FRONT STRUTS FAIL PREMATURELY; THIS MAY LED TO OTHER STRUCTURE DAMAGE AND SAFETY. *JB
PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS AND UNABLE TO OPEN IN EMERGENCY. *JB
WHEN I ACCELERATED FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT A STOPLIGHT, MY VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED ALL THE DOORS (WHICH IT HAD DONE UPON LEAVING THE PARKING LOT). I THOUGHT THIS STRANGE. THEN I LOOKED AND SAW THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LOCK UNLOCKED ITSELF AS SOON AS THE DOORS HAD LOCKED. WHEN I STOPPED AGAIN AT ANOTHER LIGHT, IT REPEATED THE PATTERN. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED, THE CAR LOCKED ALL DOORS, AND THEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF AGAIN. THIS REPEATS EVERY TIME I STOP ANYWHERE. IT IS NOT SAFE. I AM UNABLE TO KEEP MY DOORS LOCKED WHEN DRIVING. ALSO, IF I LOCK MY CAR WHEN I LEAVE MY VEHICLE, THE ALARM WILL SOUND WITHIN MINUTES DUE TO THE CAR "UNLOCKING" ITSELF AGAIN. I AM UNABLE TO SECURE MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. ACCORDING TO RESEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAIN THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN AWARE OF FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS CONTINUED. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR REPAIRS, SO I ENDANGER MYSELF AND MY FAMILY EVERY TIME WE TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING SECURE WITH PROPER DOOR LOCKS. *TR
MY FIRST INCIDENT THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST 2013 MY KEYLESS LOCK WOULD NOT LOCK MY CAR AND WOULD BEEP 3X WHEN I WENT TO LOCK IT. IT WOULD STILL STAY OPEN. AFTER A FEW TIMES OF OPENING AND CLOSING MY DOOR IT WAS FINE BUT STILL DID IT OVER A 2 DAY PERIOD THEN IT STOPPED AND WAS FINE. TODAY IS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH AND I PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY, TURN OFF MY CAR AND THE DOOR UNLOCKS AS USUAL, THEN IT LOCKED ITSELF IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT. I USED MY KEY TO UNLOCK IT AND OPENED MY DOOR QUICKLY TO GET OUT. AS I EXITED MY CAR THE DOOR LOCKED ITSELF BEFORE I COULD EVEN CLOSE MY DOOR AND USE THE KEYLESS REMOTE. EVEN IF I MANUALLY UNLOCK MY DOOR IT WILL LOCK ITSELF IMMEDIATELY RIGHT AFTER. I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2007 HONDA CRV. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD RESULT IN DEATH. LET ME REMIND YOU IT IS SEPTEMBER AND VERY HOT OUTSIDE AND HOTTER IN THE CAR. THIS COULD TRAP ME OR MY PASSENGERS IN MY CAR AND I AM AFRAID. *JB
REAR PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK CAUSING AUTOMATIC LOCKS TO TRY TO RE-LOCK EVERY TIME I RESUMED DRIVING AFTER A STOP LIGHT/SIGN. I WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK BUTTON, REMOTE, OR MANUALLY. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED AND THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED, BUT OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR WILL LOCK ITSELF AND I AM UNABLE TO OPEN IT VIA REMOTE, DRIVER'S DOOR BUTTON, OR MANUALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE DOOR IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED OR UNLOCKED, PUTTING PASSENGERS AT RISK EITHER WAY. *JS
