History: Vehicle brakes failed suddenly while in motion. Brake System problem was flashing on the dashboard followed by various electronic system failure messages. The problem first occurred on Nov 3, 2023 and was reported to NHTSA with issue # 11553355. The issue was also reported to American Honda (Case # XXX). Vehicle logged an error code. Honda dealership could not diagnose the cause of the issue and hence they could not provide any fix. I was advised to bring the vehicle back if the problem occurs again since the problem appears intermittent. Recent update: The problem occurred again twice in July 2024 under the same circumstances as mentioned above from Nov 2024. The vehicle is now with dealership for inspection. No root cause has been identified yet at the time of reporting the issue but it is being suspected that a fault might be with Electric Brake Booster component. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Brakes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Very risky as I lost an ability by approx. 90% to stop the vehicle. Fortunately, no vehicle was in front of me, I was not approaching pedestrian crossing, or traffic signal. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Confirmed by a dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes - American Honda and Hoffman Honda dealership in Canton, CT. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On July 19, 2024, I was driving around 30-35 miles an hour. There were no cars close to me either in front or the back or side. My car started to abruptly slow down in a jerking fashion and then the car beeped. It scared me. It didn't stop completely and then the car started moving normally. If a car was behind me, I could have been hit in the rear. The message "brake" did not come on which is supposed to be the first stage in the forward collision safety. This never happened before and now I feel like I have to turn off the safety feature. My 2017 CR-V has 23,000 mi.
Every signal sensor in my car went off after 100k miles. Brake hold system, power steering, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure, electric parking brake, tpm, emission system problem, all wheel drive system. Car stopped working and came to a complete stop on highway with my child in it which was not only terrifying but put us obviously in a life threatening situation. Brought it to Honda dealership-they cleared codes and said they could figure out what was wrong because their software was down. Made an appointment with Honda in a different city to check my rear brake actuator sensor as I had had my brakes replaced prior to these codes showing up. Had to have the car towed to the dealership as it would not drive at this point. The dealership put a VT sylenoid in and said it was good to go. I asked about the brakes, they said they showed no issue. 30 days later while on the highway AGAIN with my child, all the same sensors came on and the car notified me to pull over to safety. I brought my car back to the dealership, they said they changed the left wheel sensor and all codes were cleared and the car was ready to be picked up. I go to the dealership and turn on my car, two seconds not even off the lot and ALL the SAME sensors are back on. Now Honda is telling me that I need a brand new computer installed for $1400.00 to fix the issue, after I already spent $1500 at this point. Obviously I have called American Honda, but this has been an absolute nightmare.
The vehicle experienced multiple system failures, indicated by error messages in 11 different systems, including the check engine light. The affected systems were Tire Pressure Monitoring, Brake System, Electronic Power Steering, Vehicle Stability Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Electric Parking Brake, Emissions System, Brake Hold System, Hill Start Assist, and Collision Mitigation System. The vehicle was checked with a code scanner. The codes retrieved were “DTC 0300 Random Misfire, DTC P0301 No1 Cylinder Misfire, P0172 Fuel System (B1) Too Rich and DTC P0304 No4 Cylinder Misfire” No other system faults were detected despite the earlier errors. The direct injection fuel injectors and engine design seem to be the probable cause. There has been no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. There were no pre-warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before the failure, suggesting the underlying problem may have been developing over a long period without detection. When these errors were displayed, critical safety systems in the vehicle were rendered inoperable, posing a significant risk to my safety and others on the road. An emissions system issue should not have caused multiple safety systems to be disabled, as this could potentially lead to a crash or other hazardous situations. This issue is well-documented online as a common problem with the Gen5 Honda CR-V, with many owners reporting similar experiences. Despite widespread complaints, Honda has not taken corrective action, such as issuing a software update to prevent safety system failures or acknowledging a potential manufacturing defect in the fuel system and fuel injectors. This problem is leading to premature and frequent fuel injector replacements. This can also increase potential safety hazards along with risks for injury or death.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel momentarily became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and was diagnosed and determined that the electronic power steering unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V663000 (STEERING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 30,000.
