TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BECAME DETACHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TAMARA RECALL - GETTING THE RUN A ROUND ON GETTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAGS. FIRST, WAS NEVER NOTIFIED, NOW THEY ARE TELLING US THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS AFFECT AND THAT SEEMS VERY STRANGE THAT IT WOULD HAVE DIFFERENT MATERIALS THAN THE DRIVER AIRBAG. VERY UNHAPPY AT THE WAY HONDA IS HANDLING THIS. TELLING US THAT IT TAKES 60 TO 90 DAYS TO GET THE PARTS THAT SEEMS EXTREME. THE WHOLE SITUATION SEEMS LIKE A COVER UP WITH THE PUBLIC BE PUT IN DANGER.

IT IS NOW LATE DECEMBER AND I HAVE LOST THE USE OF MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH NO UPDATE AS TO WHEN THIS WILL BE RECTIFIED. I HAVE OWNED 6 HONDAS AND THIS MAY BE THE LAST. AS OF THIS SUMMER BOTH VISORS ARE EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM WHERE PLASTIC CRACKS, RETENTION CLIPS PROTRUDE, AND VISORS TO NOT HOLD DESIRED POSITION. THIS AFFECTS VISIBILITY OR ABILITY TO OBSTRUCT SUNLIGHT. HONDA NA HAS AGREED TO COVER A SECOND REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY. CASE NUMBER: 01679545.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA DATED JULY 2016 ABOUT PROPELLANT WAFERS DEGRADING AND SAYS THAT "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED". AS OF TODAY, JANUARY 19TH, 2017 THEY DO NOT HAVE THE REMEDY READY YET ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE. THERE WAS A CLASS-ACTION SUIT REGARDING THE HONDA CIVIC 2008'S SUN VISORS. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS SOME TIME AGO. AS I HAD BEEN PARKING IN A GARAGE FOR MOST OF THE TIME, MY VISORS WERE FINE. SINCE I SWITCHED JOBS, AND NOW PARK OUTDOORS DURING THE DAYS, MY RIGHT, PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAS BROKEN AS THE SUIT DESCRIBED. THIS HAPPENED, HOWEVER, AFTER THE DEADLINE FOR THE SETTLEMENT OF THE SUIT. I AM NOW MISSING MY PASSENGER SIDE VISOR AND I EXPECT THE DRIVER SIDE TO FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. IT CAN FALL WHILE I'M DRIVING, WHICH IS DISCONCERTING.
HONDA HAS ISSUES A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048 AND 08-044 THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK OVERHEATS AND CAUSING ENGINE TO CRACK. I AM 3RD OWNER OVER THE CAR AND BOUGHT THE CAR WITH A SALVAGED TITLE ( BECAUSE IT WAS STOLEN) WITH 48,000 MILE ON IT. I HAVE SINCE PUT 54,000 MILE ON IT SINCE I PURCHASED IT AND AM EXPERIENCING MISFIRE AND CRACKING OF ENGINE BLOCK. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY ARE DENYING MY CLAIM FOR THEM TO FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR HAS SALVAGED TITLE EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS NEVER IN A ACCIDENT. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS RIGHT THAT THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS A PROBLEM AND ONLY OFFER WARRANTY EXTENSION TO ORIGINAL OWNER TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT EVERYONE ELSE WHO MAY HAVE SALVAGE TITLE FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER ARE NOT COVERED, EVEN THOUGH ITS HONDA'S FAULT FOR NOT USING GOOD CASTING FOR THE ENGINE BLOCK. I WOULD LIKE TO TRY AND GET HONDA TO ANNOUNCE A RECALL SO THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS SAME PROBLEM CAN GET THEIR CAR FIXED. ADDENDUM: REFERENCE ODI NUMBER: 10748966. AS OF 6/19/2016 MY HONDA CIVIC HAS A RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG (VIN VERIFIED). I AM NOT SUPPOSE TO LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL A HONDA DEALER FIXES IT. SO NOW I HAVE NO AIRBAG AND NO SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE (BECAUSE IT DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY REASON)...I ALSO HAVE A LOADED TIME BOMB ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT HONDA WANTS TO FIX...BUT STILL NO RECALL ON THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG BECAUSE HONDA DOESN'T THINK IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. GANLEY SUBARU OF BEDFORD, OH (GANLEY BEDFORD IMPORTS, INC.) SOLD THIS PRE-OWNED 2008 HONDA CIVIC SI WITH NO TPMS SENSORS. THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, AND GANLEY SUBARU STATED THAT ONLY AN "UPDATE" (TO THE ECU) WAS NEEDED DUE TO A TIRE REPLACEMENT OF ALL FOUR TIRES, WHEN IN REALITY THEY ALLOWED A VEHICLE WITH NO TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SENSORS TO BE SOLD.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN-VISOR SPLIT AT THE REAR EDGE WHILE DRIVING. THIS LIMITED THE MOTION OF THE VISOR CAUSING IT TO BE FLIPPED DOWN WHILE DRIVING OBSCURING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD FOR THE DRIVER. THIS CAUSED DRIVER DISTRACTION.

