DT: WHEN THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS PARKED SHE CAME OUTSIDE AND THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED DOWN THE HILL INTO THE WOODS. I AM A 57 YR OLD WHITE MALE DRIVING A 2003 HONDA EX VIN. [XXX] ON RT41 IN THE TAMPA AREA WHEN MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ROAD WAS CLEAR,,CAR CHECKED BY DEALER,,CAR HAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE UNDER OR ON SIDE. HONDA STATES AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY BY THEMSELVES. MINE DID. CAR IS 18 MONTHS OLD BUT HAS 40K ON IT.PURCHASED A $1400.00 HONDA CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT TIME OF PURCHASE. NOT COVERED. BOTH DEALER AND HONDA CARE SUGGESTED I CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY.BOTH WERE VERY DISINTERESTED IN MY PROBLEM. WOULD THEY BOTH FEEL THAT WAY IF IT HAPPEND 20 MINUTES LATER AND A SMALL CHILD THAT I WAS ABOUT TO PICK UP IN MY DAIUGHTER'S CAR POOL WAS SITTING THERE. THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED AN AIR BAG ON/OF SWITCH FOR HER 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. *NM THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THE AIR BAGS BE REMOVED. THE CONSUMER IS 4'11 AND PREGNANT. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A LIST OF PLACES THAT MAY MAKE THE CHANGES. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THROTTLE CABLE BROKE. OWNER WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT AND CALL A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE CABLE. VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. *AK *BF *NM
A CHEMICAL SMELL THAT CAN BECOME SO STRONG THAT IT MAKES ME LIGHT HEADED AND NAUSEATED COMES FROM MY AIR VENTS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TWICE AND THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY CAN'T SMELL ANYTHING. AFTER THEY ARE THROUGH AND I OR MY HUSBAND GET IN THE CAR WE CAN SMELL IT. I FEEL LIKE THE DEALER IS LYING ABOUT BEING ABLE TO SMELL IT BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX IT FOR FREE.. I HAVE TO RIDE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN OR FREEZE WHEN IT IS COLD BECAUSE I CANT TURN ON THE VENTS W/O RESULTING IN THIS HORRIBLE SMELL. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. *JB

THE DOOR HANDLES HAVE CHROME WHICH SPONTANEOUSLY BEGAN TO PEEL AND CONTINUES CAUSING REPEATED PAINFUL AND ALARMING CUTS THAT OVBIOUSLY DISTRACT US FROM DRIVING.*AK
ABS FAILED DURING DRIVE TO WORK. ROADS WERE YET UNPLOWED FROM THE PREVIOUS EVENING SNOWSTORM. ABS FAILED AT 6:30AM, TURNED EAST ON 147TH STREET FROM NORTH ON SAILVIEW. DESCENDING SLIGHT GRADE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED DURING DECENT, VERY SCARY, LUCKILY NO OTHER CARS ON ROAD. TOOK TO DEALER, UNABLE TO FIND FAULT. WHAT GOOD IS A BRAKE SAFETY SYSTEM IF IT FAILS DURING HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS?
