Steering gets stuck and hard to steer
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 23V158000 (Seat Belts) however, the part to do the recall repairs was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V158000 (Seat Belts) and the contact was informed by the dealer the work was completed; however, the contact checked online, and the recall remained open. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle to the dealer in March of 2023. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the instrument cluster and the Lane and Collision Warning Systems failed, and the instrument cluster went dark. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure and happened at various speeds. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear taillights had failed, and the Forward Collision Avoidance system was also malfunctioning. The contact stated that the vehicle reset independently when the vehicle was parked and turned off and the instrument cluster and other electrical failures regained functionality. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and would resolve the electrical failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
On two separate occasions when driving, my vehicle slammed on the brakes by itself with no obstructions or vehicles in front of me. When it happens the instrument cluster says brake. Luckily no one was behind me or I would have been rear-ended.
At 57000 miles, our SUV suddenly displayed a warning of “emission control problem”. Within a few miles of that, the car displayed virtually every warning message it has… something in the range of 20 different alarms. The onboard computer showed the problem to be 1 cylinder running too lean. The fix was to replace the fuel injector on that cylinder, but Honda now only sells the injector in sets of 4 for their 4 cyl engines. I ended up paying $1438 to have all the injectors replaced in a car that is not even 5 yrs old. This follows the replacement of a faulty A/C compressor for $2200 a year ago when the car had around 45000 miles. These kinds of premature failures are more and more common in Honda’s , and it’s clear Honda is doing nothing to address the issues if a car is out of the 36k mile warranty. Outrageous!!!!
On at least 5+ occassions the dashboard warning lights all start flashing. I have tried to reboot & it doesn't correct the problem. Usually after a few days it just stops flashing only to happen again days or months later.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle experienced unintended braking. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he had experienced the failure twice while driving the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, the vehicle was stalling and losing motive power. The vehicle was able to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact then stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 30 MPH and merging onto a road, the vehicle stalled, she lost control of the steering wheel, and she crashed into a ditch where the vehicle came to a stop. The contact stated that the air bags had failed to deploy and that his wife was hospitalized with neck, shoulder, and back injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the undercarriage, radiator, oil drain pan, and additional unknown components needed to be replaced. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure was 15,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after waking up, she became aware that all the windows and the sunroof were opened. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that it was a common failure with the year, make, and model vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that an unknown control module was malfunctioning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000(Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing engine hesitation while driving. The local dealer and Round Rock Honda(512-904-6900) were contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Stopped at a red light then proceeded to drive through the intersection on the green light. No cars or pedestrians in front of the car. Driving about 15 - 20 mph when the automatic braking system engaged and slammed on the brakes for no reason. The jeep behind me rear-ended me then drove off.
As I was driving on the interstate, heading to get gas because I had 25 miles left (according to my car's system), my car stalled from going about 70 mph. At the exact same time, I got warnings for what seemed like every system of the car. Luckily, I was able to get on the left shoulder before I stopped moving, but if traffic was worse or if I wasn't as close to one of the shoulders, I would've been stranded in a lane (or two) of the interstate. After I took my car to the dealership, they determined I had a bad fuel pump and that it needed to be replaced. Turns out that I didn't have 25 miles left; I had 0. I emailed Honda Customer Service, mentioning a prior recall they had for fuel pumps, but it seems that didn't include mine.
While driving the suv I notice a pulling sensation in the steering wheel. It feels as though it's going to lockup. Most times while I'm turning I can feel some resistance as though it's trying to avoid the turn. It's definitely not 'normal'! I've read many complaints and they're all similar, having same issues as I.
Fuel injectors, sending too much fuel into spark plugs. Accelerated and nothing happened. Except jumping and bucking motions. Drifted to side of road. every single light on the dashboard came on, and the vehicle was not drivable. Towed to Honda where this was diagnosed. $2,200 plus repair bill to replace fuel injectors and spark plugs. 2018 crv 1.5 engine, 138,000 miles.
While driving all dash lights warning started flashing disabling forward crash avoidance power steering stability control tire pressure everything is blinking and flashing. Had to pull to side of road and almost got run over
Driving to work this morning approximately 6:40am, it was pretty dark out. Road conditions were fine (dry, no rain or snow, etc.). My CR-V automatically slammed on the brakes without warning for maybe 1/2 of a second and then released them as the screen flashed bright and then immediately kicked to an error about the auto-high beam detection system. Luckily there was no one behind me. There was one vehicle approaching me from the other side of the road but they did not have their high beams on. I was looking ahead the whole time and did not see any other errors before or after it happened, and I was applying the gas pedal the whole time as well. In case it's a contributing factor, my car is fairly dirty from road salt spray (dry) and I was going run it through the car wash this afternoon.
