The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking system activated inadvertently. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer of the failure but was informed that he would receive a callback. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
While driving on the highway at approximately 50MPH my 2019 Honda CR-V suddenly braked hard on its own, with no vehicle in front of me. Luckily there was no one behind me either or it would have likely caused me to be rear ended. It was a frightening experience, also causing neck pain for a few days afterwards. I reported the issue to Honda.
Without any warning or apparent cause the sunroof just shattered.
The forward collision or automatic brake system engaged for no reason, Zero cars on the road. The car beeped and then came to a complete stop, luckily no vehicles were behind me or I would have been involved in a car accident. The LCD screen beeps, turns on and off, brightens appears and go and down. It won’t stop until you turn the car off. It’s happened numerous times. The backseat passenger window went down and wouldn’t go up either by backseat passenger door or driver door, heard clicking by shutting the car off it fixed it.
In two instances, while driving in the city street (cloudy day, daytime) around 30 miles per hour, the car suddenly went into emergency breaking with no obvious reason. The breaking light flashing in the dashboard. No car in front at all. The car almost went to total stop. The system went back to normal less than a sec later. Everything was normal before it happened. I was lucky because no car was behind me when this happened. Did not take to dealer.
I was driving at about 10:30 PM in downtown Chicago (the bridge over the river on Madison St) on May 4th when my automatic emergency braking system engaged. There were no cars or people in front of me on the street, nor was there any other object that I was in danger of hitting. I was driving at approximately the speed limit. There was a car behind me but luckily they were far enough back that when I pressed the foot brake and turned on my hazards, they were able to go around .
ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ON DASH, BRAKES, POWERS STEERING , CRUISE CONTROL ANTI LOCK BRAKES ,LANE DEPARTURE ECT. THIS HAPPEN ON THE WAY TO WORK SHUT OFF CAR TWO DAYS REMAINED ON. ON THE WAY HOME LIGHTS WENT OUT. WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS. MADE APP AND AWAY IT WENT, APON ARRIVING TO DEALER , I EXPLANIED THATTHE LIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 150 DOLLARS FOR DIAGNOSTICS. TOLD THEM I WAS UNDER WARRANTY WITH FULL COVERAGE, DIDNT MATTER. THEY ASKED IF CAR WAS RUNNING OK AND I REPLY YES. BUT ALITTLE CONCERNING TO HAVE ALL LIGHTS FLASHING AT SAME TIME. NEEDLESS TO SAY ONCE AGAIN LIGHTS CAME ON A MONTH LATER SAME THING WITH DEALER MAKE APPOINTMENT. I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE IT’S NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR HONDA IT WAS HAPPENING TO THERE 2017. PLEASE CHECK INTO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WARNING LIGHTS.
While driving on expressway at posted speed of 70 mph, while there was no vehicle in front of me, my car went into emergency brake mode. This has happened several times but most commonly on expressways.
While operating vehicle at roughly 35-40 mph automatic braking system engaged for no reason. There was no one in front of me and thankfully no one behind me or I could have been struck from behind. My car also will not start now due to a message saying brake system problem. Will start if jumped but then will not start again.
The steering on this vehicle became “sticky” and requires extra force to pull it from the center position. This little bit of extra force causes overcorrection of the vehicle. Dealer was unable to reproduce while under warranty but now with 47000 miles says that it needs a steering gear. Vehicle has not been crashed or damaged in any way. American Honda will not fix the problem. Problem has been reproduced by dealer, no warning light on vehicle.
The Automatic Emergency Braking engaged for no reason .
automatic emergency braking system activating without a clear and present danger.
I was driving down the street when the brake warning light flashed and the car suddenly slammed on the brakes. There was nothing in front of the car that would have caused the brake warning to flash or the car to brake. Luckily there were no other cars around, however, if I was traveling faster or on a busy street it could have been a very different outcome.
Afternoon of 4/21/22, I was stopped at light and brake hold activated without being touched. 20 minutes later I was again stopped at a light and parking brake engaged and vehicle would not move until I disengaged brake. This is the 1st time this has happened and vehicle has not been inspected since incident. Brake warning light has flashed to BRAKE Several times when approaching an overpass ( this has occurred many times over the last year ).
