I HAVE DONE TWO OIL CHANGES AT HOME THIS PAST YEAR AND EACH TIME I HAVE EXTRACTED MORE FLUIDS THAN THE LISTED OIL CAPACITY IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I READ AN ARTICLE FROM CONSUMER REPORTS REPORTING THAT THERE MAYBE GASOLINE MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE SYMPTOM OF OVER FILLED ENGINE OIL IS A COMMON ONE AS REPORTED IN THE ARTICLE.
AT 15,000 MILES, I HAVE FOUND THAT GASOLINE IS CONTAMINATING THE CRANKCASE OIL EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE OR DRIVE VERY SHORT DISTANCES. MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NO FIX AND HAS RECEIVED NO GUIDANCE FROM HONDA.
I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM BROWN'S HONDA 712 CRAIN HIGHWAY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061 ON JUNE 20,2017. ON OCTOBER 6, 2018 IBECAME AWARE OF A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MY CAR THAT HAS THE NEW 1.5 L TURBOCHARGED ENGINE. I NOTICED THAT THE OIL LEVEL, AS SHOWN ON THE DIP STICK, WAS AT LEAST 0.5 INCHES ABOVE THE TOP FILL MARK. I IMMEDIATELY DRAINED THE OIL AND DISCOVERED THAT THE VOLUME OF OIL WAS 4.75 QUARTS OR 28% ABOVE THE CAR'S SPECIFICATION OF 3.7 QUARTS. THE DRAINED OIL WAS VERY BLACK IN COLOR AND TO THE TOUCH FELT LESS VISCOUS THAN NEW 0-20 OIL. IT APPEARS THAT THE INCREASED VOLUME IS DUE TO GASOLINE MIXING WITH THE OIL. ON OCT 6,2018 (CURRENT ODOMETER READING11467 MILES) THE OIL HAD RUN IN THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 5400 MILES. MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALER WAS AT 6000 MILES ON 4/16/2018. AS YOU ARE AWARE, DILUTIONOF THE OIL WITH GASOLINE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT WILL INEVITABLY LEAD TO PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE AND OPERABILITY/SAFETY PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE SUCH AS STALLING. I VISITED THE BROWN'S HONDA DEALERSHIP TODAY 10/8/2018 AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE STATED ABOVE. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR, ADVISED ME TO KEEP CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL AND COME BACK IF ANY RUNNING ISSUES OCCUR. THE DEALER ISUNABLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE OF GASOLINE LEAKING INTO THE OIL.THIS PROBLEM SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS THE FUTURE VALUE OF MY CAR AND POTENTIALLY IT'S SAFETY. GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE OIL WILL LEAD TO PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE.
THERE IS GASOLINE DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL
HONDA HAS OVER 19,000 MILES AND READ ABOUT GAS IN OIL. AS A FORMER MECH. I CHECKED DIPSTICK AND YEP, CAN SMELL GASOLINE IN OIL. CHECKED ANOTHER SUV I HAVE TO BE SURE NOT CRAZY AND GAS IS PRESENT.
OIL CRANKCASE SEEMS TO BE OVER FILL AFTER CHECKING THE DEEP STICK,AND SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE, POSSIBLY GAS IS LEAKING INSIDE AND GETS MIX WITH THE ENGINE OIL.
OUR 2017 HONDA CRV KEEPS SHOWING OVER FULL EVEN THOUGH NO OIL WAS ADDED AND HAS A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL TO IT. I FEEL FUEL MIXING IN THE OIL COULD BE A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. THE ENGINE COULD ALSO SUFFER MAJOR DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STOKES HONDA CARS OF BEAUFORT (855-647-4874, LOCATED AT 88 ROBERT SMALLS PKWY, BEAUFORT, SC 29906) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE OIL AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,550. *DT*JB
GAS SMELL ON OIL DIP STICK, OIL LEVEL READING HIGHER THAN ORANGE MARKINGS, OIL BLACK AND WATERY
HAVE GAS IN MY OIL. DIPSTICK SHOWS OVER FILL.

THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER BUTTON FELL OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND MY SPOUSE COULD NOT RELEASE THE BRAKE IN ORDER TO COLLECT THE BUTTON AND PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN FIND THE BUTTON ON THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HONDA SEEMS TO HAVE A TAKEN A VERY CASUAL RESPONSE TO THIS ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE TREATED AS A SERIOUS CONCERN. FROM ALL OF THE RESEARCH AND PRESS I REVIEWED REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, THE ANSWER IS TO USE A PAIR OF PLIERS TO CHANGE GEARS OR GLUE THE PLASTIC PIECE IN PLACE. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL SHOULD BE MANDATED VERSUS TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SO HE CAN GLUE IT BACK IN. THIS VEHICLE WAS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY SPENT NOT TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION WORK AS INTENDED.
ENGINE OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE
2 SEPARATE CONCERNS! IN THE PAST YEAR THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT I SMELLED GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN FIRST ENTERING AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED. THIS OCCURRED DURING THE PAST 6 TO 8 MONTHS. STRONG ODOR. THERE IS GASOLINE MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL. WHEN YOU CHECK THE OIL LEVEL IT IS ALWAYS WAY OVERFILLED. IT IS OVERFILLED DUE TO THE GASOLINE MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL. LUBRICATING OIL IS BEING MIXED WITH SOLVENT - GAS. THERE IS THE VERY STRONG ODOR OF GAS AS SOON AS YOU PULL THE OIL DIPSTICK. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIR, THIS IS NOTED ON MY WORK ORDER.
MY 1.5L TURBO CHARGED ENGINE HAS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE ENGINE OIL. SO GASOLINE IS MIXING WITH MY ENGINE OIL AND MAY CAUSE EARLY ENGINE FAILURE OR A SAFETY ISSUE. I NOTICED THE GASOLINE SMELL WHEN CHANGING MY ENGINE OIL AND THE CAR IS PARKED.
I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 9700 MILES ON MY CRV BUT GASOLINE OR SOME FORM OF CONTAMINATION APPEARS TO BE FINDING THEIR WAY INTO THE OIL RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE OIL. THE OIL DIPSTICK READS BEYOND THE UPPER FILL LEVEL MARK. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITHOUT A SOLUTION - POSSIBLY LEADING TO ABRUPT FAILURE ON THE ROAD.
I HAVE NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF MY 2017 HONDA CR-V EX FROM TIME TO TIME, SO I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. IT SEEMS SIMILAR VEHICLES SUFFER FROM THE SAME PROBLEM WHERE GAS IS LEAKING INTO THE OIL. I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL, AND SURE ENOUGH THE LEVEL IS VERY HIGH AND THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS.
STALLED MOMENTARILY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. OIL STICK INDICATES 25 % EXCESSIVE FLUID.
SAFETY MESSAGE "RADAR OBSTRUCTED" SAFETY AFFECTED. OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN
ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2018 AFTER GETTING OFF A FREEWAY AND SLOWING DOWN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO INCREASE THE SPEED, BUT IT DID NOT PICK UP; I TRIED MANY TIMES BUT MY CAR BARELY MOVED (LIKE 10 OR 15MILES). I PANICKED BUT I JUST TRIED TO PARK MY CAR IN THE PARKING OF A NEAREST GROCERY STORE. I COULD BARELY MOVE THE CAR AND PARKED THE CAR THERE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AAA. A GUY FROM AAA CHECKED MY CAR AND TURNED ON THE ENGINE; WE SMELLED VERY STRONG GASOLINE-LIKE EXHAUST. HE SUGGESTED MY CAR SHOULD BE TAKEN FOR INSPECTION. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER BY AAA. ON 10/5, THE RESULT WAS "OIL WAS OVER-FILLED 3-4 QRTS OVER. DRAINED ALL THE OIL AND REFILLED TO SPEC." (AFTER 4,500 MILAGE, MY CAR'S OIL CHANGE HAD BEEN DONE BY ANOTHER HONDA DEALER ONE MONTH BEFORE.) AS MY CAR WAS FINE, I WAS TOLD TO PICK IT UP. BUT I FOUND A CONSUMER REPORT ARTICLE ABOUT 2017 CR-V'S RISING OIL LEVEL (GASOLINE-MIXED OIL), STALLING, LOSS OF POWER, GAS SMELL, ETC. THE SERVICE AND SALES PERSONS I ASKED ABOUT THIS ISSUE SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE. ON 10/6, THE QC MANAGER CALLED ME, TELLING ME THAT I SHOULD CHECK MY CAR'S OIL LEVEL EVERY 500 MILES WITHOUT EXPLAINING MUCH. HE IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT HE DID NOT KNOW IT UNTIL THE PREVIOUS DAY, HE SAID. HE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT A FIX. I AM NOW SCARED OF DRIVING THIS CAR AND CANNOT TRUST THIS HONDA DEALER ANY MORE. WHILE I AM WRITING THIS REPORT, MY CAR PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED YET; I HAVE NOT EVEN PICKED UP MY CAR YET FROM THE DEALER. AS OF NOW (10/7), THIS HONDA DEALER HAS NOT RESPONDED POSITIVELY TO MY CAR PROBLEM. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THIS REPORT TODAY TO WARN THE OWNERS OF 2017 CR-VS ABOUT A POSSIBLE DANGER.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT START SUDDENLY AFTER BEING OFF AND NOT ON ACCESSORY MODE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED AND WHEN VEHICLE RESTARTED THE DASHBOARD READ MANY ERRORS AMONG THEM, BREAK SYSTEM ERROR, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER/DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AND GET IT SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP AS ADVISED.
