2017 Honda CRV Ex 1.5 Turbo with 97483 miles while driving Multiple alerts on dash showed up. OBD 2 scanner diagnosed it as P0172. Dealership was informed of the code as dealer code came back the same and diagnose it as failed fuel injectors x4. Showed recall letter dated 7/2019 regarding extended warranty Honda Corp. denied claim.
Parasitic battery drain affects my 2017 Honda CR-V. If the vehicle is dormant for just a few days, the battery drains completely and requires a jump start. I am on my fourth battery since purchasing the vehicle new in March 2017, and have also had the starter replaced when my garage could not identify the issue. When the battery is completely dead as I described, the key fob will not open the doors, and you must enter the vehicle by using the physical key located inside the fob. All doors must be opened manually, and the trunk liftgate (where one typically keeps jumper cables or battery booster pack) does not function, rendering access to the rear seats and trunk very difficult. When a jump is successful, all of the safety systems reset and warning indicators do not disappear until the car is driven for several minutes. Honda has an electrical problem or is using batteries that are too small for their vehicles. I wouldn’t expect a car that has been sitting for months at a time to start on the first try, but a few days (even a long weekend would be an issue) is unacceptable.
We've had to tow our car to the dealership 2 times due to fuel pump, fuel injector related issues. It seems for the year 2017 CRV this is a very common and known issue but Honda is not acknowledging it. Tech notes state: CUSTOMER STATES MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON AND VEHICLE WILL NO ACCELERATE PAST 20MPH. PLEASE CHECK AND ADVISE. FOUND CODE P0301 STORED. CHECKED COOLANT LEVEL AND FOUND OK.CHECKED FREEZE FRAME DATA. FOUND ST FUEL TRIM IS AT 0.82. SYSTEM IS RUNNING VERY RICH. RECOMMEND SB 19- 032 IS PERFORMED. AFTER A/F TEST SHOULD BE PERFORMED TO DETERMINE IF INJECTORS NEED REPLACEMENT AS WELL. PERFORMED SB 19-032.1245B5 Reset the maintenance minder. Update the PGM-FI and TCU software. Replace the oil, and do the throttle position reset and PCM idle learn procedure. (A/C control unit replacement not necessary.) 0.6 hr
I experienced “phantom braking” while driving across an intersection. The vehicle “brake” warning appeared on the display screen without any obstruction on the road. It then very abruptly screeched to a halt automatically. This incident put my infant, myself, and other drivers at risk. The speed limit on that street is 35 mph. Sudden braking to that degree can cause a collision.
Gear shift knob button broken. Cheap plastic and fell off
My 16 year old son was driving the vehicle when all of the lights on the dashboard started flashing and alarms started sounding. As a new driver he found this really alarming and didn't know what to do. He was driving along at 40 mph along a local main road and very nearly collided with a vehicle in front of him at a set of traffic lights because he lost attention on the road. He pulled to the side of the road and was then a hazard to other road users and in a dangerous spot himself until he called me and I went out to him in a different car. We drove home carefully as the car seemed to be running fine but he was understandably shaken up. This has occurred multiple times in the last couple of weeks. The car bleeps several times and goes through all of the things that are not working correctly. Emission System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem), Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem are all shown as faulty. The dealership have now told me that it is a fuel injector problem and they will need to be replaced. Looks like the car is showing an OBD-II code of running too rich and cylinder misfire. I have codes P0172 and P0303 and one other I think. My car has only done 45,000 miles. From reading more about this it seems that the fuel injectors in my generation of Honda CR-V (mine is a 2017) have widespread issues with these components. The fault causes the warning lights to light up like a Christmas tree which can be extremely distracting. All of the safety features also no longer work which is dangerous for the driver continuing to drive in that state. Inexperienced drivers like my son (and anyone else for that matter) can be left in very hazardous situations.
Fuel pump stopped working. Car had trouble starting, felt ‘jumpy’ while driving. Had to get the fuel pump replaced.
Fuel pump malfunction causing my vehicle to stall and suddenly decrease speed. Potential of causing accidents when it occurred. Problem was confirmed and repaired at a mechanic. Engine light came on after the problem started.
