Paint on the Vehicle is chipping off and getting oxidized. It started happening an year ago and its never ending. We are able to see the patches almost everywhere on the body of the car.
Intermittent power steering loss. Vehicle would lose power steering sometimes while driving and other times at startup. Very random. For months nothing would happen until all of a sudden eps warning light would come on and power steering wouldn’t engage right away. Now it is permanently on and the power steering does not work at all. This issue started around 65k and complete power steering loss happened at 80k. Definitely scary to think you might lose power steering all of a sudden.
There is a "metal" splash guard (approx. 2ft x 2ft) under the engine that is secured by 4 steel bolts/screws and steel U-Clips. If the metal splash guard falls off it could puncture the gas tank, cut gas and brake lines or take someone's head off. This guard is more than just a piece of thin tin. The Bolts/Clips secure the metal guard to the remaining "plastic" splash guard under the rest of the car (metal probably needed for engine heat reasons). I noticed the missing metal plate after a Honda Dealer's oil change. I thought that they might have accidently forgotten to replace it after the oil change, but was told that was not the case (I got the impression that it was not uncommon for these metal splash guards to fall off). The oil filter and drain plug access requires removal of this metal plate during service. My metal plate fell off due to rusted through bolts/screws because 3 of the metal clips stayed in place and were very rusted. The dealer replacement parts were expensive, something like >> bolts-clips $10 x 4 = $40 plus approx $30 for the metal plate $70 total. Honda had to order the metal plate to be delivered later. Once the plate arrived at the Dealership they contacted me and I went to them, where they replaced the plate for free, but to add insult to injury, the Honda technician used two plastic zip ties instead of steel bolts and clips because they didn't have enough of the correct bolts/clips (should be secured by 4 steel bolts/clips). They never bothered to tell me about the zip ties and I only found out a few days later after looking under my car. I found similar bolts/clips at a Home Depot store and, on a return trip to the Honda Dealer, had Honda replace the 2 zip ties and Honda's 2 bolts/clips with 4 new "Stainless Steel" bolts/S.S. washers and 4 new steel U-Clips (I could not find Stainless Steel U-Clips).
Front passenger seat belt pretensioner (Honda part #HP04814-TR3-A00ZA) deployed too late after a minor impact (<10 mph) causing passenger to lurch forward until seat belt engaged. The part is not available for inspection. Passenger's safety was at risk due to not being held firmly in place by the seat belt. Don't know if Honda has confirmed/reproduced this issue. Car was inspected by Honda dealership on 11/28/21. No other impact related damage or parts failure discovered by Honda during inspection. Honda replacement part (Honda part #HP04814-TR3-A00ZA) ordered at that time. Replacement part was backordered and did not arrive until 9/1/23. No warning lamps/messages/other symptoms prior to failure.
The contact owns a 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH, the emergency steering warning light illuminated, and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, then to the dealer. Initially, the dealer could not replicate the failure but later diagnosed the vehicle with steering column failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,500.
My light for airbag inspection came on shortly after purchase. When we asked about it during a routine service we were told that shouldn't be happening. We were told the airbags are still working and they do not know why that is happening but, they were not interested in taking care of the issue even tho the car was under warranty at the time and several recalls were being issued for other cars with the Takata Airbags in them. Because of this poor service we decided to stop using your service. Now, several years later I have become aware of all the problems others are having with your airbags and requested a call back from a supervisor because no one answering your phones has offered any responsible response to this problem. No one is able to get a hold of a supervisor. I was finally given a case # thru an email from an unknown person with no contact information. I am very upset that I was not notified about this safety concern sooner and do not accept the system that you are using to get out of fixing a problem you pretended to know nothing about. Every time I try to find out which airbags are in my car I am referred to Takata Lawsuit over dysfunctional exploding bags are going off in older vehicles. I simply do not trust your process after many attempts to contact a responsible party and told they will get to it but, no one gets back and they have show no concern at all on their part. I do not wish to wait any longer for a correct response. it is long past due.
