DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON REAR PASSENGER DOOR BEGAN TO GIVE OUT AND RATTLE WHEN TRYING TO LOCK OR UNLOCK. IT ALSO FAILED TO UNLOCK OR LOCK AND AT TIMES LOCKED AND UNLOCKED ON ITS OWN. LOCK WAS REPLACED. JUST RECENTLY, THE DRIVER DOOR DID THE SAME AND IT WAS ALSO REPLACED. NOW THE DRIVER REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. SOMETIMES THE DOOR LOCKS AND UNLOCKS AUTOMATICALLY OR WHEN I UNLOCK THE DOOR, IT QUICKLY RELOCKS. SAME RATTLING NOISE AS OTHER TWO DOORS. *TR
PREMATURELY WORN REAR BRAKE PADS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. ONE YEAR CHANGE FROM 6 MM (LEFT REAR-INNER PAD AND OUTER PAD), 6 MM (RIGHT REAR-INNER PAD AND OUTER PAD) TO 1 MM (LEFT REAR-INNER PAD AND OUTER PAD), 0 MM (RIGHT REAR-INNER PAD AND OUTER PAD). FRONT PADS REMAINED AT 8MM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND COULD NOT BE OPENED WITH THE KEY OR MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE DOOR ACTUATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE COMPUTER CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN NOVEMBER 2007. IT IS A 2008 HONDA CR-V 5DR 2WD EX. A COUPLE/FEW YEARS BACK, THE LOCKS STARTED ACTING UP. IT WAS ALWAYS THE SAME TWO, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND THE REAR DOOR. I WOULD PUSH THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY KEY, AND THE OTHER 3 DOORS WOULD UNLOCK, BUT THOSE 2 WOULD NOT. I TRIED USING THE UNLOCK/LOCK BUTTONS ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR, AND AFTER HITTING THE LOCK BUTTON FIRST AND THEN UNLOCK SEVERAL TIMES, IT WOULD WORK AND THOSE 2 DOORS WOULD EVENTUALLY UNLOCK. AND THEN SOMETIMES ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY WOULD START UNLOCKING AGAIN USING THE KEY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ANNOYANCE FOR THE PAST 2-3 YEARS. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE OR MILEAGE WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. PROBABLY ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THEY FINALLY STOPPED COMPLETELY. THEY WILL NOT UNLOCK AT ALL USING THE KEY OR THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE PASSENGER ONE, OF COURSE, I CAN MANUALLY UNLOCK FROM THE INSIDE IF NEEDED. BUT THE REAR I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF OPENING THAT DOOR. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!! IT HAS BEEN A COMPLETE PAIN TO NOT HAVE THAT STORAGE AREA. I HAVE HAD TO LOWER THE BACK SEATS TO PUT ANYTHING IN THERE. IT ALSO CAUSED ME TO INCUR DAMAGE TO MY CAR THIS YEAR. I HAD A FLAT AND NEEDED THE SPARE TIRE. WELL, I HAD TO CLIMB THROUGH THE DOORS INTO THE BACK WHERE MY SPARE WAS, ONLY TO REALIZE YOU COULDN'T GET TO THE SPARE BECAUSE THE REAR DOOR WAS IN THE WAY. SO I HAD TO RIP THE BACK FLAP TO GET TO THE TIRE. SO THAT WILL COST ME MONEY TO FIX. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE DEALER TELLING ME EACH ACTUATOR WILL COST OVER $300 TO GET REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCHING TRYING TO FIND THIS ACTUATOR PART, I CAME ACROSS THE LAWSUIT AND MANY MANY OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOUNDS LIKE HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THIS AND PAY FOR FIXING THEIR PROBLEM!!! *TR
THIS IS MY SECOND 2008 CRV - MY FIRST I OWNED FOR 1-2 DAYS BEFORE RETURNING TO DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM THE FRONT END WAS NOT BALANCED CORRECTLY. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND COULD NOT. I REFUSED TO KEEP IT AND I RECEIVED A NEW CAR A WEEK LATER. HOWEVER, SINCE THEN I AM NOW ON MY THIRD SET OF TIRES - EVEN THOUGH I ROTATE, ALIGN AND BALANCE REGULARLY AND I JUST REACHED 40,000 MILES ON MY CAR. