I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) Driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (Doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop Those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) A bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) The brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) The radio did not work and gave an "Error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. TIRES PRURCHASED FROM WALMART 10/6/18 WERE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AND THEY CHANGED THE MANUFACTURES CALIBRATION. THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON, I RETURNED THE VAN TO WALMART; THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I MADE FIVE VISITS. THE MANAGER DID NOT KNOW WHAT A TPMS SENSOR WAS; DID NOT HAVE ANY IN THE SHOP. I FREQUENTLY HAD THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE CHECKS. TWO WEEKS AGO, DRIVING THE VAN THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WOBBLY, I HAD THE AIR PRESSURE CHECKED AGAIN AND AGAIN. ON APRIL 15, 2021, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH WALMART AT THE MAIN OFFICE AND TOOK THE SUV TO THE HAMMOND, INDIANA CAR CENTER. AFTER HAGGLING WITH THE STAFF FO OVER 4 HOURS, THEY REPLACED THE TWO TIRE. THE PROBLEM OF THE WOBBLING TIRES HAD NOT BEEN SOLVED. ONLY THE WOBBLING WAS LESS NOTICEABLE. I MADE OVER 20 TELEPHONE CALLS TO THE CAR CENTER WITHOUT THE PHONE BEING ANSWERED. TODAY I FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH WALMART HEADQUARTERS.MARTHA, THE PERSON THAT TOOK THE COMPLAINT STATED THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY THE CAR CENTER. THIS CENTER SHOULD BE CLOSED; LIVES ARE AT STACK AND THE WORKERS ARE RUDE AND ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE TREAD ACT. I NEVER EXPERIENCED THE TPMS COMING ON UNTIL WALMART REPLACED MY TIRES. MY MECHANIC DRIVE THE SUV AND HIS OBSERVATION WAS "THE FRONT TIRES ARE OUT OF ROUND BY 1/4 INCH AND INNER SIDE WALL BULGING". HIS FIRST OBSERVATION WAS IN OCTOBER 2018, SHORTLY AFTER WALMART INSTALLED THE TIRES. ON 4/15/21, I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AND THEY GAVE NO INFORMATION ON TPMS . I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS SUV AD I BELIEVE THAT WALMART IS VIOLATING THE TREAD ACT. THEY RELUCTANTLY REPLACED THE TIRES, BUT EVEN WORSE THE TPMS LIGHT IS STILL ON. THERE WERE NO NOTIFICATIONS POSTED ON THE WALLS IN THAT CAR CENTER. IN ADDITION, MY SON RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES FOR HIS SUV FROM THIS SAME WALMART HE WAS NOT GIVEN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT TPMS SENSORS AND NONE WERE INSTALLED.

FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. SIDEWALL BLEW A LARGE SQUARE HOLE, SEPERATING FROM BEAD. TIRES HAD APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES ON THEM.
ALL FOUR TIRES FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO DRY ROT CRACKS IN THE TREAD ON MAY 15, 2017. TIRES WERE PURCHASED ON JUNE 5, 2012. TIRES WERE INSTALLED AT 45707 MILES, FAILURE NOTED AT 80010 MILES. COSTO TECHNICIAN CLAIMED FAILURE WAS DUE TO VEHICLE NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH. THIS SEEMS LIKE A HANDY EXCUSE AND VERY SUBJECTIVE. WHEN I ASKED THE GARAGE OWNER WHO DID THE INSPECTION IF THIS WAS A VALID REASON HIS RESPONSE WAS IT IS NOT AND SAID HE HAS SEEN A LOT OF THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IN MICHELIN TIRES IN THE PAST 6 TO 8 YEARS. TODAY 2/15/13 , WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING FROM AUSTIN TO HOUSTON AROUND 7:30 AM ON A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY MINI VAN A ONE OF FOUR TIRES EXPLODED. WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ON THE HIGHWAY IT JUST EXPLODED IN AN AREA CLOSE TO THE RIM. IT WAS A REAR TIRE. WE CALLED AAA TO COME TO HELP US AND LATER WE WENT TO 2 DIFFERENT GOODYEAR TIRE OUTLETS AND I NOTICED THAT ALL TIRES OF THESE KIND HAD BUBBLES ALL OVER THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIANS DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A SIDEWALL BLOWOUT. A GOODYEAR DEALER ALSO INSPECTED TIRE AND ADVISED THAT THE BLOW OUT WAS CAUSED BY A LOW PSI. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,065. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,500. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