Component: Body Control Module (vehicle is sitting at the deanship). Safety of driver and 2 small children (6 year old and 18 month old) in back seat. First the remote start didn't work - that was okay, but driving down the highway 75South going home after pick up children the door locks kept going off and on, the windows kept going up and down (all windows). No warning whatsoever. However upon reading on internet the first sign of the body control module failure was when the battery kept dying and we replaced that at a cost of $200. Now we are told we can still drive the car while we wait for the part - which we are told could be 9 months to a year for the part, we would need to unhook the battery and hook it back up. Is this really what you tell a single mom, nursing student with two small children to do. What could happen if the wires a crossed and the car goes up in flames with children inside? Cannot afford to have a rental car for 9 months or more.
18 Honda CRV, 40k miles now. All of my warning lights just came on at once last week. I took my car to the dealer, they charged $147 for inspection and said I needed new fuel injectors with $2000 estimate.
We had just gotten off the freeway and were sitting at a stoplight. When the light turned green, all of a sudden several of the yellow warning lights on the dashboard started to flash: emergency braking, electronic parking break, tire pressure, lane-keep assist, and others. The car became sluggish and moved forward haltingly and slowly. It feels like the breaks or the parking break are cycling on and off. We pulled over as soon as we could. Turning the car off didn't clear the warning lights. We called AAA and they came and checked the battery -- which was at 100% and working fine. The parking break works fine; we can hear it turn on and off using the lever. We had it towed to a Honda dealer nearby and are having it evaluated. It is undriveable in this state, and we are concerned that even if the dealer gets the warning lights to shut off, it could happen again at any time. There are reports all over the NHTSA website that this is a common issue -- please investigate!
On February 5 2023, I attempted to buckle the front passenger seat belt on the referenced vehicle. The buckle would not latch in the assembly. We brought the vehicle to our local mechanic and it was determined that the latch mechanism was defective. I heard on the news that a recall was issued for 2018 Honda CRV's for a defective seat belt latching mechanism on March 9. 2023. I was informed that my VIN was not included in the recall and Honda stated they would not cover the repair. Either this is a striking coincidence or the recall class is not complete and needs to be expanded. I read the reason for the recall was that the parts were not made to specification. Has it been determined specifically whether the defective parts were n
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there were several unknown warning lights and other symbols illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed, it was determined that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.
I have been experiencing issues wherein the steering wheel sticks when turning both left and right. This has become progressively worse and It can make it difficult to control the vehicle. The steering also makes a clicking/creaking noise when backing. I had my vehicle inspected and have been advised that the power steering gear box and column be replaced for $4,100 for just parts, but the parts are on back order nationwide so it could be a few weeks before my vehicle can be repaired. I see online that many owners are experiencing the same issues with this model and in conjunction with the parts being on backorder nationwide, this also tells me this is a common issue. This is the only vehicle I have and I have already contacted Honda to find out where there is no recall for this issue.
A multitude of cracks forming with in 2 years. First one happened with zero Contact to the windshield. Others when Ice landed on windshield. Another when barely moving and a small cack noise and a small crack appeared.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was inadvertently pulling to the right. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The car would hesitate and slow down upon acceleration from a stop or slow speed. Could easily have caused the drivers behind me to hit me if they weren't paying attention.
I was driving around 50 mph there was no car in front of me then all of a sudden the car braked very hard. My son got scared so did I. I’m glad there was no one behind me cause if it did they would have hit me. I did not put my foot on the brakes, it did it automatically. Like I said I was driving regular at 50 mph. There should be a recall on this issue and see if the emergency braking sensor can be deactivated. I’m scared driving my Honda CR-V cause of that incident.
While in line to park the car in the del mar fairgrounds, (San Diego, CA) after a 25-minute ride and 59 F degrees outside, main display start sending all type of 'Problem' messages, one after another, as follow: - Brake Hold System Problem, - Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, - Vehicule Stability Assist (VSA), - Hill Start Assist, - Adaptative Cruise Control, - Collision Mitigation System, - Road Departure Mitigation System, - Electric Parking Brake, - Tire Pressure Monitor, - Emissions System, Brake System. Despite all Messages, the car keeps running and is able to go off and start again. Perhaps, the electric parking brake may prevent you to go if connected, since you have no control of it (happened once). This is the second time in two weeks that this failure occurs. It may or may not be related to another consistent issue regarding the side display (the one used for radio control, brightness, car setup, etc.) which becomes unstable and change/beep with no control from one screen to another, starting with the brightness control. This case requires the car to turn off and restart, solving the issue for a couple of weeks, and up to two months. I'm writing down this complaint because other owners express the same issue in forums, with no official statement from Honda so far. Countermeasures recommended by other users are: Exchange the battery for new one Drive around and apply brakes firmly. The above fixed the issue for me. A cell video of this issue is available. Attached picture shows all warning alerts with car engine idle. Thank you.