Oil dilution issue in my 2019 Honda CRV. Gas getting into the oil and stalling the vehicle. Honda dealership changed oil, spark plugs and differential fluid. I was told to drive the vehicle more. The issue was not fixed and gas is still getting into the oil and continuing to damage the engine. The dealership hasn’t taken responsibility of this issue or the Honda Corporation. I contacted them and get no response back.
I was driving into a parking lot behind my store, as I approached my parking space going roughly around 5-7mph the brakes engaged by itself for a brief second (as if i had slammed on the brake pedal and let go) leading me to lose control and hit the wall/back door of my store. All warning lights are now on, damaged the front bumper and I'm guessing the radar sensor in the front. Called my insurance to try to file a claim, if not covered will try to contact the dealership.
Single internal 4" long windshield crack developed starting at the Honda Sensing safety suite sensor block built into the top of the windshield. This crack is growing in length on the passenger side of the windshield and is currently about 9" long. There were no windshield overheating or freezing issues (the crack originally appeared on 04/14/2022), no car incidents, or road hazards (like something hitting the windshield). My car is still under warranty but local Honda dealer refused to even take a look at the windshield condition stating that Honda's warranty does not cover windshield.
Car has stopped twice with no cars or objects in view. Would have been hit from the rear if other cars were close.
I was driving on a city street at around 30 mpr with no cars in front or behind me when my CRV came to sudden jerking stop and then continued forward. It was so abrupt that my head snapped forward and I slid toward the steering wheel. Luckily, no one was behind me otherwise, I would have been rear ended. This has created a great fear in driving my CRV. I still intend to contact the dealership and report directly to Honda.
Auto Braking System - Yesterday at night while driving at 45mph the Auto Braking System activated by itself inspite of no obstacles anywhere near me and the vehicle came to a complete standstill in the middle of the highway. I was lucky there was no vehicle behind me else I was for sure going to be rear ended. Lane Keeping Assistance System - The Lane keeping assistance activates itself even though it has been turned off. The vehicle forces me to stay in lane many times when there is a change in traffic pattern and also when you cross over a line just to stay safe from a vehicle that is crossing over a line on one of your sides. This is dangerous.
Multiple times, while driving, the automatic braking system engaged when there were no cars or obstacles ahead of me. Most recently I was accelerating, and the brakes slammed on throwing me rapidly forward. The car behind me was driving the same speed nearly rear ended me.
There is a recall on some "NOT" all 2019 Honda CRV -( Recall consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.) While driving my car started to stall and act up like it had bad gas, the dashboard then lit up with every warning possible. I was able to get my car to the dealership I purchased it from. They did the recall search and Zero open recalls for my 2019 honda were found however the mechanic stated it was the fuel pump which is the same problem listed above for the other 2019 CRV. Please investigate and Please help!.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while in a building he heard a loud explosion. Upon going outside, he noticed the vehicle seat was on fire. The fire was extinguished by the owner. The fire department was contacted and stated the fire may have been started in the passenger seat due to the coils. There were no reported injuries or police reports filed. The contact stated the heater in the seat was previously used. The contact had some items on the seat. The contact mentioned that he had his dog in the vehicle and could have died due to the safety failure. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42, 800.
The Automatic Emergency Braking System brakes the car to a complete stop when there is no reason or no obstacle in the way. This has happened on two occasions. Once in Alameda, CA while on a connector bridge to the island and second on a city street in Walnut Creek, CA on 4/1/2022. The Automatic Emergency Braking Light has come on in excess of 20 times during normal driving. Although no braking occurred, the light flashed for no reason. The emergency stopping will eventually cause an accident if it continues. The car is currently under warranty and has been brought back to the dealer.
3-29-2022 forward collision warning - BRAKE - showed on display in front of steering wheel. There was no vehicle in front of me for a great distance. This had not happened before but the automatic braking system has malfunctioned 2-3 times per year for the 3 years I have owned this car. I reported that to this site last week and have discussed that issue a number of times with 5 dealer employees to no avail.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Air condition system. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I hear metal particles sound inside the AC system under the hood once the car is stopped, which I assume may cause the combustible r1234yf refrigerant to set on fire, particularly in states like Texas and Arizona. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Dealer asking me to change the leaking hoses and independent service center asking me to change the compressor but no one tries to resolve the primary issue. Already spent nearly $500 to diagnose it, so tired of spending anymore money on that. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet, I'm registering it here first. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning but it all started after the refrigerant was empty.
