THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THE 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY AND AFTER A REPAIR IN 5/2007, HONDA REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND ANY WARRANTY. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. *TR

THIS VEHICLE HAS ENCOUNTERED NUMEROUS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE WE ACQUIRED IT IN 2006. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT JUST OVER 100,000 MILES. AFTER A HUGE FIGHT WITH HONDA THEY RELUCTANTLY AGREED (BECAUSE IT WAS JUST OUTSIDE OF THE "WARRANTY EXTENSION" FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT) TO PAY HALF THE COST OF THE REPAIR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO COME ON, IN ADDITION TO OTHER ISSUES, INCLUDING EGR PROBLEMS, DESPITE REPLACING THE EGR, ETC. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT APPROXIMATELY 165,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AGAIN!! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, HALF OF THE LATCH ON THE DOOR HANDLE FELL OUT OF THE SOCKET HOUSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE LEFT SLIDING DOOR WAS BEING USED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR LOCK ALSO DID NOT LATCH CORRECTLY. 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION FAILURE, APPROXIMATELY THE 3RD FAILURE SINCE PURCHASED IN 2005 OR EARLY 2006. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILS, THE VAN DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL AND WITHOUT WARNING. MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE ONCE STRANDED IN A BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN GOD INTERVENED AND GAVE HER JUST ENOUGH POWER TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE SHE WAS TOWED FROM. JANUARY 2ND AT 2AM THE TRANNY WENT OUT ON HIGHWAY 80 AND MY WIFE THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. IT WAS THE TRANNY. AND MY 4 YOUNGEST CHILDREN WAS WITH HER. *TR
ON 12/22/09, THE COMPUTER CONTROLLED THROTTLE MOTOR WAS REPLACED ON MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VAN WOULD NOT SLOW WHEN YOU REMOVED YOUR FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED 3 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME IT FAILED I REPLACED IT AT THE DEALER. THE SECOND TIME IT FAILED IT WAS REPLACED AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP (ABOUT 1YEAR 3 MONTHS AGO) THIS IS THE THIRD TIME, I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND THEY ALL SAID ITS THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. IT SEEMS THAT IT WORKS FOR 1 YEAR AND THE IT FAILS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT SHIFTING INTO PARK; THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED BACKWARDS ON HER HUSBAND WHO SUFFERED A FRACTURED ANKLE. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE 2ND ROW CAPTAIN SEAT IN MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY CAME OFF THE FLOOR AND CAN'T BE SECURED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND HIT THE GARAGE DOOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NEVER SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK WHEN SHE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE LOCK IN THE IGNITION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE DROVE IN HER GARAGE, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN SHE STOPPED, SHE TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK IN THE GARAGE DOOR THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK EVEN THOUGH THE KEYS WERE IN HER HAND. UPDATED 10/26/10
I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY AND IT IS HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS DETECTED BY THE ERROR CODE SHOWN BY THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON OFTEN , SOMETIMES THE TCS LIGHT IS COMING ON. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IN 126000, BUT THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN WHEN IT WAS 115,000 MILES. