I was driving on a 2 lane highway, in the right travel lane, at approximately 60 MPH. There were no vehicles immediately in front of me in this lane, however, there was a line of stopped vehicles in the breakdown lane (to the right of my vehicle), because the off-ramp was backed up onto the highway. My forward collision warning system flashed BRAKE, 3 times on the dashboard. I took my foot off of the gas pedal, and before I could apply the brake, the car automatically slammed on the brake. My car stopped in the middle of the highway. Thankfully I was not rear ended by the car behind me. I took my car to OCEAN HONDA OF HANOVER, MA. They said everything is in working order, and "this just happens sometimes." I am not able to turn off this feature! I read a report (Consumer Reports Feb 2022) stating that you have been notified of approximately 300 of these instances with the 2018 HONDA CR-V. There is no recall. Are you still looking into this?
Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, collision mitigation control, and other safety features are unavailable. Problem has been confirmed by independent service center. Has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No prior warning lamps until all warning lamps come on. Appears to be related to fuel injector failure code but the mechanic is not certain. I wonder if this is related to the fuel/oil contamination issue that this vehicle was part of a recall for.
Multiple engine failure codes appeared on dashboard. Took vehicle for inspection and diagnoses states code P0172 Fuel system too rich. The service technician recommended fuel injector replacement due to faulty injectors. Service advisor did not file a warranty claim on my behalf despite my request to do so. When I called Portfolio Protection, they informed me that the technician did not call in the claim. Portfolio Protection Ever Drive 250 Limited Powertrain Coverage has an exception for injectors listed in the Mechanical paragraph as follows: Mechanical: This Limited Warranty does not provide coverage for service adjustments/cleaning, carburetor, throttle body assembly (except injectors), contaminated fuel system, water ingestion, air conditioning recharge, refrigerant, coolant, battery cables, belts, hoses, brakes (front hubs, drums, shoes, lining, disc rotors and pads), exhaust system, (...) etc. Portfolio Protection and Barber Honda Service Advisor will not acknowledge the exception for injectors clearly stated in the contract. I took the steps required in the contract to file a claim and spoke to multiple adjusters at Portfolio Protection and they refused to acknowledge the exception for injectors. Honda has extended the warranty on fuel injectors for other vehicles due to faulty injectors and incorrect installation during the assembly process as stated on Honda Service Bulletin 22-002. This is clearly an ongoing issue with Honda and needs to encompass all vehicles.
After battery replacement done by dealership Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, horn was off, lights were on, keyless remote can not be detected, many safety system errors etc. Called road side assist, after entire system reset, everything seemed to be normal, but problem showed up again on Saturday morning. Towed car to dealership, they checked everything and turned out to be body control module problem, had to replace body control module. My car only 5 years, 55k miles. It happed so randomly, faulty locks, faulty anti-theft, and can be a huge safety concern/issue.
When on the highway, if you try to match other cars speed, the car turns on the check engine and starts losing its force. When I check, it says it has a problem with misfire. P0304 & P0303. Honda changed the injectors, coils and spark plugs. The vehicle dilutes a large quantity of gas into the motor oil. 1/4 more of gas than the 3.7 quarts that the engine is supposed to have. The motor is a 1.5 engine. The car isn’t safe because I have to stop on the highway, turn it off and on then start driving again and pray that in 5 minutes the same thing won’t happen again. I’ve had to stop using the car and it’s been parked for 2 months and Honda wipes their hands clean because it’s out of warranty, yet the majority of people with this specific model have the same problem.
I was driving on a local road at night with no vehicles in front of me. Suddenly, The Forward Collision Warning light came on and the Automatic Emergency Brake was triggered. I had to let go off the gas temporarily, and the vehicle was operable again. on several occasions the Forward Collision Warning light would come on for a second then disappear with nothing in front of me. These seem to have occurred mostly at night time.