OBD CODE 1240 RECURS DESPITE REPLACEMENT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND REPROGRAMMING OF COMPUTER. IT SEEMS TO BE TRIGGERED BY EXTENDED HIGH SPEED DRIVING. *TR
AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2003 HONDA CIVIC SI. I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A VERY "NOTCHY" AND ROUGH FEELING IN MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION. OCCASIONALLY IT WILL ALSO GRIND GEARS, AND I AM MORE THAN DEFINITE THAT I AM SHIFTING PROPERLY. IT GETS WORSE IN THE WINTER BECAUSE THE CAR WILL HESITATE A LOT WHEN TRYING TO GO IN ANY GEAR. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO HONDA NORTH OF DANVERS, MA FOR THEM TO INSPECT THE PROBLEM, YET THEY FOUND NOTHING TO BE WRONG. THEREFORE, NO ATTEMPTS TO WERE MADE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THIS ISN'T A PROBLEM IN WHICH THEY CAN TRY TO SIMULATE AFTER 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING. I FEEL THAT IF THIS PROBLEM REMAINS, IT WILL BE INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND IS DECREASING THE CHANCES OF DRIVING SAFELY. THE CAR'S SECOND WINTER IS COMING AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. DT: 2003 HONDA CIVIC IS STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON PUBLIC STREETS. THE VEHICLE IS HESITATING/STALLING WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED OR BETWEEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE SPEEDS ARE 0-70 WHEN THE VEHICLE IS HESITATING. THERE IS NO WARNING BEFORE THE CAR DIES. THE VEHICLE HAS SHOWN THE CODE ONCE AND THE CODE SHOWN CYLINDER #1 MISFIRED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STARTED TWICE, AND BOTH TIMES IT HAD TO BE ROLLED AND STARTED BY THE OWNER. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS; THE OWNER THINKS THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS BAD. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS DIFFERENT. THE VEHICLE HAS POWER SURGES. THE OWNER IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE TURNED BACK IN TO HONDA, USING THE REFERENCE TO THE LEMON LAW. THE OWNER HAS PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE OWNER FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CONSISTENTLY GRINDS TRANSMISSION WHEN GOING INTO 2ND GEAR (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS OK AND NORMAL, BUT I KNOW IT IS DAMAGING MY TRANSMISSION. EVEN WITH PERFECT SHIFTING AT A HIGH RPM SHIFT, IT WILL GRIND EVERY TIME.*AK
SINCE I BOUGHT MY PILOT LAST NOV. EVERYTIME I APPLY THE BRAKES, GOING LESS THAN 10 MPH, BUT MORE THAN 5 MPH, MY BRAKES POP VERY LOAD, IT CONTINUES EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING ALL DAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SWAYED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMBER UNIT WAS NOT INSTALLED IN THE REAR OR FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE BROWN'S HONDA CITY SERVICE DEPARTMENT 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 WEEKS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL CHARGE, AND THE ONLY WAY TO RESTART IT IS BY A JUMPSTART. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TWICE THAT IT WAS FIXED, AND THE PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, AND THEY CANNOT FIX THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT HONDA SOLD A CAR TO ME THAT THEY CANNOT FIX. *AK
SPONTANEOUS WINDSHIELD CRACKS, RIGHT LOWER WINDSHIELD AND LEFT LOWER WINDSHIELD AT 13 MONTHS OF PURCHASE AND 15 MONTHS OF PURCHASE CONSECUTIVELY. MILLER HONDA OF WINCHESTER, VA REFUSES TO FIX SAYING THE CRACKS OCCURRED FROM A STRIKE FROM ROCK OR SOMETHING. WEBSITE FOUND CONTAINING SEVERAL C/O HONDA ELEMENT CRACKED WINDSHIELDS. MILLER HONDA STILL REFUSES TO FIX. *AK
THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE IGNITION KEY, BECOMES HOT WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES IT TO BE A FIRE HAZARD. COMPLAINT WENT WITH OUT BEING DOCUMENTED. *TC
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC-HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY FIVE SECONDS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN ENGAGED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON THREE OCCASIONS BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE AN UNFAMILIAR NOISE WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH OR GREATER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THIS FAILURE AS WELL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 45,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING FROM THE MUFFLER, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO GET A SECOND OPINION. THE DEALER MAINTAINED THAT NO DEFECTS WERE FOUND. *AK THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. *SC