All warning lights on the dashboard come on and disable numerous safety features. The car will have a rough idle at ignition and will sometimes go into a limp mode and will not accelerate. I have researched the issue and believe it is the fuel injectors. According to my research that is the solution that Honda has for these problems. Honda has also changed the part number of these fuel injectors and the manufacturer. I believe Honda is at fault for putting manufacturer defective fuel injectors in.
In August my 2017 Honda CRV started losing acceleration and felt like it was stalling. Every light on the dashboard came on. I brought it to herb chambers in Westborough and they fixed the turbo charger, the vehicle was still under warranty so I expected to get the issue fixed. In early December the newly 'fixed' honda CR-V started losing acceleration, similar to the previous time. I got the car to the dealership and they fixed the same issue again but charging around 3000$ because now the car wasn’t under warranty. On Saturday January 6th I started up the 2017 Honda CRV with the intentions of going to Herb Chambers in Westborough. (10-15 miles). The CRV again loses acceleration and check engine light comes on along with every other light in the book. Realizing I was not going to make it to Herb Chambers, I pulled into a lot to call for AAA (thankfully our 3 year daughter wasn't with me). AAA Tows the car to Herb Chambers. This time they said it was the spark plugs and Herb Chambers Honda charged close to ANOTHER $1,000 for the SAME issue that should have been fixed in August of 2023. Please see attached Honda documents for your reference. Three times in the span of 4-5 months where the car suddenly goes ‘limp’, on busy highways no mind you, I had to put my hazards on and pray no one hit me, it’s gotten to a point of where there is a known issue and these Honda service departments know this, but still ‘work on your car’, for outrageous sums.
Randomly all sensors will come on, won’t be anything wrong and sensors will stay on. Can’t tell when you have emergency break on during this. Researching and it happens to a lot of Honda CR-V
On 8/25/23 around 6:45am, I was exiting the gas station parking lot going around 15mph, and the car slammed on the brakes. The abs engaged itself even though there was nothing in front or around me. I knew I didn't step on the wrong pedal, because the abs indicator that says "brake" came on and this only comes on when the abs senses something in front of the car. All the stuff on my seat flew on to the floor. This happened once before a few years ago. A few times in the last few years, the car has been glitchy and "brightness" starts blinking uncontrollably on the screen. Sometimes if I shut off the car for a few minutes it will resolve but sometimes not. We purchased the car new and have been the only drivers.
I alone in the car driving on a residential street, about 20 miles per hour. There were no cars in front of me when my brakes slammed on suddenly! I was jerked forward and items that were on my passenger seat flew to the the floor. Thankfully there was nobody behind me either, so there was no accident. It was a clear sunny day with no obstructions. There were no messages or warnings that I saw. This happened about 5 days ago. This has never happened before ( I’ve had this vehicle since 2017) and so far it hasn’t happened again. As far as I can tell there are no recalls for this issue, but I did see in my Google research that there have been other reports by Honda owners of this issue. I have not yet contacted Honda.
The screen in the middle goes haywire beeping and jumping from screen to screen. I am not sure if it is affecting any other electronic componets but it very well could be.
Driving in clear conditions in the evening, the collision mitigation braking system suddenly engaged and activated the brakes bringing the car to a very sudden stop. There were no obstacles, cars, or any reason at all for the system to activate. Nothing was in front of the car, there were no other vehicles in the other lane, there was no glare from the sun, no animals, nothing. I was traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour on a straight, smooth paved, three lane road. The brakes were fully engaged by the cmbs system for several seconds and then the alert disappeared and normal operation resumed. The dashboard "BRAKE" indicator appeared during the incident. It is highly fortunate there was no car immediately behind me, as my sudden and unpredictable stop would almost certainly have caused a wreck.
Torque sensor internal failure causing notchy operation of steering. Safety issue concerning unpredictable jerkiness in the steering, especially at speeds over 40 mph. Confirmed by Coggin Honda of St. Augustine. Entire steering rack had to be replaced at a cost of over $3,300.00. No warnings prior to failure of the system.