I own a 2018 Honda CRV with 57,000 miles. I have brought it to the dealer for every required maintenance. On a recent road trip south, I noticed when driving on the highway that the steering wheel was sticking in place. There were no warning indicators. It felt dangerous, because I had to apply force even on slight curves to turn and stay in the lane. I thought, perhaps the power steering fluid was low or gummy. So, when we finally arrived at our destination, I brought it to the dealership and was told no -- actually there is no longer any power steering fluid. The electronic steering rack is failing. Worse - the sticking will continue to get worse until it fails altogether, and the power steering will stop working. There was no time frame for when any of these things might occur - like a time bomb. The repair cost is $4446.33! I asked if there is a recall for this and the dealership said no but they could refer me to sales if I wanted to trade it in for a new car! Also, the new part would only be guaranteed for one year!!! Since finding this out I have done research on the problem and found that many people have had this same problem. Some cars have been recalled but not others. I have had Hondas my whole life and with much higher mileage and I have never had any issues as dangerous as this. I cannot believe that Honda did not address this with a recall. Here is a website with other Honda owners that seem to have the same problem. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving south on the Fl Turnpike when my vehicle shuts off,
Fuel injectors. This causes electronic safety system to go haywire telling me they have malfuctioned. Evidently this is caused by the fuel injectors going bad. This puts the safety of me and my family at risk. All these failures can cause an accident. Research shows Honda Knows this and has discontinued the fuel injectors because they are faulty leaving owners without any resolution. They have no timeframe to resolve this. Could be months with owners not knowing how to proceed. therefore should not Honda be forced to buy back the curve just like Volkswagen did a few years back. Tired of car manufacturers putting the publics safety at fault because they put profits ahead of safety. I did my due diligence in researching this. Dealership in no help as their hands are tied because of Honda corporations failure.
On two separate occasions while driving the brakes locked up. The first time it happened was while driving over a steel street plate in a construction zone. The second time was while driving over normal road conditions. Had anyone been following closely it would surely have resulted in a collision. It also creates a real risk of injury to the driver being thrown forward without warning. These incidents occurred months apart.
Was driving at night when automatic emergency braking immediately kicked with no car immediately in front of us What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Automatic emergency braking system. yes How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? there was a car behind us that also had to suddenly brake. if they had not, we would have been in a car accident Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no
I have been having issues with steering on the Honda CRV. The steering catches while driving down the interstate, which makes it hard to keep it in your lane. I have had the vehicle into the Honda dealer twice and they say that they can’t find anything wrong with the steering. The auto braking also comes on unexpectedly at times. I have contacted American Honda twice and can’t get a response on what I should do.
Driving in a neighborhood going 25 mph no one in front of me or behind me and the car flashes BRAKE makes a beep and then just locks the brakes and I skid to a stop. Took the vehicle to the dealership to check on it and they could not find anything wrong with it however the person said that the systems are not perfect, and things can happen. If someone was behind me, I would have caused an accident.
Fuel injector failure at 68,000
On multiple instances and most recently two days ago, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) has triggered orange "BRAKE" warnings or automatically applied the brakes to my 2018 CR-V despite there being no vehicles or obstacles ahead. Sometimes, this is caused by the system apparently getting confused by flat plates on the ground (for construction), shadows, or construction markings on the road, but about half of the time, there is absolutely nothing there. Most cases just flash a visual warning with beeps, but in two cases, I have almost gotten rear-ended because the car came to a complete stop in the middle of the road while traveling at 25-30 MPH. This has been going on for at least 2 years. I have tried to disable this system repeatedly to avoid accidents, but it keeps turning back on every time I start the engine. I read about an NHTSA investigation into this in 2022 but have not heard of any recalls or recommended actions for this safety issue. Thank you.