All of the alerts for the ADAS system would all come on alerting everything had failed. This had three times now over a course of a year. Once driving two while starting or parked. After two reboots of the system and a little drive the alerts go away. Also the stereo display had gone black because it lost connection. A reboot fixes that too. That’s been happening longer. Asked the dealer to check for firmware updates. They said there are five for her car after they checked it. We had it on for an oil change. They told us first it would cost 100, then they changed to almost 500 because it was 5 updates. This could be a real safety concern since you will never know if something has failed or not. If it’s their software engineers making the mistakes with coding, why do we have to pay for them updating it so it’s correct. I have no problem doing this myself, most car companies allow this, Honda will not with our 2017 even though there is a setting to do it. I just have no way of getting the files. Please help.
On June 30, 2024 and again July 13, 2024, the BRAKE dash light and sound alarm engaged on clear sunny days (~ 11 am (6/30) and 1pm (7/13). The brake did not engage and so I was able to maintain control of the car, but in both cases I was on a major highway at 50-60 mph. I have previously reported an incident about a year ago (NHSTA issue number: 11530134 reported 7/3/2023). Weather conditions were the same (sunny and dry) and about the same time of the day (midday), however I was on a regular city road traveling about 25-30 mph and the BRAKES light, sound and the physical brakes brought the car to such a hard stop that I moved forward fast enough to engage the seatbelt restraint mechanism.
Car is parked in front of the house no one has touch the vehicle. The car suddenly started the alarm, had to turn it off. Later on during the day I went to turn the vehicle on and it wont turn off after. I had to search for the fuel pump fuse and remove that to turn off the car.
My vehicle steering was clicking and having trouble turning. When I brought it in for a checkup, I was told that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced, and this was not due to wear and tear. Upon further research this exact year and model had several recalls for the exact problem I am having. Due to my VIN not being under the recall directly I was told there was nothing that could be helped and I would need to pay out of pocket for the repairs. My car is 4,000 miles over the extended warranted that I bought and since this is not due to wear and tear of the vehicle, I feel I am due compensation for getting this repaired. I cannot afford this at the moment because I am a single woman who works to live and pay my bills. I got this vehicle for its reviews and research on being known as a safe reliable vehicle. Any help I can receive would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
The issue involves the steering of the vehicle at highway speeds. The steering gets stuck going straight and requires more force than usual to steer the vehicle. It feels like the straight line steering is stuck in position and then it suddenly gives way. This happens on most highway journeys at the moment between 50 and 70 mph. Because extra force is needed to push the steering out of the straight line position, it is possible to push too hard and change position in the lane without intending too. This then needs to be corrected. I noticed this one time before and took my vehicle in to Honda but they were not able to rectify. It is now happening much more frequently.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse into a parking spot, the back over prevention display screen failed to function properly. The contact stated that the screen failed to display an image or remained frozen. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,800.
I was driving about 25 miles per hour, there were no cars in front of me (in either direction). The car suddenly slammed on the brakes for no reason. My passenger and I were both thrown towards the steering wheel and dashboard, things came flying from the back seat to the front, falling down by the pedals. I was very nearly rear ended, the car behind me was able to swerve to the left but was extremely angry. The car went into neutral, but possibly because something came from the back seat and hit the gearshift, I'm not sure about that. I was stuck in neutral with traffic horns blaring at me. If I'd have been pulling out into traffic when this happened I would easily have been hit broadside. I brought my car to the dealer, they said there was nothing wrong and that perhaps I didn't understand how the system works. I'm certain that it is not meant to bring the car to a screeching halt when there is literally nothing in front of you anywhere.
Multiple warning/error messages are being displayed on the dashboard.
My car’s automatic emergency braking system engaged at about 35 mph without cause. It was a very hard, abrupt almost full stop. I will report to my Honda dealer on Monday when they open. The car behind me was able to stop but was very angry. Thankfully he was not tailgating or we would have had an accident The car has done this before but not as severely and didn’t brake as hard, more of a slow down.