A/C Compressor Shaft Seal leaking and Honda Dealer - Norm Reeves Honda North Richland Hills in Texas is not able to vacuum the remaining refrigerant out of the Honda CRV 2017 which has only 58k miles. Their new equipment says there is a contaminant on the ac system and refuses to complete the warranty repair. They even mentioned that to complete the Shaft Seal repair, they do not need to remove the compressor. This should be a recall of the AC compressor instead of a warranty extension on the seal. Here in Texas, it's 109 deg F temperature and in the car, it gets up to 119 to 125 deg F temperature during the summer months. This is a major safety issue. Honda will only reimburse for the repair if it's taken to a Honda dealership but the dealership does not have the tools to vacuum out the contaminants. Additionally, the dealership thinks the discharge hose needs to be replaced as well. Due to the centrifugal force of the compressor when it spins, the leaking freon from the Shaft Seal with dye has spun around 360 deg and spread the dye all around it. This has caused the dealership to force the car owners to replace the discharge hose for an outrageous cost of $700+. Currently, the Honda parts website shows the compressor has been discontinued. Please take action with Honda on a full recall of faulty compressors. Many Honda owners with CRV 2017-2021 are seeing multiple issues pointed out during this Warranty claim of A/C Compressor Shaft Seal Leak.
Was about to go to work earlier today, when my husband tried to push reverse button, shifter button was not in place.. Was later found it in the console area and looks like it just broke and fell without any warning. This is scary. What happens if the car was in motion at that time and you need to change gear or reverse?
The engine failed and I was stranded 60 miles from home.all the dash lights were blinking and I couldn’t get the parking brake to unlock . It is available for inspection . I was stranded at a service station with another senior citizen for three hours in 100 degree plus weather. We were stranded and our safety was compromised as we waited for help . I had it towed to a dealer 20 miles away . Rented a hotel and got an Uber to the car the next morning . The auto repair person examined the car and determined that the turbo fan had disintegrated and was sucked into the engine . After further rested he reported the engine had failed and it would cost $8 000. Many of the lights and sensors suddenly began to blink . The car lost some power but we were able to limp to the gas station . Hello [XXX] , Here are my technicians findings, due to the metal moving through the oil passages he recommends replacing the engine and turbo "verified engine running rough. retrieved operative dtcs p0299(PGM-FI) and u0416-68(IDSS). U0416-68 likely caused by millimeter wave radar software. rec. update. p0299 and rough running. turbo underboost issue. road tested and captured snapshots. found turbo not boosting. found intercooler and pipes not leaking. found evap purge not leaking. inspected and found turbocharger turbine damaged. turbine debris through intake system from turbo to throttle body and into intake. on road test dtc p2101 electric throttle control malfunction was set and vehicle entered limp mode. found significant debris in throttle body likely causing dtc. suspect debris has entered engine and potential cause for further problems. can only speculate cause for turbo failure. oiling system may be cause. teardown would be necessary for further identification of cause. engine and turbo replacement recommended" Please let me know if you have any other questions i can help answer. The CMBS system malfunctions and phantom brakes when there isn’t anything obstructing the road. It has done it 5 or 6 times, and the dealership can’t do anything to fix it.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH with the cruise control activated, the cruise control deactivated independently. The contact stated that the vehicle started decelerating with the accelerator pedal depressed. There were several unknown warning lights was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed back to the contact’s brother’s residence. The vehicle was diagnosed by the contact’s brother, and it was determined that the turbo charger was not working as needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
2017 CR-V has 55,000 miles on it. ALL of the dashboard warning lights are coming on randomly, causing panic and making it impossible to tell if something is really wrong. Very Dangerous. Honda dealer diagnosis is to replace all 4 fuel injectors at cost of $1,726. There are literally thousands of reports about this online, people being given the same repair fix, often without permanent success, and with having to pay thousands for relatively low mileage vehicles. Honda has issued extended warranty for other Honda models about fuel injectors but has done nothing for the Honda CR-Vs. 2017 seems to be a bad year for this fault. Driving a vehicle with multiple warnings flashing randomly is dangerous.
