DEAR SIR/MADAM: I AM AN ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY, AND ONE OF MANY VICTIMS OF HONDA TRANSMISSION FAULTY TRANSMISSION. A TRANSMISSION RECALL WAS PERFORMED AT 20, 398 MILES IN JULY 2004. IN THAT RECALL, HONDA STATED THAT CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS CAN RESULT IN HEAT BUILD-UP BETWEEN THE COUNTER SHAFT AND SECONDARY SHAFT SECOND GEARS. THAT COULD LEAD TO GEAR TOOTH CHIPPING OR, IN VERY RARE CASES, GEAR BREAKAGE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD LOCK UP, INCREASING THE CHANCE OF A CRASH. INSTEAD OF REPLACE THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED ON MY ODYSSEY, A HONDA DEALER INSTALLED A LINE JET KIT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL LUBRICATION TO THE GEARS. IN JUNE 2014, MY VAN STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 93,128 MILES. THE SECOND GEAR IS VERY HARD TO SHIFT AND SLIPPED EVEN LOCKED FROM TIME TO TIME. IN TWO OF THE CASES, A REAR COLLISION ALMOST OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. AFTER I CONSULTED TWO HONDA DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED. I PAID $3,000 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. HONDA DENIED THE RESPONSIBILITY, BUT ONLY OFFERED 25% FOR THE TOTAL REPLACEMENT COST OF NEARLY $6,000. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND THE 2004 TRANSMISSION RECALL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I REQUEST N.H.T.S.A. INVESTIGATE WHETHER HONDA'S 2004 RECALL IS A TEMPORARY FIX OF THE PROBLEM AND STILL PUT THE DRIVER AT RISK, AND WHETHER THE RECALL HAVE SOLVED A SAFETY PROBLEM. I AM VERY SURE THAT I AM ONE OF HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS VICTIM OF HONDA FAULTY TRANSMISSION. PLEASE START THE INVESTIGATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTH CONCERNS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I AM AN ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 03 ODYSSEY. PERFECT MAINTENANCE RECORD. CAREFULLY DRIVING AND NEVER TOW ANYTHING. TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP AND LOCK UP AROUND 93K MILES WITHOUT WARNING. CRASH ALMOST OCCURRED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY TWICE. HAVE TWO DEALER CHECKED UP AND BOTH SAID NEED A REPLACEMENT. CALL HONDA AND GOT VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HONDA DENIED RESPONSIBILITY, BUT OFFERED 25% REPLACEMENT COST. 02-04 ODYSSEY HAD TRANSMISSION RECALL IN 04. MY VAN WAS OVER 20K AND ONLY GOT AN OIL INJET KITS INSTALLED. I BELIEVED THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION HAS ALREADY BEEN DAMAGED AT THAT TIME. THE RECALL IS A SCAM FROM HONDA TO CHEAT, TO DELAY THE PROBLEM AND TO SAVE COST. EVERYONE KNOWS AN OIL INJET KITS COSTS A FRACTION OF A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS IS THE SAME KIND OF SCAM AS ANOTHER JAPANESE PRODUCT, TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. MY VAN ALSO EQUIPPED WITH TAKATA FAULTY AIRBAGS. I REQUESTED AIRBAG REPLACEMENT THROUGH A HONDA DEALER TWO MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE ORDERED, BUT HAVE TO WAIT. DRIVING A HONDA PRODUCT EVERYDAY TO SENT MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND AIRBAGS, I HAVE HIGHER RISK TO BE KILLED OR INJURED BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL AND RESULT IN CLASH, AND THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY AND KILL OR INJURED MYSELF AND DAUGHTER. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! I JUST GOT MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH $3K OUT OF MY POCKETS. I SENT THE INVOICE TO HONDA CEO 3 TIMES TO REQUEST FULL IMBURSEMENT AND WAS DENIED.HONDA HAS THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS FAULTY PRODUCTS. I REQUEST A FULL INVESTIGATION ON HONDA'S HANDLING ON ITS RECALLS. *TR