Experienced a continuous "sticky steering" problem at about 50K miles, causing a potentially dangerous condition at moderate to highway speeds. Extra force was required to steer away from the center and a slight clicking noise could be heard when the steering wheel was moved. On 5/31/24, the dealer diagnosed the problem per safety recall service bulletin 18-103 and stated that the EPS steering gearbox needed to be replaced. However, our VIN # was not included in the recall and we had to pay for the repair. The part was on backorder and was not received and installed until 9/10/24.
All warning lights are active on the dash touch screen and the IP. The warning is audible and visual and cycling rapidly and very annoying. Dangerous when driving as a distraction making driving after dark very dangerous. This is the second time in a year this same problem has happened. We are the original owners of the car bought from Art Mohen Honda in Jackson Michigan in 2017. The first incident was intermittent and the touch screen would clear. unrelated to the computer problem we we in a collision and during the repair process the car was taken to Art Mohen Honda and faults were cleared on the computer. This lasted 7 months and now the computer is in complete fault as described above.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 40–45 MPH, the parking brake activated independent of driver input. The contact stated that the vehicle violently jolted forward. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The transmission, brakes, and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 56,300.
It is very hard to explain the feeling without driving it. I call it sticky steering. In a curve there would be some resistance when rounding a curve, almost like a nudging feeling, not smooth like other vehicles I would drive. It's like the steering gets stuck in a groove while in the curve and doesn't have the smoothness when adjusting to the curve. A more detailed explanation is attached.
Two times today the infotainment screen goes black and starts beeping like crazy. You have to pull off the road, turn the car off and then reset this. The beeping noise is so annoying you have no choice but to pull over. Dealer said no fix. Why can’t Honda fix their problems. Many other Hondas are having the same problem. I will submit this form every time this happens, which seems to be daily now.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the ABS was making an abnormal dinging sound, and there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode, lost motive power, and shut off unintendedly. The failure had gotten worse over time. The contact stated that the failure was related to Technical Service Bulletin: 22-002. The contact called a master mechanic and was informed that the vehicle had gone into LIMP Mode to protect the engine. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel injectors were leaking into the spark plugs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000. The VIN was not available.
Again this happened, driving at 38 mph the braking system activated without warning and slammed us into the seat belts. This is happening way to often and now my wife refuses to drive the car.
Since I have owned this car bought in 2017 the info screen randomly turns black and beeps. You cannot tell at that is going on with the car. You can’t adjust the heat, defroster or the radio. This has happened hundreds of times. Honda says they have no fix. I read you have to pull over turn the car off, than start it up and hold the volume button down on the radio until it asks you to reboot the system. Ridiculous, I’ve never had a car with so many problems.
When exiting car sound is heard that car is locked. Then same sound is heard again seconds later. I have DroneMobile app on phone so I checked status & found car reopened. I have had DroneMobile was installed in 2018 or 2019. It happens all the time as far as I can tell. The 2nd fob is in my house & not near car. Hard to know if anything will be secure in car or safe to enter. Could this have happened after car software update?
Steering component locks up causing the vehicle to become slightly difficult to make turns and I get clicking sounds from steering column took vehicle to get fixed at independent service center they installed new rack and pinion plus other parts and with labor cost over four thousand dollars paper invoice available upon request I’ve owned Honda 2017 crv lx since 2017 which I bought new. Problem started in the beginning of May of 2024. No warming lights messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the start of problem.
On April 27 suddenly, without prior warning or indication, all dashboard warning lights and all system alerts went off simultaneously. My Honda dealer confirmed today the issue is the fuel injectors. All 4 injectors failed the fuel ratio test. They quoted $2,000 to fix. I negotiated the price down to $1700 as I am just 4K miles out of manufacturer warranty. This injector issue disables KEY safety features of the CR-V's when it occurs. An injector issue should NOT cause safety features of the CR-V to stop working (ex. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPS, Hill Start Assist, Braking, etc...)