REAR HATCH WILL NOT UNLOCK. UNABLE TO UNLOCK REAR PASSENGER DOOR. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT IS AN DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED IN APRIL 2013 REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I CALLED HONDA WHO SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION. PERHAPS HONDA SHOULD CONSIDER RECALLING THE DEFECTIVE ACTUATORS. BEING UNABLE TO UNLOCK CAR DOORS ON A VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR CAUSED THE DOOR TO INDEPENDENTLY UNLOCK. IN ADDITION, THE LIFT GATE WOULD NOT RELEASE UPON ENGAGEMENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000....UPDATED 10-24-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK WAS REPAIRED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR THEN FAILED A SHORT TIME LATER. LEFT REAR DOOR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. *TR
YESTERDAY, AFTER RETURNING HOME, I TRIED TO OPEN THE TRUNK OF MY CRV. IT WOULD NOT RELEASE USING EITHER THE KEY-BASED UNLOCKING MECHANISM OR BY USING THE INTERIOR LOCKING SYSTEM. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT, REAR PASSENGER DOOR WAS ALSO UNABLE TO UNLOCK THROUGH ANY MEANS. THE TRUNK AND THE DOOR WERE, EFFECTIVELY, FROZEN IN PLACE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO HONDA SERVICE TODAY (RON TONKIN HONDA IN PORTLAND) AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE LEFT, REAR PASSENGER DOOR OR TRUNK THROUGH MANIPULATION OF THE VEHICLES COMPUTER. THIS WILL NECESSITATE THE REMOVAL, AND LIKELY BRAKING, OF THE DOOR'S PANEL, WHICH THEY ESTIMATED WILL COST OVER $1000, NOT COUNTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DOORS ACTUATOR, WHICH IS WHAT HAS LIKELY FAILED. IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, THIS KIND OF FAILURE WOULD LEAD TO A SITUATION WHERE SOMEONE COULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE CAR OR SOMEONE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ENTER THE CAR TO ASSIST AN INJURED PASSENGER. MY 3 YEAR OLD RIDES IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE EVERY DAY AND THIS SCENARIO IS TERRIFYING TO ME. BASED ON MY READING, I SEE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE (INCLUDING A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT IN NEWARK, NJ), BUT NO RECALL OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ISSUED BY HONDA. I AM HOPEFUL THAT MY REPORTING THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE PROBLEM BY HONDA AND A RECALL OF THE PART AND REPLACEMENT WITH A PROVEN PART WHICH IS NOT VULNERABLE TO THE SAME KIND OF FAILURE. *TR
DOOR LOCK PROBLEM: DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT LOCK. THIS OCCURS WHEN KEY FOB IS USED, WHEN POWER DOOR LOCK BUTTON IS USED, AND WHEN DOOR IS LOCKED MANUALLY. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING, INTERMITTENTLY THE DOOR LOCKS AND UNLOCKS WITHIN SECONDS OF ITSELF. HONDA DEALER REPLACED ACTUATOR AS A NON-WARRANTY REPAIR. *TR
ON 08/09/2013 I PARKED MY HONDA CRV IN MY DRIVEWAY AND LOCKED MY CAR WITH MY KEYLESS REMOTE. ONE HOUR LATER OUR FAMILY DECIDED TO GO OUT TO DINNER. WE WENT OUT TO OUR CAR AND IT WOULDN'T OPEN. TIRED THE KEY IN THE DOOR AND TRIED THE KEYLESS REMOTE ALSO TRIED THE SPARE KEYLESS REMOTE, WOULD NOT OPEN. AT 9:30 P.M. WE CALL AAA TO OPEN THE CAR, AT 10 P.M. AAA SHOWED UP AND OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. HE GOT THE DOOR OPEN, WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER IN THE MORNING. DURING THE NIGHT, THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED. I NEEDED TO GO TO WORK, HAD TO GET A RIDE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. MY HUSBAND WAITED 3 HOURS FOR A TOW-TRUCK TO SHOW UP TO TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. WE WERE VERY SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY A RECALL, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHERE WE LIVE THE TEMPERATURE DURING THE DAY IN AUGUST RUNS FROM 95 DEGREES TO 110 DEGREES, IF THIS HAPPENED DURING THE DAY AND CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR, THIS COULD CAUSE DEATH.