2018 Honda CR-V EX Shortly after purchasing my Honda CR-V in Feb 2018, I noticed a strong smell of gas when I changed the oil. I found a recall bulletin regarding fuel mixing with oil and worked with Honda to have a software update (Case #*******) in late 2018. Afterwards, the vehicle performed normally and has for a few years. Approximately 12 months ago every light on the instrumentation panel came on (Vehicle Stability, Adaptive Cruise Control, Tire Pressure monitoring, Collision avoidance, Lane Keep assist, etc) I used a code reader and found that the only hard code was P0172 “Fuel System Too Rich”. I reset the code and it came back the following day. I reset the code again and it came back 2 months later. Since then, the exact same code has shown up at least 6 times. It always occurs while the engine is running and I am idling, not when driving. Sometimes the dash warning lights clear automatically after a few days and sometimes I have to manually reset the P0172 code with a OBD tool. I have replaced the battery to ensure it wasn’t a low voltage issue, but it continues. While the code is set and all of the warning lights are present on the dash, none of the vehicle safety features work. Collision avoidance, Lane Keep assist, Adaptive Cruise Control. I do have an appointment scheduled with my local Honda Service Center for Oct. 2. Reading through TSBs and Customer complaints, I find hundreds of examples of this exact issue. I am concerned I will be billed $2K for a known issue with the fuel system in this vehicle. I recently purchased a 2023 Ridgeline and plan to give the CR-V to my 16 yr old son and I am also concerned about the reliability and safety systems on this vehicle. Please advise. Regards,
As I drove down the street at around 43 miles per hour my car suddenly braked then the sound and sign for brake came on. It came on after the car had breaker already.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) engaged while there was no vehicle or objects nearby, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.
On September 6, 2023 at approximately 5:30 pm, I was driving approximately 30 mph when suddenly my car stopped abruptly for no reason. Consequently although with seat belt on, my head and neck were thrown forward and back. There was no obstacle in my path...the nearest vehicle in front of me was about one city block away. I had an immediate headache and my neck was hurt also. This pain lasted several hours. I had my grandson and his friend in my vehicle at the time and they were wearing their seatbelts and fortunately they were not injured.I made an appointment with the dealer and went the next day They adjusted this system and told me these things have occurred possibly because of a shadow or something else off to the side of the road. There was nothing in either case.
ALL WARNING LIGHTS FLASH THROUGH AND CHIME AND IT STAYS THIS WAYS FOR DAYS THEN STOPS THEN STARTS UP AGAIN. IT CYCLES THROUGH EACH EMERGENCY SETTING INCLUDING BRAKING. TIRE, LANE DEPARTURE... NOT SAFE SINCE YOU DONT KNOW IF ANY OF THESE ARE REAL WARNINGS. HAD IT SCOPED AND NO ISSUES SHOWED UP. HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS BUT NO SOLUTIONS. DANGEROUS AND ANNOYING
-The Collision Mitigation System (CMS). - The CMS system has deployed numerous times over the last six months (approximately) without warning for no reason. The last time, I was traveling at approximately 45-50 mph and without warning and with no car within 100 yards of my vehicle, the brakes were automatically applied taking my speed instantaneously down to less than 10 mph, creating a very unsafe situation, especially if there had been a car traveling closely behind. -The vehicle was brought to a Honda dealer who ran tests and said there were no code errors. I was told that if the system applied the brakes that it proves that it is working correctly, even though I argued that they may technically be working but not appropriately. -Yes it was seen at a Honda dealer. -There were no warning signals when this occurred. It was totally out of the blue and caused a whiplash affect. -In my opinion this is a very dangerous situation and luckily it has not been serious any of the times it has happened to date. I would hate for it to be serious in the future and cause serious or fatal injuries. Currently we have to manually shut off the CMS every time we are driving.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
On 8/28/23, I turned my car on and all the warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. Two days later, just before bringing the car in for diagnostics, they stopped flashing. Then today, started again. This happened before in April, of this year, but the lights stopped flashing until now. In May, my car slammed on the brakes while I was driving down a side road. The diagnostics showed nothing. Today, 9/1/23, the diagnostic report states the following need immediate attention:Fuel Injector Replacement: Need fuel iniector; *Brake Flush; Valve Cover Gasket Replacement; *Spark Plug Replacement 4 Cylinder My car is no longer under warranty
