TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED MY FIRST LETTER IN MARCH 2016, MY DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE. LETTER TELLS ME THAT I WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS BECOMES AVAILABLE. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE READY BY EARLY SUMMER. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED. IN JULY I RECEIVED A SECOND LETTER TELLING ME THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. IN THE FIRST LETTER THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER IF I WANTED A LOANER CAR, WHICH I DID BUT I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT DO THAT AND THEY WERE SURE NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN TO MY CAR. BY AUGUST I WAS REALLY GETTING UPSET THAT I HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING, SO I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED ABOUT THE PARTS, THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD ORDER THEM FOR ME AND LET ME KNOW WHEN THEY WERE IN. I AGAIN ASKED FOR A LOANER AND WAS TOLD AGAIN THEY DID NOT DO THAT. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE IT IN WRITING IN THE FIRST LETTER, I CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS, THEY SAID YES THEY WOULD INDEED HAVE TO SUPPLY ME WITH A LOANER. I CALLED DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THEY SAID NO. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA. I FEEL THAT NO ONE CARES AND I HAVE EXHAUSTED MY OPTIONS OTHER THAN GOING TO THE MEDIA WHICH I AM PLANNING TO DO THIS NEXT WEEK. I HAVE A CAR THAT I AM TOLD IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE YET I HAVE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THEY GET PARTS TO FIX IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE MY HUSBAND BACK AND FORTH TO THE DIALYSIS CLINIC, BACK AND FORTH TO HIS ONCOLOGIST, BACK AND FORTH TO HIS ENDOCRINOLOGIST, IN OTHER WORDS, WE ARE CONSTANTLY ON THE GO. I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT UNTIL OUR AIRBAGS EXPLODE FOR SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING!
THE FRONT AND REAR LOCKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAVE FAILED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LOCKED, THE PASSENGER SIDE LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO THE UNLOCK POSITION, REGARDLESS OF THE VEHICLE BEING STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. EVEN AFTER LOCKING THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED BY PASSENGERS OR PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS POSES A SERIOUS RISK FOR YOUNG PASSENGERS WHO MAY OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IN MOTION IF THE CHILD SAFETY LEVER IS NOT ACTIVATED. I HAVE ALREADY PAID THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LOCK ACTUATOR, BUT AFTER THE FRONT LOCK ACTUATOR REPAIR, THE REAR LOCK ACTUATOR BROKE. IN 2015, HONDA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE LOCKS, BUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS FROM THE ISSUE DATE OF THE LETTER. MY LOCK ACTUATORS BROKE SHORTLY AFTER THE END OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE HONDA REPAIR THE LOCKS AS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN AND THEY REFUSED. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE TO DETERMINE THAT THE DEFECTIVE LOCK ACTUATORS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL IS NECESSARY. PLEASE REFER TO CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS [70 FR 39966, JULY 12, 2005] 571.206 STANDARD NO. 206; DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS. -S4.1.3.2 SIDE REAR DOOR LOCKS. IN PASSENGER CARS AND MULTIPURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLES, WHEN THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS ENGAGED BOTH THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE DOOR HANDLES OR OTHER LATCH RELEASE CONTROLS SHALL BE INOPERATIVE.
I RECEIVED MY FIRST RECALL LETTER NOTICE IN MARCH 2016, I CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO CHANGE THE AIR BAG, BUT THEY SAID THEY WILL CALL ME BACK WHEN THE PART ARRIVED. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE IN JUNE, 2016 AND ASKED AGAIN ABOUT MY AIR BAG. THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN THE AIR BAG ARRIVED. I RECEIVED THE SECOND RECALL LETTER IN JULY, 2016. I CALLED AND THEY SAID THEY WILL CALL ME BACK. I'VE BEEN CALLING COUPLE OF TIMES AFTER JULY, AND I HEARD THE SAME THING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT TAKES TOO LONG, I HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS THAT CHANGED THEIR AIR BAGS IN A PERIOD NO LONGER THAN 2 WEEKS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR, BUT I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER OPTION SINCE THE CAR IS MY MAINLY WAY OF TRANSPORTATION.

TAKATA RECALL MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CALLED THE DEALER (PENSACOLA HONDA)-POOR RESULTS. AM TOLD THE PARTS 'MAY' ARRIVE LATE MAY'16, AND INSTALLATION BEGINS IN JUN'16. THEY TOLD BY SUMMER!! INFORMATION SUGGESTS THAT OLDER CARS ('07) IN HOT/HUMID LOCATIONS (MILTON, FL) ARE THE MOST AT RISK. I WAS PREVIOUSLY UNAWARE OF HOW LONG THIS ISSUE HAS PERSISTED!!! CALLED THE AMERICAN HONDA NUMBER, AGAIN-POOR RESULTS. I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAND, AND SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. I WISH TO -SELL IT- AND BE DONE WITH THE PROBLEM, BUT NO PERSON, NOR A DEALERSHIP IS INTERESTED IN A CAR WITH A SAFETY RECALL AND A REPAIR TIMELINE THAT STRETCHES FOR MONTHS. IN THE MEANWHILE I HAVE A REGISTRATION RENEWAL DUE, AND AM PAYING INSURANCE ON A CAR I AM AFRAID FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE. THE VALUE OF THIS CAR HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED, AND I AM UNABLE TO SELL. HONDA WANTS TO MAKE AVAILABLE A LOANER CAR, BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP TO OFFSET DIMINISHED VALUE, LOSS OF RESALE, STORAGE AND ONGOING DEPRECIATION ISSUES.

TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED NOTICE OF TAKATA INFLATOR NOTICE FIRST PART OF MARCH 2016, CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JUNE 2016. I TOLD THEM THAT I DRIVE 500 MILES PER WEEK AND FELT THAT THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE. IT IS NOW MID JUNE AND PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE OFFERED ME A RENTAL CAR. I AM VERY UNHAPPY THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE IN TEXAS, A HIGH PRIORITY REPLACEMENT AREA SINCE MARCH WITHOUT REMEDY.

CALLED DEALER SERVICE WEEK OF 07/11 WAS TOLD PART WOULD BE ORDERED BUT NOT AVAILABLE. CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER. CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD A CASE MANAGER WOULD BE ASSIGNED. HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE AT HONDA. I WOULD HAVE SOLD THIS CAR IF I KNEW IT WOULD TAKE THIS LONG TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG. HONDA CONTINUES TO SELL CARS AND THEY HAVE AIRBAGS. MY CAR SITS AND I PAY INSURANCE FOR SOMETHING THAT IS UNSAFE. THERE ARE OTHER HONDA OWNERS WHO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THEIR CARS TAKING A RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN HANDLED IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER WITH THE LEVEL OF URGENCY IT SHOULD HAVE FROM HONDA AND THE NHTA.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKS FUNCTIONED INDEPENDENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND TRUNK DID NOT UNLOCK. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE MADE ABNORMAL NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATORS IN THE TRUNK, REAR DRIVER, AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 171,000.
AFTER I HAD MY HONDA REPAIRED DUE TO A RECALL FOR SOMETHING DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH ITS SUSPENSION, MY TIRES CAN NOT BE BALANCED AND THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT GO OUT. THE AC JUST STOPPED WORKING PRIOR TO THE SUMMER OF 2015,. THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING ABOUT THE SAME TIME AND NOW THE STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR WAS GETTING ITS TIRES REPLACED WHEN THE TIRES WOULD NOT BALANCE AND THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE STARTER WOULD NOT WORK AFTER I LEFT AN APPOINTMENT IN THE PARKING LOT. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE CAR WAS MOVIG OR STATIONARY WHEN THE DOOR STOPPED WORKING.

TAKATA RECALL THE DEALER, MIKE PIAZZA HONDA IN LANGHORNE, PA HAS PROVIDED INCORRECT INFORMATION LEADING TO A DELAY OF THE ORDER OF THE AIRBAG. THE AIRBAG WAS NOT ORDERED BY THEM UNTIL 06/01/2016, IT IS NOW 07/19/2016 AND THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED BY THEM IN MARCH OF 2016 WHICH IS ALSO WHEN WE FIRST CONTACTED THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL/REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG. AS OF TODAY (07/19/2016), THE DEALER DOES STILL NOT HAVE THE PART. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT AT BOTH AMERICAN HONDA FOR NOT PROVIDING ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF THE RECALLED AIRBAGS TO THEIR DEALERS AND TO PIAZZA HONDA FOR NOT ORDERING THE PART IN A TIMELY FASHION WHEN RECEIPT OF THE RECALL WAS RECEIVED IN MARCH. THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT HAS BEEN HANDLED VERY NEGLIGENTLY BY BOTH AMERICAN HONDA AND MIKE PIZZA HONDA. SPECIFICALLY, IN SOME VEHICLES, THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIRBAG INFLATOR COULD PRODUCE EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE UPON DEPLOYMENT. IF AN AFFECTED AIRBAG DEPLOYS, THE INCREASED INTERNAL PRESSURE MAY CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO RUPTURE (BREAK APART) AND DEPLOY ABNORMALLY. SAFETY RISK: IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY TO YOU OR OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE. PAST RUPTURES LIKE THIS HAVE KILLED AND INJURED VEHICLE DRIVERS.
TAKATA RECALL- I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FIRST NHTSA RECALL #16V-061 (HONDA RECALL #KA6) ON FEBRUARY 12, 2016 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVER FRONT AIRBAG AND STILL NO REMEDY/PARTS AVAILABLE. THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN OVER SIX MONTHS WITHOUT REPAIR OR ANY FUTURE DATE OF REPAIR IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND NEGLIGENT. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SECOND NHTSA RECALL #16V-346 (HONDA RECALL #JY0) FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ON MAY 23, 2016. AGAIN THIS ALSO HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND NEGLIGENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY MIDSUMMER. NEXT WEEK WILL BE SEPTEMBER AND STILL NO NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA. MY SAFETY AND MY LIFE ARE IMPORTANT.