In the past month, or so, my automatic emergency braking system has initiated, for no apparent reason. Last night's incident was the most severe. I was driving about 25-30 miles per hour, accelerating (to get to the speed limit of 35 mph), when the car's automatic braking system slammed on the brakes, causing my car to lunge forward. It was not a slight brake slowdown; it was a strong, immediate, brief stop. I am grateful that nobody was traveling close behind me, otherwise I would have been rear-ended. The very strong motion jerked me so that both of my wrists and my neck are now hurting. I am now very nervous about driving my vehicle; and, especially having passengers with me. I have left a message for the service manager at my Honda dealer (where I purchased my new vehicle in 2019), and am awaiting a return call.
We will be driving and it will say something like system brake and it will hit the brakes on us and cause us to lose control of the vehicle happens every few weeks
2 incidents Car going 60 mph on interstate, no cars around and car suddenly brakes. Lasted about a second or two. Car slowed but did not stop.
Automatic Braking system brakes several times a year for no reason and is a danger for someone rear-ending me. There may not be another vehicle in front of me for 20 car lengths or none at all. Dealer's personnel as recently as yesterday have doubted me/told me nothing can be done/is due to sensitivity to heat/air system temperature/a steel plate over a hole in the road etc. Say it is just the new technology which is so sensitive. Last time it happened was last week. Has happened for the three years I have owned this vehicle - purchased new.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his spouse was driving approximately 5 MPH in the driveway, the power steering and brakes became inoperable. The service brakes and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was related to the wiring harness in the rearview mirror. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
While getting off highway, traveling about 40mph, sudden severe braking, enough to force me forward in seat. Momentarily and then gone. Could have made me lose control and cause an accident.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. An unknown audible alert was heard coming from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to a faulty fuel pump. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Periodically the driving assistance will break the vehicle when there is no reason. It happens both when changing lanes as well as when driving straight-on. The warning light "Brake" appears on the dash and the breaking system engages. It has not put my safety at risk, but it is disconcerting when it happens.
Twice this has happened. Driving on normal city streets, approximately 35 mph, come to the metal plates on the road in construction area Nad car slams on its brakes and comes to a complete stop in traffic, almost causing an accident and scaring heck out of the occupants of the vehicle.
DEFECT - The Forward Collision Warning and Braking system erroneously activated for no apparent reasons. On March 3, 2022, I was driving on a highway at 65 miles per hour when the Forward Collision Warning and Braking system unexpectedly activated for no apparent reasons. I had reported earlier incidents of this erroneous activation to a Dean Honda service representative who attributed the cause to interference with sensors such as snow on vehicles. I want to emphasize the following conditions at the time of the March 3 erroneous activation: (1) my car was the only car on the road, no vehicles were in front, beside or behind; (2) the road was straight; (3) no overpasses, (4) no objects or structures on both sides of the road and (5) the windshield in the vicinity of the camera, and the hood and front grill in the vicinity of the radar were clean. As a result, I do not believe that the March 3 incident was attributed to sensor interference as Dean Honda claimed. On March 14, 2022, Dean Honda took possession of my vehicle for less than an hour and again claimed reflection could be the cause of the March 3 incidents. Dean Honda is located at 911 Clairton Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Phone no. 412-552-3228.
Car has completely stopped while driving numerous times. I have been driving anywhere from 35 to 45 miles an hour when the car suddenly stops for no apparent reason. Today I was almost rear ended.
I am an able to open the back trunk and there’s no secondary way to open it if I would need to get in or out. Also the doors randomly lock.
I have owned my Honda CRV for only 8 days. I have had three instances where my auto-braking has activated when it was not necessary. I have placed my stopping distance for my auto-braking at "short", to hopefully avoid unnecessary braking after the first incident occurred. Two of the incidents occurred when the vehicle ahead of me was turning right at an intersection in town at slow rates of speed. In both cases, I was not close to the vehicle, but my vehicle braked suddenly as if a collision was imminent. In one of those incidents, the vehicle ahead of me had turned and I was starting to accelerate when the emergency braking activated. It totally surprised me since there was no vehicle in front of me at that time. The third incident the automatic braking activated for just a split second and went off when there was a vehicle at least 50 feet in front of my vehicle and we were traveling straight down a city road at less than 30 miles per hour. It is a little unnerving at the moment the vehicle does automatic braking when there is no apparent reason for it.