HONDA SENT ME A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON JULY 2016, OF DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS THAT COULD INJURE OCCUPANT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. NO FURTHER NOTICE RECEIVED ON MY END AND SINCE THEN I WASN'T ABLE TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT.

I CALLED AGAIN 8/16/16 AND WAS TOLD THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER. I LIVE IN TEXAS AND SCHOOL IS STARTING AND I PICKUP MY GRANDCHILDREN FROM SCHOOL SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY IN MY CAR. I AM ANGRY AND DISGUSTED BY MY DEALER'S NONCHALANT ATTITUDE REGARDING THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WATER RESERVOIR HAD TO BE FILLED WITH WATER EVERY DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. TAKATA RECALL, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE CAR FOR SIX MONTHS AND NO ONE WILL REPLACE THE AIR BAG. THIS HAS CAUSED A SEVERE FINANCIAL PROBLEM .
THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG PROBLEM RECOMMENDS NOT HAVING ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT HAS BEEN 9 MONTHS SINCE THIS RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED AND MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER INFORMS ME THAT HONDA STILL HAS NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. LITERALLY THIS DEFECT CAN KILL A PERSON IN THE EVENT OF A LOW SPEED ACCIDENT THAT TRIGGERS THE AIRBAG. THIS IS A LIFE AND DEATH MATTER AND HONDA HAS NOT FIXED IT IN 9 MONTHS! IN ADDITION TO MAKING MY CAR LESS SAFE, THIS DEFECT PRESUMABLY LOWERS THE RESALE VALUE OF MY VEHICLE.