THE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATE INAPPROPRIATELY WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. I UNLOCK THE DOORS TO TAKE MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE BACK OF THE CAR, AND THE CAR LOCKS ITSELF WITHIN 2-3 SECONDS BEFORE I CAN EVEN OPEN THE BACK DOOR. BEYOND JUST BEING ANNOYING, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
2007 HONDA CR-V REAR DOOR LOCK. WHEN LOCK THE DOOR AND STARTED DRIVING, THE REAR DOOR LOCK AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. REAR DOOR LOCK CANNOT BE LOCK AT ALL, THE DOOR LOCK WILL AUTO RE-OPEN AFTER EACH LOCK. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR CONTINUES TO SELF-LOCK WHEN TRYING TO OPEN CAR DOOR FOR ENTRANCE. IF THE CAR DOOR HANDLE IS PULLED AFTER 2 SECONDS, THE DRIVER DOOR LOCKS ALONG WITH ALL OTHER DOORS ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN A HONDA CAR DRIVER FOR THE MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING LIFE. I LOVE HONDA BRAND OF CARS BECAUSE THEY ARE SUCH A DEPENDABLE CAR WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE UPKEEP, HOWEVER THIS IS FRUSTRATING AS I AM NOW FEARFUL THAT I MIGHT ACTUALLY BECOME LOCKED IN MY CAR AND WOULD NEED TO CLIMB OUT OF THE WINDOW TO EXIT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR FAILED TO LOCK AS DESIGNED UPON REACHING 9 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS STARTED TO MAKE A WHIRRING NOISE WHEN THE AUTOMATIC 9MPH DESIGNED LOCK SYSTEM ENGAGED AND ALSO ANYTIME I LOCKED MY DOORS. I DISENGAGED THE AUTOMATIC 9MPH DESIGNED LOCK. BUT IT STILL DOES THIS WHEN I LOCK THE VEHICLE WITH MY KEY. AT TIMES IT ALSO LOCKS AND UNLOCKS WHEN I AM DRIVING. SINCE MY INSPECTION WAS DUE SHORTLY I WAITED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER THEY QUOTED ME APPROX $350.00 TO REPAIR. SINCE I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY AT THAT TIME I ASK IF IT WOULD HURT TO LEAVE AS IS FOR AWHILE, THEY ADVISED ME NO, BUT AT SOME POINT I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO LOCK ON UNLOCK THE PASSENGER DOOR. I THEN LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW ALL THE PROBLEMS EVERYONE WAS HAVING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I CONFRONTED THE DEALER AND HE SAID IT WAS THE ACTUATOR AND I ASK HIM WHEN HONDA WAS GOING TO HAVE A RECALL. HE SAID IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, SO MOST LIKELY THERE WILL BE NO RECALL. I HAVE 38, 000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND DO ALL THE MAINTENANCE AS REQUIRED. HONDA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM AND DO RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY FOR SMALL CHILDREN AND IF YOU NEED TO LOCK YOUR DOORS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. *TT
AT FIRST THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TO MY HONDA 2007 CRV UNLOCKS BY ITSELF, EVEN AFTER I LOCK IT WITH THE REMOTE OR MANUALLY. WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO 10 MPR IT WOULD UNLOCK AND LOCK BY ITSELF. NOW, THE DOOR ONLY LOCKS ITSELF, EVEN IF THE DOOR IS LOCKED, IT LOCKS AGAIN, BUT NOW A ANNOYING SQUEAKING LOUD NOISE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE COST IS $375. I AM HOPING NO MORE DOORS WILL NEED REPAIRS TO THE DOOR ACTUATOR AS 4 DOORS @ 375 = A LOT OF MONEY. HONDA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS! *TR
FRONT DRIVER DOOR IS LOCKED AND CAN'T OPEN FROM INSIDE USING REMOTE OR MANUALLY. CLIMBED OVER TO THE PASSENGER DOOR AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR FROM OUTSIDE ALSO UNABLE TO DO SO. I BROUGHT THE CAR THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR DEFECT. THE DEFECT POSES A SAFETY RISK SINCE THE DOOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING FEATURES FAIL TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. UPON RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, MANY CRV OWNERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM FOR CRV 2007-2010. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NEITHER RECALL OR COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. *JS
THE A/C STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR. I WAS TOLD THE COMPRESSOR, AND PROBABLY MORE SPECIFICALLY THE CLUTCH ON THE COMPRESSOR, HAS FAILED. THIS SEEMS LIKE WAY TOO NEW OF A CAR WITH LOW MILES FOR THE A/C TO BE FAILING LEAVING ME WITH A $1800 BILL. ALSO, OTHERS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND ARE REFERENCING A SERVICE BULLETIN # 12-072, WHICH IS NOT LISTED BY HONDA OR THE NHTSA- SO NOT SURE, BUT SEEMS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE. *TR