The parking brake could not be released. Driver was stranded and had to get the car towed to the dealer. Cost $ 470 to repair. The vehicle is less than 5 years old - and brake parts should be in drive train warranty - but dealer denied coverage. My car has had problems in the past with electronic components - related to the automatic driver assist system - specifically the sensors. The automatic brake engages when a normal driver wouldn't slam on the brakes.
- When I was switching lanes on the highway my dashboard started flashing brake system problem, steering wheel system problem, tire pressure system problem, etc. The engine light, breaker system light, battery light, steering wheel light, and a few others turned on. After coming to a complete stop my car would not turn off. After pushing the “power button” multiple times it turned off completely. - My safety and the safety of others on the road were put at risk when my car started slowing down as if the break was being pushed on its own on a 55mph highway. My car automatically slowed down to 35mph on its own causing me to park it on a solitary road next to the highway. - unknown - No - The car has shown on the dashboard to “brake” when no cars are in front of it a few times before.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became uncontrollable. The contact stated that while attempting to steer to the left, the vehicle failed to respond as needed and instead turned in the opposite direction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
The High Pressure Fuel Pump (16790-5PC-H02) failed on January 1, 2023 at approximately 11:10am in Seattle, WA. We were taking the interchange from WB SR 520 to SB I-5, which includes a short uphill section, when the engine lost power and completely stalled at the top of the ramp. No warning lamps or other symptoms appeared prior to failure. We were able to push the car and roll it through a gap in the concrete barrier into a vacant road construction site. Had the stall happened one minute later, my wife, our daughters aged 2 and 4, and I would have been stranded in heavy traffic in the number 1 lane of I-5 in an area with no safe shoulder. I cannot imagine how we would have avoided a serious collision in that case. We were not able to restart the car at that time and all repair shops appeared to be closed for New Year's Day, so we had the vehicle towed to our home. The vehicle started without apparent issue several days later, and we brought it to Sa-Go Auto Repair in Bellevue. The mechanic at Sa-Go was not able to immediately reproduce and advised us of fuel pump issues with the 2018 Honda CR-V. He directed us to have a dealer evaluate for recall repair. Honda of Bellevue was not able to reproduce the issue and suggested the stall may have been due to a dirty air filter, which they did not replace before returning the car to us. We returned to Sa-Go Auto Repair where the mechanic conducted an extended test drive with scan tool in sync and confirmed the High Pressure Fuel Pump fell off when the vehicle had been running for more than one hour. High Pressure Fuel Pump and Low Pressure Fuel Module Assembly were replaced by Sa-Go on 1/18/2023 and proper function confirmed on test drive. Old parts, including pumps and air filter, were retained by us and are available for inspection. No parts have been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Invoices and photos attached. Thank you for your consideration.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that on several occasions while attempting to accelerate to highway speeds, the vehicle hesitated. The engine block symbol was illuminated and blinking. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an engine replacement was needed due to head gasket failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics, who stated the failure was due to the turbo charger. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 84,333.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle accelerated and decelerated without warning. The contact added fuel injector cleaner. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact called another local dealer, Hillside Honda (139-07 Hillside Ave., Jamaica, NY 11435); but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Every component was flashing malfunctioning.WILL be taking it to dealer tomorrow.
While driving at about 53 mph on the highway, the collision braking system suddenly beeped, and the ”BRAKE” indicator on the dashboard came on by itself. There was no car in front of me for at least 100 feet, nor was there any car on the sides. It was a false positive. While the brake was not otherwise activated, and the car did not stop, it was quite disconcerting. This should be checked out. It was a clear evening, around 8pm.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The TPMS and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a fuel system malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.
I have a 2018 Honda CR-V touring , with a 1.5 turbo engine. It seems that as my oil usage (Mileage) increases, between oil changes, I have been losing Miles per Gallon. After an oil change my MPG is around 34 to 35 MPG. My car now is at 60% oil usage before an oil change is needed. I am due for an oil change now. The last oil change the mechanic noticed there was a thinning of the oil and the smell of gas in the oil was present, as well as the oil quantity was higher. We assumed the higher oil quantity is due to gas in the oil.