UPON STARTING MY 2017 HONDA CRV WHICH HAS THE 1.5L TURBOCHARGED ENGINE, I SMELL AN ODOR OF GASOLINE. THE GASOLINE ODOR IS ALSO PERCEIVED DRIVING OR STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR STREETS I HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEM LIGHTS. ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM, COLLISION MIGRATION PROBLEM, ROAD DEPARTURE MIGRATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND SOME DRIVE ASSIST SYSTEMS CANNOT OPERATE:RADAR OBSTRUCTED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR 10-12 TIMES FOR THESE ISSUES. DEALERSHIP HAS PUT ON A NEW CAMERA AND WIRING HARNESS AND THE LIGHTS HAVE COME ON AFTER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IF IT IS CLOUDY,RAINY, SUNNY, LINES ON THE ROADS AREN'T DARK ENOUGH, SHADOW FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE OR BUMPS MAY CAUSE THIS. SO IF IT ISN'T PERFECT WORLD, THIS WILL HAPPEN. THE FINAL SOLUTION LAST WEEK WAS TO TURN OFF 2 FUNCTIONS, THE LANE KEEP ASSIST AND THE COLLISION MIGRATION. I NOW HAVE A BASE LINE MODEL CAR BECAUSE I CAN'T USE ALL THE FUNCTIONS I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I DRIVE I75 EACH DAY AND 'WHEN' THIS HAPPENS,IT KICKS OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. DEALERSHIP SAID A NEW MODEL WOULD NOT SOLVE THIS AS THE 2017,2018,AND 2019 HAVE THE SAME ELECTRONICS ALONG WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT MODELS OF CARS. NEED A PERMANENT FIX AS I AM AT THE POINT OF RETAINING A LAWYER. MULTIPLE DATES OF THIS HAPPENING
GASOLINE MIXING INTO ENGINE OIL - 1.5 LITER ENGINE. FIRST NOTICED AT 3000 MILES, NOW AGAIN AT 7700 MILES.
I HAVE OBSERVED HIGH OIL LEVELS AND RAW FUEL ODORS ON THE DIP STCK, ALONG WITH RAW FUEL ODORS IN THE CABIN. I KNOW HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HAS OFFERED NO GUIDANCE. TELL THEY HAVE A FIX IN PLACE, HONDA SHOULD BE GIVING FREE OIL CHANGES TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE AND PREMATURE WEAR AND TEAR.
SOMETIMES, I AM ABLE TO SMELL ODOR OF GASOLINE DURING DRIVING IN THE CABIN FROM LAST WINTER SEASON. IT IS GETTING WORSE DURING THESE DAYS. I FOUND 2017-2018 CR-V ENGINE HAS PROBLEM WHICH ENGINE OIL MIXES WITH GASOLINE. I CHECKED OIL LEVEL AND IT IS REALLY INCREASED AND I COULD SMELL GASOLINE WITH ENGINE OIL. HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? I AM NOT ABLE TO FIND RECALL INFORMATION. I THINK IT IS QUITE SEVERE AND AFFECT TO DRIVING AND CAR MAINTENANCE.