The EPS Electric Power Steering failed on the vehicle with no warning. At 35-40 MPH the EPS warning light came on and the car could not be turned in any direction. The car was wrestled off to the side of the road. It was turned off for several minutes and turned back on. Problem persisted. Turned off ignition for 10 minutes and the warning light went out and steering came back. Thank God there was no accident. This is beyond dangerous. Honda needs to step up to the plate and recall these vehicles with defective steering. Somebody is going to die. Now my daughter is afraid to drive the vehicle. We need to get it to the shop.
On or about August 2021, I drove my 2012 Civic to a store, and park. Leaving the location minutes later, I started the car and noticed I could not turn the wheel to back out. A dash light came on indicating a power steering system issue. I turned car off and tried again with the same results. Not able to drive, I left the car parked and returned the next morning to possibly have it towed. I started the car to check it, and the issue was gone. A mechanic checked the fuse and told me he "reset it." The problem has not returned to date.
The vehicle stop working because the mpi is bad, there is a service bulletin that cover the warranty
When leaving my parking space, my steering wheel locked and I was unable to turn the vehicle. If I had needed to maneuver my vehicle, I would not have been able to do so. The dashboard indicated that the power steering needed to be inspected.
The parking brake control knob has broken off and parking brake can not be released without inserting a long object into release button. If I engage the parking brake it is stuck in that position and car will not move. If I don't engage the parking brake then there is no parking brake. If parking on an incline, it is a struggle to move out of park. An independent service center has tried to order a replacement part. Honda says there is not replacement part. There are no warning lights.

On the roof of my car the clearcoat/paint is fading off really bad. It’s in different spots all over.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE CAR SLID A BIT. THE VEHICLE PASSENGER REAR TIRE HIT THE SIDE OF THE SIDEWALK, CAUSING THE AIRBAG TO POP.

POWER STEERING WHEN OUT ALL AT ONCE WHILE DRIVING, VERY DIFFICULT TO STEERING, DROVE HOME BARELY ABLE TO STEER, AFTER CAR SAT FOR A WHILE THE STEERING WORKS NOW, AFRAID TO GET OUT OF DRIVEWAY BECAUSE AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURNS (90 DEGREE TURNS) WITH THE VEHICLE GOING ~10 MPH THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTTURNS AND STAYS ON FOR SOME TIME BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS. HOWEVER, THE FREQUENCY OF THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS HAVE INCREASED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND WAS TOLD THE ISSUE IS COMING FROM A CABLE REEL AND THE DRIVER INFLATION MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED TOO. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA TECHNICIAN- IF THE ISSUE/PARTS REMAIN UNFIXED, THE AIRBAG WILL FAIL TO DEPLOY IN A FORWARD MOVEMENT CRASH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SON WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH BEFORE CRASHING INTO THE REAR OF A SECOND VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE MESSAGE "CHECK AIR BAG" HAD DISPLAYED AND THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE HAD UNLATCHED CAUSING THE DRIVER TO CONTACT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO BOTH KNEES. A POLICE REPORT TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT YET NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
1 airbags didn't deploy on highway accident on 1/11/2021. Honda usa rejected inspection upon request. 2 14 wheeler hit driverside on civic on hwy we almost died. 3 I reported accident of bags not deploying to Hobda USA. They denied case open for free inspection. 4 Airbags have not been inspected by no one. 5 unknown on the warning lamps . Dont know system.
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. IT TOOK TWO OF US TO TURN THE WHEEL TO MAKE A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. WE WERE BOTH AFRAID FOR OUR LIVES! WE DID NOT KNOW IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE IT HOME BUT WE DID. I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN! I HAVE TO USE THE CAR BECAUSE I LIVE SO FAR AWAY FROM STORES TO SHOP ETC. PLEASE HELP ME SOON SO I CAN USE THE CAR AGAIN!!!
dealership found this Honda one brake light blub only with 26764 miles in early 2021. I complained to Honda, they claimed and a case 12786775 and let me called them, then told me "out of warranty". Honda then closed the case. This is a quality of light blub issue, not warranty. In fact 1. Dealership said it is not often saw, only saw a few, you are unluck. One out of 10000 blub can like that. 2. I had a few Honda before, all light blubs will be good even they were more than 80000 miles and more than 12 or 15 years old. This is a clearly quality issue. Honda need replace it freely. Thanks.