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I JUST FAILED MY STATE INSPECTION DUE TO A FAILED SEAL AND LEAK IN THE STEERING RACK AND PINION AREA. OF COURSE THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY NOW. HOWEVER, IT'S NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM - IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE - BUT NONETHELESS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO PAY FOR THE PART $1,200, BUT I MUST PAY FOR THE LABOR OF JUST UNDER $800.00 . UNFORTUNATELY I'M NOT ALL THAT POSITIVE THE NEW PART THEY WILL BE PUTTING IN IS ANY BETTER THAN THE FAULTY ONE THAT IS ALREADY IN MY CAR! I HAVE ALREADY PUT THREE SETS OF TIRES ON THIS SECOND NEW CAR AND NOW I MUST PAY FOR YET ANOTHER FAULTY ISSUE. PERHAPS THE WHEEL BALANCE ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE FAULTY STEERING AS THEY ARE CONNECTED. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE HONDA WILL RECOGNIZE THEY HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE CR-V?? MY NEXT CAR WILL NOT BE A HONDA! *TR
A/C SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING - BLOWING HOT AIR ON 100-DEGREE DAY DEALER FOUND THAT COMPRESSOR HAD FAILED, AND WILL REPLACE IT. *TR
LOCK ON RIGHT FRONT DOOR HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS. IT STARTED BY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING BY ITSELF. NOW IT IS MAKING A HORRIBLE SOUND EVERY TIME I LOCK OR UNLOCK IT. I HAVE ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT GETTING STUCK IN THE CAR WHEN IT DECIDED TO LOCK AND "NOT" UNLOCK. I HAVE BEEN ASSISTING A 92 YEAR OLD WOMEN. IMAGINE IF SHE WAS STUCK IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF A LOCKING PROBLEM OR IMAGINE A CHILD STUCK IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND IT IS SOMETHING THAT HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF. THANK YOU!
I WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE IN GARAGE WITH MY 2008 HONDA CRV. PUT BRAKE ON AND HEARD LOUD REVVING SOUND OF ENGINE (LIKE WHEN A CAR PEELS OUT FROM A STOP LIGHT). THE BRAKE DID NOTHING AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD WITH THE REVVING RIGHT INTO THE CONCRETE WALL OF THE GARAGE. IT HIT SO HARD IT MADE MY GLASSES FLY OFF MY FACE. IT BOUNCED OFF THE CONCRETE WALL ABOUT 3-4 FEET AND STOPPED. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME. AFTER THE CAR STOPPED, THERE WAS A REALLY BAD SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT THE CAR IMPACTED A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER. FORTUNATELY, I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON. THE SHOULDER STRAP JAMMED FROM THE IMPACT AND COULD NOT BE LOOSENED. AFTER I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS REMAINED ON AND THE BAD SMELL INTENSIFIED. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED, I WAS TOLD IT "WAS NOT DRIVABLE" BY THE HONDA DEALER WHERE IT WAS TOWED. THE DEALER WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR OR GO SMELL THE ODOR AS "IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND NEEDED TO HAVE THE BODY WORK DONE FIRST." I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD SMELL FOR THE ODOR AFTER THE BODY WAS FIXED. *TR
THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS AND UNLOCKS RANDOMLY AND IT HAS BEEN RECURRING MORE OFTEN RECENTLY. IT NOW MAKES A TERRIBLE SOUND WHEN IT UNLOCKS. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGER BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE PASSENGER TO UNLOCK THE DOOR; THE DRIVER HAS TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO UNLOCK AND THE PASSENGER HAS ONLY A SPLIT SECOND TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE UNLOCKED DOOR BEFORE IT RELOCKS AGAIN. THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR THE PASSENGER TO GET OUT OF THE CAR THROUGH THE DOOR IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. *TR
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR - REAR BRAKE PADS WORN OUT AT 25000 MILES. *KB
A FEW WEEKS BEFORE MY 36 MONTH WARRANTY WAS UP, MY DOOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT IN THE LEFT REAR DOOR. IT WAS REPLACED AND WORKED FINE UNTIL RECENTLY 18 MONTHS LATER IT SEEMS THE SAME DOOR ACTUATOR HAS GONE OUT. I AM TAKING IT IN TO BE REPLACED FOR OVER $200 WHICH IS A BIT MUCH FOR A LIMITED INCOME. THE DOOR IS WORSE NOW THAN BEFORE IN THAT IT KEEPS CYCLING LOCKING AND UNLOCKING AS I'M DRIVING. I THINK HONDA SHOULD REPLACE FOR FREE AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE. *TR

THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT LOCKS AND DOES NOT ALLOW REASONABLE FREE MOVEMENT OF THE PASSENGER. THIS PREMATURE LOCKING OCCURS WHILE THE PASSENGER IS SITTING NORMALLY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND CAUSES MY SPOUSE OR I TO REFRAIN FROM USING THE PASSENGER SAFETY/SEAT BELT. AGENCIES PROMOTE SAFETY AND MANDATORY USE BUT THE DESIGN CAUSES ONE TO NEGLECT WEARING IT AND I'M AN ADVOCATE FOR WEARING MY SEAT BELT IN MY 2008 HONDA CR-V UNLESS I'M IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ALSO, DOES THIS LOCKING POSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN ITSELF DURING A SUDDEN STOP FRONTAL COLLISION? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE CONTACT HEARD THE GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL AND TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WOULD NOW HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
OUR 2008 HONDA CRV HAVE A PREMATURELY WORN OUT REAR BRAKE PADS. WHILE THE FRONT PADS ARE STILL 80% LEFT, THE REAR ONES WERE TOTALLY GONE AND DAMAGED THE ROTOR. THE DEALER WHERE I FIXED THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED THIS TO THE ACCORD SETTLEMENT HONDA HAS (HTTP://ACCORDSETTLEMENT.COM/). AFTER READING THE DETAILS OF THE SETTLEMENT, I BELIEVE THIS APPLIES TO MY CASE AS WELL. BUT UNFORTUNATELY HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DENIED IT. BUT WHAT ELSE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PREMATURE WEAR OUT OF THE REAR BREAK WITH 23000 MILES? HOW CAN THEY EXPLAIN THAT THE FRONT PADS (ALL ORIGINAL) STILL HAVE 80% LEFT? I BELIEVE HONDA USED THE SAME DEFECTIVE MATERIALS THAT THEY USED IN THE ACCORD. HOPEFULLY MORE COMPLAINTS WILL BE LOGGED FROM CRV DRIVERS TO BRING THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION. BUT NO MATTER WHAT, AFTER HAVING THREE DEFECTIVE HONDAS, THIS WILL BE THE LAST HONDA VEHICLES IN OUR FAMILY!!

THE CONTACT THEN ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BEARINGS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,000.
ON 4/24/2011 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:15 PM MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING ON THE HWY IN ARKANSAS IN HER 2008 HONDA CR-V AT A SPEED OF 70 MILES PER HOUR. SHE HAD A COLLISION WITH A DEER AND HER AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. HER SEATBELT RESTRAINED HER FROM HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME SHE HAS HAD A HIT WITH A DEER AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE HAS SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE THIS TIME AND IS NOT OPERATIONAL DUE TO ENGINE AND BODY DAMAGE. SHE HAS SUFFERED BRUISING AND A STIFF NECK DUE TO THE IMPACT. THE ARKANSAS STATE POLICE WAS CONTACTED TO ASSIST HER, BUT THEY NEVER SHOWED. *TR
THE HONDA CRV LOCKS AND WILL NOT RELEASE IT TAKES SOME TIME PUSHING ON THE LOCKS AND SO FORTH TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO HAVE THE DOORS LOCK AND NOT RELEASE. IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO HAPPEN PANIC COULD SET IN AND PEOPLE COULD BURN UP IN THE CAR. OR DIE TRYING TO GET OUT. MY DAUGHTER AND HER GRANDBABY ARE IN THIS VEHICLE ALL THE TIME. I AM AFRAID FOR THEIR LIFE. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY I SAY IT IS HEALTH AND SAFETY AND NO TIME LIMIT EXISTS FOR A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM. *TR
