10-YEAR-OLD HONDA CR-V WITH ONLY 60K MILES EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF TWO KEY SENSORS IN JUNE 2016: 1) THE VSA/ABS CONTROL MODULE, AND 2) THE AIR/FUEL RATIO SENSOR. THE FAILURE OF #1 CAUSED THE ABS AND TCS LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO TURN ON; AND THE LOSS OF #2 CAUSED THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TO TURN ON. TOTAL COST TO REPLACE BOTH VIA NON-DEALER MECHANIC WAS $2,425, WHICH OWNER PAID. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL, SO FILING COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA FOR THE PUBLIC RECORD.

THE VSA AND ABS LIGHTS ON MY 2006 CR-V CAME ON UPON STARTING AND STAYED ON UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS STARTED. MY HONDA DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE A FAULTY ABS MODULATOR UNIT. THE STATED REPLACEMENT COST IS $2,400, INCLUDING LABOR. I FEEL THAT THIS DEFECT IS ESSENTIAL IN ENSURING THE OVERALL SAFETY OF THIS CAR. THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT AN UNCONTROLLED SKID IS MUCH MORE LIKELY TO END IN DISASTER THAN A SKID THAT IS STOPPED WITH THE VSA AND ABS FUNCTION WORKING PROPERLY. LIVING IN CENTRAL OHIO, THE ABS AND VSA FUNCTIONS ARE USED FREQUENTLY - ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER. THESE KEY SAFETY FEATURES WERE A TOP PRIORITY IN MY DECISION TO BUY THIS CAR. WHILE THE CAR'S LIFE EXPECTANCY IS TOUTED TO BE AROUND 300,000 MILES, IT IS UNFORGIVABLE FOR SUCH A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY FUNCTION TO FAIL AT ONLY 102,000 MILES. I FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE CARS AND REPLACE THE VSA MODULATOR UNIT ENTIRELY AT HONDA'S EXPENSE. AND FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE REPAIR - REIMBURSE THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE REPAIR! THE CAR WITHOUT VSA AND ABS IS NOT AT ALL THE SAME "AS ADVERTISED" WHEN SOLD NEW!

IT HAS BEEN OVER 60 DAYS SINCE WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER, AND THEY STILL SAY THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE PART
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE 2016 AND CALLED DCH HONDA TEMECULA UPON RECEIPT. THEY SAID THEY WILL ORDER PART AND WILL GIVE ME A CALL AS SOON AS THEY GET THIS. I CALLED ON JULY 18 AND AGAIN ON AUG 23. IT'S BEEN ALMOST 90DAYS AND MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. PLEASE HELP.
TAKATA RECALL - WE RECEIVED A LETTER DATED JUNE 2016 REGARDING THIS RECALL. WITHIN A WEEK I CONTACTED OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP, DICK BROOKS HONDA OF GREER, TO INQUIRE. DATE OF THAT INITIAL CALL WAS 7/6/16. I ALSO CALLED AMERICAN HONDA. I WAS TOLD BY BOTH THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BUT THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL WHEN AVAILABLE. OUR HONDA IS DRIVEN BY MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER AND IS IT FREQUENTLY NECESSARY TO HAVE OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS FOR SAFETY. AS OF AUGUST WE STILL HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING BACK REGARDING THE PARTS. I SENT A REQUEST TO AMERICAN HONDA TO INQUIRE ABOUT AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE. ON 8/23/16 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AH. THERE ANSWER WAS THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS AFFECTED AND THAT WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO AVOID ANY PASSENGER ON THAT SIDE. AND THAT BECAUSE WE DON'T ALWAYS HAVE A PASSENGER THERE WOULD BE NO PROVISION FOR ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION. I STILL EXPRESSED MY CONCERN FOR SAFETY AND THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING TO DRIVE A SEPARATE CAR SHOULD WE NEED TO TRANSPORT ADDITIONAL PASSENGERS. AT THAT TIME THE REP CALLED DICK BROOKS WHO TOLD HER THE PART(S) HAD NEVER BEEN ORDERED BUT THAT THEY WOULD ORDER AND WOULD POSSIBLY BE IN BY THURSDAY (8/25). TODAY IS 8/30/16 AND THE PART IS STILL ON BACK-ORDER PER MY CALL TO THE PARTS MANAGER. MY CONCERN REMAINS THE SAME. MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS PRESENTS A VALID SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS AN INCONVENIENCE. TAKATA RECALL - HONDA CONTACTED ME JUNE 2016 REGARDING A RECALL FOR PASSENGER AIRBAG BUT CONTINUES TO TELL ME THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PART. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO EXPEDITE COMPLETION OF THIS IMPORTANT RECALL?
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (NHTSA RECALL 16V-344) IN JUNE OF 2016. I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (PAUL MILLER HONDA OF WEST CALDWELL, NJ) TO SCHEDULE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS BE MADE IN EARLY JULY 2016. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY NEEDED TO ORDER THE PART AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY RECEIVE IT. I NEVER GOT A CALL AND HAVE CALLED TO INQUIRE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED." I NEED TO USE MY CAR TO TRANSPORT MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND AM GETTING ANNOYED AT THE COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY. I NEED THIS RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU. *TR

