I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT MY OFFICE, SPEED < 5MPH, APPLIED THE BRAKES TO MAKE THE TURN. THERE WERE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AT THE SITE, SPEED BUMPS AND CHILDREN COMING AND GOING. I WAS VERY ATTENTIVE TO ALL THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AS I TURNED INTO THE SPOT. SUDDENLY THERE WAS AN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION OF THE CAR WITH NO ABILITY TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE, WHICH DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT A BRICK WALL THAT WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CAR, PERHAPS JUST 8-10 FEET AWAY. WHEN THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO BRAKE DID NOT WORK, I HIT THE BRAKE A SECOND TIME. STILL NOTHING. AFTER I HIT THE WALL, A CONTRACTION WORKER WHO SAW THE ENTIRE THING CAME OVER TO CHECK ON ME. (I DID HAVE A SEATBELT ON, AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.) I FELT LIKE I WAS OKAY, BUT WAS SHOOK UP AND CONFUSED. I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE STATED THAT HE COULD SMELL THE BRAKES, WHICH WERE SO HOT FROM TRYING TO STOP THE CAR. SUBSTANTIAL FRONT END DAMAGE WAS INCURRED, AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. ASSESSMENT THERE SHOWED THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE ITSELF AND THERE WAS PLENTY OF BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS ANOTHER INCIDENT, LIKE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED, WHERE THE CAR ACCELERATES AS THE BRAKES ARE TAPPED. I CONSIDER THIS CAR TO BE DANGEROUS AT THIS POINT, AND I AM WAITING FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO DETERMINE IF THEY WILL TOTAL IT. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, BUT HAVE HAD A FEW TIMES WHEN THERE WAS A LAG IN THE ACCELERATION. I HAVEN'T TALKED TO HONDA YET, BUT I WILL DO SO THIS WEEKEND.

THE RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED THREE TIMES SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE -- 8/17/2013 (53,031MI), 1/19/16 (87,263MI) AND 10/12/16 (99,460MI).

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY WITHOUT WARNING AND LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
FOR AT LEAST 50,000 MILES, MY 2010 CRV SEEMED TO BE BURNING OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. IN ABOUT 2000 MILE INTO THE OIL CHANGE, I'D NOTICE MY OIL LIGHT COME ON OR HEAR SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. THEN, I'F CHECK THE OIL AND IT WAS A QUARTER LOW. BUT, THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE GROUND ANYWHERE I PARKED. SO IT WAS NOT LEAKING OIL. I KEPT THINKING IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. I KEPT LOOKING FOR RECALLS TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO ISSUE. I BOUGHT A FIXD APP AND NEVER SAW AN ISSUE POP UP FOR OIL.
I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP IN 2015 TO CHECK FOR OIL LEAK SINCE THE OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THEY DID NOT FIND ANY LEAKS AND SAID THE CAR WAS WORKING AS NORMAL. I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN IN 2016 2 MONTHS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I GOGGLED IT AND FOUND THAT MY CAR WAS SUBJECT TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE ISSUE UNTIL 8 YEARS OR 125K MILES. I CONTACTED MY NEW DEALERSHIP AND TOOK MY CAR IN. MY ADVISOR STATED THAT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WOULD NEED TO BE DONE WHICH CONSISTED OF AND OIL CHANGE AND BRINGING IT BACK IN 1000 MILES LATER TO SEE MORE THAN 1 QUART OF OIL HAD BEEN BURNED. SINCE I WOULD BE OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD AT THE END OF THE TEST I CONTACTED HONDA DIRECTLY TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD BE COVERED. I SPOKE WITH REBECCA WHO ASSURED ME THAT SINCE I HAD STARTED THE TEST BEFORE THE WARRANTY PERIOD WAS OVER I WOULD BE FULLY COVERED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AT 1000 MILES AND THAT SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE. IN JAN 2017 MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS BURNING MORE OIL THAN 1 QUART PER 1000 MILES. MY CAR NOW HAD 127653 MILES. HONDA IS NOW REFUSING TO FIX THE ISSUE UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I SPOKE WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CORP AND SHE STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE COVERED SINCE THE PROCESS WAS STARTED BEFORE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED THAT INFORMATION WAS NOT CORRECT AND SHE WOULD GIVE A COACHING TO THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NOTED MY FILE.
BOTH THE BRAKE AND VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) WARNING LIGHTS ARE LIT UP ON INSTRUMENT PANEL, EVEN WHEN PARKING BRAKE IS NOT ENGAGED AND VSA NOT BEING USED. ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER (BELOW 40) THESE WARNING LIGHTS TURN ON WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING; BUT SOMETIMES ALSO IN WARMER WEATHER (BELOW MID 50S). ISSUE JUST STARTED NOV. 2016, SO NOT SURE IF LIGHTS WILL GO ON IN WARM WEATHER. DEALER COULD NOT CORRECT. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT PRECEDING THE FAULTY WARNING LIGHTS.