Recurring parasitic battery draw down to below normal level to start vehicle. Have replaced battery 3 times in less than a year. After many trips to the dealer about the same issue. Honda dealership charged me $500.00 for a diagnostic. Rv has an Electrical problem on the engine along with Dash Board. They are charging more than $6,000.00 for repairs with uncertainty that issue will be solve. My CRV has 37,000 miles which is still new. Noticed same problem reported in Internet forums. Google “2017 CRV battery problem” for more examples reported by other CRV vehicle owners. I believe that this problem is an extensive one that affects many owners and should be determined to be a safety recall issue. Now I have no confidence in the safety of the vehicle and won’t be driving it at night so as to avoid the possibility of being left stranded away from home.
All the following safety systems were getting failed lights on vehicle: - Adaptive Cruise control - Collision Mitigation - Road Departure Mitigation - Vehicle Stability Assist - Hill Start Assist - Electric Parking Brake - Tire Pressure Monitoring. We were replacing the battery thinking it was a battery issue as it was diagnosed prior. Took it to dealer and they confirmed fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced at 81K miles.
I was driving my Honda CRV on a 4 lane highway (2 lanes in each direction) on a clear and sunny day ([XXX]) at approximately 45-50 mph. I had no traffic ahead of me, but cars behind me, when my vehicle slammed on its brakes and dropped my speed to approximately 5 mph. I did hear the beep and saw the "brake" warning statement on my dash display. It released the brakes after the decrease in speed (to approximately 5 mph) and I continued to drive home without any further problems. I'm very fortunate that I didn't get rear ended. I phoned my Honda service adviser and made her aware of the problem (West Herr Honda of Lockport, NY). My vehicle is in excellent condition and has never been in any accidents. Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Honda CRV Fuel Injector Issue Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Team, I am writing to urgently report a safety concern regarding my Honda CRV, and to request a recall and replacement of the fuel injector system. Recently, my Honda CRV experienced a series of warning lights illuminated on the dashboard display. Upon diagnostic examination at an authorized Honda dealership, it was determined that the issue stems from a malfunctioning fuel injector. Prior to this diagnosis, my vehicle was involved in two alarming incidents where its speed became uncontrollable, despite my efforts to apply the accelerator pedal. The first incident fortunately did not result in an accident due to sparse traffic conditions. However, during the second incident, the vehicle behind me was forced to perform an emergency brake maneuver, narrowly averting a potentially catastrophic collision. These incidents highlight a critical safety hazard that poses a significant risk to both myself and other road users. As a concerned member of the community, I strongly urge NHTSA to initiate a recall of all affected Honda CRV vehicles and implement a comprehensive replacement program for the fuel injector system. Addressing this issue promptly is crucial to preventing future accidents and ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your swift action and resolution of this pressing concern. Sincerely, One of the CRV owners
3 times this has happened now the latest incident today 4-19-2024. I’m driving along and then all of a sudden the car goes into hard braking mode and the emergency braking light comes on the dashboard. Twice I have almost been rear ended because of this problem. No cars are in front of me at the time. I feel the automatic braking system was not designed correctly. I hope no one gets into an accident because of this defect. This is the last Honda I will ever own.
Hi. During the drive. My car's all warning light that include break light and engine light and tire pressure light. And I check everything is find. Then I go to the dealer to fix it. The dealer said everything is fine. The can't do anything. They just clear the code. But the next week, it happened again. I also do research this issue at internet. This issue is not unique in U.S. please help us to let honda to be concerned this issue. thank you.
I own a 2017 Honda CRV and my complaint is various warning lights such as the brake system, lane departure, ACC & forward collision warning illuminated on the dash with the dashboard. There are MANY other Honda consumers who have faced/facing similar instances. I have attended to reboot the system three times to clear these messages. A new battery was installed June 2023.
The vehicle randomly starts FLASHING every warning message across the info screen, All steering and cruise functions become disabled. No codes when scanned, can't reset the displaty warnings but clears on its own sometimes, then comes back randonmly. Dealer has been no help and cant fix. Warning that display are: COLLISION ITIGATION SYSTEM, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, BRAKE PROBLE< STEERING PROBLEM and more.
