The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, she became aware that the sunroof glass was cracked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that it was a common failure with the year, make, and model vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the sunroof shattered. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer; however, the dealer did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Windshield wipers randomly do not turn on. There is no warning of malfunction I turned them on in rain and they would not start. This could potentially cause an accident in heavy rain. After a few minutes they worked. This has happened 3 times. I looked on internet and there are other Honda CRV owners experiencing similar issue.

THE CONTACT CALLED HER INSURANCE COMPANY AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. I WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT BUILDING, AND MY REAR VIEW WINDSHIELD EXPLODED SPONTANEOUSLY. THERE WAS A WITNESS, WAITING FOR AN UBER, REPORTED IT AT 6:20 PM ON JUNE 1, 2018. SHE REPORTED IT TO THE CONCIERGE, WHO LOST PLED ON SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND SAID NO ONE WAS AROUND MY VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS I COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE VEHICLE AND GOTTEN HURT
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ARRIVING TO MY WORK PLACE IN MY CR-V 2015 HONDA, MY REAR WINDOW ALL OF THE SUDDEN EXPLODED. IT WAS VERY SCARY. GOOD THING THAT THERE WERE NO ONE IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE GLASS WENT FLYING. I CALLED THE AMERICAN HONDA AND MY HONDA DEALER SAME DAY OF THE INCIDENT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED HOW THEY HANDLED THIS ISSUE. THEY SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS AND DOCUMENTED IT AS WELL. BUT APPARENTLY IS THE DRIVER RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES AND REPORT THE ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN I HEARD A SMALL EXPLOSION. MY SUNROOF'S INNER PANE OF GLASS THEN SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. NO ROCK OR ROAD DEBRIS CAUSED THE ISSUE AS ALL DAMAGE WAS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 30 DEGREES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID DOES NOT DISCHARGE TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID RESORVIOR IS CLOSE TO THE BUMPBER AND THEREFORE IT FREEZES. DRIVING IN SNOW CONDITION IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AS YOU CAN NOT CLEAN THE MUDDY WINDSHIELD. IT'S MATTER OF TIME WHEN HUMANS WILL START TO GET HURT DUE TO THIS FLAW. HONDA NEEDS TO OWN THE ISSUE AND COME UP WITH SOLUTION. THE WIPER FLUID WILL START TO WORK AFTER AT LEAST 1/2 HOUR OF DRIVING. THE ONLY EXPLANATION I GOT FROM THE DEALER THAT THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP, WHICH IS NOT A FACT AS IN MY EXPERIENCE THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO ON FOR 1/2 HR OR MORE.
SUNROOF EXPLOSION: DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN LIGHT RAIN WHEN A LOUD SHOTGUN-LIKE EXPLOSION ABOVE MY HEAD OCCURRED. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE NEAR AT THE TIME AND I WAS NOT NEAR AN OVERPASS. ALL WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE WERE CLOSED. PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED A JAGGED V SHAPED HOLE IN THE MID/RIGHT SIDE OF THE SUNROOF OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THERE WAS ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLASS BETWEEN THE SUNROOF GLASS AND THE SUNSHADE, INDICATING AN OUTWARD FORCE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER WHERE PURCHASED FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. THEY FIRST REFUSED, STATING THAT THEIR TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK STRIKE. I DISAGREED, SHOWING PHOTOS TAKEN RIGHT AFTER THE OCCURRENCE THAT DEMONSTRATE AN OUTWARD FORCE. I ALSO POINTED TO CURRENT NHTSA REPORTS, NEWS ARTICLES DOCUMENTING SEVERAL HUNDRED OTHER CASES IN VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES WITH SUNROOFS AND THE IMPROBABILITY OF A ROCK COMING FROM THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE TO STRIKE DOWNWARD ON THE ONLY GLASS STRUCTURE AVAILABLE WITHOUT LEAVING ANY TRACE OF OCCURRENCE ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE VEHICLE . THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED HONDA USA MAINTENANCE WHO ALSO REFUSED TO HONOR THE VEHICLE WARRANTY, REASONING THAT ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED BY THE NHTSA IN OTHER VEHICLES, THERE IS NO DOCUMENTED RECORD OF AN OCCURRENCE WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL IN THIS PARTICULAR YEAR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY CAN ONLY COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES AND JUST BECAUSE 2011 HONDA ACCORDS HAD THIS DOCUMENTED SUNROOF PROBLEM, 2015 HONDA CR-VS WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS ARE A DIFFERENT PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2015 HONDA CV R. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. THEY WERE LEAVING A STREAM OF WATER ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY VISION, DISTORTING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT.WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE REPLACED THE RUBBER IN THE BLADE AND ITS GOOD TO GO. WITH THE NEXT RAIN I SAW THAT I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY WORKED ON IT FOR A WHILE WITH OUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THIS CONDITION IS NORMAL. I DID NOT BELIEVE IT. I TOLD HIM TO BRING OUT ANOTHER CR V TO SEE IF IT HAD THE SAME WIPER PROBLEM. IT DID!!!! THE WINDOW WASHER SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER ARM ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM THE BLADE ASSEMBLY, THROWING THE WIPER BLADE OFF THE CAR AND DRAGGING THE REMAINING PIECES ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
ON 2/6/15 WHILE DRIVING ON US 17,COASTAL HIGHWAY, JUST OFF I-95 SOUTH, EXIT 87 ENROUTE TO HINESVILLE, GA, MY WIFE AND I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION INSIDE OUR CAR. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED AT FIRST, BUT SUDDENLY OBSERVED THERE WAS A HOLE IN OUR MOONROOF. AFTER SAFELY PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, WE INSPECTED THE DAMAGE. WE SAW THAT A FEW PIECES OF GLASS AND SOME GLASS DUST HAD DROPPED DOWN ONTO OUR CONSOLE, BUT ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT. LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE FROM OUTSIDE OUR CAR, WE SAW THAT THE REMAINING GLASS NEXT TO THE HOLE, WHICH WAS ABOUT 10 INCHES IN DIAMETER, WAS POINTED TOWARD THE SKY. THIS WAS THE CASE FROM ALL AROUND THE HOLE IN THE GLASS. MY IMMEDIATE THOUGHT WAS THAT THE GLASS HAD BLOWN OUTWARD MEANING THAT THE GLASS HAD EXPLODED UPWARD FROM INSIDE THE CAR. IF WE HAD DRIVEN UNDER AN OVERPASS, I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT SOMEONE HAD POSSIBLY DROPPED A ROCK OR OTHER PROJECTILE ONTO THE TOP OF THE CAR WHICH HIT THE MOONROOF GLASS. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THERE ALSO WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY, THERE WERE NO PEOPLE ALONGSIDE THE ROAD AND THE TREE LINE WAS ABOUT 30 YARDS OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SO IF ANYONE HAPPENED TO BE THROWING ROCKS FROM THE TREES, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD A VERY LONG THROW. THERE ALSO WAS NO SOUND OF A ROCK HITTING THE MOONROOF GLASS OR NO EVIDENCE OF A ROCK OR OTHER PROJECTILE AFTER THE GLASS EXPLODED. I CONCLUDE THE EXPLOSION WAS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE GLASS OR INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE GLASS. I DECIDED TO SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER THAT DESERVES YOUR ATTENTION. IF OTHER TRAFFIC HAD BEEN NEARBY, THE EXTREMELY LOUD EXPLOSION COULD HAVE CERTAINLY DISTRACTED ME ENOUGH THAT I COULD HAVE EASILY HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE OR VEHICLES. *TR