DOOR ACTUATOR UNLOCK AFTER LOCKING IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
AFTER UNLOCKING DOOR WITH SWITCH OR KEYFOB ALL DOORS WILL START TO LOCK THEMSELVES. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE IN THE CAR AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET OUT. I'M CONCERNED THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AS THEY CAN'T GET OUT IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER TESTED IT AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH AND COULD BE A SHORT IN THE MICU MULTI-PLEX BODY CONTROL UNIT. FIRST RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH ($400) AND THEN THE OTHER PART IF THAT DOESN'T WORK. *TR
FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS DID NOT ACTIVATE PER DESIGN WHEN REACHING SPEED OF 9 MPH. CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY PROBLEM IN THAT DRIVER OR PASSENGER COULD OPEN DOORS WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED OR IN CASE OF ACCIDENT DOORS COULD OPEN EXPOSING DRIVER OR PASSENGER TO HARM. *TR
2007 HONDA CR-V, STARTED WITH REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK NOT UNLOCKING. WITHIN ONE WEEK ALL DOOR LOCKS WERE NOT UNLOCKING. NOW THE DRIVER'S DOOR WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE ABOUT 1 SECOND TO PULL THE HANDLE ONCE I PRESS UNLOCK (ON REMOTE OR WITHIN THE VEHICLE) TO OPEN THE DOOR OR IT LOCKS ITSELF AGAIN. AFTER VEHICLE IT SHUT OFF 2 DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND VEHICLE IS LEFT UNLOCKED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR! HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS, RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. *TR
INITIALLY, OVER A YEAR AGO, THE POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR WOULD MAKE A HIGH PITCHED HUMMING/WHINING NOISE WHEN ACTIVATED, BUT THE DOOR LOCKS STILL WORKED PROPERLY BACK THEN. IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, THE DOOR LOCKS SOUND AS IF THEY ARE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING REPEATEDLY AND CONTINUOUSLY ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT ANY HUMAN INTERVENTION AS I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING NOISE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT REMAIN LOCKED AS I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. MY INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA CRV'S FROM 2007 TO 2011. THIS SAFETY PROBLEM SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. HONDA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AS THERE IS AT LEAST ONE LAWSUIT SEEKING CLASS CERTIFICATION IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF NEW JERSEY, BUT HONDA WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LOCKS WOULD ENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. ...UPDATED 08-08-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. WITHIN ONE SECOND OF ENGAGING LOCKS, THE DOOR UNLOCKED AND REMAINED UNLOCKED. THE ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WILL NOT STAY UNLOCKED NO MATTER WHETHER I UNLOCK IT FROM OUTSIDE WITH THE REMOTE OR FROM THE INSIDE DRIVER LOCK BUTTON. IT UNLOCKS THEN A COUPLE SECONDS LATER, IT LOCKS ITSELF. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I UNLOCK THE DOOR - NOT SPORADICALLY. *TR
PASSENGER DOOR WILL UNLOCKED AFTER LOCKING MANUALLY, WITH REMOTE, WHEN ITS TO AUTO LOCK AFTER YOU START DRIVING OVER 15 MPH. CANNOT LOCK PASSENGER DOOR AT ALL. *TR
THE LOCK ON MY RIGHT PASSENGER AND REAR/TRUNK DOORS LOCKED AND WERE UNABLE TO UNLOCK (COULD NOT OPEN MANUALLY EITHER). THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME $860.00 TO REPAIR BOTH LOCKS. AFTER CONTACTING AMERICA HONDA, THE PRICE WAS DROPPED TO $401.00. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEMS WERE THE FUSE BOX PROBLEM AND THE DOOR LATCH ACTUATOR. THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT A MAINTENANCE THAT I NEGLECTED TO SERVICE OR UPKEEP THEREFORE I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING AND THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED SINCE I'VE READ ENOUGH COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE CRV DOOR LOCKS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND HAVE ONLY TAKEN MY CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICES. *TR