I was driving down a straight road on Sunday, August 27 going 50 mph in a 55 mph zone with no other cars on the road around me. My foot was on the gas. My car automatically braked with no warning. We went from 50 mph to stopped in the middle of the road and even with our seatbelts on, we almost hit the windshield it stopped so violently. As soon as it happened the car started to go again. We were very lucky no one was behind us or we would have been rear-ended due to the sudden stop. It also hurt our necks and backs from being jerked forward so violently. There were no warning messages or any warning signs before this occurred. This happened one other time about 6 months ago. It was the same scenario except we were going about 25 mph and just had gone through a stop light. The first time we thought it was just a glitch as my battery had died and we had just replaced it and the electronics were not working correctly just before the battery died. We notified the dealership and they were of no help. They said it was probably because we had just had a windshield replaced and it needed recalibrated, but it had just been calibrated a week prior. We took it to our mechanic and there were no codes on the computer except for a software update, which we have scheduled. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
On 2 occasions the automatic braking system has kicked on for no apparent reason. First time my husband was driving at 55 mph on route 33, passing the exit to route 42. It kicked on twice. Second time I was driving at 50 mph on route 203, a country setting, no cars in front either coming at me or driving towards me. No animals around. It kicked on for no apparent reason and slowed the car way down. My fear is that we could be rear ended. If a person we’re riding in the car, unbuckled it could throw them around in the car and cause injury.
Danger light came on tell me to pull over
The brakes of my car activated automatically while my foot was pressing neither the gas nor the brake pedal. The forward collision alert also sounded. I was traveling at around 45 mph and was suddenly slowed to about 20 mph. Afterwards, everything seemed to returned to normal. I am unsure if this is available for inspection. There were five of us in the car and we were all put in danger due to the sudden change in speed while in traffic, however no collisions or injuries resulted from this incident. This issue has been previously reported by the NHTSA. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no prior messages or symptoms.
Took CRV into Honda dealership for oil change and tire rotation. They also completed a multipoint inspection. Within 2 hours of leaving dealership, car stalled on the highway and showed errors all over the dashboard. Was able to get crv to start back up, but errors continued and car would jerk when trying to accelerate over 33mph. Called Honda dealership who said battery must have failed. Had battery tested, it was good. Jiffy lube was the closest place to have the car checked. Technician found cap wasn’t replaced correctly after oil change, causing the oil that had just been put in to leak out, and recommended returning to Honda. Returned to Honda dealership, who after 2 days diagnosed a fuel tank failure. Prior to oil change, vehicle did not have any issues with starting/stalling or error codes. 2018 crv with less than 70,000 miles. Was purchased completely new.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 5 MPH. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he was then made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, upon notifying an unknown dealer, he was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall, and he would be charged a fee for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated violently, and the contact heard an abnormal sound underneath the vehicle, prompting her to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection underneath of the vehicle, the contact observed that the driveshaft had detached. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that six bolts were missing on the front of the driveshaft and that there were loosened bolts on the rear of the driveshaft. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 84,000.
Our 2018 Honda CRV EX-L AWD started exhibiting symptoms of when driving straight and making minor corrections the wheel felt like a magnet was holding it and the would let go causing you to over correct, started maybe 2-3 months ago, starting to feel like it’s getting worse. Took 2 trips to Honda dealer and me doing research online about service bulletins and recalls before they could figure it out. Given Honda has a Bulletin about it and there was a NHTSA campaign for it, which affects safety it seems Honda should be covering this repair. (NHTSA Campaign # 18V663000) Was told it only affected a few vehicles and ours wasnt part of the campaign even though it’s the exact problem ours has. The car feels unsafe with it the steering becoming unpredictable and it should be Hondas responsibility to rectify this safety issue especially since the company knows of it, yet the dealer told me wouldn’t be covered and I would have to pay $4417.21 to fix this! I dont have that type of money laying around for this big of a repair! Let alone why would I want to pay for it when it sounds like a known issue that Honda should be doing the right thing and covering what sounds like a manufacturing defect. Dealer seemed to reference Honda Service Bulletin 18-103 which exactly describes our issue in the CRV and seems to also match the same statement of the NHTSA bulletin above. We ended up paying to get the vehicle fixed at Honda Dealer, and Honda Corporate refused to help us out at all, receiving an emailed reply that our vehicle is out of warranty and we should just consider this the normal cost of ownership. I decided it was time to file a complaint after seeing even brand new CR-V's are being recalled for steering issues as well now. It seems clear there is widespread issues with many Honda Vehicles and has been for years and Honda isn't doing the right thing and fixing dangerous steering on ALL affected vehicles, and seems to still be building models with the problem!