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE AN OLDER CAR 2006. I LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA WHICH IS HOT AND HUMID. I HAVE CALLED TWO DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIPS WHO TOOK MY INFORMATION. I ASSUME I AM WAITING FOR THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT TO COME IN. THIS IS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I ALREADY REPLACED THE OTHER ONE. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM EITHER DEALERSHIP. I KNOW THERE IS A BACK LOG BUT HOW DO I GET PRIORITY.

TRANSMISSION SLIPS ON SECOND GEAR AND SLAMS TO THIRD GEAR.
THE RED AIR-BAG INDICATOR BEGAN GLOWING STEADY RED ON MARCH 22, 2016. ON MARCH 28, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO CHECK ON THE PROBLEM. THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT INDICATES "INTERNAL FAILURE OF SRS UNIT". THIS PART APPARENTLY TELLS THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE IS SITTING IN EITHER / BOTH OF THE FRONT. THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE BAG 'MAY OR MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT' AND IT IS 'NOT LIKELY' THAT THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. APPARENTLY, HONDA DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS SENSOR AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SAFETY SYSTEM. I CAN HAVE A NEW UNIT INSTALLED FOR $574.95. I WAS ALSO REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC, $112.30, SINCE THIS IS A PART THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT COVER. I FEEL THAT AS THIS SENSOR IS A PART THAT THE CONSUMER DOES NOT MAINTAIN AND IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SAFETY SYSTEM, AS IT CONNECTS DIRECTLY TO THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR TO THE SAFETY SYSTEM AS WELL AS REIMBURSE ME FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS MAY BE AFFECTED IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THEREFORE, I WISH TO FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT AGAINST HONDA, LEJEUNE HONDA CARS IN JACKSONVILLE, NC FOR FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SYSTEM.

THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V486000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT CONSTANTLY DROPS DOWN AND BLOCKS MY VIEW. IF I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE I EITHER HAVE TO HOLD THE VISOR UP WITH ONE HAND OR LAY MY SEAT BACK MORE. BOTH OF THESE SITUATIONS ARE MAJOR SAFETY HAZARDS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA WANTS OVER $100 TO REPLACE ONE SUN VISOR - A MONOPOLY FOR THEM.
MAJOR SIDE COLLISION, IMPACT AT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WITH FRONT PASSENGER IN SEAT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, GOING STRAIGHT, ON CITY STREET AT APPROX 35 MPH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BULBS WERE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
HEADLIGHT BULBS CONTINUE TO BLOW. THEN CAN BLOW AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS OR A YEAR AFTER INSTALLATION. BUT THEY BLOW OFTEN ENOUGH THAT WHEN THEY GO, I IMMEDIATELY GO TO THE STORE TO BUY REPLACEMENTS. JUST THIS EVENING, I HAD A THE RIGHT SIDE GO WHEN I REPLACE THE LEFT SIDE JUST YESTERDAY. I FEAR THAT BOTH MAY GO AT THE SAME TIME WHEN MY WIFE OR I ARE BEHIND THE WHEEL WITH OUR INFANT IN THE BACKSEAT. THE BULBS HAVE BLOWN WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD, AS WELL AS WHEN PARKED. SINCE WE ACQUIRED THIS VEHICLE IN 2009, I HAVE REPLACED OVER A DOZEN BULBS. I HAVE ONLY RECENTLY STARTED SAVING RECEIPTS TO BETTER TRACK THIS ISSUE.