ON MARCH 23, 2011, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN MVA IN NORTHERN CA. I WAS TRAVELING WEST ON HWY. 80 ON A DOWNGRADE. TRAFFIC HAD COME TO A STOP DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. IT HAD BEEN SNOWING AND I WAS TRAVELING AT 25 MPH IN SECOND GEAR. MY VEHICLE IS A HONDA 2008 CRV WITH AUTO 4WD. I TAPPED MY BRAKE AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I TAPPED IT AGAIN WITH NO RESPONSE. I APPLIED STEADY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH NO RESPONSE. THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. THEY WERE NOT SLOWING OR STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO DRIVE INTO THE CONCRETE DIVIDER TO STOP MY CAR. THERE WAS MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BUT FORTUNATELY, MY PASSENGER AND I WERE ABLE TO WALK AWAY WITH MINOR INJURIES. I HAVE ALREADY NOTIFIED HONDA AND THEY HAVE AGREED TO CONDUCT AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS RELEASED FROM THE BODY SHOP. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO BRAKE ISSUES IN THEIR DATA BASE FOR MY MODEL OF VEHICLE. I ASKED THEM IF MY INCIDENT WOULD BE REPORTED TO YOUR OFFICE. THEY SAID "NO, THEY DID NOT REPORT INDIVIDUAL INCIDENTS SUCH AS MINE UNTIL THERE WERE SEVERAL REPORTED TO THEM". THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS WAS NOT GIVEN TO ME. I FIND THIS STRANGE. SO I DECIDED I WOULD REPORT THIS DIRECTLY TO YOU. MY VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED FOR COMPLETION NEXT WEEK. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF MY VEHICLE PRIOR TO HONDA CONDUCTING THEIR "INSPECTION". I KNOW THIS MAY SOUND AS THOUGH I DO NOT TRUST THAT HONDA WILL CONDUCT THEIR INVESTIGATION WITH INTEGRITY. PERHAPS IF TOYOTA HAD BEEN MORE FORTH COMING WITH THEIR PROBLEMS, I WOULD BE MORE TRUSTING. POWER STEERING RACK LEAKING AND REQUIRED TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF RACK AND PINION STEERING RACK. TOLD THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE BY DEALERSHIP THAT REPAIRED THE CAR.
HAVING VIBRATIONS WHEN APPLYING BRAKE , ESPECIALLY ON A DOWNGRADE GOING 60 PLUS MPH! TOOK IT TO DEALER TWICE, THE FIRST I HAD TO PAY FOR RESURFACING ROTORS AND REUSING MY OLD PADS, BIG MISTAKE! NOW DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME SUGGESTS FOR ME TO PAY ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS, JUST CRAZY! I ONLY HAVE 22,000 MILES AND I'M STILL UNDER MY THREE YEAR OR 35,000 MILES WARRANTY! BIG [XXX]! SORRY! THE VEHICLE DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. THIS DRIFT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CROWN OF THE ROAD. IT DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT ON PERFECTLY FLAT ROADS. I THOUGHT THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED, BUT AFTER THE FIRST WHEEL ALIGNMENT (AT THE HONDA DEALER IN TALLAHASSEE) THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND CONTINUED TO PERSIST AFTER SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS TO ALIGN THE WHEELS. THE DEALERSHIP CONSULTED WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN CALIFORNIA AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT WAS REPLACED. THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT BOTH IT AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT COULD NOT BE FIXED. THE DEALER CALLED IT "MEMORY STEER" AND SAID IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 CR-V. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT IT MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH BEING UNABLE TO ADJUST THE CAMBER ON THIS VEHICLE. I'VE NOTED NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SEVEN TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. THE VEHICLE STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FLUID WAS NOT COMING THROUGH THE HOSE FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE ATTACHMENT TO THE BODY OF THE ENGINE THAT HAD SNAPPED DUE TO A COLLISION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

EDGES OF THE CAR ARE TALLER THAN THE WINDSHIELD WHICH TRAPS ICE ON THE SIDE EDGES AS WELL AND ALSO DAMAGES THE WIPER BLADES, PREVENTING THEM FROM WORKING. ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE. DEALER UNABLE TO FIX PROBLEM. MY 19 YR. OLD DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 10-4-10 IN WHICH THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF HER 2008 HONDA CR-V EX-L APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN HIT "HEAD ON".