My honda when I was driving on my dash started going crazy and says power steering, brakes, tire pressure, adaptive cruise control etc.. I can use any of my safety features when driving the car is constantly telling me there's all these things wrong.
the steering is sticking, causes driver to over correct. the problem was diagnosed by honda of asheboro nc. the rack and pinion steering was inspected by dealership and determined to be faulty. the problem started 2-3 yrs ago. at first it was very infrequent. i did not realize what was happening until recently when it has gotten much worse although there has been some hondas of the same make and model recalled (NHTSA 18V-663) my honda was not among them. my honda has 61000 miles and the exact same problem!
While sitting in the longest traffic jam I ever experienced on a hot summer day and not moving, suddenly all lights and driver assistant lights came on the dashboard and the parking brake engaged. I was able to release the parking brake and drive with all the lights lit on the dashboard. My vehicle had only 88K miles. A Honda dealership ran a diagnostics and reported a code po172 engine fuel trim lean so car will need injectors and fuel pipe to fix. I just paid for the diagnostics and not the repair since they were able to reset the computer to clear the problem.
The radar sensor was stolen in July 2023. A Honda dealer confirmed this. Two representatives of the dealer indicated the sensor can be stolen in minutes without tools from the 2017 CRV and Honda placed the sensor elsewhere in later model CRVs to reduce its vulnerability to theft. Warning lights indicate 5 Honda-installed safety features no longer work without the sensor: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, a collision mitigation system, a road departure mitigation system, and automatic high beams. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When the sensor is stolen, it is sometimes yanked out quickly (my case), damaging other radar parts. The dealer mentioned above told me replacement of the sensor and repair of the radar would cost about $2700. There are unfortunately strong disincentives to repair the radar, with the result that 5 safety features no longer work: The high repair cost, coupled with the distinct likelihood of another theft given shortages of the sensor and its value, discourage repair. Further, the fact that theft claims with insurers often result in rate increases and many folks have high deductibles discourage repair. American Honda Motor Company, Inc. has refused to provide financial assistance despite its poor engineering having essentially caused the 2017 model theft problem, and despite Honda’s correction of this defect in later year CRVs. Honda also has failed to create a “kit” for 2017 CRV owners to secure the radar sensor against theft. :
While driving on I-95 near Colonial Heights, VA we heard a loud BOOM - thought it was a tire although I continued to maintain control of car. Saw in rearview mirror, a small shingle-size piece of material fly off top of our 2017 Honda CRV, toward car behind us. Stopped & saw that our sunroof had literally BLOWN APART. The "shingle-size" material was the middle of our sunroof blowing off. Fortunately we had just closed our interior sunshade & fortunately the car behind us did not look to be affected by the airborne sunroof material. There was no truck in front of us (no flying debris from another car) & nothing fell on the top of the car! Had we not had the sunshade closed, 1000's of pieces of glass would've rained down on us, possibly causing me to lose control of the vehicle & quite certainly causing an accident w/those around me. Fortunately we were 1.5 miles from an exit & a Honda dealership (!) that assisted us in attaching Crash Wrap to the top of the car so we could continue on our way home to FL - but not without stopping 4 add'l times & also using packing tape to keep the crash tape on the car (due to rain). Broken glass continued to "rain" down onto the sunshade for the next 700 miles - we also feared the crash tape would come off and whip back at another vehicle. I've documented incident w/pictures, contacted my Insurance Company, American Honda Corp, Holler Honda (local dealer) & am scheduled to have the sunroof replaced in the next week. Am. Honda Corp customer svc was unaware of any "exploding sunroof issues", nor was my local Honda dealer. However, the Svc Advisor @ Honda in VA had actually seen 3 exploded sunroofs since May! After some investigation on my part, I found an active court case of Honda/Acura owners who have also experienced exploding sunroofs. There was absolutely NO warning that predicated this incident. This incident could've had a vastly different outcome had my interior shade remained open.