In August of 2023 I was trying to accelerate after getting off a clover ramp and I was going about 10-15mph when my car suddenly felt like it slammed on the brakes and came to a stop. There were no warning lights on the dash and no vehicles or obstacles around for it to brake on its own. I had to reapply my foot to the gas again and again for my vehicle to move.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the steering rack. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,700.
Driving speed limit down Beach Blvd. Overpass at Kernan Blvd was misread as a hazard. Instrument panel flashes (and sounds) Brake Brake Brake. Stopped instantly as entering intersection. Gas pedal was still engaged. Fortunately, car directly behind had ample distance (and was paying attention) to avoid rear ending the car at full speed. This exact situation has happened several times to me before today. Happened on overcast days. Reported to this agency and to Honda. Diagnostics were done at the dealership. System was guaranteed to have all the current updates and the sensitivity was adjusted to be less sentive to correct any further occurrences. Impossible to turn off this 'safety feature' per dealership. They were unaware of any systemic problems involved despite the fact I was able to locate other similar complaints online. I have an appointment tomorrow at Honda to reassess the recurring problem. Some one is going to die or be seriously injured when unexpected braking at higher speeds and larger trucks are involved.
My steering wheel has been sticking when driving. I took it to Honda to have it check out and it’s faulty electronic steering rack. Well when looking it up online I found Honda already had a recall for this exact issue but my vin is not included. I’ve seen post of others complaining of the same issue. How is mine not a part of the recall when it’s apparently having the same issue.
On Aug 15, 2023 i was turning left at an intersection with no cars in front of me and no cars in oncoming traffic. i was going 20-25mph and slowing down a little bit to turn when i drove over a standard metal plate on the road and my 2018 Honda crv came to a complete abrupt and loud , painful stop. Lucky i wasn’t going any faster and there weren’t any cars immediately behind me. It did cause some pain in my back and neck and shook me up at the abruptness.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V158000 (Seat Belts) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
This letter serves as a request for clarification regarding the rejection of my goodwill claim, as well as an appeal for reconsideration as I believe there has been an oversight in evaluating my vehicle situation. I would like to provide additional information that I believe would shed new light on my situation. I believe that a comprehensive review of my appeal will demonstrate that the decision does not accurately reflect the Honda Company’s commitment to meeting the expectations of customers, nor does it reflect my own commitment to the Honda Company as a repeat customer for over a decade. About two weeks ago, my 2018 Honda CRV came to a full stop while driving on the highway. After spending the entire night stuck in the car with trucks and other vehicles driving past and almost hitting us, we were finally towed and brought to Lia Honda Brewster. If we weren’t on the right side of the road and preparing to take the exit, we would have been killed by the trucks speeding past us. At Lia Honda Brewster we learned that the transmission had failed and would cost 7,800 dollars to repair. This came as a shock because per the recommendations stated on Honda’s website, the transmission should be serviced every 50,000-100,000 miles and attached to this email is the paperwork proving that the car along with the transmission had been serviced according to Honda’s recommendation. As I did not misuse nor operate the car incorrectly, I am led to believe that the transmission had been defective. In New York State, Product Liability Laws place strict liability on manufacturers and automakers for defects in their car. Under these laws, a car must perform or meet the standard for which they were intended, meaning that I, the customer, can reasonably expect that I will not have problems operating the vehicle and expect the vehicle to be safely drivable. I am surprised as well as upset at Honda’s negligence and lack of accountability, but also because of the lack of support i
My Honda CRV infotainment system is flashing on and off uncontrollably with the brightness setting and cannot stop. It is very distracting and dangerous to drive at night as the entire screen flashes on and off brightly and beeps. I have taken multiple videos of the incident and also sent it to the Honda Dealership where they have not fixed the issue. They only did a factory reset and the issue still happens daily. I am aware of a Honda service bulletin 19-066 that is describing this exact issue but it is not a recall so they will not update the faulty software to fix the issue. Very dangerous to drive with this issue.
