DEFROSTER AND VENT HEAT DOES NOT HEAT PROPERLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, PASSENGER SIDE WORKS NORMALLY. LACK OF PROPER FUNCTION CAUSES WIND SHIELD TO FOG AND OBSTRUCT VISION. HONDA DEALER SAYS HEATER CORE IS PARTIALLY BLOCKED CAUSING THIS ISSUE. DEALER SAYS THERE IS A TECH BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS MODEL, BUT IT IS A KNOW PROBLEM ON SOME CR-VS.
PASSENGER SIDE HAS HEAT, WHILE NO HEAT ON DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE. THE 2013 HONDA CRV HAS LESS THAN 24K MILES AND IS ALREADY HAVING A PLUGGED/FAULTY HEATING CORE. THESE PROBLEMS SHOULD NOT BE MANIFESTING TILL MUCH LATER IN A CARS LIFE. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT I LIVE IN A COOL STATE DURING THE WINTER AND THE WINDSHIELD IS FROSTING UP WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SIGNIFICANT VISIBILITY LOSS. *TR
RE: TSB 14-063 THE HEATING/DEFROST SYSTEM IN MY HONDA WILL ONLY BLOW HOT AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS MAKES IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I CANNOT KEEP MY WINDSHIELD CLEAR. I LIVE IN A COLD ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUTE. I ALSO CANNOT STAY WARM AS THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY NOW (JANUARY) WE FREQUENTLY EXPERIENCE TEMPERATURES OF -8 OR LOWER. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT THIS ISA COMMON HONDA PROBLEM AND HAS OCCURRED IN MY VEHICLE AT 40K MILES. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA NEEDS TO RESOLVE. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING ONLY 60 MILES MY FEET BECAME SO COLD THEY BECAME NUMB AND MADE OPERATING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE SUN ROOF SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF'S GLASS EXPLODED INTO THE SHADE OF THE SUN ROOF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DCH GARDINA HONDA IN GARDINA, CALIFORNIA (15541 WESTERN AVENUE, 90249). THE DEALER STATED THAT A ROCK MAY HAVE BEEN THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE AND THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,967.
THE WEATHER TURNED FRIGID AFTER A UNUSUAL WARM SPELL. AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WE STARTED TO GET SOME PRECIPITATION ON THE WIND SHIELD THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE DEFROSTER WAS UNABLE TO KEEP THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD SAFELY CLEAR. HAD TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO HEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM NEW. THEY TOLD US THE DRIVER SIDE HEATER CORE WAS PLUGGED. I WAS ASTONISHED AS TO THE LOW MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE (15,659), AND IT BEING OUT OF WARRANTY BY 2 WEEKS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION BECAUSE OF THE RAPID RATE AT WHICH IT OCCURS. IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING EVERY 12-15K MILES. APPARENTLY AFTER SEARCHING ON LINE I FOUND THIS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN 2012-2013 MODELS. HONDA ALSO HAS A BULLETIN OUT ON HOW TO TEMPORARILY REPAIR THIS DESIGN FLAW. (BULLETIN #14-063). I KNOW HEATER CORES CAN PLUG UP WITHOUT THE PROPER MAINTENANCE AND CONSIDERABLE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IN MY OPINION IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FEW MILES DRIVEN BEFORE THIS CAN OCCUR.