OIL DILUTION. STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN AND COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IN COLD MORNING START. OIL LEVEL IS HIGHER AND ABOVE THE MAX LINE ON THE DIP STICK.
WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FUEL DILUTION IN THE ENGINE OIL THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH 2017-18 CR-VS WITH THE 1.5T ENGINE ARE EXPERIENCING. WE LIVE IN VA. I FEEL AS THOUGH I DON'T NEED TO GO INTO DETAILS AS THIS ISSUE IS SO WELL KNOWN, PROMPTED A BAN ON SALES OF THE VEHICLE IN CHINA, ETC. THEY KEEP PUSHING BACK THE RECALL AND NOW ANNOUNCED FOR THE FIRST TWO MONTHS, IT WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN SELECT NORTHERN STATES. A SIMPLE SEARCH THROUGH COMPLAINTS SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED TO THE NORTHERN STATES, IT MAY BE EXACERBATED BY SIGNIFICANTLY COLD WEATHER, BUT THE WAY THEY ARE ROLLING OUT A RECALL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. IT'S UNSAFE (CAUSES STALLING VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN TRAFFIC, WHICH IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY CONCERN) AND CAUSES PREMATURE WEAR ON THE ENGINE (A CONSUMER PROTECTION ISSUE). NHTSA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND ACCELERATE ENFORCEMENT ACTION, E.G. MAKE THEM ACCELERATE THE RECALL TO ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, NOT JUST JUST ARBITRARY CLASSIFICATION AND ORDER BASED ON WHETHER OR NOT YOU LIVE ON ONE SIDE OF A STATE LINE OR THE OTHER. IT GETS COLD IN VA TOO. THE HONDA DEALER BASICALLY TOLD US WE'RE OUT OF LUCK UNTIL THE RECALL, AND TO KEEP CHANGING THE OIL.
ON EARLY OCT 2017, AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM APPLIED (SLAMMED) FOR NO APPARENT REASONS AT 45 MPH. NO CARS WERE IN FRONT AND LUCKILY NONE WAS BEHIND. HAPPENED ON MID DAY, CLEAR AND SUNNY DAY. THERE WERE SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT BRAKE WARNING ACTIVATED WHILE NO PENDING TRAFFIC. WENT TO DEALER TO CHECKUP AND WAS TOLD "NEVER HEARD OF SUCH ISSUES WITH THIS BRAKE ISSUES". IT TOTALLY DID NOT MAKE SENSE THAT THE ADVISER RECOMMENDED TURNING OFF BRAKE SENSING FEATURE!? ON A SEPARATE ISSUE, FRONT ADAPTIVE SHUTTER MALFUNCTION WHILE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER. SYSTEM RESET ITSELF AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD SHUTOFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE. DEALER SAID THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS ISSUE AND FOUND NO FAULTY PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIFTGATE FAILED TO STAY OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,478.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE DISPLAY SCREEN MESSAGE APPEARED INDICATING A SECURITY SYSTEM FAILURE AND THAT THE TAILGATE DOOR WAS OPEN. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE TAILGATE DOOR WAS SECURED. NEXT, THE SENSOR ERRONEOUSLY INDICATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS AJAR. MOMENTS LATER, WHILE DRIVING, THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ALTHOUGH NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE IN THE VICINITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (DNC HONDA, 28 COUNTY RD, TENAFLY, NJ 07670), BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE DUE TO THE CELL PHONE BEING USED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE BLUETOOTH WAS DEACTIVATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,600.
I HAVE A STRONG SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT 2 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS EARLY AFTER I START THE CAR AND WITHIN THE FIRST 2 OR 3 MILES OF DRIVING. IT IS CONCERNING BECAUSE THE SMELL OF GAS IS OVERWHELMING.
MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONED. WHEN I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK EVERYTHING WAS INTACT WITH THE GEAR SHIFT. I EXITED MY VEHICLE AND PRESSED THE LOCK ON MY KEY FAB. I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE THE NEXT EVENING TO MOVE IT (ALTERNATE SIDE STREET PARKING IN MY AREA). I PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY KEY FAB , REACHED FOR HANDLE OPENED DOOR GOT IN CAR. I PUT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION, THEN I PUT ON MY SEATBELT. I WENT TO PUT MY RIGHT HAND ON THE GEAR STICK THEN I WAS MOVING MY THUMB TO PRESS IN THE BUTTON TO SHIFT GEARS, IT WAS HOLLOW NO BUTTON WAS PRESENT IN THE GEAR STICK . I SCREAMED WHAT THE HELL AND STARTED LOOKING AROUND. THE BUTTON TO THE GEAR SHIFT IS ON THE FLOOR, I SAY OUT LOUD HOW THE HELL DID THAT COME OUT? THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE PUT INTO DRIVE, REVERSE OR ANYTHING. I CALLED FOR A TOW TO A HONDA SERVICE FACILITY. I KNOW THAT MY VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE A DEFECTED GEAR SHIFT BECAUSE THAT BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT STICK SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO POP OUT ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH UNDER 6000 MILES ON IT. THAT PART SHOULD NEAR BE MADE POORLY BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS IF IT POPS OUT WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. THE HONDA SERVICE PEOPLE CLAIM SOMEONE PRIED IT OFF., IMPOSSIBLE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MARKS ON MY STICK AND THAT IS A VERY VERY THIN SPACE BETWEEN THE BUTTON INSERT AND THE GEAR SHIFT STICK ITSELF. I TOLD HONDA I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO DRIVES MY VEHICLE AND MY VEHICLE IS WELL KEPT (CLEAN) INSIDE AND OUT . I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE, I AM STILL PAYING FOR IT. I BELIEVE ON MY VEHICLE THAT GEAR SHIFT STICK WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER POORLY AND CHEAPLY ASSEMBLED.
ENGINE OIL BAY SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE BECAUSE OF THE GAS MIXING WITH THE OIL. MY DAY IS FILLED WITH SHORT DRIVES SO THE GASOLINE WILL NOT EVAPORATE.
FOR THE SECOND TIME, AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE PARKED FOR 3-5 DAYS THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DRAINED AND UNABLE TO START THE ENGINE.
GEAR SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON BROKE INTO SEVERAL PIECES. UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARK. CANNOT LEAVE IT IN A PUBLIC LOT WITH KEY IN THE IGNITION. IT WILL STILL SHIFT, BUT AFRAID IT WON'T AT ANY MOMENT SINCE SEVERAL OTHERS ON LINE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND INCLUDE PICTURES AND VIDEOS THAT MATCH MINE. I HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED SEVERAL TIMES AND LEFT MESSAGE AT DEALER. NO RETURN CALL YET.
CAR LEFT IN PARKING LOT FOR FOUR DAYS. CAR WOULD NOT CRANK OR START. BATTERY SERVICED BY AAA, JUMP STARTED SUCCESSFULLY. NO OBVIOUS CLAMPS, WIRE, ALTERNATOR PROBLEM. CAR EVALUATED AT HONDA BURLINGTON DEALER. NO PROBLEMS FOUND. NO CAUSE FOR BATTERY FAILURE GIVEN. SERVICE CLERK AT DEALERSHIP AND AAA BATTERY SERVICE PERSON INDEPENDENTLY SUGGESTED THAT CAR SHOULD NOT BE LEFT UNPROVEN FOR MORE THAN A FEW DAYS AS BATTERY FAILURE HAS BEEN FOUND, WITHOUT AN OBVIOUS CAUSE. EVIDENTLY HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN # 17-032 ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE BUT NEITHER THE GENERAL HONDA CUSTOMER HOTLINE NOR THE BURLINGTON MASS DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGE THIS WITH MY VEHICLE.
THE PLASTIC DETENT BUTTON ON THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR BROKE. IT IS SPRING LOADED AND WHEN IT BROKE THE BUTTON SHOT OUT ONTO THE FLOOR BENEATH THE DRIVERS SEAT. WHILE IT IS POSSIBLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL (FROM DRIVE) IN THIS CONDITION, YOU CANNOT SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO REVERSE OR PARK MAKING THIS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THIS WAS THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 CRV. THE PART WAS REPLACED FOR FREE BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL BREAK AGAIN. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS I CHANGED FROM PARK TO DRIVE.