I was going through an intersection on my way home when the CRV suddenly applied significant braking force, flashed the BRAKE message on the dash display, and abruptly slowed the vehicle down. Thankfully there was no other vehicles behind me or there likely would have been a collision. There were no other vehicles in front of me. I can't recall the exact details of what other vehicles may have been around, but there was definitely no reason to be slamming on the brakes. This incident occurred at roughly 11:30am EST on a clear day with sun shining. This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
auto accident drive side struck guardrail driver's head hit side window then airbag deployed trapping driver's head between the airbag and door window.
This has happened about 3 times since I purchased the vehicle in end of 2018. While I was driving out of no where the car will just brake, there is nothing in front of me or blocking me and one time I was going about 40 mph and the others were when I was going about 30 and 50 so it’s been a range. Luckily every time I’ve been driving there has not been anyone behind me but for sure if someone was behind me, I possibly would’ve gotten rear ended with how fast the car stopped. Other times the car will beep the brake indicator at me, but not stop the car just telling me I need to apply the brakes but there’s nothing in front of me or around me.
The car does not get up to operating temperature at idle during cold climates. If the car is started and left to idle and warm up, the heat will not blow and the front window will not defrost. If the car is driven on short trips through town, it will not heat up at all. Also, if the car is driven around and gets up to operating temperature and then left to idle, the car's temperature will slowly edge down and cause no heat to blow from the vents. I have brought the car in to the dealer twice for the same issue only for them to tell me that this is a normal characteristic of the car and that nothing is wrong. I have never had this issue on any other vehicle. Additionally, the car suffers from oil dilution in the engine which cases poor performance and thinned oil. The oil level gradually increases over time after being driven because of gasoline entering the engine oil. I believe that this will eventually lead to premature wear in my engine.
I had buckled in my seat belt, and then started my car. The “seat belt unfastened” indicator turned off. After driving a few yards, the seat belt spontaneously popped out of its socket. The seat belt warning light and alert sound then turned on and I stopped and clicked my seat belt back in the socket. It appears that I may not have “clicked” my seat belt into the socket the first time. There may be a defect here with the seat belt warning light. If the seat belt “male” makes sufficient contact with the seat belt “female”, the warning light turns off. But really, the warning light should only go off if the male clicks and locks into the female.
I recently bought a 2018 Honda crv and have had ongoing issues with the touch display going on and off by itself. I took a video of it. It will randomly start blinking and beeping changing the brightness on the display. There is no way to shut it off or stop it without turning off the vehicle. I have also had issues with the automatic braking system. It is braking when it should not be. It has happened to me twice on the freeway now and once in town thankfully no one was behind me, or I would've been rearended badly and possibly been flipped in my vehicle. I was going 75 miles per hour, and it started flashing brake and then braked for no reason there was nobody in front of me. Another time it said I was skidding but I was not until it braked than I began to skid at which point it did nothing to stop the skid. I have recently skid on ice, in town and it did not do anything to stop it, nor did it respond. I have not taken the vehicle in yet. I was researching the issues to see if they were known issues with my vehicle. To my dismay they are. I bought this vehicle due to its safety features as I have my grandkids with me frequently. My Audi did not have the winter safety features I needed.
While driving (road trip 500 miles round trip), all the dashboard lights turned with no real indication of what the issues was. I pulled over to see if there was anything noticeable and did not see anything exteriorly nor once I opened the hood of the car. I continued my drive home (remaining 100 miles or so) and once I parked my car in driveway, I noticed a strong smell with black smoke coming from exhaust pipe with black oil at the end of my tailpipes. My car is currently at dealers getting looked at and they recommended changing my fuel injector and spark plugs, which they completed ($2,000) and I AM STILL having issues.!!! Doing my research online I noticed that there was a recall of this vehicle in China but not in the US, which is unacceptable. Something needs to be done ASAP!
I'm driving on the highway approx 70-75mph. as I am slowing down and moving over to the exit ramp all of a sudden the automatic emergency braking system starts braking! This almost caused a rear end collision from the car behind me. He had to swerve a little to miss me. He was pretty angry and most likely thought it was my intention to brake that hard. It was extremely frightening and I am wondering if I should just turn off this safety feature until Honda figures this out?
Turn my car on and every light on my car is currently flashing saying nothing safety wise is working. Googled it and it seems to be a major problem that Honda isn’t fixing.
I was driving approx. 35, no one in front of me on road and car slammed on brakes as if I was going to hit something.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel was firm while turning to the right. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be inspected to determine the cause of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V663000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