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HONDA REPLACED TRANSMISSION UNDER CLASS ACTION EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2009, BUT I HAD TO PAY $1,200. NOW IN OCTOBER 2013, AND JUST 46,000 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AGAIN. HONDA IS REFUSING TO HELP WITH IT CITING THAT THE "VEHICLE IS TOO OLD." MY RESPONSE TO THEM WAS, IF THE REPAIR IN 2009 WAS DONE CORRECTLY THEN I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM TODAY REGARDLESS OF HOW OLD OR HOW MANY MILES THE VEHICLE HAS. HONDA IS WASHING THEIR HANDS OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND ANY REPAIR NOW IS 100% MINE, WHICH UNFORTUNATELY COSTS AS MUCH AS THE VEHICLE MIGHT BE WORTH. THAT IS NOT RIGHT THAT HONDA TEASED SO MANY CUSTOMERS IN TO THINKING THEY WERE GETTING A SOLID REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY ONLY TO FIND OUT IT LASTS JUST LONG ENOUGH SO THEY CAN AVOID FURTHER RESPONSIBILITY. NOT COOL HONDA! OUR CHILDREN ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW AS THEY AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD LOCK UP ON THEM AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I CAN'T SAY I BLAME THEM. I EXPECTED MORE FROM HONDA. *TR
HAD TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY REPLACED ON 2007 BECAUSE IT HAD GONE SOUTH. NOW 2 YEARS LATER THE REPLACEMENT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. THEY OFFERED 50% AS APPARENTLY THE "NEW" TRANSMISSION HAD ALL OF A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON IT. THE ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT WAS NO CHARGE, BUT SAYS NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT WARRANTY ON THE PAPERWORK. ONLY WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER DID WE FIND OUT APPARENTLY IT WAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THE GUY AT THE SERVICE COUNTER TOLD ME "IF A CUSTOMER PAYS ANY MONEY FOR THE REPLACEMENT, IT IS A 3 YEAR/36000 MILE WARRANT. IF IT'S FREE, IT'S A ONE YEAR WARRANTY". TALKED TO THE 800-999-1009 NUMBER AND THE PHONE REP, WHILE POLITE, WAS DEFENSIVE AND AVOIDED HONDA TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. SAID 50% WAS "MORE THAN FAIR" AND "ABOVE AND BEYOND THEIR RESPONSIBILITY", EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT HAD CRAPPED OUT AFTER JUST 2 YEARS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE SECOND GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED IN APRIL OF 2005 FOR AN IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD BE REBUILT AT AN EXPENSE OF $2500.00. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,100.
WE BOUGHT A USED HONDA ODYSSEY 2000 VAN WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES. THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK METICULOUS CARE OF THE VAN AND HAD IT MAINTAINED REGULARLY WHICH IS WHY WE WERE SURPRISED AT 67,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT. I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN THE GEARS STARTED SLIPPING. I WAS IN A 50 MILE PER HOUR ZONE WHEN THE GEARS WOULDN'T SHIFT AND I WAS STUCK IN THIRD GEAR. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE LED TO A SERIOUS CRASH. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A VERY NARROW SHOULDER. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS, I FOUND THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH HONDA VANS. WE INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE OUTSIDE OF THE 93 MONTH PARAMETER. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THEREFORE DID NOT NEED TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY (SERVICE BULLETIN 02-062). WE WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY $3500 FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED NO MATTER THE TIME FRAME. IF IT IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION, THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS PRODUCT. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE HAD I LIVED IN A BIG CITY AND EXPERIENCED THESE PROBLEMS ON A FREEWAY. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!! *TR