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A BRAKE FAILURE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE COMING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD ON WHICH THE VEHICLE CONTINUED ON FOR A FEW FEET BEFORE STOPPING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.*AK
WHILE BACKING OUT VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVER VEHICLE HOME. CONSUMER WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK THE VEHICLE MADE A ROARING NOISE AND WHEN THE CONSUMER SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SPED OFF UNCONTROLLABLY. *SC
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. HOWEVER, WHEN CONSUMERS WENT BACK TO VEHICLE IT WAS IN DRIVE, AND ROLLED BACK INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK THE DEALER REPALCED THE IGNITION LOCK AND SWITCH. THE INTERLOCK AND SHIFTER WERE CHECKED AND BOTH APPEARED TO BE OPERATING AS DESIGNED. *NM
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND HAD PARKED AT A FRIENDS HOUSE WAITING FOR HIM TO COME OUTSIDE AT 10:30PM WHEN HE ENTERED THE CAR I WAS TRYIN TO MAKE A U-TURN AND MY CAR WAS TURNING ON AND OFF ALL BY ITSELF, AND MY WHEEL WAS TURNING TO THE OFF POSITION AS I WAS TURNING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITH NO PRONBLEM. THAT SAME WEEK I WAS DRIVING TO VIRGINIA TO SEE A FAMILY MEMBER AND AS IM DRIVING DOWN I-95 THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND TURNS ON AGAIN FOR BY ITSELF FOR NO REASON, AND I WAS DRIVING AT A STEADY 65 MILES AN HOUR. I THEN CALLED MY HONDA DEALER AND SCEDULED AN APPOINMENT AND THEY HAD IT FOR 3DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY SAID THAT TO BRING IT TO MY ALARM SHOP THAT INSTALLED AND AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEM ON MY CAR, BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I HAD AN AUTO-START FEATURE ON MY ALARM. I TOLD THEM I DIDNT BUT I WOULD TAKE IT ANYWAY JUST TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS DONE WRONG ON THEIR PART. THEY HAD IT FOR 1DAY AND THEY TOO CAME UP WITH NOTHING.THEY SAID IT COULD NOT BE THE ALARM THAT THEY TOOK IT OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN AND NOTHING WAS DONE WRONG.*AK
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT NORMAL SPEED WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR POPPED OUT. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND IT DIDN'T SHOW ANY COLLISION RELATED DAMAGES. THE SERVICE CENTER INFORMED US THAT SOMEONE HIT THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF IT.*AK
I HIT A HORSE ( ABOUT 1,200 POUNDS) IN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS IMMEDIATELY HIT HEAD ON BY A CAR THAT WAS TRAVELING 69 MPH, AGAIN THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN LX. THE CAR WAS TOTALLED. AND HONDA MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO DISCUSS IT WITH ME.*AK
DRIVING ON 4-LANE PAVED HIGHWAY RT 17 IN ESSEX COUNTY VA. OPERATING VEHICLE AT 55 MPH AND HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 2 HOURS FOR A TOTAL OF 80 MILES WHEN THE RIGHT REAR TIRE (FIRESTONE FR 690 P 185/65 R 15 86 H M+S) SIDEWALL SEPARATED ON BOTH SIDES OF TIRE. TIRE IS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 2003 HONDA CIVIC EX PURCHASED 8/23/03 FROM A HONDA DEALER IN WLADORF, MD. THE TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 12500 MILES AND WAS ROTATED BY THE DEALER AND PROPERLY INFLATED AT 10,000 MILE CHECKUP. TIRE WAS IMMEDIATELY REPLACED AND RETAINED BY OWNER. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES BECAUSE OR RECENT COMPLAINTS FILED ON THIS WEBSITE AND RECENT EVENTS WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION IF NECESSARY. *LA
OIL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. *LA WHEN THE OIL WAS CHANGED ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER NOTICED WHEN HE GOT HOME, OIL LEAKED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT OIL COLD HAVE BEEN LEAKING THROUGH THE FRAME AND DROPPING ONTO VITAL PARTS AND THAT THEY WOULD NORMALLY CLEAN THE EXCESS OIL TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY. *SC THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL FILTER FOR THIS VEHICLE WAS LOCATED NEAR THE TOP OF THE ENGINE, BUT BEHIND THE ENGINE. *JB
HONDA CRV VEHICLE FIRES AFTER OIL CHANGES. *MR THE CONSUMER NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT WHEN THE OIL IS CHANGED, OIL WOULD SOMETIME GET TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE LEAK. *SC *JB
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, AND AN APPOINTMENT HAD BEEN SCHEDULED TO INSPECT THE AIR BAGS. *AK *SC *JB