Purchased my vehicle November/December of 2019. I have had multiple occasions of my vehicle automatically braking for no reason what-so-ever. I've been in clear path of travel and it just brake. I have reported this to the Honda of Gallatin, TN on multiple occasions. I had to have radar system replaced with in a couple of weeks of owning the vehicle. And had to have some thing else replaced about a month ago because all my brake warning systems came on. On that occasion it didn't cause the brakes to come on but it's an uneasy feeling to drive with brake system warning on everything. The emergency braking has happen multiple times i'll do better in keeping track of those going forward
My car will run normally with all the safety equipment turned on. Sometimes, when I switch lanes, the car will brake and slow down possibly 10 miles per hour and cause a dangerous situation on a highway or expressway. It happens mainly when I'm on a highway and traveling at normal speed and will make the traffic behind me come closer to my car as if I'm braking. When this happens, there aren't any cars near me neither in front and to my sides. This happens about once every 2 weeks of highway travel and also when merging from an entrance ramp. 02/23/2022 while driving down interstate sunroof glass suddenly exploded for no known reason. I see this is more common than I first thought. Hope the auto industry will be forced if necessary to make changes to correct the ongoing problem
On 22 Feb 22 while exiting the highway to a service plaza, the Automatic Emergency Braking System slammed on the brakes in our 2019 CR-V. Fortunately, no one was close behind us. I recall that the Lane Departure Warning system activated and then the brakes slammed on. The braking system fault has also occured 5 or 6 times when making a 90 degree turn from a stop light to another street and there was no one directly in front of us. We have owned the car for 3 years and are happy with the vehicle and safety features, but this fault is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed.
Periodically my vehicle will abruptly slow down, propelling myself/passenger forward. I would examine the area and there is nothing moving that should have triggered it. There are no identifying factors involved, (day/night/wet/dry), it may occur at any time. I have mentioned it to the Honda service department at my local dealership. They say it will happen sometimes.
Automatic braking occurs when driving for no apparent reason. This has happened multiple times usually when driving on the highway at high speed.
I was driving through an intersection at about 25 MPH with no car or obstructions in front of me when my Collision Mitigation Braking System inappropriately engaged and brought me to a screeching stop in the middle of the intersection. I am very lucky that no one behind me rear-ended me. My wife was wife me in the passenger seat and confirmed that there were no obstructions in the path of out vehicle. We were traveling straight through the intersection, no turning. My "Brake" light was flashing, the car was beeping and the brake pedal depressed itself firmly until the car stopped. This happened on 2/20/22 and I brought the car to the dealer (North City Honda) on 2/22/22 and they found nothing wrong with the car. When I first purchased this car in 2019, I was on the highway going 70mph with nothing in front of me and the same thing happened with the collision mitigation braking system inappropriately engaging but it lasted only about a second and disengaged. The "brake" light was flashing, the car was beeping and the brake pedal automatically depressed. Again, there was no car or other obstruction in front of me. Both of these episodes have scared the heck out of me, and I'm very lucky nothing bad happened with either.
The vehicle will be running at a certain speed then will just start braking like a car is in front but there isnt. It has done it several times. Sometimes it brakes hard and sometimes not. It is scary and worries you about being rear ended. It will slow you down then take off again.
This has happened 3 different times in the last 4 months, I have been driving down the road and the brake button pops up and slows me down when nothing is around, called dealership they said nothing wrong with vehicle. It's even done it in a curve and scared me had a vehicle behind me almost caused an accident
The vehicle’s automatic braking system flashes the warning and slams on the brakes when there is nothing in front of the car. It is an intermittent problem that happens mostly when the weather is clear and dry. This has nearly caused an accident on occasion since it’s happened when traveling at both lower and higher speeds.
When driving on the interstate with assisted cruise control and lane assist, my car has twice braked very hard when no hazards were in sight. Once, it almost came to a complete stop and had the car behind me been closer their would have been an accident - this was summer of 2021. The second time, it braked, I turned off cruise and tapped the brake and it corrected itself. In both cases, this could have been a very dangerous situation that put myself and others at risk. I thought it was happening because my windshield had been replaced and recalibrated. I had that checked twice and they found no issue with the calibration. I realized it could be a greater issue when I saw the news report on investigation of this happening on other 2019 Honda CRV's. I have not taken it to the shop yet. There were no prior warnings.