About 2 years ago, I purchased my first Honda, on September 2019. It looked perfect. However, for the past 10 months its paint has been fading, specially on the car top. Now my car is looking absolutely aweful. If Honda does not fix this problem, I will switch back to Toyota because I never had this problem before.
THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BURN OIL VERY FAST EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. I'VE HAD TO FILL UP THE OIL 3 TIMES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND NO LEAKS HAVE BEEN FOUND AFTER A THOROUGH SEARCH.
WE ALMOST GOT KILLED TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL ISSUE WAS ALREADY LOOKED AT BY MY MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND REPLACED THAT INSTEAD. I WAS CHARGED FOR THE ALTERNATOR! I TOOK IT BACK AFTER WE WERE ALMOST KILLED. HE FIXED THE STEERING ISSUE BUT NOW THE CAR DOESN'T STEER RIGHT AWAY AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED ON! WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW? IT STAYS LOCKED AND YOU CAN ONLY GO FRONTWARDS AND BACK!! WE HAVE TO KEEP GOING BACK AND FORTH TILL IT UNLOCKS! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE OF THIS CAR? I DON'T DRIVE FAR. HONDA WONT FIX HOOD LATCH THAT FAILS TO OPEN AND NOW HAS ASKED FOR A COPY OF MY NORMAL STATE TITLE SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THE STATE MAKE IT A SALVAGED TITLED IN ERROR. THEY ARE DIRTY. THE HOOD DOES NOT OPEN. THE LATCH HAS FAILED WITH ONLY 80,000 MILES AND THE OFFICIAL POSITION OF AMERICAN HONDA IS GO SCREW YOURSELF THE CAR IS A 2012 AND HAS A SALVAGED TITLE BUT IT NEVER HAD A SALVAGED TITLE AND THEY LIE AND NEVER PROVIDED US ANY WARRANTY SERVICES EVER. THE EPS(ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) INDICATOR TURNED ON AFTER IGNITION AND STAYS ON. BECAUSE OF THIS, I AM NOT ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE, IT CAN GO UP AND DOWN IN A STRAIGHT LINE BUT CANNOT STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM WAS OPERATIONAL HOWEVER, THE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED OR REPROGRAMMED. THE CONTACT CONTACTED METRO HONDA (9399 AUTOPLEX ST, MONTCLAIR, CA 91763, (909) 542-9637) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 12/041 HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
SRS TROUBLE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF RANDOMLY. *TR
STARTED CAR AND CHECK POWER STEERING WARNING CAME UP. THERE WAS A SLIGHT SHUTTER THEN STEERING WAS HARD. SHUT CAR AND RESTARTED AND WARNING WERE GONE AND STEERING OK. 1 WEEK LATER SAME PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT CLEAR AND NO POWER STEERING. SHUT CAR AND RESTARTED, WARNING STILL ON, BUT POWER STEERING WORKING, BUT THERE IS A SLIGHT NOISE ON AND OFF. SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING.