DRIVING HOME ON HUNTINGTON DRIVE, 40 MPH, AT 5 P.M., I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE ENGINE JUST REVVED AND I WENT NOWHERE. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN, AND MY VAN "JUMPED" FORWARD. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT REAR-ENDED AND THE DRIVERS ALLOWED ME TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT, WITH MY EMERGENCY BLINKERS, NOW ON. ALSO, NO BIKERS WERE ALONG SIDE ME! I STOPPED THE CAR AND PARKED. MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS NORMAL. I STARTED THE CAR, GINGERLY WENT A BLOCK WHEN IT TOTALLY DIED. I WAITED FOR 3 HOURS, AAA SYSTEM HAD LINES DOWN FOR SOME REASON, AND A SO. PASADENA TOW TRUCK CAME TO THE RESCUE. I WAS THEN TOWED TO HORIZON HONDA, THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS...COMMUNICATION WITH HONDA AND HORIZON TO GET APPROVAL FOR ANOTHER TRANSMISSION...TOOK AWHILE! LUCKILY,I WAS 6 MONTHS OR 300 MILES AWAY FROM THE 3 YEAR OR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY, SO THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FOR FREE! ALL I AM ASKING IS THE SAME WARRANTY ON THIS TRANSMISSION. HONDA IS NOT OFFERING ONE. I WILL WRITE, CALL, COMPLAIN, ETC., UNTIL I GET ONE! DOES HONDA NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR TRANSMISSIONS? I WILL BE IN NEED OF A CAR SOON... *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH A FEW FAILURES TO CLOSE COMPLETELY BUT EVENTUALLY IT DID CLOSE PROPERLY. HONDA SERVICE SAID IT REQUIRED A NEW MOTOR (COST $600 CDN), BUT MANAGED TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY AND SHOWED US HOW TO SHUT OFF THE "BEEPING". WE HAVE AVOIDED USING THAT DOOR, BUT THIS WEEKEND A FRIEND OPENED IT AND WE COULD NOT SHUT IT PROPERLY. WE HAD A 6-HOUR DRIVE HOME FROM THE COTTAGE. SEVERAL TIMES ON THE WAY HOME THE DOOR SLID OPEN WHEN MAKING A TURN. I MANAGED (FROM THE FRONT SEAT) TO PULL THE DOOR BACK TO ALMOST CLOSED. WE HAVE NOW TAKEN IT BACK TO HONDA -- THE COST TO FIX WILL BE ABOUT $600. FOR SAFETY REASONS, THERE SHOULD BE A MANUAL OVERRIDE TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED. *TR
THIS IS THE 2ND TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON MY 2000 ODYSSEY, IT WAS SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON A 65 MPH HIGHWAY AS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND SHIFTED DOWN GEARS. THE CHECK ENGINE AND TCS LIGHTS ARE ON. THE FAILURE CODE WAS READ AS P0740 IN A DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE CAR MAY SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN OR SPEED UP OR COMPLETE STOP IN THE TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY PREDICTION FROM THE DRIVER. IT'S NOT ONLY VERY DANGEROUS TO ODYSSEY DRIVER AND PASSENGERS BUT ALSO TO THE OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. MY 2000 ODYSSEY GOT 2 TRANSMISSIONS FAILED ALREADY. I DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE ON THE 3RD ONE. IN NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINT DATA BASE YOU HAVE SO MANY SIMILAR REPORTS ALREADY. NHTSA CANNOT ALLOW THIS SITUATION CONTINUES AND SO MANY DANGEROUS ODYSSEY VANS RUNNING WITH DANGEROUS TRANSMISSIONS. HONDA ONCE RECALLED SOME MODEL YEARS ODYSSEY BUT NOT ALL PROBLEMATIC YEARS. WHY THIS HAPPENED? ON THE INTERNET CAR COMMUNITIES LIKE EDMOUND.COM AND ODYCLUB.COM, MANY CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS DANGEROUS NOW. IT MAY BE THE HIGH MILEAGES OF THE CARS LED TO HIGH RATE OF FAILURES. HONDA SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE ANY REAL FATAL ACCIDENT HAPPENS. *TR
HAZY HEADLAMPS. THIS IS A QUOTE FROM POPULAR MECHANICS THAT DESCRIBES MY PROBLEM BETTER THAN I COULD: "MOST CARS AND A LOT OF TRUCKS TODAY ARE MANUFACTURED WITH HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES THAT USE QUARTZ-HALOGEN BULBS PLUGGED INTO THE BACK OF A LARGE PLASTIC REFLECTOR. THE OUTER SURFACE OF THESE HEADLAMP MODULES IS MOLDED POLYCARBONATE PLASTIC. THAT PLASTIC IS MUCH LIGHTER THAN GLASS AND FAR MORE RESISTANT TO STONE CHIPS AND CRACKS. HOWEVER, AFTER A FEW YEARS OF EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT AND ATMOSPHERIC CHEMICALS, POLYCARBONATE HAS A TENDENCY TO GET HAZY." RECENTLY I THOUGHT ONE OF MY HEADLAMPS HAD GONE OUT ON MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. TURNED OUT THE PLASTIC HEADLAMP COVER IS WAS JUST A TOTAL HAZE & MESS AND REALLY KNOCKING DOWN THE LAMP LIGHT. I SUSPECT THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT FROM MY HEADLIGHT IS DIMINISHED BY AT LEAST 50 PERCENT, MAYBE MORE. LOOKING AT OTHER VARIOUS OTHER CARS ON A TRIP THROUGH A PARKING LOT SHOWS TONS OF OTHERS WITH IDENTICAL PROBLEMS. NOT A HARD PROBLEM TO CONFIRM. SO MY QUESTION