GOING SOUTH ON HWY 5 FROM JUST OUTSIDE SACRAMENT, (BY FREEPORT) WE STRUCK SOMETHING NOT VISIBLE IN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WARNED US WE HAD A FLAT AND NOT TO EXCEED 50 MPH. OUR MINIVAN WAS EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN PAX SYSTEM RUN FLAT TIRES AND NO SPARE. WE PULLED OF THE HWY AT ELK GROVE AND CALLED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER. IT WAS ALMOST 5PM AND THEY SAID COULD NOT HELP UNTIL TUESDAY. THE MANUAL SAID WE COULD GO 125 MILES WITH A FLAT TIRE AND OUR HOME WAS LESS THAN 60 MILES AWAY SO WE PUT ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 50 MPH ON HWY 5, THEN HWY 12 WEST, AND THEN HWY 160 SOUTH. JUST NORTH OF THE ANTIOCH BRIDGE THE FRONT LEFT TIRE SHREDDED AND WE WERE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE FOR OVER AN HOUR UNTIL AAA PROVIDED ASSISTANCE. I CONTACTED MICHELIN AND HONDA ON TUESDAY FOLLOWING AND MICHELIN OFFERED TO PAY 30% OF THE COST OF A NEW TIRE BUT NOTHING TOWARDS THE COST OF REMOVING THE TIRE AND PUTTING A NEW ONE ON. HONDA OFFERED NOTHING. I REJECTED MICHELIN'S OFFER AND THEY RAISED IT TO 50 % AND I STILL REJECTED IT AND WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE STORE TO REPLACE ALL FOUR WHEELS AND TIRES BECAUSE WE FEEL THE RUN FLAT SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY TWO CHILDREN, THE TWO FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS OF MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY BROKE! ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR WAS NOT IN ANY SHAPE TO CONTINUE. *TR I TOOK MY HONDA TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER, HERB CHAMBERS HONDA IN SEEKONK MASSACHUSETTS. AT THAT TIME, THEY MENTIONED THAT A BROKEN WHEEL BEARING IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE WHEEL COULD LOCK UP OR COME COMPLETELY DISLODGED FROM THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, HE ASSURED ME THAT MY DRIVING DID NOT CAUSE THE BREAK AND THAT IS A CLEAR DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. STILL, BECAUSE THE CAR HAD 61,622 MILES, I WAS CHARGED 700.00 TO FIX THE BEARINGS. I AM ASKING NETS OFFICIALS TO INVESTIGATE HONDA FOR THE WHEEL BEARING FAILURES ON ALL HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVANS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: THOUSANDS IF NOT, MILLIONS EFFECTED - ACCORDING TO THOUSANDS OF HONDA OWNERS ON THE INTERNET WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, THE WHEEL BEARINGS BREAK ANYWHERE FROM 1200K (JUST OFF THE LOT) TO 75K. SAFETY ' WHEN YOU CONTINUE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH BAD BEARINGS, THE SYMPTOMS WILL WORSEN AND SAFETY RISKS INCREASE. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BECOME HARDER TO CONTROL. IF THIS HAPPENS, NAVIGATING AND STEERING WILL BE DIFFICULT. A WHEEL WILL BECOME LOOSE AND MOVE AROUND IN THE WHEEL ARCH, CAUSING DAMAGE TO HUB AND BRAKES. IF THE WHEEL REMAINS UNSTABLE, IT WILL EVENTUALLY DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. ABS ISSUES - WHEEL BEARINGS CONTAIN SENSORS THAT SEND A SIGNAL TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WHEN THE TIRES SPIN OR SKID. CONTINUING TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH BAD BEARINGS CAN CAUSE ITS ABS SYSTEM TO FAIL. WHEN BEARINGS ARE FAULTY, THE ABS SIGNAL LIGHT USUALLY APPEARS ON THE DASH INDICATING THE DISABLEMENT OF THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS GENERALLY DOES NOT CAUSE ANY INTERRUPTIONS IN REGULAR BRAKING; HOWEVER, IT WILL SUSPEND THE ABS SYSTEM'S AID IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS OR WHILE BRAKING ON WET OR SLIPPERY SURFACES.
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
GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS WAS VERY AUDIBLE IN THE CABIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN ONCE AND DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. SIX MONTHS LATER THE GRINDING NOISE GOT WORSE. TOOK IT IN A SECOND TIME AND THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE BAD. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 15K MILES SO IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH MICHELIN PAX TIRES, LINE SIZE P235/710/R460A 104 TM+S (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SKID ABNORMALLY DURING ANY TYPE OF WEATHER CLIMATE. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 6,000 MILES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRES MUST BE USED WITH A CERTAIN VEHICLE AND ANY OTHER TIRES WOULD NOT SUPPORT THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO STATED THAT IF SHE WERE TO DISMOUNT THE TIRES, IT WOULD VOID HER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE ALL SEASON BUT NOT MADE FOR DRIVING IN THE SNOW. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,910.
OWNER PURCHASED NEW SNOW TIRES, NEW WHEELS, AND NEW TPMS SENSORS. THE 2007 ODYSSEY DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE NEW SENSORS. THE COMPUTER CONTROLLER MEMORY ONLY HAS MEMORY FOR FOUR SENSORS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOES NOT STATE THIS LIMITATION. HONDA SHOULD SEND NOTICE OUT TO OWNERS STATING THAT THE WHEN PURCHASING NEW TPMS SENSORS MUST BE REPROGRAMMED AND/OR REPROGRAM THE CONTROLLER AT NO CHARGE WHEN NEEDED FOR SEASONAL TIRE CHANGES. *TR