HONDA DEALER IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ, INDICATED THAT THE FRONT COMPLIANCE BUSHINGS ARE TORN ON MY2016 HONDA CRV AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THE HONDA BUSHINGS ARE NOT MADE OF A SOLID/QUALITY COMPONENT AND ARE FAILING AT UNUSUAL RATES WHICH EQUATE TO UNSAFE DRIVING AND COSTLY REPAIR FOR THE CONSUMER. IS THERE A CONCERN FOR SUSPENSION/ALIGNMENT AND STEERING PROBLEMS DUE TO TORN BUSHINGS AND IS THIS RELATED TO THE CONTROL ARM BUSHING RECALL FOR HONDA CRV 2006 ID#12V124000?
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SWUNG DOWN FROM THE HEADLINER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A FEW MONTHS AGO. FORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE 210 FREEWAY. EVER SINCE THE INCIDENT, IT WOULD NOT STAY UP AGAINST THE HEADLINER.
THE AC CLUTCH COMPRESSOR IS OUT. THIS IS AFFECTING MY HEALTH . I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND APPARENTLY FROM 2002-2009 THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BECAUSE OF HONDA PLACEMENT OF COMPRESSOR AND HEAT FROM ENGINE. I HAVE AN 2003 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.. WITH THE 2006 AND ITS DARK INTERIOR I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT OPENING WINDOWS AND THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR MANY REASONS. MOMENTS LATER, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

ABS AND VSA LIGHTS CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE ABS MODULATOR NEEDED REPLACING. MY COST WOULD BE $2450.00. SINCE THIS COMPONENT CONTROLS BRAKES AND STABILITY IT SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEREFORE SUBJECT TO A RECALL.

THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS STUCK, AND WILL NOT GO ALL THE WAY IN THE "UP" POSITION. THE VISOR IS THEREFORE STUCK IN A POSITION WHERE IT BUMPS AGAINST THE DRIVER'S FOREHEAD. T HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR OVER A YEAR.
I HAVE HAD PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE SRS SYSTEM WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE HAD TO BE REPLACED, I RECENTLY HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED DUE TO RECALL. NOW THE SRS LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND HONDA REFUSES TO REPAIR OR DIAGNOSE WITHOUT ME PAYING $80 TO DIAGNOSE. I'VE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHTS BURNING OUT AT LEAST 6 TIMES A YEAR TO WHICH HONDA COULD NEVER FIND A PROBLEM.
THE PASSENGER-SIDE HEADLIGHT ON MY 2006 CR-V WENT OUT 06/10/15, SO I HAD IT REPLACED @HONDA DEALER NEXT DAY. THE TECH SAID HIGH-BEAM WAS ALSO OUT! I QUESTIONED THE LIKELIHOOD OF SUCH AN OCCURRENCE, BUT WAS NOT GIVEN ANY RESPONSE THAT INDICATED A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THE HEADLIGHTS/WIRING. JUST A FEW HOURS LATER, THE NEW LOW-BEAM BULB I BOUGHT THUR. 11 JUNE, WENT OUT! NEVER GOT HIGHBEAM REPLACED BECAUSE PARTS DEPT. WAS OUT OF THEM. I WENT ONLINE & FOUND THE FOLLOWING SERIOUS PROBLEMS REPORTED ON LINK BELOW BY MANY CRV OWNERS -- LOTS OF OTHER 2006 CRVS EXPERIENCED RECURRING FAILURE! THE SUNROOF GLASS SUDDENLY EXPLODED WHILE I WAS TRAVELLING SOUTH ON I684 IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY NY. FORTUNATELY, THE SUN SHADE WAS CLOSED, AND WE WERE PROTECTED FROM THE SHATTERING GLASS.
AFTER FINDING OUT VIA THE OWNER'S SITE THAT MY AIRBAG HAD BEEN RECALLED I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE NOT IN STOCK AND I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL TO UPDATE ME ABOUT AVAILABILITY BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT. I HAD TO CALL BACK FOR THE UPDATE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE PARTS. NEARLY A MONTH LATER I CALLED BACK TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE PARTS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO ESTIMATE OF WHEN THEY WOULD ARRIVE. WHEN I EXPRESSED CONCERN AT THE DELAY I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULDN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT WAITING A MONTH - THERE WERE CUSTOMERS WHO HAD BEEN WAITING MORE THAN THREE MONTHS. THE RECALL DATE IS ALMOST A YEAR OLD AND I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION. IT HAS NOW BEEN NEARLY TWO MONTHS THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED AFTER FINDING OUT ABOUT THE RECALL. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE HONDA COMPANY BUT THEY HAVE LIMITED CALL CENTER HOURS.