BOUGHT VEHICLE USED IN 2008 WITH 18,000 MILES. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS BEGAN TO REALIZE THERE WAS A DEFINITE PULL TO THE RIGHT. WENT TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR MAINTENANCE OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS AND MENTIONED THIS PULL. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY PULL. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN THIS WEEK THEY SAID THEY WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY A PULL AND THEY SUGGESTED AN ALIGNMENT AND MANY OTHER MAINTENANCE TASKS TOTALING $3,700. I REPLACED MY TIRES AND THIS HELPED SOME WHAT, BUT THE PULL STILL EXISTS. AFTER CHECKING VARIOUS SITES, I'VE COME TO REALIZE PULLING TO THE RIGHT IS A COMMON ISSUE IN HONDA CR-VS. *TR
WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR THE RIGHT WHERE DID SOUND RIGHT SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY FOUND SOMETHING ROLLING AROUND IN THE WHEEL THERE BEEN THREE RECALLS SINCE I OWED THIS CAR THE LOCKS ARE CLICKIN ON AND OFF THE PROBLEM NEVER FIXED
DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT REMAIN LOCKED OR WILL LOCK AGAIN BEFORE WE CAN OPEN THE DOORS. *TR
THE CRV LOCKS THE DOORS AND TAILGATE AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES A CERTAIN SPEED. OUR CRV LOCKED ITSELF ACCORDING TO THIS PROTOCOL. WE THEN PARKED THE CAR, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND TRIED TO EXIT THE CAR. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK, AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO MANUALLY OVERRIDE THIS PROBLEM. WE EXITED VIA THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THEN DISCOVERED THAT THE TAILGATE WAS ALSO JAMMED IN THE LOCKED POSITION. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO SOLD IT, AND HE HAS TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO OVERRIDE THE LOCKING MECHANISM ONCE IT HAS JAMMED IN THE LOCKED POSITION. REPAIR WILL COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HAS TO BE DIS-ASSEMBLED FROM THE INSIDE. THE ABSENCE OF A MANUAL OVERRIDE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WE COULD HAVE BEEN LOCKED IN THE CAR WITH NO WAY TO GET OUT!! THANKFULLY ONLY TWO OF THE FIVE LOCKS FAILED!!!! *TR
WE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS ON OUR CR-V. THE LOCKS WILL NOT STAY OPEN FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS. ONE FOB KEY WILL OPEN THE DOOR. BUT WE HAVE TO BE READY TO OPEN THE DOOR AT THE EXACT SECOND WE HIT THE FOB. THE TURN KEY LOCK DOES NOT WORK. WHILE IN THE VEHICLE, WHETHER THE IGNITION IS ON OR OFF...IF WE HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON-IT LOCKS AGAIN IMMEDIATELY. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE INCASE OF AN EMERGENCY. WE CONTACTED OUR HONDA DEALER WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM IS THE DRIVER DOOR ACTUATOR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WE FOUND THIS TO A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM TO MAKE THE TV NEWS IN TWO DIFFERENT STATES. BEFORE FILING THIS COMPLAINT, I CALLED HONDA CORP AND EXPLAINED OUR ISSUE WITH THE CR-V AND FOUND THEIR RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE TO BE VERY BLAZAY. I EXPLAINED OUR RESEARCH FINDINGS AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE TO SEE IF IT IS A HONDA DEFECT OR OUR PROBLEM. THERE IS A CHARGE FOR THAT AS WELL. ALSO IN DOING THE RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT DOING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ALL THE DOORS WILL EVENTUALLY NEED A NEW ACTUATOR. THE PRICE IS $350 OR MORE PER DOOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA NEED TO ADDRESS. *TR
THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS AND UNLOCKS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING. I AM NOT ABLE TO LOCK MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. MY CAR IS ALWAYS UNLOCKED. VERY UNSAFE. FROM AUGUST 2013, RIGHT FRONT DOOR STARTED TO LOCK BY ITSELF RIGHT AFTER I UNLOCK IT. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE RIGHT REAR DOOR STARTED TO KEEP LOCKING ITSELF WITH VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN THE SPEED OF CAR REACHES 20~30 MILES/HOUR. IT WAS VERY ANNOYING AND I FIXED THE CAR, WHICH COST ME OVER $300. HOWEVER, NOW THE LEFT REAR DOOR STARTED TO KEEP LOCKING WHENEVER THE CAR REACHES TO THE SPEED OF 20~30 MILES/HOUR. *TR
