ON JULY 7 2014 FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACE WITH FRONT REMANFACTURED BRAKE CALIPERS FROM UCX CORP ON MARCH 23 2015 BRAKES FAILED DUE TO FRONT REMANFACTURED BRAKE CALIPERS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID FROM SEALS. ON APRIL 10 2015 BRAKES FAILED AGAIN DUE TO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM FRONT BRAKE CALIPER SEALS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO BRAKES FAIL WITHOUT WARNING.
BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL (WHEN DEPRESSED) IS LOWER THAN THE THROTTLE (GAS PEDAL), MY FOOT HAS HIT BOTH THE BRAKE AND THE GAS AT THE SAME TIME CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, . I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM TWICE AND BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THEREFORE NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO WHAT MY NEXT STEP, IF ANY, SHOULD BE ??? *TR
SUDDENLY, WHEN BRAKING, THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING WAS EFFECTED BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AFTER SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE AND BRAKE LINES THAT HAD GOTTEN SO RUSTY HERE IN VERMONT AND DUE TO ITS DESIGNED EXPOSURE THAT THEY FAILED.ALL AT ONCE, NOT GRADUALLY. THE AGENCY THAT REPAIRED MY DAMAGE SAID THAT A 2003 CRV FAILED THE STATE INSPECTION DUE TO RUSTY FRAME DAMAGE. THE NHTSA SHOULD SPECIFY THAT BRAKE LINES AND FITTINGS SHOULD BE MADE OF STAINLESS OR BRASS. I HAVE HEARD STORIES FROM MANY SAYING THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE LINES. *TR
2004 HONDA CRV WITH ONLY 24,000 MILES, PURCHASED NEW, LOCAL DRIVING -LEFT REAR BRAKE PAD TOTALLY WORN TO METAL. RIGHT REAR - SOME SCORING ON ROTOR. FRONT PADS AND ROTORS SEEM OK. DEFECT IN BRAKE PAD - CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. *NM
THE CONSUMER'S 2004 HONDA CRV EXPERIENCED CORROSION AND 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKE PAD SEIZING INTO POSITION WHICH CAUSED THEM TO WEAR. *TS THE ENTIRE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FRONT PADS AND THE ROTORS WERE TURNED (UNDER WARRANTY). THIS VEHICLE WAS LEASED FOR THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER. *SC
I WAS DRIVING A NEW 2004 HONDA CR-V, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN TURNED LEFT ONTO A ONE WAY STREET. I SAW AN SUV IN FRONT OF ME AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. NOTHING HAPPENED. I HIT THE VEHICLE IN THE REAR. THAT VEHICLE WAS KNOCKED FORWARD. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AGAIN. NOTHING HAPPENED. I HIT THE VEHICLE AGAIN IN THE REAR. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I YANKED MY VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT, AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AGAIN. NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN AND STOP THE VEHICLE BY PULLING AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE PARKING BRAKE--AND EVEN THEN, I HAD TO PULL IT TWICE, AS FAR DOWN AS I COULD GET IT. THE OTHER DRIVER WASN'T INJURED AND HER VEHICLE HAD DAMAGE ON THE REAR SIDE. MY LEFT KNEE HIT THE DASH AND MY HANDS HIT THE WHEEL AND DASH--SUSTAINING SOME INJURY, AND MY RIGHT ARM WAS BURNED BY THE AIR BAG. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. THE MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT MY HONDA SAID THAT HE COULDN'T TELL FOR CERTAIN IF THE BRAKES HAD FAILED, OR IF THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK FULL OPEN PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK FULL OPEN.*AK
IN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE IN 2003, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RUBBING/GRINDING NOISE THROUGH CERTAIN BRAKE PRESSURE. OUR FIRST OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION THE NOISE STOPPED ONLY TO REAPPEAR ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR. NOISE IS THE SAME, JACOBS TWIN HAS REPLACED THE ENTIRE BRAKE ASSEMBLY ONCE, REPLACED THE PADS ONCE AND, REFINISHED THE ROTORS ONCE. EACH TIME THE NOISE SUBSIDES FOR A PERIOD ONLY TO COME BACK WITHIN 3 MONTHS. EVERYTIME I HAVE I GO IN FOR MY OIL CHANGE I HAVE TO HAVE THE BRAKES REDONE AS WELL. I BELIEVE I HAVE PURCHASED A FAULTY PRODUCT. *JB