Issue #1: Automatic Braking Self-Engaged. Approximate Date: 11/21/2022 Mileage: 70k I was driving home. I was traveling southbound approximately 40 mph on a 4 lane road (2 each direction). The weather was clear (i.e., no rain or other adverse conditions). No other cars (northbound or southbound), pedestrians, or objects were on or near the roadway and my car, without warning, applied the brakes, hard. The automatic braking system had engaged by itself, without warning. Imagine driving down the road and for no reason, without warning, the car abruptly attempts to stop itself. There's little to be done and it's quite precarious, especially if the road I was on had heavier traffic. Thankfully, no one was behind me or I would have been in an accident. It was pretty scary -- my passenger looked at me and wondered why on earth I'd applied the brakes so hard but I hadn't personally touched them--there was no reason to stop or slow down in the middle of the street that day. When the automatic braking engaged, there was no warning and the vehicle was running fine. Issue #2: Faulty Electrical System + Sensor Failure. Date: 7/17/2023 Mileage: 85k All possible electrical warnings came up on my dash while idling in a grocery store parking spot at the prompting me to research complaints (I didn't know NHTSA handled complaints; hence, I'm filing two simultaneously in this report today). I observe a regular, routine maintenance schedule at the local dealership, and while I expect some maintenance, particularly as the vehicle gets older, I should not be having these types of issues. I was able to clear the dash warnings myself after manually rebooting the system 4 times, but I'm sure that only alleviates the symptoms not any root cause. Based on the plethora of articles on the internet about this, it seems that the 2017 Honda CR-V has some faulty sensors and electrical issues which are a threat to personal and public safety and need additional investigation.
In January 2023 all the warning lights in the dash in our 2017 Honda CR-V spontaneously came on. Were told by Honda the system would reset and it did. Then we had to change out the battery which was supposedly the fix when it happened again. Recently the alarm would sound and lights come on when sitting in the driveway and not running. This progressed that day to having to jump start the car. Took it to Honda who diagnosed a BCM failure. Had to leave it there because it would not start at all. New BCM and again a battery installed. One week later all the warning lights come on again. Back to Honda to be reprogramed but told if this happens again would need new fuel injectors??? Apparently, the CRV should not be driven with this problem, as it can cause automatic stops, lane changes and other safety issues. There have been multiple reports of this issue and it is not being addressed.
Major driveability/safety issue. The vehicle started skipping and jerking on highway I-93 on the New Hampshire/ Massachusetts line. I was accelerating to 65 mph and merged with traffic, when the car engine began stalling intermittently. The check engine and maintenance indicator lights turned on. As I coasted to the side of the road, the vehicle continued to jerk and slow/speed up.
All alerts on dashboard are active - Emission, Brakes, hill-assist, auto high-beam, collision mitigation system, etc. Can no longer drive my car safely. Dealer confirmed. The car just had its oil changed and air filter replaced.
The infotainment systems is failing. Volume knob does not change volume correctly, CarPlay goes in and out, chronic infotainment beeping occurs, infotainment system changes source without input. This creates distractions while driving. It was taken to Honda however they reported no fix for this at this time but mentioned a potential recall on the way due to other drivers experiencing similar issues.
All the warning lights activated when I was driving on the highway and the car made a bell noise to alert me. None of the safety features worked on the Honda CRV 2017, but I was able to maintain driving the vehicle without it. I took it into Tempe Honda Service and they said that the code read DTC P0172 and that I needed to replace all the fuel injectors.
I just purchased a 2017 Honda CRV the end of May, and while driving in the streets doing Lift, my car SUDDENLY came to a dead stop for no reason! Fortunately, I was NOT on the freeway and there were no cars behind me while driving on a main street going about 40mph. I called the Honda dealership and they could not figure what happened. They only suggested to deactivate the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) every time I get in the car. This was very scary and I find it unsafe and tedious to do this every time! I'm hesitant to drive my car but it's my only transportation! UNSAFE CAR!!!!