MY CAR RADIO/MAP CONSOLE WAS GOING CRAZY FOR A MONTH. HARD TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. BY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND BACK ON PROBLEM WENT AWAY. UNTIL 9/21/2018, THAT PROBLEM TRANSFERRED TO ON STEERING WHEEL MASTER CONSOLE WHERE EVERY ALERT WENT OFF FROM ENGINE, TIRE, ..., BRAKE--REALLY SCARED. TOOK CAR IMMEDIATELY TO MY NEAREST HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIR AND FOUND THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY VTC. IN DOING SO, PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NOW IT MARCH 2020, SOME DAYS MY AUDIO/MAP CONSOLE GOES CRAZY. NOT SURE WHEN MY STEERING CONSOLE WILL GO CRAZY AGAIN. I DO NOT HAVE ANY PICTURES OR VIDOA BUT IF YOU GOOGLE IT OTHERS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM.
GEAR SHIFT LEVER ON CENTER CONSOLE HAS A SILVER BUTTON THAT MUST BE DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO MOVE GEARSHIFT. BUTTON DISINTEGRATED FROM THE INSIDE AND FELL OY, LEAVING GEAR SHIFT LEVER INOPERABLE. CLEAR A SAFETY HAZARD NOT TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE TO PARK, ETC. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, AND STATED THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY SEE ON A DAILY BASIS WITH THIS MODEL.

OVERFILLED OIL LEVELS AND A GAS SMELL
THERE IS CONCERN THAT THE ENGINE WILL SEIZE WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED WHILE CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL, THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FROM THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIP STICK AND THE OIL FILLER CAP. ALSO THE OIL LEVEL SEEMS TO INCREASE BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. A SAMPLE OF THE OIL WAS SENT TO OIL ANALYZERS INC AT THE LAST OIL CHANGE BY THE OWNER. THE REPORT IS ATTACHED. NOTE THAT THE REPORT INDICATES FUEL DILUTION GREATER THAT 5% BUT IN THE COMMENT SECTION THE IS NO NOTED ENGINE WEAR METALS FOUND THAT IS ABOVE NORMAL. HONDA NORTH AMERICA WAS NOTIFIED AND CASE #09009335 WAS GENERATED. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE CERTIFIED MAIL. THIS LETTER IS ATTACHED.
VEHICLE HAS GASOLINE THAT GETS INTO THE OIL, RAISING THE LEVEL WHEN THE OIL IS CHECKED. THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GAS WHEN YOU CHECK THE OIL. THE CAR WILL BE RUNNING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS FLASH AND ENGINE LOSES POWER AND YOU HAVE TO CRUISE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. LIGHTS THEN GO OFF AND ENGINE RUNS FINE, BUT THERE IS STILL A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE UNDER THE HOOD AND ESPECIALLY IN THE OIL. WE ARE AFRAID OF A POSSIBLE FIRE, ENGINE DAMAGE, OR LOSING POWER AND CONTROL (POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ETC.), POSSIBLE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
SHIFTER KNOB EXPLODED UNABLE TO SHIFT REVERSE, DRIVE, PARK DEALER ABLE TO FIX, REPLACED KNOB SAID THEY SEE THIS EVERYDAY
WHILE DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD, I CROSSED SOME ROAD CONSTRUCTION THAT HAD A LARGE METAL PLATE ACROSS THE ROAD COVERING WHERE THERE HAD BEEN SOME DIGGING. MY CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARMING CAME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP WHILE AUTOMATICALLY BRAKING WHILE CROSSING THIS METAL PLATE, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH IN A SUBURB AREA. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST 2 OTHER TIMES WHEN I CROSSED THIS SAME PLATE ON THE ROAD BEFORE AVOIDING THIS AREA WITH THIS CAR. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS AS THERE WAS NO GOOD REASON TO STOP THE CAR.
THE SHIFTER BUTTON ON THE LEFT THAT YOU HAVE TO PRESS TO CHANGE GEARS BROKE AND POPPED OUT. CANNOT ENGAGE THE SHIFTER TO CHANGE FROM DIFFERENT GEARS UNLESS YOU MANUALLY PRESS THE MECHANISM INSIDE DOWN. HUGE PROBLEM. HAPPENED WHEN WE CAME HOME AND WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. BUTTON BROKE AND POPPED OUT WHILE STILL IN DRIVE.