CONSUMER STATED A SMELL OF GAS WAS PENETRATING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. DEALER INDICATED THAT THE GAS USED FROM TEXACO HAD TOO MUCH SULFUR , THUS BURNING OUT THE SENSOR. DEALER DRAINED THE FUEL , CLEANED THE LINE, REMOVED THE SENDING UNIT, AND FILLED THE VEHICLE WITH NEW GASOLINE. HOWEVER PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. *AK
ONGOING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. HAVE REPLACED TRANSMISSION 4 TIMES AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER MOTORIST. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A CUT TO HER HEAD THAT NEEDED STITCHES. *JB
[XXX] ASSEMBLED IN CANADA PURCHASED AS A NEW VEHICLE. 2003 HONDA CIVIC EX MODEL I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2003 AS A NEW VEHICLE. I HAVE PURCHASED A SERVICE CONTRACT AND THE VEHICLE CAME WITH A MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALER WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY FOR THE LIST OF PROBLEMS REPORTED. BRAKES LEAKED FLUID AND WAS IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 6 TIMES. BRAKES HAD TO BE FLOORED FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF PICK UP FROM DEALER ( MARCH 2003) A LETTER 11 PAGES LONG WAS SENT TO MANUFACTURER MAKING THEM AWARE OF THE ALL THE GAUGES ON THE DASH BOARD THAT MALFUNCTION. THE SPEEDOMETER GETS STUCK ON 30 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE SOMETIMES GIVES A READING OF 3/4 TANK FULL WHEN THERE IS NO FUEL. I AM NOT ABLE TO TELL WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AND ESPECIALLY AT NIGHTS I AM NOT ABLE TO TELL IF THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE OR NEUTRAL BECAUSE THE LIGHTS FROM THESE SPECIFIC PARTS DON'T WORK. THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH THE FUSE BECAUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING. THE CONNECTION HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE BATTERY TO GET THESE COMPONENTS TO WORK AGAIN. I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND DON'T HAVE TIME FOR ALL THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE RECEIVED POINTS ON MY DRIVERS LICENSE FOR SPEEDING. THESE PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED MORE THAN A YEAR AGO AND THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS. BESIDES THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE 3 MONTHS AFTER A OIL CHANGE. THOUGH HONDA BLAIMS FAULTY OIL FILTER BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO THE OIL CHANGE. I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH MY SRS LIGHT COMING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PRATICALLY SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP UNDER REPAIR FOR THE SRS LIGHT. STILL 2 YEARS LATER AND I'M TIRED OF GOING BACK. ALL THEY TELL ME IS THAT THEY CHANGE SOME WIRE AND KEEP RESETING THE SYSTEM. THEY ALSO HAVE THE NERVE TO ASK ME IF I PUT A POCKET BOOK ON TOP OFF THE DASHBOARD. SO ANOTHER WORDS NO ONE IS TO BREATH ON TOP OFF THE DASH BOARD OR THE STUPID LIGHT COMES ON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC . THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEYS WOULD COME OUT OF THE IGNITION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SHIFTED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED IN DRIVE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180000.
VEHICLE'S STEERING LOCKED UP RESULTING IN CONSUMER HITTING AN EMBANKMENT. *MR THE STEERING WHEEL SPUN TO THE LEFT AND LOCKED IN THE LEFT POSITION. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE BRAKES. IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE TWO FRONT TIRES WERE BALD. THE SWAY BAR WAS BROKEN AND COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE SPIN OUT. *SC
THE AIR BAGS IN MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY IN A FRONT END COLLISION THAT I WAS INVOLVED IN. IT CAUSED ME TO FLY FORWARD AND INJURE MYSELF, ALMOST HITTING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG-IN DOES NOT WORK IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE PART THAT A CAR REPAIR MAN FIXED. *JB

DRIVER'S SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WITH 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH "PLAY" - CAUSING UN-SAFE FEELING - NOT SECURE AT ALL. DEALER SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT. FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS, AFTER HAVING MY OIL CHANGED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON MY NEW HONDA CIVIC HYBRID, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE WINDSHIELD WASHER SOLVENT TO SPRAY ONTO MY WINDSHIELD. (JANUARY 27/28, 2004) THIS PRESENTED A SERIOUS HAZARD SINCE THE INCLEMENT WEATHER MADE IT NECESSARY FOR ROAD CREWS TO LAY A GEAT DEAL OF SALT AND SAND ON THE HIGHWAYS TO COMBAT THE FREEZING RAIN . I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON THE MORNING OF THE 28TH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE REP SAID I SHOULD GO ACROSS THE THE STREET TO CHERRYDALE AUTO PARTS AND PURCHASE THE YELLOW SOLUTION THAT WAS GOOD TO SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES WHICH I DID. AFTER PUTTING THE NEW SOLVENT IN THE RESERVOIR THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, HOWEVER, WHY IT IS THAT DEALERSHIPS ARE ALLOWED TO USE SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS IN THEIR SERVICE WHICH MAY POTENTIALLY HARM THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CUSTOMER'S FAMILIES. IS IT A POLICY OF HONDA U.S. TO PRODUCE EXCELLENT CARS AND THEN HAVE THE OCCUPANTS KILLED SO THEIR DEALERSHIPS CAN SAVE PENNIES ON THE WINDSHIIEL WASHER SOLVENT THEY USE IN THEIR SCHEDULED SERVICE MAINTENANCE. THERE IS A GOOD REASON THAT THE WIPERS AND THE DELIVERY OF SOLVENT TO THE WINDSHIELD IS PART OF A VEHICLES SAFETY INSPECTION. BROWN'S ARLINGTON HONDA USED SUBSTANDARD SOLVENT THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MY DEATH. I WAS TOLD THAT MANY HAD COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY THEN SENT ME ACROSS THE STREET TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM MYSELF. TRULY THIS IS PENNYWISE AND POUNDS FOOLISH.*AK
POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE CONTAINER FOR THE FLUID RUNS VERY LOW. THE VEHICLE WILL NEED A POWER STEERING RACK WHICH IS A FRONT END PART. I WAS TOLD IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I FEEL UNCERTAIN. TO ASSURE THAT NO OTHER PART WILL GO BAD, IT IS NECCESSARY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM DEALT AND THE PART FIX. ESPECIALLY KNOWING THAT I TRANSPORT MY SON AND NEPHEW TO AND FROM SCHOOL. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ANYTHING CAN TRANSPIRE, EVENTHOUGH I AM TOLD IT IS SAFE. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH DRIVING , BUT IT IS MY VEHICLE AND I NEED TO GET TO WORK, SCHOOL AND DROP MY SON AND NEPHEW TO THIER SCHOOL, ETC. MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BUT SHIFTING IS NOT SMOOTH AND LOTS OF TIMES EVEN "GRIND" INTO 2ND GEAR AT LOW SPEED(DISENGAGE AT ABOUT 3000RPM THEN SHIFT INTO 2ND). FEELS LIKE THE SHIFTER TIRES TO PUSH BACK TO NEUTRAL. ALSO CLUTCH PEDAL DOES NOT RELEASE SO SMOOTH AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF DRIVING, MAKING NOISE WHEN PUSHING DOWN AND "CLICKS" WHEN ENGAGING.*AK
THE CONSUMER USED THE VALET KEY (EXTRA) TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO USE THE ELECTRONIC KEY TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CAN NOT EXPLAIN WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE THAT CAUSED THE KEYS TO BEND OR WHY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO SHUT DOWN. *MR
I BOUGHT MY HONDA CIVIC EX IN 2003 FROM LUTE RILEY HONDA OF RICHARDSON. NOT LONG AFTER BUYING IT, MAYBE 6 MONTHS, A SMALL CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS NOTICED INCIDENTALLY, ALTHOUGH NO DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOTED. THE CRACK EXTENDS ALL THE WAY FROM THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND SINCE I HAVEN'T ATTENDED TO THE CRACK DUE TO JOB SCHEDULE, IT NOW EXTENDS UP MORE THAN HALF THE LENGTH OF THE GLASS. NO POINT OF IMPACT CRATER HAS EVER BEEN NOTICED ANYWHERE ON THE WINDSHIELD. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN CITED HERE ON THIS NHTSA COMPLAINTS AS TO THEIR SIMILAR WINDSHIELD CRACK EXPERIENCE. I WAS PROMPTED TO LOOK INTO THIS NHTSA WEBSITE COMPLAINTS LIST WHEN I NOTICED THAT MANY FRIENDS/RELATIVES WHO PURCHASED HONDA CIVICS OVER THE LAST 4-5 YEARS WERE HAVING A WINDSHIELD CRACK DEVELOP IN THE SAME LOCATION AS MINE. I AM QUITE WILLING TO HAVE A HONDA DEALER VERIFY THE LACK OF POINT OF IMPACT SO THAT THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN AWAY THIS INCIDENCE AS SOME FICITITOUS DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD, ESPECIALLY IN THE FACE OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HERE.
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE IT HAD A TENDENCY TO ROLL BACKWARD OR FORWARD. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN A LOUD POP WAS HEARD. VEHICLE STALLED, AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE IN EITHER DIRECTION. THEN, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. *AK HONDA REPORTED NO PARTS OR TRANSMISSIONS. (HYBRID TRANSMISSION) *SC
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH DRIVER NOTICED THAT DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. PULLED OVER, AND FOUND THAT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY CONSUMED WITH FLAMES WITHIN MINUTES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. *AK