My 2017 CRV started beginning of this year 2023 one day with all the dash codes lighting up effecting the safety drivability of the vehicle. It would randomly stop accelerating and all driver assist system not functioning properly. Accelerating was dangerous vehicle would stall or hesitate to go and almost caused us to get into an accident. This has been brought to a main Honda dealership in Henrietta New York and confirmed that replacing the fuel injectors would solve the problem and that this was an ongoing issue with the Honda CRVs. My vehicle was one of many that had been waiting for fuel injectors to be delivered at that shop. Based on other forums and Honda sites how this isn’t a recall is baffling. We waited over a month without our vehicle being fixed and unusable because the part was out of stock. Vehicle is still not fixed and we called all out Honda dealerships in Rochester New York today and they ALL are waiting for fuel injectors for the CRVs they have being repaired. I purchased this vehicle known for Hondas reliability but this is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING you have customers with HONDA brand vehicles that ARE unusable and unsafe DUE TO A COMMON KNOWN ISSUE with the all the dash lights being effected by fuel injectors. This coming from a family of 6 with 4 children. Currently vehicle has been inspected by two auto shops for same issue and replicated codes, and unsafe driving issues with our CRV.
Today July 5 while driving on local streets at approximately 35 MPH my brakes activated. As quickly as they activated they released. It all occurred in a matter of seconds. The instrument panel brake warning light flashed "BRAKE". I was not alone in the vehicle when this happened and my passenger was as surprised as I. There were no other vehicles in the area. My car has approximately 51,000 miles. it is the first time this has happened. I have not reported this to my selling dealership but will contact them regarding this event.
CMBS system in Honda CRV 2017 Driving 25-30 mph on a clear day (sunny, dry pavement) when the brakes engaged without warning (beeping sounded, but I didn't see the "BRAKING" sign in orange blink) car stopped hard, I jerked forward in the seat. I was able to drive the car back home (less than a mile away). There were no cars in front of me and fortunately none in the back of me so this didn't cause an accident. I'm afraid to drive the car in case the brakes engage suddenly and causes a rear end accident. I called my local Honda dealership and made first appt available 7/11/2023. This follows 2 incidents where all warning lights flashed (5/8/2023) and (6/17/2023) (including brake system light) the codes pulled were about cylinder misfire at a Honda dealer (on 6/17/2023 - CMA Valley Honda)
New resistance in steering at highway speed trying to keep steering centered and straight. No indicators or warning lights noting issue. Noted Honda TSB 18-103, 54 vehicles ONLY were recalled. Symptoms similar to TSB, brought to dealer, master tech diagnosed replacement of rack and gearbox, paid by extended service warranty because this vehicle NOT recalled by Honda. Once repaired, within the week on highway the LKAS kept indicating "Steering Required" on a very well marked highway where I never had that issue before, and the LKAS system was very noticeably NOT preventing steering into another lane when turn signal not used. Currently have another appointment to fix that (probably LKAS reset). This entire issue could have potentially resulted in crash or injury if not diagnosed and repaired immediately.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the engine was idling rough. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
Rear driver side door does not lock nor do windows go up or down. Car does not start with remote.
Steering feels “sticky” when trying to make small corrections to keep the car straight. By “sticky” I mean a little bit harder to move smoothly than normal to keep the car straight. Or there is more friction than normal when making small corrections to keep the car straight. The steering is not smooth when making small corrections to go straight. The “stickyness” only happens from center and between the 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock positions. Also feels like it does not want to move but then suddenly slips or jerks to the left or right from center. There is sometimes a faint noise from the steering column area with the stickyness – sounds like a little clunk, or squeak like when something is rubbing and needs grease or lubricant or worn out. When does it happen? Seems to happen more often after driving for a while like over 30 minutes. Happens both when lane keep assist is OFF or ON, does not matter. More frequent at speeds above 35 mph Happens less frequently on short drives. Happens more frequently when driving straight on good, flat, smooth roads. No issues noticed while making full turns, only when driving straight. Seems to be getting worse/more frequent.
When driving straight the steering makes an unexpected jerk on ITS OWN to the right or left. The movement is a small JERK on its own from the 12 o'clock center position to about the 1 o'clock or about the 11 o'clock positions. After it moves on its own, it feels loose or like there is a dead spot where there is NO CONTROL, It feels like it slips/jerks when I move it back to correct the steering to the 12 o'clock center position. Feels like I have to fight with the steering to keep it centered when the unexpected movement happens. Happens both when lane keep assist is OFF or on. More frequent at speeds above 40mph and highway speeds 55+mph Happens less frequently at lower speeds and on short 5-minute drives. Happens more frequently when driving straight on good, flat, smooth roads.