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE LOCK ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR OF MY 2007 HONDA CR-V WOULD ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE LOCK SHIFTED EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, THEN WOULD CONTINUE TO UNLOCK AND RE-LOCK EVERY TIME I WENT ABOVE/BELOW 15 MPH. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, HOWEVER, THE LOCK WOULD RE-ENGAGE AND THE CAR WOULD REMAIN LOCKED. NOW THE LOCK ON THIS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AT ALL, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE LOCK ALSO DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. THE REMOTE LOCK DOES NOT WORK, EVEN THOUGH THE HORN BEEPS AND THE LOCKS ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE AS IF THE VEHICLE DOORS WERE ALL LOCKED AND REMAIN LOCKED. THIS MORNING (JULY 1, 2013) THE BACK REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED THIS ISSUE DURING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, AT WHICH TIME A HONDA-CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AT LEHIGH VALLEY HONDA TOLD ME THAT HE HAD "NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM" AND IT WOULD "PROBABLY JUST CLICK BACK INTO PLACE." I LATER MADE MENTION OF THE SAME PROBLEM DURING MY INSPECTION TWO WEEKS AGO, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE THAT DAY. I JUST SPOKE WITH THE SAME LOCATION AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 5 TO SEE IF THEY CAN "DIAGNOSE" THE PROBLEM. THE MANAGER TOLD ME HE DIDN'T WANT TO "DIAGNOSE THIS OVER THE PHONE" BUT INSIST THEY GIVE THE VEHICLE A COMPLETE WORKUP -- WHICH I AM FINE WITH, SO LONG AS I AM NOT BEING CHARGED FOR LABOR. THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY REAL SAFETY ISSUE, AS DOOR LOCKS THAT BECOME DISENGAGED WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING WOULD PUT ANYONE IN FEAR OF HAVING SMALL CHILDREN OR PETS IN THE BACK SEAT. I HOPE HONDA SEES IT NECESSARY TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE ACTUATOR, WHICH IS WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE CHIEF COMPLAINT AMONG OVER CR-V OWNERS. *TR
THE CAR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY 2-5 SECONDS AFTER IT IS PUT INTO GEAR. LATELY, THE LOCKS HAVE BEGUN TO UNLOCK AND RELOCK SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I GET TO MY DESTINATION, I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR, EITHER MANUALLY, WITH THE KEY FAB OR WITH THE LOCK BUTTON. I HAVE TO USE ONE HAND TO OPEN THE LOCK LEVER AND THE OTHER TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR. I HAVE ALSO LOCKED MY CAR, WENT INTO A STORE, AND COME BACK TO THE DOORS BEING UNLOCKED. VERY UNSAFE. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL IMMEDIATELY FOR REPAIR. BESIDES A CHILD BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, I AM VERY VULNERABLE TO SOMEONE ENTERING INTO MY CAR AND WAITING FOR ME. THE DOORS WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THERE OWN AT RANDOM TIMES. YOU CAN UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE KEY FOB AND THEY WILL RE-LOCK THEMSELVES WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AS THEY CAN UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING OR A CHILD COULD GET LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY WIDELY KNOWN ISSUE AT HONDA. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT REMAIN LOCKED. IT WILL UNLOCK BY ITSELF AND WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AT MORE THE 10 MPH THE LOCK WILL CYCLE BETWEEN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS OF A CR-V APPEAR TO BE HAVING. A PASSENGER MUST THAN RIDE WITH THE DOOR UNLOCKED AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. ALSO, THE CAR CAN'T BE SECURED WHEN PARKED. HONDA CORP. IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT MADE ANY EFFORT TO CORRECT IT. HONDA CORP. STATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY MILEAGE(36,000) IT IS THE OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. TO ME THIS SOUNDS MORE LIKE A DESIGN FLAW AND HONDA SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
WHILE RIDING THERE WAS A NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR AND IT WAS THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. THE LOCK KEPT LOCKING AND VERY SLOWLY UNLOCKING. WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR (MOTOR OFF) I TRIED IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULT. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKED AND THE SLOWLY JUST UNLOCKED BY ITSELF. PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR(S) ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE ON THEIR OWN - LOCKING DOOR WITHIN SECONDS ON DOOR BEING UNLOCKED AND UNLOCKING PASSENGER SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO ABILITY KEEP DOOR LOCKED WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD HAS EMERGED AS A RESULT OF THE DOOR ACTUATOR MALFUNCTION.