TAKATA RECALL - MY WIFE WAS REAR ENDED ON / ABOUT 7 SEPTEMBER 2016. SHE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT BEHIND A TRUCK. A DRIVER NOT PAYING ATTENTION REAR ENDED HER VEHICLE CAUSING HER VEHICLE TO COLLIDE INTO THE TRUCK, ALSO STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT, IN FRONT OF HER VEHICLE.

THEY SAID THAT THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS FOR FIXING THE ISSUE AND THEY ARE NOT READY TO PROVIDE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION. IT SEEMS THIS DEALER AND HONDA DON'T CARE FOR LIVES. HOPE SOMEONE LOOKS INTO THE ISSUE

TAKATA RECALL: HONDA USA INSISTS THAT A DRIVER CONTINUES TO DRIVE A CAR WITHOUT FIXING A PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG ONCE A DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG IS REPLACED. I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY FAMILY IN MY CAR TIME TO TIME. HONDA MUST PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR FOR CUSTOMERS UNTIL THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS FIXED. I CALLED THE HONDA USA THREE TIMES; THEIR CASE MANAGE NEVER CALLED ME BACK SINCE LAST WEEK.

TAKATA RECALL...HONDA'S MISLEADING INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING, DENIED TEMPORARY WORKAROUND FOR, AND LIABILITY RELEASE WAIVER REQUIREMENT.... IN MARCH 2016 I GET A LETTER FROM HONDA CORPORATE INFORMING ME OF THE RECALL THAT SAID DO NOTHING AND THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE IN SUMMER. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TODAY (AUGUST) TO FOLLOW UP, I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I HADN'T CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN MARCH, THEY NEVER ORDERED MY PARTS. I READ THEM THE LETTER, VERBATIM, AND ASKED WHERE DOES IT SAY I WAS SUPPOSE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE YOU'D ORDER PARTS? REP HAD NO ANSWER. THE LETTER ALSO SPOKE OF A PROVISION FOR "TEMPORARY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION," YET WHEN I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHAT THAT WAS ABOUT, I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. I CALLED NATIONAL HONDA TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LETTER THAT WOULD HAVE TOLD ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP HAD "BEEN DELAYED" BUT THAT THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE OFFERED ME A LOANER. I CALLED BACK, AND WAS TOLD THAT TO GET A LOANER I MUST DRIVE THE UNSAFE CAR TO THEM TO HAVE THE MILEAGE VERIFIED, THEN, SIGN A WAIVER RELEASING HONDA FROM LIABILITY IF SOMETHING HAPPENED WHEN I DROVE THAT UNSAFE CAR HOME. IF THE VEHICLE IS SO UNSAFE TO DRIVE THAT I MUST SIGN A WAIVER TO TAKE IT HOME, THEN WHY DO THEY REQUIRE ME TO DRIVE IT THERE SO THAT THEY CAN SEE HOW MANY MILES ARE ON IT? ALSO, TO PICK UP THE LOANER CAR, I'D NEED A PASSENGER TO DRIVE IT HOME WHILE I DROVE THE UNSAFE VEHICLE HOME, BUT THIS WOULD PUT THE PASSENGER AT RISK WHEN WE DROVE TO HONDA SO THAT THEY CAN SEE THE MILEAGE AND TO PICK UP THE LOANER CAR. THE LOGIC ESCAPES ME. HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE A LOANER CAR TO MY HOME, HAVE THEM LOOK AND VERIFY MY MILEAGE WHILE THEY'RE HERE, AND THEN NO ONE HAS TO DRIVE THE UNSAFE CAR!
DRIVER'S AIRBAG INFLATOR - RECALL SINCE FEBRUARY 12, 2016.