A RODENT BUILT A NEST IN THE BLOWER MOTOR OF OUR 2013 HONDA CR-V. THE RODENT NEST AFFECTED THE OPERATION OF THE MOTOR, AND CAUSED RODENT CONTAMINATED AIR TO BE CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. THIS HEALTH HAZARD COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY INSTALLING SCREENING THAT WOULD PREVENT RODENTS FROM ENTERING THE BLOWER MOTOR. THE SCREENING IS TECHNOLOGICALLY AND ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE FOR HONDA MOTOR COMPANY, LTD. ("HONDA"). IN ADDITION TO THE SAFETY HAZARD, HONDA REFUSES TO COVER, UNDER WARRANTY, SERVICE AND REPAIRS FOR BLOWER MOTOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY INFILTRATING RODENTS DESPITE THE DESIGN DEFECT. AFTER REVIEWING COMPLAINTS AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE MANY CONSUMERS THAT HAVE BEEN SIMILARLY AFFECTING BY THE DESIGN DEFECT, AND BY HONDA'S UNWILLINGNESS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR DAY AFTER SNOW STORM. WIND SHIELD/REAR WINDOW COVERED WITH HEAVY LAYER OF SALT/DIRT. NO FLUID WOULD COME OUT OF WINDSHIELD WASHER NOZZLES/REAR WINDOW NOZZLES. WINDSHIELD WAS COVERED WITH SO MUCH SALT THAT DRIVING VISIBILITY WAS VERY LIMITED. THE NOZZLES WORKED BRIEFLY AFTER THE CAR WAS EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT. ONCE THE SUN WENT DOWN, THE NOZZLES NO LONGER WORKED. THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID/LINE APPEARED TO BE FROZEN. IT HAS BEEN VERY COLD WHERE WE LIVE AND 5 DAYS LATER NO WINDSHIELD/REAR WINDOW WASHER FLUID WILL SPRAY OUT OF NOZZLES.THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND MAKES DRIVING VISIBILITY VERY DANGEROUS. THE AMOUNT OF SALT ON BOTH THE WIND SHIELD AND REAR WINDOW IS EXCESSIVE. THE WINDOWS ARE WHITE. HOW DOES HONDA PLAN TO FIX THIS PROBLEM??? I PLAN TO CONTACT HONDA DEALER SHIP THIS WEEK. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR ROAD (NOT A SMALL BACK ROAD) WHEN I HEARD A SOUND LIKE A GUNSHOT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN MY SUNROOF, WITH SPIDERWEB CRACKING COMING OUT FROM THE HOLE. THE GLASS WAS FLEXED UPWARDS AND CREATED A DOME-LIKE EFFECT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE 2 HOURS HOME AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MAN TOOK PICTURES AND PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT IF SOMETHING HAD FALLEN ONTO THE SUNROOF, THE GLASS WOULD'VE CRASHED INTO THE CAR, NOT FLEXED UP AND OUT LIKE MINE DID. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE SERVICE MAN CALLED AND SAID AFTER SENDING HONDA THE PICTURES, THEY DECIDED I MUST'VE DAMAGED THE SUNROOF SOMEHOW, CAUSING IT TO CRACK, MEANING HONDA WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE BRAND NEW CAR 6 MONTHS AGO. IN TALKING TO THE SALES MANAGER, HE TOLD ME THAT IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE FOR SOMETHING TO FALL ON MY SUNROOF TO CAUSE A DAMAGE. IT WOULD'VE HIT MY WINDSHIELD, OR JUST FLOWN OVER MY CAR. HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO AND I COULD CALL HONDA DIRECTLY. I DID. MY CASE REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDED TO "LOOK INTO IT", WHICH ENTAILED A MUMBLING MAN TELLING ME HE MAY OR MAY NOT GET BACK TO MY CLAIM BY JANUARY 21ST. WHEN I HEARD BACK FROM THEM, HE HAD CALLED THE FIRST DEALERSHIP AND THEN REPORTED THAT THEY FELT LIKE THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF, MEANING HONDA STILL WOULDN'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. HONDA HAS JERKED ME AROUND FROM PERSON TO PERSON, WHILE HAVING ME DRIVE AROUND IN MY NEW CAR WITH A GAPING HOLE IN THE SUNROOF THAT IS SHATTERING GLASS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. THEIR SERVICE MEN HAVE TOLD ME ONE THING, AND THE CORPORATION AS A WHOLE IS SAYING SOMETHING ELSE. AFTER A QUICK WEB-SEARCH, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING ON HONDAS, AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2013 HONDA CR-V VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO. I HAVE NOTICE THAT THE SUN VISORS ARE TOO SHORT. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP SEVERAL TIMES AT SUN RISE AND SUN SET BECAUSE I WAS BLINDED BY THE SUN. I HAVE OWNED A HONDA VAN AND A TOYOTA CARE AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WHERE I LIVE. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER IN FRANKFORT, KY AND THEY SAID NO ONE ELSE WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM. I CALL HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE (NATION WIDE) AND THEY SAID NO ONE HAD REPORTED THE PROBLEM AND WANTED ME TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER IN FRANKFORT. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TRIED TO USE AFTER MARKET SOLUTION WHICH IS A VISOR EXTENDER. I AM 5' 8" TALL. I WOULD NEED TO BE OVER 6 FEET IN ORDER FOR THE VISORS TO BE EFFECTIVE. IT EITHER A LOW SEAT PROBLEM OR A VISOR PROBLEM. YOU DON'T NOTICE THIS WHEN YOU FIRST DRIVE THE CAR. I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR IF I KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD WASHER ON THIS VEHICLE AND MY DAUGHTER'S SIMILAR CAR ARE A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. THEY DO NOT WORK IN THE COLD. ALSO THE WIPERS ARE INEFFECTIVE. THIS LEADS TO UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER VISORS WHEN FLIPPED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT STAY THERE BUT MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND DROOP VERTICALLY. BECOMES A REAL ANNOYANCE WHEN DRIVING TOWARDS THE SUN DURING SUNRISE OR SUNSET. VISITED HONDA DEALER AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED NO FIX FOR THIS ISSUE.
ON ALL 2013 CR-VS THE WINDSHIELD SIDE TRIM STRIPS ARE NOT CLOSE TO THE WINDSHIELD, ALLOWING A WATER-DAM EFFECT DURING A RAIN STORM. IN PRIOR YEARS, THE TRIM DETAIL WAS DIFFERENT. ON 2013 MODEL YEARS, THE TRIM STARTS 1/16" AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD AT THE TOP, BUT INCREASES TO 1/2" AT THE BOTTOM. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEPTH OF THE CHANNEL UNDER THE TRIM STRIP IS 1/2" OR GREATER. AT SPEED DURING A STORM, WHEN THE WIPER SWEEPS RAIN IN THE LEFTWARD ARC, IT IS NOT EJECTED ENTIRELY FROM THE WINDSCREEN, BUT IS "STORED" UNDER THE TRIM STRIP. WHEN THE WIPER STARTS ITS RIGHT-SWING, THE "STORED" WATER IS PULLED FROM ITS CHANNEL, THEREBY CREATING A SHEET OF WATER ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH MAKES VISIBILITY NEGLIGIBLE. THIS, OF COURSE, ONLY HAPPENS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE SUDDEN AND DRAMATIC LOSS OF VISIBILITY IS A FRIGHTENING SAFETY THREAT. I AM TURNING MY NEW CR-V BACK TO THE DEALER, AND REFUSE TO PAY FOR SUCH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER TAKING OUR NEW HONDA CRV ON ITS FIRST SHORT TRIP - MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING, I BEGAN TO REALIZE THAT ON FREEWAY DRIVING THERE WAS A CONSTANT VISUAL DISTRACTION WITH THE DRIVERS-SIDE DOOR REAR MIRROR. MAINLY DUE TO THE "SPLIT" FROM THE DESIGN OF THE MIRROR. IT CAUSES A VISUAL IMPAIRMENT TO MY PERIPHERAL VISION, GIVING A FALSE SENSE OF PASSING CARS COMING" TOO CLOSE" TO THE VEHICLE AS THEY PASS TO THE RIGHT (FREEWAY DRIVING). THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT 5 TIMES IN A 120 MILE DRIVE. AT ONE POINT, A CAR COMING UP ALONG MY DRIVER'S SIDE FELT SO CLOSE I SWERVED INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHILE AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I ASKED ABOUT THE DRIVER'S MIRROR, IF THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE MIRROR TO HAVE THE "SPLIT" ON IT., THEY CHECKED INTO IT AND SAID THAT IT WAS. I ASKED IF IT COULD BE SWITCHED OUT FOR A "NON-SPLIT" MIRROR AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT. I JUST FEEL THIS MIRROR HAS A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS VISUAL FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPORTED FOR REVIEW. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. A CLAIM WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