ON MONDAY JUNE 24, 2013, I PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, FASTENED THEIR CAR SEATS, WALKED AROUND TO MY DRIVER DOOR TO FIND IT LOCKED. MY CHILDREN WERE LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. (THANK GOODNESS I WAS STILL AT HOME AND WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE SPARE KEY) THE CAR IS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING ITSELF WITHIN SECONDS OF THE UNLOCK BUTTON BEING PRESSED ON THE REMOTE. IT LOCKS AND UNLOCKS ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AT THIS POINT (JULY 1, 2013) THIS AGAIN POSES A LARGE HAZARD TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN IN A CAR WHOSE DOORS UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY DEFECT! AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON SAFETY MALFUNCTION IN 2007 CRV'S, YET HONDA HAS NOT MADE A RECALL. I GUESS THEY ARE NOT THAT CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112, 626.
AFTER SHOPPING, USED CAR FOB TO UNLOCK DOORS. TAILGATE WAS STILL LOCKED. DRIVER SIDE SECOND ROW DOOR ALSO STILL LOCKED. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE DOORS UNLOCKED FAILED. USED KEY TO UNLOCK DRIVER DOOR. TRIED THE POWER LOCKS FROM THE INSIDE. OTHER THAN THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE CAR WAS STILL LOCKED. WENT TO DEALER, WHERE A TECH PHYSICALLY WRENCHED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TO OPEN. FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS, THE POWER LOCKS CONSTANTLY "KACHUNKED" AS I WAS DRIVING, TRYING TO REPEATEDLY LOCK AND UNLOCK. BACK TO DEALER, HAVING DISCOVERED THAT THE 2007 CR V HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKS. DEALER CLAIMED TO BE SURPRISED TO HEAR THIS. NO, HONDA WOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS A FLAW, AND I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE DOOR LOCKS FIXED. I TOLD THEM THAT THIS WAS HUGELY DANGEROUS, THAT RANDOMLY LOCKING DOORS WHICH WOULDN'T UNLOCK WERE A GENUINE HAZARD. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL HONDA CORPORATE TO NO AVAIL. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS SUFFICIENTLY DANGEROUS TO WARRANT A RECALL. *TR
THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WILL NOT LOCK AT ALL. THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WILL NOT UNLOCK 80% OF THE TIME. ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS RANDOMLY LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. SOMETIMES IF THE BUTTON IS PUSHED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, THE LOCKS WILL 'PROCESS' AND SOUND LIKE A MACHINE GUN AS THEY GO ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS IN A ROW. MY CHILD HAS OPENED THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR (EVEN THOUGH THE CHILD LOCK WAS ENGAGED) WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE SECURED WHEN LEFT UNATTENDED BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT STAY LOCKED, THUS PLACING IT AT ADDITIONAL RISK TO BE STOLEN. THE LOCKS ARE A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN TO MY FAMILY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE WEB, IT APPEARS THAT NUMEROUS 2007 HONDA CR-V'S HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