There have been a few instances in which the emergency breaking system activated based on false positives. Examples include certain overhead highway signs (one in particular is a regular trigger in a certain lane of a certain road in my area) as well as dips in the road or construction areas or the bottom of hills, in which the sensor presumably reads the upcoming hill as an actual instruction. In one of these instances a car behind me locked up the brakes to avoid hitting me as my car applied the brakes unnecessarily. These issues have occurred repeatedly and are often able to be reproduced.
While driving at about 35 miles per hour, with no traffic or obstructions ahead of me, the automatic braking system rapidly decreased my vehicle speed to about 5 miles per hour, then disengaged and the vehicle operated normally.
Driving on the highway at 65-70 MPH from Buffalo on [XXX] - so there was heavy traffic. Engine started to run rough, then the warning system showed almost all of the errors on the dash, including TPM, collision avoidance, lane alert, etc. Then the car could only go about 25 MPH, so had to pull off to the side (luckily) and turned off car to restart since that has worked before. This time it did not work, so had to drive about 1 mile to next exit on the side of the road and call for a tow from Erie to Pittsburgh. This has happened before when trying to accelerate from an ramp to the highway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The fuel injectors are the issue with this Honda. When driving with these injectors and they go bad the vehicles braking system, lane assist, and Vehicle stability goes out. I have had my vehicle serviced (no injectors available to fix issue at this moment) by a Honda dealership since every warning and check engine light was on. Honda is aware of this issue but fails to recall the injectors. No repair invoice yet however it is a $2,500 fix when the parts are available from backorder.
Stranded over the years of the cars life with multiple dead batteries. Most recent after stranded with car that wouldn’t start had it replaced and car electrical system randomly went off triggering alarm and draining battery. The amps were way over Honda standard being drawn from the battery. After couple trips to dealer it was the bcm that needed replacing with only 56,000 miles on the car.
Since I have purchased this vehicle in 2017, there have been numerous 'random' occasions while I am driving and the car's dashboard will flash "BRAKE"3X or "BRAKE" 3X with the warning beeps...these occasions have occurred while driving at speed over 50mph but there was no vehicle or object in front of me. Twice, I have been driving and the car has flashed "BRAKE"3x and beeped and applied the emergency brakes---but there was nothing in front of my car & thank goodness there was no one behind either. I don't know why it does it at random times, maybe it's the way the sun beams on the car, just at the right angle, to alert the brake system. Either way, it's caused me to use extra caution and turn off the Automatic Break System every time I enter the car ( If I remember) I am available for inspection upon request. I've read articles online about this problem with the Honda CRV 2017.
All driver assistance functions (Adaptive Cruise, Automatic Emergency Braking, Collision Warning, Lane Departure, Lane Keep Assist, and probably the Blind Spot Warning too) failed simultaneously, as indicated by warning lights and messages on the instrument panel. (Also failing were the Brake Hold function, and the parking brake, and the brake failure light was also illuminated, though the brakes did appear to function.) (The Check Engine Light also illuminated, though the engine continued to operate.) The root cause of the failure (as determined by the dealer) was failed fuel injectors causing the engine to run too rich. Yes, it is odd that failed fuel injectors cause a complete and total failure of the driver assistance features, but apparently this is not an uncommon failure mode for this particular problem on this model of engine.