The bearing wore out at only 62,839 miles causing sudden and complete engine failure on the highway in the desert near Barstow California. We lost power and the car was shaking and spewing blue smoke from the tailpipes. We easily could have been rear ended at 70 mph but somehow managed to get off to the side of the road and at 2 mph make it up an exit ramp. We had to have the car towed 2 hours to a Honda Dealership in Irvine and it needs a whole new engine. It has been there 17 days (ruining our road trip vacation) and just now is finally getting the new engine. The top of the line $2400 -10 year-120,000 mile extended warranty we bought at purchase is refusing to cover it. The mechanic has found a great deal of metal bits in the oil pan and the number 2 bearing is worn down to the brass like it is a much older car with more miles on it. There were no warning lights on the dash before this happened and the car was not overheating and had plenty of oil and oil life left. This whole experience has been a nightmare. Our North Carolina mechanic sent us Consumer Reports articles about the 2017 and 2018 CRV Turbo engines having a defect causing gasoline to leak into the oil system, thus reducing the effect of the oil on the bearings and cylinders. This is a serious and dangerous defect. The repairs alone will cost $8000 plus the added food and accommodation expenses, towing costs, and the complete ruining of our vacation.
While I am driving a cascade of warning lights signal on my dashboard. Alarms trigger causing a distraction.
Environmental safety issue: Honda recently extended the warranty on its air conditioning systems due to a known issue of faulty compressor seals. This should be a recall. Many thousands of vehicles (mine included) have been venting their refrigerant into the atmosphere. Even more will do so in the future.
Three years ago all the dashboard warning lights went on in my car saying everything was wrong with my car 'brake system problem,' power steering problem, hill assist problem, etc. etc. etc. I took it to Honda immediately and they had no idea why it was happening. If I spend $4,000 they'll figure it out. Once in a blue moon the lights will magically turn off on its own for two or three days with no problems and then the lights come back on every single time you start the car. 355 days out of the year the lights are on every single time you start the car with no safety features able to work. It's beyond irritating, but it's mostly annoying because when you pay for extra safety features (like lane keep assist) none of them work when the lights are on. NONE. No brake warning, no lane keep assist, nothing. The car runs fine - people who do the tire rotations can't recalibrate it. So I took it to Honda again last week only to be told it is a problem with the fuel injectors and it's mostly 2017 models because of the new engine look. The fuel injectors weren't made properly to fit the vehicle, and the fact thousands of people have had this exact issue and Honda WON'T address it or do a recall, is absolutely wrong and disgusting. It's not a cheap fix. I will never buy a Honda ever again.
Our Honda 2017 CR-V AWD EX randomly braked in traffic causing the car behind us almost rear-end us. We had no warning at all this would happen. No warning lights were on. My wife, myself and our 3 year old were all put at risk. We are waiting a call back from the Honda service department. We had the problem reported here: https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/24/business/honda-cr-v-accord-braking-investigation/index.html
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH, the rear middle seat belt locking mechanism suddenly became unlocked causing the car seat to become unsecured. While attempting the reattach the seat belt, it was discovered that the seat belt locking mechanism would not remain securely locked. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
The 2017 CRV stopped with no apparent reason whatsoever. We were driving about 45 miles an hour with my family in the car and for no apparent reason the car engaged is braking system. There were no cars in front no pedestrians nothing. This is happened several times and I'm afraid to put my new 17-year-old driver behind the wheel. We had a near miss and almost got rear-ended I hope that they can come to a resolution as to this issue because obviously there is one.
i was driving on local street at 35miles and my Honda CRV2017 suddenly started beeping with BREAK message and after few second before i do anything it did automatic hard break. i was alone on street and other car before me was atleast 5-6 cars distance ahead. i read online where multiple people complaint about same issue so i'm reporting it here. earlier i was getting few break warning without any car ahead or near by but this time it was hard break which may have caused rear ending if other vehicles are behind me. recently my car passed inspection and i'm seeing this kind of issue.