PLEASE HAVE ONE OF YOUR INVESTIGATORS' TO LOOK INTO THIS: TAKE A LOOK ON THE INTERNET YOU WILL FIND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ( ONLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF HONDA OWNERS', VANS & SEDANS ON THE ROAD WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING) 2003 HONDA TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND & 3RD GEARS - ALL THE OWNERS' COMPLAINTS ARE IDENTICAL. UNEXPECTEDLY, THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL ACCELERATION POWER, A VERY DANGEROUS & SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT, HAZARD AS THE DRIVER LOSES CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE & ACCELERATION. RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING IN OUR MODEL YEAR 2003 AND FROM MANY HONDA AND ACURA SEDAN OWNERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM: ALL HAVE THE V-TECH ENGINE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THOUSANDS OF HONDA & ACURA DRIVERS ON THE ROAD -A MOTHER'S WITH A VAN FULL OF CHILDREN OR REALLY ANY DRIVER TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON A BUSY ROAD FROM A DEAD STOP. A DRIVER LOSES CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE SPEED UNEXPECTEDLY COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, EVEN DEATH. HONDA DEALERS ARE HITTING CUSTOMERS' FOR $4000.00 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALL, REPLACING THE SAME MALFUNCTIONING ONE THAT WAS IN THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY, NOT REIMBURSING OWNERS' FOR THE VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL. HONDA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS SERIOUS & DANGEROUS SAFETY DEFECT WHICH THEY IGNORED, HID, KEPT INSTALLING THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS WHEN IT WAS WELL KNOWN TO HONDA INSIDERS' THAT THEY HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM - THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM OCCURRING FOR YEARS & DID NOTHING. THEY NEED TO BE FORCED TO FIX THE HONDA TRANSMISSIONS AFFECTED AT NO COST TO THE THEIR CUSTOMERS' . HONDA REFUSED TO RE-MANUFACTURE, RE-ENGINEER THE TRANSMISSION OR REIMBURSE OWNERS' FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL ($4000.). IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL YET! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
112,000 MILES ODYSSEY EX TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING 4/18/14 AND VAN COULD NOT GO FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT. AFTER COOLING, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A LITTLE TO GET OFF THE MAIN ROAD. CALLED FOR TOW TRUCK TO A-1 TRANSMISSIONS IN HAWTHORNE, CA. I HAVE AVOIDED DEALER SERVICING SINCE BUYING THE VAN NEW IN 2003. I INSTALLED A MAGNAFINE FILTER IN THE TRANS COOLING LINE AND CHANGED IT THREE TIMES. I DRAINED AND FILLED THE TRANS MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS WITH HONDA FLUID AND KEPT TRANSMISSION FLUID CLEAN. I HAD THE HONDA RECALL LUBRICATING TRANNY GEAR DONE AS WELL AS ANY OTHER HONDA RECALLS BUT NO OTHER TRANSMISSION RECALL. NO PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES UNTIL THE OTHER DAY. I DIDN'T TRY TO GET ATTENTION FROM DEALER BECAUSE EVEN WITH 25% OFF IT WOULD STILL BE A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS TO THEM. THIS MODEL HONDA HAS A HISTORY OF FAILED TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS AND RADIO FAILED. THE CONTACT CHANGED THE FUSE APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES BUT THE FUSE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DECLINED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,703. UPDATED 06/10/14 MA
I BROUGHT MY ODYSSEY TO THE HONDA DEALER FOR AN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE ON 4/3/2014. WHILE THERE, THE SERVICE ADVISOR, [XXX], INFORMED ME THAT MY MOTOR MOUNTS WERE FAILING. WHEN I QUESTIONED THAT THIS SOUNDED LIKE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL, HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY REPLACE SO MANY MOTOR MOUNTS THAT THEY ALWAYS KEEP A GOOD SUPPLY IN STOCK. THIS WOULD SEEM TO STRENGTHEN MY POSITION, NOT HIS. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