ALL MY KNOBS ARE MELTING. RADIO, AIR, ETC. ALSO THE NAMES ARE FADING ON THE WINDOW AND AIR CONDITIONING. *TR
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE CARS POWER STEERING COLUMN WILL LOCK UP. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL . I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PEOPLE HELPED ME GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED I NEEDED TO UPDATE THE EPS. IT COST $70 AND MY SYSTEM SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. A MONTH LATER I WAS DRIVING AGAIN AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. THE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY LOCKED U AGAIN. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. I WAS ABLE TO GET STOPPED, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. IT RESET IT I GUESS CAUSE IT STARTED WORKING. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER VERY SLOW AND WAS TOLD I NEED AN EPS CONTROL UNIT SYSTEM AND IT WOULD BE AROUND $867 WITH LABOR. I'VE NOTICED TONS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME COMPLAINT AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AND FIXED. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER MOM WHO OWNED A 2012 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. ADDITIONALLY, THE SEAT BELTS FOR THE DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND REAR SEAT PASSENGER FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, CHEST, BACK, AND SHOULDERS WHILE THE REAR SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED ABRASIONS TO THE FACE FROM THE BACK PANEL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS SOUGHT BY EACH VEHICLE OCCUPANT. A FOURTH PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INJURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY FOUR OTHER PASSENGERS FROM THE OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE CRASH ALSO SUSTAINED INJURIES AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS ALSO SOUGHT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW AND RECOVERY FACILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED.
EMISSIONS RECALL THAT AFFECTS ME PASSING A SMOG CHECK
I BEGAN TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT OF MY WORKPLACE TO HEAD TOWARDS THE FREEWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY STEERING STOPS WORKING. I WORK IN A VERY BUSY AREA AND TRAFFIC IS VERY BUSY. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A RED LIGHT AND THAT I AM A SAFE DRIVER BECAUSE IF I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ON THE FREEWAY I WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY GOTTEN INTO A FATAL ACCIDENT. I AM ALSO VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE WEATHER DID NOT END UP BEING INCLEMENT AS IT WAS PREDICTED TO BE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2012-2013 HONDA CIVICS. SHOULDN'T THEY INITIATE A RECALL PROCESS BECAUSE THIS ISN'T SAFE.
THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER DEPLOYED WHEN THE CAR SLIGHTLY GRAZED A SNOWBANK. THERE WASN'T AN "IMPACT" BETWEEN THE CAR AND THE SNOWBANK. THE CAR SPEED WAS LESS THAN 10 MPH TURNING A CORNER ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE AT ALL TO THE CAR. NOT A NICK OR A SCRATCH. THE DIRT DIDN'T EVEN MOVE ON THE CAR. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO OPERATE CORRECTLY; HOWEVER, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. THE CONTACT CALLED KENDALL HONDA OF FAIRBANKS (LOCATED AT 1000 CADILLAC CT, FAIRBANKS, AK 99701, 855-501-3434) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
DRIVER AIRBAG ALERT LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON ALL THE TIME
WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 70 IN RICHMOND INDIANA WAS TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY LIGHTS ON MY DASH OFF LICKED ON AND OFF AND I LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER INCLUDING BRAKES STEERING AND THE ENGINE I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE VEHICLE AND COAST TO A STOP AT AN EXIT I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND MY HAZARDS WERE NOT WORKING EITHER SO IT WAS A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. IN ADDITION IT WAS LATE IN THE EVENING SO WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I LOST ALL LIGHTS NOBODY COULD SEE ME AND I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING THIS COULD'VE ENDED VERY TRAGICALLY FOR ME TRYING TO MOVE OVER AS THE SPEED LIMIT POSTED IN THE AREA IS 70 MPH. IN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I FOUND MULTIPLE FORUMS AND POSTS REGARDING THIS SAME TYPE OF FAILURE. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS. NOW I NEED TO TOW TO A SERVICE CENTER AND SEE HOW MUCH MORE MONEY I WILL NEED TO COME UP WITH TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE
APPLIED WATER FROM A GARDEN HOSE TO THE ROOF OF MY CAR IN AN EFFORT TO REMOVE LEAVES AND OTHER VEGETATIVE DEBRIS THAT WAS STUCK TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I APPLIED WATER AT REGULAR PRESSURE TO THE ROOF, LARGE SECTIONS OF PAINT CAME OFF OF THE ROOF. I HAVE FILED A CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA BUT THEY ARE ARGUING THIS PARTICULAR PAINT COLOR DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE CURRENT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. HOWEVER, IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THE PAINT THAT WAS APPLIED TO THE ROOF OF MY CAR FAILED DUE TO A DEFECT.
