INTERMITTENT CIRCUIT DISCONTINUITY FROM STRESS TO EXPOSED CONNECTORS/CABLING. PROBLEM STILL PRESENT AND NEED TO GET IT REPAIRED PRONTO, BUT CAN'T AFFORD DEALERSHIP EXPERIMENTS WITH MY ONLY CAR. GRINDING WHEN SHIFTING INTO 3RD GEAR UPSHIFT OR DOWNSHIFT ESP WHEN RPMS WHEN GOING INTO 3RD GEAR ARE OVER 3,000 RPM CAR NOW HAS 47K MILES HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER 15K MILES IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. *TR

NOT EVEN 3000 MILES LATER SHUDDER CAME BACK. UNFORTUNATELY, AT THE TIME WAS UNABLE TO AFFORD ANOTHER REPAIR BILL SINCE CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE. NOW SHUDDER IS ACCOMPANIED BY TAPPING NOISE ONLY WHEN IN GEAR, SLIGHT IN REVERSE BUT LOUD WHEN IN DRIVE. *TR
TL* - CONTACT STATED THAT ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 9, 2007 WHILE DRIVING AT 35 TO 40 MPH IN LIGHT HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM UNDER THE 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON, AND TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RPMS WENT UP TO 4000, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, AND WOULD ONLY DRIVE AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR HONDA TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 83,000.*AK
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 CIVIC HYBRID USING CRUISE CONTROL, THE ACCEL/DECEL FEATURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTIONS. I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, USING THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS, AND THEN PRESS THE ACCEL BUTTON AND THE CARS BEGINS TO DECELERATE. I HAVE PAID EXTRA CAREFUL ATTENTION TO BE SURE THAT I AM NOT PRESSING THE INCORRECT BUTTON IN ERROR, AND I AM IN FACT PRESSING THE ACCEL BUTTON, YET THE CAR CONTINUES TO DECELERATE. AT THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, I HAVE TESTED THIS FAILURE AND IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2003 HONDA CIVIC THAT JUST FAILED NEW JERSEY STATE INSPECTION FOR A LOOSE SEAT CONDITION. IT APPEAREDTHAT THISWAS A COMMON FAILURE SINCE THE NEW JERSEY MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENT HAS FAILED 256 HONDAS FOR LOOSE SEATS IN THE LAST 24 MONTHS. I LOOKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ,BUT THERE WERE NONE ON RECORD. I BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY HONDA UNDER DEFECTIVE PARTS OR WORKMANSHIP. THE SEAT ANCHOR BOLTS WERE SECURE.ITWAS THE CHAIR RAIL SYSTEM THAT FAILED SOMEHOW ANDWAS LOOSE. MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY HAD BEEN STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN LOSING COMPLETE POWER STEERING, BRAKES EVERYTHING. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER REPAIR SHOP. DEC 2006. THEY COULD'NT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ON FRIDAY MARCH 15, 2007 MY DAUGHTER WENT FOR CHINESE FOOD. SHE BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE, PROCEEDED TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE RELEASED HER FOOT, AND THE VAN STARTED JERKING THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH AREA WHERE BLINKING SHE LOST ALL POWER THE VAN WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEICLE LANDED IN THE ENTRY WAY OF THE BUSINESS SMASHING ALL GLASS. SHE COULD NOT BRAKE SHE WAS TRAPPED IN THIS VAN.SHE SAID IT LOST ALL POWER SHE HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE TRYING TO STOP. THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN MY 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID TOTALLY GAVE OUT. THIS FOLLOWED MONTHS OF JERKING AND REPEATED TREATMENTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACEMENT AND "REPROGRAMMING.," WHICH STARTED BEFORE 30,000 MILES. EACH TREATMENT SEEMED TO WORK TEMPORARILY, ONLY TO HAVE THE JERKING RETURN, EACH TIME SOONER THAN BEFORE. PURCHASED 2003 CIVIC LX IN JULY OF 2006. HAD 30,000 MILES ON IT. THE DRIVER SEAT HAD A SMALL ROCKING MOTION AS IF IT WAS NOT BOLTED TO THE FLOOR. NEW YEARS DAY, I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND MY CLUTCH STIFFENED. SECONDS LATER THEY RESUMED THEIR NORMAL FEEL BUT MY BATTERY AND TEMP LIGHT CAME ON AND SMOKE/STEAM CAME OUT OF MY HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD...COOLANT RESEVOIR WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY EMPTY AND COOLANT HAD EXPLODED ALL OVER THE ENGINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REVIEW. THEY CALLED AND SAID NO COVERAGE, THEY BELIEVE THAT A ROCK HAD PUNCTURED THE RADIATOR AND HENCE IT WAS NOT A PARTS PROBLEM. SINCE, I HAVE REVIEWED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT ROCKS PUNCTURING CAR INTERNAL PARTS, SPECIFICALLY HONDA'S. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN AND IN OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A DEATH TO CALL ATTENTION TO A COMPANY WHO IS SELLING CARS WHICH ARE NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING CONDITIONS. SINCE I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE FREEWAY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER RIGHT AWAY AND CEASE ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. PARTS AND LABOR WILL COST ME 1000.00 FOR A 3 YEAR OLD CAR THAT WAS BOUGHT WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (WHICH COST A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS AT TIME OF PURCHASE). IN AUGUST OF 2006 MY VEHICLE OVERHEATED FOR THE FIRST TIME. I PROMPTLY TOOK IT IN AND THEY FIXED AN "AIR HOSE LEAK". AFTER THAT MY CAR OVERHEATED EVERY FEW WEEKS WITHOUT WARNING AND AFTER COOLANT HAD BEEN FOUND LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE A NEW THERMOSTAT WAS INSTALLED.