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE 2008 HONDA CIVIC I DISCOVERED THERE WAS A FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY TOOK DOWN MY INFORMATION AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE AIRBAG CAN BE FIXED. THE RECALL LETTER STATES 'IN THE EVENT OF A PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THE RISK OF SUCH OCCURRENCE INCREASES OVER TIME.' IT HAS NOW BEEN A YEAR SINCE I REPORTED THE RECALL AND HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED TO HAVE IT FIXED. DUE TO MY RECENT ACCIDENT WHERE BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, I FEAR THAT I AM IN DANGER AND THIS IS THE CAR THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE DAILY. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING HONDA ABOUT MY CONCERNS AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED. I JUST WANT THEM TO BUY MY UNSAFE CAR BACK FROM ME SO THAT I CAN BUY A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A WHIPLASH THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I NOTICED PAINT WAS REALLY DETERIORATING ON MY WIFE'S CIVIC ON TOP HOOD AND TRUNK. I STARTED A WEB SEARCH ONLY TO FIND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR YEARS. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A HONDA CAMPAIGN TO CORRECT THE ISSUE BUT IT EXPIRED LAST YEAR. I CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEY DID TAKE PICTURES TO HOLD FOR RECORD. I ESCALATED TO HONDA AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO GAVE ME FILE # 4452996 TO HAVE THE ISSUE REVIEWED. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. MANY PHONE CALLS DIRECTLY TO VOICEMAIL WITHOUT RESPONSE FOR DAYS. I WAS TOLD BY RON L. TO GO AHEAD AND SCHEDULE THE SERVICE WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I SAID, "DOES THIS MEAN THE PAINT JOB WILL BE COVERED, AND HE SAID EITHER PART OR ALL SHOULD BE COVERED. BEFORE I GET A CHANCE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, ANOTHER CS AGENT, TONY CALLED AND LEFT ME A MESSAGE STATING THAT I SHOULD CALL HIM RIGHT AWAY REGARDING MY FILE NUMBER. 2ND AGENT ALLED ME AND STATED THAT HIS FIELD REPRESENTATIVE WOULD BE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT THE PICTURES AND MAKE A DECISION. I RECEIVE A CALL FROM TONY YESTERDAY TELLING ME THE CLAIM HAD BEEN DENIED. I ASKED HIM WHY AND HE TOLD ME HE HAD NO INFORMATION ON WHY IT WAS REJECTED AND TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER FOR MORE INFORMATION. THE PAINT IS DETERIORATING EXACTLY HOW THOSE COVERED BY THE CAMPAIGN WERE DETERIORATING. I CAN SEND PICTURES IF HELPFUL.
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON MY HONDA CIVIC PREMATURELY BECAUSE OF "FLAT SPOTS" THAT WOULD APPEAR AND LEAD TO EXTREME NOISE INSIDE THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. I'VE RESEARCHED AND ASKED THE TIRE STORES AND THEY BASCIALLY STATED THAT THEY SEE THIS A LOT IN THE 2008 CIVICS. IF I DIDN'T ROTATE THE TIRES EVERY COUPLE OF THOUSAND MILES THIS WOULD HAPPEN OVER AND OVER. AFTER REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES RECENTLY THE NOISE THIS TIME DID NOT GO AWAY, IN FACT IT WAS EVEN LOUDER THAN IN THE PAST. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'S THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. THIS CAR HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT! I LOOKED UP WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT AND IT SEEMS THERE WAS A FACTOR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR 2006-2007 MODELS, BUT NOT THE 2008. IT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE WHEEL BEARING PROBLEM IN THE 06-07 MODELS LEAD EARLY TIRE WEAR AND TO THE NOISE PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED AS WELL. I'M SURE NOW THAT THE BEARINGS WHERE PROBABLY THE MAJOR PROBLEM FROM THE BEGINNING AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPACED THOUSANDS OF MILES AGO. AGAIN, THIS CAR ONLY HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT. I'M NOT SURE WITH MY 2008 CIVIC DIFFERS FROM THE 06-07 MODELS AND WHY HONDA WILL PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THOSE YEARS BUT NOT MINE? PAINT ISSUES - THE FRONT HOOD OF THE CAR, FRONT FENDER, AND FRONT SIDE FENDERS HAD TO BE REPAINTED DUE TO FAULTY CLEAR COAT ISSUES. THE ROOF HAS THE SAME ISSUE, BUT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY REPAIR WINDOW, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE IS WITH THEIR CLEAR COAT AND NOT MY VEHICLE; MY VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND WELL CARED FOR INCLUDING WASHING AND POLISHING. PICTURES OF THE ROOF ARE PROVIDED WITH NO FILTER OR ALTERATIONS TO THE PHOTOS; THE TRUNK HAS (KNOCK ON WOOD) YET TO SHOW ANY OF THESE ISSUES, BUT WAS ALSO PART OF THIS SAME FAILURE. I DO NOT HAVE ANY PICTURES OF THE HOOD, FRONT/SIDE FENDERS AS THOSE WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY.

RAN OVER A SHALLOW POT HOLE ON A CITY STREET. THE CAR WAS GOING 10-15 MILES PER HOUR (5 FEET AFTER A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN). THE CAR WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT ACROSS A ONE WAY STOP. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED (DID NOT DEPLOY) AND SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING. DAMAGE WAS ALSO NOTED TO THE BASE OF WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.