MY FATHER JUST HAD EXITED THE HIGHWAY (GOING 70 MPH) AND 10 SECONDS LATER AFTER TAKING THE EXIT, HE HEARD A LOUD BANG (DESCRIBED AS AN EXPLOSION) AND ALL THE AIRBAGS IN OUR HONDA ODYSSEY 2003 MODEL DEPLOYED. THERE WAS SMOKE AND HE COULD NOT SEE. HIS ARM WAS INJURED AND BRUISED IN THIS PROCESS. SINCE THIS WAS A MAJOR CROSS-SECTION AT AN OVERPASS ABOVE THE HIGHWAY, HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND GOT OFF THE CAR. THERE WERE TONS OF CARS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE OTHER DRIVERS STARTED HONKING SINCE HE WAS RIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION WHILE TURNING LEFT. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A MAJOR INTERSECTION! IF HIS AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED JUST 10 SECONDS EARLIER, WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE CAR: HONDA HAD RECALLED THIS CAR SO MY DAD HAD BROUGHT IT IN TO THEIR SHOWROOM. HONDA HAD THEN SAID EVERYTHING WAS OKAY! HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED IF EVERYTHING WAS OKAY? THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! MY DAD IS NOW TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE WHO KNOWS IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. AFTER THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, TRIPLE A BROUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA'S SHOWROOM. HONDA THEN HAD THE AUDACITY OF ACCUSING MY FATHER OF "MAYBE GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT OR REAR ENDING SOMEONE." THEY THEN WENT ON TO CHARGE MY DAD MONEY TO EVEN RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS OF THE CAR. WHY WOULD HE LIE? CLEARLY HIS ARM IS BRUISED AND THIS IS AN HONEST MAN! AGAIN, THIS WAS A RECALLED CAR AND THIS CAR PUT MY DAD AND OTHER DRIVERS IN HARM'S WAY. HONDA REFUSES TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS WAS THEIR FAULT. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE, HONDA AND OTHER CAR COMPANIES CANNOT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS. POOR CONSUMERS BUY THEIR PRODUCTS BECAUSE WE TRUST THEM (WE OWN TWO HONDAS, INCLUDING ME!). NOW EVEN I AM TERRIFIED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ME AND MY HONDA CIVIC. *TR
THE VAN STARTED LOSING POWER RIGHT AFTER THE TCS LIGHT APPEARED. I SLOWED DOWN TO 45MPH WHEN I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CAR IS REPORTED TO HAVE BROKEN GEARS AND THE CLUTCH IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT HAD A RECALL ON IT THAT REPORTED IT FIXED. *TR
2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. *MW THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE INTERLOCK RECALL, THE PROBLEM WOULD BE RESOLVED. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. DRIVING CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AT 20 MPH,DRIVER SEAT BELT LOCKED WITH A POP AND WOULD NOT LET YOU MOVE FORWARD,PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKED WITH A POP AND WOULD NOT LET YOU MOVE,ABOUT 5 TO 10 SECS LATER LOUD BANG AND FRONT PASSENGER BAG DEPLOYED ANOTHER 5 TO 10 SECS LATER ANOTHER LOUD BANG FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG AREA. SRS LIGHT CAME ON,SEAT BELTS STILL LOCKED WILL NOT MOVE IN OR OUT. DRIVER AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED. DROVE VEHICLE TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER. *TR
EVIDENTLY, THE 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS PART OF A MASSIVE HONDA RECALL AND CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT DUE TO FAILING TRANSMISSIONS. WHEN WE PURCHASED OUR ODYSSEY, WE WERE NEVER INFORMED ON THIS ISSUE. OUR TRANSMISSION HAS SUDDENLY STARTED FAILING. IT WILL SLIP INTO NEUTRAL OR A LOWER GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING 60 MPH; MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT 30-45 MPH; ON THE SECONDARY ROADS SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR OR 2ND-3RD GEAR. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, THE CAR HAS NO POWER TO CONTINUE FORWARD AT THE SAME RATE OF SPEED. FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, THIS IN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
DROVE MY 03 HONDA ODYSSEY ON A BRIDGE GOING TO WORK CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT A TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON CODE READ P0730 INCORRECT GEAR RATIO THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAYS AND BRIDGES THESE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE THESE COMMON PROBLEMS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED OR HONDA SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX THERE ORIGINAL MISTAKE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,722.