I was driving my Honda CRV 2017 on I-65 in Birmingham - Montgomery area in Alabama in March 2024 and suddenly in the middle of the busy highway the vehicle stalled and wouldn’t drive even after stepping on the accelerator a little harder. I then turned on my emergency lights to signal to the behind vehicles that I have and emergency situation became I was in the middle of a busy highway and the vehicle simply wouldn’t drive. I managed to pull aside of the highway and turned the engine off because I didn’t know what the issue was. After a few minutes I started the vehicle again and drove a few miles and the vehicle stalled again. After a couple of repeated cycle, I got the vehicle to a nearby Honda dealership for diagnostic testing which later revealed that the fuel injectors, the head gasket, the turbo system etc were causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle is currently not drivable and has since been with the Honda dealership as I am writing. With taxes, the dealership is charging me approximately 5000 USD to fix this problem, money that I cannot afford. Not knowing what to do, I did a brief research to see if anyone else has experienced this issue before and I found out in the consumer report that other drivers have actually experienced exactly the same issue that happened to my vehicle. I currently do not have any additional vehicle for commuting and I am forced to use rented vehicles with the rental cost accumulating on the daily basis while my vehicle remains with the dealership. I am therefore writing this notification for Honda to look into this potentially risk safety incidence and help Honda CRV owners and myself get this problem fixed because such experience doesn’t boost consumer confidence for both current and future Honda CRV owners. Thanks
Button fell off from the shifter
All warning lights turned on and vehicle lost power/dropped speed to virtually 10 mph. This is a fuel injection issue and is widespread safety problem with the honda crv. A girl recently had this issue and was rear-ended. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Multiple times my vehicle has flashed "BRAKE" when there was no object in front of me. At times there were shadows from trees that I thought may have prompted the warning. But in the past 6 weeks during interstate driving and adaptive cruise control engaged, the vehicle brakes for no reason. This can happen several times in just a short distance, or sometimes I can drive 25 miles and it doesn't happen at all. There is no rhyme or reason to the frequency. Most of the time it drops the speed about 5 MPH but keeps the cruise engaged at that new speed. I have never let it drop more than 15 MPH for fear of causing an issue with other drivers. This past week it applied the brakes just as a semi truck moved into my lane behind me at a close distance. I was afraid the truck would rear-end me. I have received the following warnings in the instrument panel: "Road departure mitigation system problem", "Collision mitigation system problem", and "Adaptive cruise control problem. My husband took pictures of the warnings as they appeared while I was driving. Honda diagnostics could not identify even one code.
All of my warning lights are on. The above checklist only lets me pick 3 items total but every warning light is on. Brake hold system, power steering, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure, electric parking brake, tpm, emission system problem, all wheel drive system. My car has went from driving 70mph on the highway to suddenly going to 10-20 mph! Super dangerous and this has happened 2 times. First time in March 24’ and again May 24’. The reset resolved it briefly but it returned again and again. Now all lights are on and it scares me to drive on the interstate because I don’t know when it will happen again. My safety features do not work on my car when the lights are on. I have had the codes checked and reset 2 times. Codes P0172 & P0303 were a couple codes it shows.
The driver's seat belt became stuck in the unused position and we were unable to pull it out to extend it to the locking mechanism. This put the driver at risk in that there was no usable seat belt, and therefore the driver would be unprotected in the event of a crash. The vehicle is currently at the Honda service department, and the technician believes there is something wrong with the ratcheting system, so he has ordered new parts. There were no previous warning systems, however the alert sound did go off that the seat belt was not in use when the car was turned on.
The automatic emergency braking system activated unnecessarily. While pulling up to a light, I was preparing to apply the brakes when my car suddenly came to an immediate stop. The brake light flashed and the car came to a halt. It stopped so abruptly that I was concerned that I had been rear-ended. My passenger in the back seat got out of the car to check with the car behind me. No contact had been made with the car behind me. This event has not occurred previously or since as I have turned off the emergency braking system.
While driving today, 03/05/2024 my 2017 Honda CR-B suddenly began to break while driving. There were no obstacles in front of the vehicle and no nearby cars. My car continued to randomly break while I was driving continuously and the issue has continued throughout the day. My safety and the safety of others is at risk because the random braking can cause an accident. There were no warning or messages prior to this. The vehicle can be inspected at any time. This issue has not been confirmed with a dealer, but I am reporting it as it has happened and it is concerning.
I recently visited Honda dealership ( Honda of Chantilly, Chantilly, VA - 20151). I would like to report the findings for further guidance. All warning signs on my 2017 Honda CRV turning on while driving on the high way. These signs come and go often. So, I took the SUV to the dealership for the diagnosis. Dealer found the issue and the diagnosis code was P0172 (Fuel System too rich). Later I figured that this code is reported under recall/extended service with clear detail ( Honda Service Bulletin 19-037). I reported the findings with doc to the Honda Manufacturer and dealer but their response was that my Vin is not impacted. So, they denied to fix the issue. However, my car has the same issue with diagnostic code which was performed by dealer.