This issue is something I've noticed happen about once every six months since I've had the car (purchased in January 2018), but I have never had it inspected or confirmed by an authorized professional, dealer, etc. On occasion, the automatic brake system will detect a false positive and flash on the screen to brake OR just automatically apply the brakes for the vehicle, even when there is nothing in front of me. I don't know if it's coincidence, but this tends to happen when there are virtually no vehicles within close vicinity and when I'm either cresting a slight incline or at the base of a slight decline. I have had this happen at various speeds, from 30mph to 60mph. This puts my and others' safety at risk as an unexpected brake may cause a crash. No messages or other symptoms of this problem exist. It just happens on occasion.
The contact owned a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that his wife was driving approximately 60 mph, when a Chevy Blazer crashed into the vehicle. The front passenger door was detached during the impact. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The passenger occupant sustained head injuries, and medical attention was provided. The driver and two rear occupants had no injuries, but medical attention was provided at the hospital. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
Steering binds. You feel resistance to turning the wheel in either direction before it steers when added force is put on the steering wheel.
On 2 separate occasions the car braked on its own one time so severely my seat belt activated. Brake light flashed on dash both times Luckily no one was behind me or it would have been an accident. First time it happened as we drove on the interstate. On both occasions there were no cars in front of us to warrant the car to break. It does it on its own
Steering gearbox failing, confirmed by Honda dealer. There was a recall on this model but this vehicle was not included.
Steering wheel sticks when turning, as has been reported by many others. It becomes difficult to make even small movements with the steering wheel and is a clear safety issue. When the issue first began, my car had only 30K miles on it - it now has 34K, and the problem has gotten materially worse. I see that this problem exists in recent CR-V models as well, so this appears to be a systemic issue.
Steering wheel gets a sticky spot in it when driving and you making corrections
-Steering gear box is failing. The steering wheel is sticking and clunking. -Failure of steering puts safety of driver and passengers at risk -This problem was diagnosed by a Honda dealer and also verified by an independent service center -No warning lights or messages appeared prior to problem onset. The issues with steering were initially mild and sporadic, began about 4 years after new vehicle purchase when mileage was <20,000. The issues became more persistent over time. -Of note, there is a 2018 Honda safety recall for the steering gearbox for some vehicles of the same year and model
I am writing today because I am trying to avoid and accident involving injury and possible death as a result of a situation which is present on on above referenced 2018 Honda CRV, with just 54,000 miles on the odometer, we are needing to consider replacement on what would be our 3rd set of tires, as the result of premature tire wear, on the rear axle, because there is no adjustment to the upper rear control arm, we have purposefully rotated the tires and still experience premature tire wear on the inside shoulder of the tire. I consider this situation to be a manufacturing defect, as we have attempted several 4-wheel alignments, and have been told that without an adjustable rear upper control, no positive results can be reached. I am attaching a photo of one of the tires showing extreme tire wear on the inside shoulder of the tire,
I bought this vehicle few weeks ago from the Honda Bellevue, Washington state. After one week or more, all warning signal were presented and we could smell strong gasoline inside cabin when all windows were closed. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they couldn't figure out the problem but only updated the software for me. After the checkup, me and my family smelled gasoline twice. I am so worry about it because I have used this vehicle to deliver my 8 year old son to school and other sport activties.
When driving the steering feels like it's resisting. I purchased the car used and noticed it at 36k miles but never owning a vehicle with auto assist features, I just thought it had to do with that. When turning the steering wheel feels like it's sticking and I have to over correct to go straight again. I brought to dealership and they said I need to replace the steering rack. I've seen where many people are having the same issue. I love my car but not now that I don't feel safe driving it.