SRS LIGHT APPEARS. THE MINI-VAN WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE CENTER AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I NOTE THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE RECALLS RECALLS AND OTHER COMPONENTS. HOWEVER, HONDA REFUSES TO INCLUDE MY VAN IN THE RECALL. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION SHOULD INCLUDE ALL 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY IN THE RECALL. *TR
AT LOWER SPEEDS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GOES INTO NEUTRAL. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT REENGAGE UNLESS YOU PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENS DURING PERIODS FROM COMPLETELY STOPPED THRU 2ND GEAR. ONCE PAST 2ND GEAR SHIFTING PATTERNS ARE ALWAYS NORMAL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR, YET THE TRANSMISSION STILL CONTINUES TO OPERATE, (IE..NOT COMPLETELY FAILED YET) I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR MODEL (RECALL# 12V-573) HOWEVER MY DEALER SAYS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. I FEEL SINCE THIS IS A DAILY DRIVER, THAT THE MALFUNCTION OF TRANSMISSION WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENS DURING INITIAL ACCELERATION. I BELIEVE THAT IF THIS WAS NOT A DEFECT, THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED LONG AGO. I MERELY THINK HONDA SHOULD MAKE CORRECTIONS AS STATED IN THEIR RECALL NOTICES. *TR
SERVICE SAFETY RECALL REGARDING SRS MALFUNCTION WAS PERFORMED ON MY VAN BY PAUL MILLER HONDA IN CALDWELL, NJ ON 12/21/2013. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, THE SRS MALFUNCTION LIGHT COMES ON AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING. NOTIFIED DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. AMERICAN HONDA OPENED A CASE FOR THIS, N012014-01-0200225. WAS ADVISED FOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT FROM THE DEALER. WENT BACK TO DEALER FOR TEST ON 1/4/14 AND A DTC CODE 53-31, INTERNAL FAILURE OF SRS UNIT, WAS CALLED OUT ON TEST. WANTS SRS UNIT REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. ADVISED BY DEALER THAT THIS NOT RELATED TO RECALL. THE RECALL WAS ADDING WIRES ON THE HARNESS WIRES SET TO THE SRS UNIT. I WAS ADVISED BY AMERICAN HONDA TO SEEK DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO OTHER DEALER. WENT TO GARDEN STATE HONDA IN PASSAIC, NJ ON 1/22/14 FOR A MORE THOROUGH TEST. THE DEALER INSIST ON REPLACING 2 YEAR BATTERY AS THIS MIGHT CAUSES DTC 53-31. CCA ON BATTERY WAS 450, RECOMMENDED IS 550. TOLD ADVISOR THAT CCA IS FOR COLD CRANKING/STARTING OF VAN AND IRRELEVANT TO THE PROBLEM AS LONG AS OUTPUT IS A SUSTAINED 12 VDC AND I DO NOT HAVE PROBLEM WHEN STARTING THE VAN. FORCED TO COMPLY AT MY OWN EXPENSE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH NEW BATTERY. ON 2/6/14 AND AFTER 3 TRIPS, DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF SRS UNIT ON MY OWN EXPENSE AND NOT RELATED TO RECALL LIKE THE FIRST DEALER. THE DEALER IS UNCERTAIN IF THIS WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUES. THIS WILL BE ELIMINATION PROCESS AT MY OWN EXPENSE. VAN HAS NEVER HAD ANY SRS FAULT FOR 10 YEARS. ONLY AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE WHEN SRS FAULT LIGHT COMES ON. NOW, SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS ARE COMPROMISED. AIR BAG MAY DEPLOY OR MAY NOT DEPLOY IF AND WHEN NEEDED. AMERICAN HONDA WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSES BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF DEALER. HONDA SHOULD SHOULDER ALL EXPENSES RELATED TO THE RESOLUTION OF THE SRS FAULT AND THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVER AND PASSENGER... UPDATED 02/27/14

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V412000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. LATER IN THE DAY, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER STATING THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH. THE DEALER STATED THEY WOULD INSTALL THE NEW SWITCH AT A COST OF $ 520. THE CONSUMER WAS SATISFIED WITH THE WORK. HOWEVER, HE OBJECTED TO BEING CHARGED FOR THE WORK, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTICE, IT EXPLICITLY STATED THE WORK WOULD BE PERFORMED AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. CAR WAS WORKING 100% NORMALLY WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. DRIVING ALONG ON ROAD TRYING TO MERGE ONTO HIGHWAY, CAR STUTTERED BADLY AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE! WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY AT ALL. I COULD NOT GET UP TO MOVING TRAFFIC SPEED! HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OFF TO SHOULDER AND LIMP WITH HAZARDS ON TO NEXT EXIT AND RETURN HOME! VERY TENSE MOMENTS! SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. WHEN WE HAD THIS CHECKED AT OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER, THELEN HONDA (BAY CITY, MI), WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SRS UNIT HAS AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $650 TO US. WE HAVE HAD ALL ROUTINE SERVICE COMPLETED AT THE HONDA DEALER SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VAN. RECENTLY, OUR 2002 HONDA CIVIC WAS RECALLED FOR AN AIRBAG DEFECT AND THIS WAS REMEDIATED AT THE SAME DEALER UNDER THE HONDA RECALL. THIS WOULD SEEM TO BE A COMPANY SYSTEMIC MANUFACTURING DEFECT WORTHY OF MANUFACTURER RECALL AND REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