IS: WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT PERMIT CAR MAKERS TO USE PLASTIC FOR HEADLAMP COVERS WHEN EVERY SINGLE CAR WILL, IN TIME, HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISHED HEADLIGHT OUTPUT AS A RESULT OF THIS HAZY BUSINESS? SEEMS WE'RE PUTTING EVERYBODY AT RISK JUST TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE SIMPLE, RATIONAL, INTELLIGENT SOLUTION SEEMS TO GO BACK TO REQUIRING GLASS HEADLAMP COVERS. ELECTRIC BACK DOORS ARE INCONSISTENT WITH EITHER NOT OPENING/SHUTTING ALL THE WAY. SOMETIMES WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. NOT SAFE WITH CHILDREN/PERSONS IN BACKSEATS FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. HONDA REPAIRED ONCE WHEN UNDER CERTIFIED WARRANTY. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER. VEHICLE NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND HONDA DEALER IS CHARGING ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNT TO REPAIR. I DRIVE A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. IT HAS 79,000 MI ON IT. IT JOGS WHEN I PUT IT INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE. AND IT SLIPS WHEN DRIVING , FROM 1ST GEAR GOING INTO 2ND. AND JOGS WHEN PUSHING ACCELERATOR. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT WILL SLIP WHEN DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY. THE DEALER WILL NOT LOOK INTO, WITHOUT CHARGING OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT BECAUSE OUR WARRANTY IS LNG OVER. I'M WRITING TO YOU TO INFORM YOU ABOUT THE SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PUT INTO HONDA ODYSSEY'S FROM 2000-2003. FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF. MY NAME IS HOANG PHAM AND MY FAMILY OWNS AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP IN ARLINGTON, VA AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOYAL CUSTOMERS TO AMERICAN HONDA AND THEIR VEHICLES, ALWAYS HAVE RECOMMENDED THEIR PRODUCT TO CUSTOMERS LOOKING TO PURCHASE NEW VEHICLES SINCE WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR PRODUCTS. I'VE ALWAYS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS AND HOW THEY HAVE ACCORDING TO THEM "KNOWN DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND WORKSMANSHIP." I AM WRITING TO YOU NOW TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT GETTING REPAIRED AND HAVING THE "UPDATED" TRANSMISSION INSTALLED, MY VEHICLE NOW SITS WITH ONLY 79000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HONDA REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF ANY ISSUES, I OBVIOUSLY CAN REPAIR THIS VEHICLE MYSELF BUT FIND IT HARD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT A MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGES AS A DEFECT. I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE HAD A 109,000 MILES OR 7 YEARS AND 9 MONTHS WARRANTY EXTENSION ON IT BUT I BELIEVE THAT IS NOT ENOUGH. PEOPLE WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IF THIS IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF PROPERLY, LUCKILY FOR ME MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT AT HIGHWAY SPEED GOING 60-65 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING - TOOK IT TO DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED AND SERVICES. THEY CHANGED FLUID, FILTERS ETC. THE PROBLEM WAS WORSE AFTER THEY DID THAT. *TR
WE HAVE A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. HONDA REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER RECALL AT ABOUT 68,0000 MILES, AND IT WAS REPLACED BEFORE WE NOTICED ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. WE WERE OUTSIDE THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY THEY HAD GIVEN US ON THE REPLACEMENT WHEN WE STARTING NOTICING THE TRANSMISSION SLIP. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY WHEN WE TOOK IT IN, TELLING US REPAIR COST WOULD BE $4500. AT ABOUT 130,0000 MILES, THE REPLACED TRANSMISSION ACTUALLY FAILED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A TRIP OUT OF TOWN. AFTER IT FAILED, WE PAID SOMEONE ELSE TO REPAIR IT, CAUSING US OVER 3500 IN TOWING, REPAIR AND RENTAL CAR COSTS. WE WERE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A ROAD WITH A FAMILY OF 4 IN THE 105 DEGREE TEXAS HEAT UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO GET ASSISTANCE. *TR