TAKATA RECALL---I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR WELL OVER 2 MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME TO REMIND THE RECALL.
TAKATA AIRBAGS - SINCE THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED AND THE FIRST LETTER RECEIVED, NOVEMBER- DECEMBER 2015, THE DATE UPON WHICH THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS HAS CONTINUED TO BE PUSHED BACK. IT IS NOW AUGUST 2016 AND MY DAUGHTER, WHO DRIVES THE CAR, LEAVES FOR COLLEGE IN 8 DAYS, AND SHE WILL BE DRIVING HER CAR. MEANWHILE ANOTHER LETTER ARRIVES LAST WEEK SAYING THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS ALSO RECALLED IN ADDITION TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WHY A COMPANY SUCH AS HONDA WOULD HAVE HID THIS KNOWLEDGE FROM THE VERY FIRST RECALL IS APPALLING, MY DAUGHTER IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RENTAL CAR THEY ARE OFFERING BECAUSE SHE IS NOT YET 21. AGAIN, SHE LEAVES IN 8 DAYS FOR HER FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE. INITIALLY, I USED THE HONDA WEBSITE TO ENTER THE CARS INFORMATION AND VERY THE RECALL. I PROVIDED A PLACE TO CLICK AND CHOOSE A DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE PARTS. ONLY PROBLEM IS THE EVEN THOUGH IT LET YOU CHOOSE A DEALERSHIP, IT DID NOT SHARE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THE CARS INFO SO THAT THE PARTS COULD BE ORDERED. I SUPPOSE THIS SHOULD NOT MATTER SINCE THE COMPANY CAN NOT REPAIR THE AIRBAGS AND LEAVES MY DAUGHTERS LIFE IN DANGER. ET, THEIR HONDA WEBSITE WAS NOT AS EFFICIENT AS THEY WOULD LIKE IT TO SEEM.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE NHTSA RECALL 16V-346 DATED JULY 2016. I CALLED HONDA ON JULY 28 TO GET A LOANER CAR. TODAY, AUGUST 3, I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD ONLY A CASE MANAGER COULD AUTHORIZE A LOANER. I ASKED WHY I HADN'T HEARD FROM THE SO-CALLED CASE MANAGER. WHEN I WAS GIVEN THE BUREAUCRATIC RUN AROUND, I ASKED FOR THE NUMBER OF THE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE CASE MANAGERS WERE LOCATED. THIS WAS BEFORE MY FIRST OIL CHANGE. I CONTINUED TO ADD OIL AS THE SOUND RE-OCCURRED, 2-4 QUARTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I REPEATEDLY QUESTIONED THE CONSUMPTION BUT NO MALFUNCTION WAS FOUND. JULY OF 2011 HONDA ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH (TSB#11-033). IN NOVEMBER 2011, THE DEALER DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION SOFTWARE UPDATE. AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTINUAL COST FOR SYNTHETIC OIL REMAINED AND THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. AN OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL ISSUED IN 2015. THE CAR FAILED THE OIL TEST HONDA DID REQUIRED SERVICE AS PER RECALL PROTOCOL. THE TECH INDICATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. HONDA AGREED TO PAY 50% OF THE CC REPAIR. ON 8/10/16 (67942MI) WE WERE ALREADY 1QT LOW AFTER ONLY 500MI AND THEY ASKED US TO DO AN OIL CHANGE WHEN WE WERE ONLY AT 40% ACCORDING TO THE "OIL LIFE" INDICATOR. BY 12/2/16 WHEN WE FINISHED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET BACK WITH US, THEY SAID OUR OIL CONSUMPTION WAS "WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS" ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY.