I OWN A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. MY WIFE (51 YRS OLD) WAS DRIVING IT ON RT 1 IN NEW JERSEY AND WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE ENGINE REVVED BUT WOULDN'T MOVE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED MOVING. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES. IT ALSO NOW SHIFTS GEARS FROM 1ST TO @ND GEAR AT 3000 RPM'S.I TOOK THE VAN TO MY MECHANIC AND HE PUT THE OBDII CODE READER ON THE CAR AND GOT A P1740 CODE WHICH MEANS THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILED. THE VAN HAS 93,000 MILES ON IT. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA ABOUT THIS AND THEY DID A SEARCH ON MY VIN # AND TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS CHANGED AR 53,540 MILES AT HUNTINGTON HONDA IN HUNTINGTON, LONG ISLAND, NY, SO THE 2ND TRANSMISSION ONLY LASTED 40,000MILES. THE DEALER WANTS 3000.00 DOLLARS FOR A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION WITH A 1 YEAR 12,000 MILES WARRANTY. I DON'T TRUST CAR DEALERS SO I'M LETTING MY HONDA MECHANIC DO IT(HE HAS BEEN FIXING HONDA FOR 25 YEARS). READING MANY HONDA ODYSSEY FORUMS ON LINE APPARENTLY THERE'S A DESIGN FLAW AND HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF IT AS YOUR ORGANIZATION IS PROBABLY AWARE AS WELL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. ON 5/25/09 I WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 125MPH; I WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH. ONCE HIT, I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR, IT JUMPED THE CURB, WENT INTO THE WOODS WHILE STILL MOVING. THE FRONT OF MY VAN THEN HIT A TREE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL FRONT END DAMAGE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SEAT BELT LOCKED PROPERLY EITHER. WHEN THE FRONT WAS HIT, BATTERY AND AIR FILTER AREA WAS BENT UPWARDS TOWARDS THE DASH AND BUMPER CAME OFF, ALONG WITH MAJOR WHEEL DAMAGE/BENDING ALONG WITH HOOD DAMAGE. INSIDE THE VAN UNDER STEERING WHEEL THE PANEL UNDERNEATH BENT INSIDE, FRONT PANEL NEAR RADIO FELL OFF WITH WIRES HANGING. THAT IS HOW HARD I WAS HIT FROM THE FRONT WITH THE TREE, ALONG WITH THE MAJOR FRONTAL DAMAGE. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAD BROKEN RIBS, BRUISED LUNGS, DEEP ABDOMINAL BLEEDING THAT CAUSED VERY DEEP RED BRUISING ON MY STOMACH, PELVIC REGION, AND VAGINAL AREA ALONG WITH SWELLING, FRACTURED BONE IN RIGHT FOOT, SWELLING ON LEFT FOOT, BRUISING AND KNOTTING ON LEGS, KNEES, DEEP GASH IN RIGHT SIDE, CUT ON LEFT FOOT, ETC. ALSO KNOT ON MY HEAD AND A CLOSED HEAD INJURY INCLUDING SPEECH PROBLEMS, AND BACK AND NECK INJURIES/PAIN. I AM STILL RECOVERING FROM THEM 12 WEEKS LATER AND GOING THROUGH PHYSICAL THERAPY. SOME BRUISING/KNOTTING ON MY LEG STILL NOT HEALED. I HAVE SEEN MANY HONDA ACCORDS HAVE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT PROBLEMS WITH SENSORS AND SEAT BELT SENSORS NOT WORKING, PERHAPS THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT OCCURRED WITH MY ODYSSEY. ABOUT HALF A YEAR AGO, ONE OF TWO FUTURA 2000 RADIAL LTE ON OUR HONDA ODYSSEY 2000 STARTED VIBRATING AT AROUND 35 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO A TIRE SHOP TO HAVE THE TIRE INSPECTED. THE TIRE WAS REBALANCED AND ALL FOUR WHEELS ALIGNED. THE VIBRATION CONTINUED UNTIL I MOVED THE TIRE FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR A COUPLE DAYS LATER. YESTERDAY, ALMOST AT THE END OF A 1000 MILE TRIP, VIBRATIONS RE-EMERGED AND GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE. CHECKING THE SIDE MIRROR I COULD SEE THE TIRE MATERIAL WOBBLING. WE PULLED OVER TO PUT ON THE SPARE TIRE. AT THAT TIME I NOTICED THAT ABOUT A 10 INCH STRIP OF TREAD HAD SEPARATED. *TR
JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE TODAY. DRIVING 70 MPH ON FREEWAY, KNEE RESTING ON BOTTOM OF STEERING COLUMN, SUDDENLY VEHICLE DASH GOES BLANK, ENGINE POWERS OFF, RADIO CONTINUES PLAYING. WHEN DRIVING CAR WOULD SUDDENLY PULL HARD TO RIGHT. NOISE CONTINUED AND NEXT DAY REPAIR SHOP INFORMED THAT RIGHT COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND WE WERE LUCKY IT DIDN'T PUNCTURE TIRE. THEY CUT A PORTION OF THE SPRING AWAY TO KEEP SPRING FROM CAUSING BLOWOUT. NOT REPAIRED AS COST PROHIBITIVE. *TR
