TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED IT EXTENDED AND FORCED HIS FOOT TO HAVE CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES TO WORK HE HAD APPLY PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL AND EXTEND IT TO THE FLOORBOARD WHICH CAUSED HIS FOOT TO HIT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE TO SURGE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LOW SPEEDS LESS THAN 10 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000. UPDATED 03/14/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE, IT TRAVELED LOWER THAN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN HE PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE, HE ALSO MADE CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. UPDATED 04/13/12
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES VIBRATION AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE COULD FELL THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHILE DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CONSUMER'S CONCERN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE JUDDER CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. THE DEALER THEN STATED THEY COULD REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *JB
POWER STEERING NO WORK FROM SLOW SPEED. SOMETIMES VERY HARD TO TURN WHEEL EVEN HIGHSPEED. *TR
THE CAR WAS MOVING @45 MPH. SUNNY DRY CONDITIONS TEMP 80 DEGREES. SUNROOF IS CLOSED, COVER IS OPEN, THE SUNROOF EXPLODES. NO OTHER WINDOWS ARE OPEN. GLASS FALLS INSIDE CABIN. DEALER NOTIFIED AND AGREES TO REPLACE. A REQUEST HAS BEEN MADE TO ESCALATE THIS ISSUE WITH HONDA AND NHTSA DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS WITH REAR PASSENGERS BEING HIT WITH FLYING GLASS DEBRIS. THE SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED WITH OTHER HONDA MODELS AND MODEL YEARS NAMELY 2010 CROSSTOUR, AND 2005 ODYSSEY. IT APPEARS THIS ISSUE CAN BE INACCURATELY FILED UNDER COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE POLICIES WHEREBY OWNERS AND DEALERS "SUSPECT" AN OBJECT STRIKE AS THE CAUSE. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. *KB
I HAVE A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 15,000 MILES ON IT. IN AUGUST OF 2011 I NOTICED THAT IT WAS EASILY DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT AND SO HAD IT REALIGNED AT A LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE DRIFTING PROBLEM. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO ROTATED THE FRONT TIRES AND ALSO CHECKED FOR TIRE PRESSURE AND WEAR. ROAD CROWN ALSO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT SINCE THE DRIFT IS NOTICEABLE EVEN ON FLAT SURFACES SUCH AS PARKING LOTS. SINCE THEN I HAVE TAKEN THE VAN IN THREE MORE TIMES TO THE SAME DEALER WHO INSISTS THAT EVERYTHING IS WITHIN FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. I HAVE ALSO TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER WHO CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT AND ROTATED THE TIRES FRONT TO BACK. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AND THE IMMENSE DRIVER FATIGUE CAUSED FROM HAVING TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE STEERING TO PREVENT THE VAN FROM DRIFTING OFF INTO THE NEXT LANE. *JS
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH 12,500 MILES. THE BRAKES GRIND FREQUENTLY AND AT 5-7 MPH THE VAN ROLLS TO A STOP. THIS SEEMS ABNORMAL, THE DEALER SAYS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND STOPPED WHEN THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SHIELD FOR THE ENGINE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SHIELD AND ITS CLIPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,500.
BRAKES ARE SOFT. DOES NOT STOP AT DESIRED DISTANCE. ROTORS WERE RESURFACED BY HONDA DEALER BUT PROBLEM CAME BACK IN 3000 MILES AGAIN. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE ABS LAMP AND THE SRS LAMP ILLUMINATED THEN ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH GPS UNIT AND OIL LEAKING INSIDE VAN UNDER DASH *TGW ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY, WHICH WAS EXCESS OIL. ALSO, THE GPS WAS GIVING INACCURATE INFORMATION AND WOULD REMAIN IN ONE POSITION. *JB
WE BOUGHT A NEW 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY FROM THE HONDA DEALER LAST YEAR AND STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE BRAKE MAKES GRINDING SOUND OCCASIONALLY WHEN I STEP ON IT. AND THE PASSENGER SIDE CAN FEEL THE SHAKING WHEN THE BRAKE IS ENGAGED. I TOOL TO THE DEALER LAST MONTH. THEY TOLD ME THE BREAK IS FINE. IT IS PROBABLY THE ABS SYSTEM CAUSING THE GRINDING AND SHAKING. THERE IS NO NEED TO FIX. BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND WE NEED TO GET IT FIXED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WAS BEING CLOSED BY A CHILD OCCUPANT WHEN IT CLOSED ON THE CHILD'S HANDS. THERE WERE NO SEVERE INJURIES BUT THE CHILDS HAND WAS SWOLLEN. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SENSOR THAT WOULD STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING IF THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION. THE CONTACT DID NOT CONTACT THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 13,801.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM COURTESY PALM HABOR HONDA IN 2010. AT 25000 MILES THIS CAR DIED OUT COMPLETELY ON ME. NOT A SINGLE THING WORKING INCLUDING LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD. CAR WAS TOWED TO NALLEY HONDA, BRUNSWICK GA AND WHILE IT WAS FIXED I WAS INFM THAT THE CAR HAD BAD FUSE. THE SAME WAS REPORTED TO AMERICAN HONDA PRIOR TO TOWING. AMERICAN HONDA HAS NOT TAKEN THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY SAYING IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN PLEASE CALL US BACK AGAIN. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE I AM ON ROAD WITH MY FAMILY. PRIOR TO THIS CAR I HAD ANOTHER 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH HAD SAME ISSUES AND WITH PRESSURE I HAD TO ASK COURTESY PALM HABOR HONDA TO REPLACE ME WITH NEW ONE WHICH THEY DID. THIS IS SOMETHING SERIOUS WHICH AMERICAN HONDA DIDN'T BELIEVE TO ADDRESS AND JUST WALKED AWAY. PREVIOUS VIN I HAD WAS [XXX]. WHO IS GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE IF THE SAME THING HAPPENS AFTER THE MFG WARRANTY IS OVER FROM AMERICAN HONDA. I HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT FROM BUT THEY TOO HAVE RESPONDED WELL TO THE ISSUE AND LEFT ME SAYING NALLEY HONDA WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SLIDING DOORS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH A SENSOR TO PREVENT THE DOORS FROM CLOSING WHEN THE DOOR WAS OBSTRUCTED. THE CONTACTS FINGERS WERE OBSTRUCTING THE REAR DRIVER SLIDING DOOR AND INSTEAD OF SENSING HIS FINGERS WERE IN THE DOOR, CLOSED ON HIS FINGERS RESULTING IN SEVERE BRUISING AND ABRASIONS TO THE LEFT HAND. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE SAFETY MECHANISM FAILED TO KEEP THE DOORS IN THE OPEN POSITION AFTER IT WAS UNLOCKED. THE DOORS FAILED CONTINUOUSLY WHEN IT WAS COLD AND ICE FORMED ON THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE DOOR LATCHES TO REMAIN UNLOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THERE WAS NO FAILURE SINCE IT ONLY OCCURRED DURING FRIGID TEMPERATURES. A REPRESENTATIVE WITH THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO FAILURES WITHIN THE DOORS. THE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO ADDED LUBRICATION TO THE DOORS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,800.
AT 20MPH/1000RPM CAR STOPPED RUNNING. AGAIN ON 1 MARCH @ 30MPH WITH A DIFFERENT DRIVER VAN AGAIN STOPPED RUNNING. RESTARTED NORMALLY BOTH TIMES. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS MAJOR LEAK FROM THE FIREWALL DOWN TO THE FLOOR COMPARTMENT. WATER GETS IN BOTH TAIL LIGHTS WHEN IT IS RAINING. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER TWICE AND THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. HONDA REFUSED ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS. I WILLL NEVER BUY A HONDA EVER AGAIN. THIS IS MY THIRD HONDA AND LAST TOO.
ON AT LEAST 2 OCCASIONS, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK EVEN WHEN USING MULTIPLE METHODS TO UNLOCK IT. EVEN WHEN THE KNOB ON THE DOOR WAS LIFTED MANUALLY, THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. AFTER TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS (KEY FOB, AUTO DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON, MANUALLY LIFTING THE LOCKING KNOB), IT FINALLY OPENED. WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A GLITCH WHEN SOMEONE TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON WAS PUSHED, BUT SINCE READING A REPORT OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT ON AN ODYSSEY, THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKING MECHANISM. ONCE THE KNOB WAS LIFTED MANUALLY, THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE OPENED REGARDLESS.
NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OF VAN FRONT-END SHUDDER THAT IMPACTS THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. TAKEN TO HONDA DEALER, UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER STATES IT WAS WARPED ROTORS BUT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT (2010 MODEL) AND CONSIDERED IT A MAINTENANCE ITEM AND WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. REPAIR WAS NOT MADE. *TR

ACCELERATION PROBLEM- I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF WESTBURY COSTCO WHEN I BACKED UP THE CAR FROM THE PARKING LOT AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE ACCELATOR WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE ACELATOR SPEEDED UP VERY RAPIDLY. *LN
ENGINE CONSUMES TO MUCH OIL, THE VARIABLE CYLINDER ENGINE NEEDS TO BE TURN OFF AND ALLOW TO RUN ON ALL 6 CYLINDERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYESSY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 40 AND 65 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CLARIFICATION AS TO WHICH ROTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,849 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY NEW TO ME 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING VAN HAS EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVER'S SEAT AND PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO PROTRUDING HEAD RESTRAINTS. THE HEAD REST PUSHES HEAD SO FAR FORWARD THAT IT CAUSES PAIN IN THE BACK, NECK, HIPS AND LEGS DUE TO LACK OF ANY SUPPORT IN THE BACK.IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU POSITION THE SEAT OR THE HEAD RESTRAINT. NOTHING MAKES IT COMFORTABLE. I AM NOW HAVING SEVERE BACK PAIN, AND STRESSED MUSCLES EVERYWHERE ELSE. I AM 5'4". PLEASE CREATE LESS PROTRUDING HEAD RESTS SO MY BACK CAN ACTUALLY REACH THE BACK OF THE SEAT AND MY NECK IS NOT FORCED FORWARD IN AN AWKWARD ANGLE. HELP PLEASE. THIS IS MY FIFTH HONDA AND SECOND ODYSSEY AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY CAR OF ANY BRAND BE SO UNCOMFORTABLE. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2010 GRAB BAR CAUSED TODDLER TO BREAK LEG. TWO YEAR OLD WAS IN HER CAR SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SHE PUT HER FOOT ON TOP OF THE GRAB BAR BEHIND THE SEAT, HER SHOE (SIZE 7 1/5) CAUGHT, SHE PULLED AND THE FORCE BROKE HER LEG. THIS HAPPENED IN THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO OPEN THE DOOR AND GET INTO THE CAR. I THINK THAT IF THE GRAB BAR WAS SHAPED DIFFERENTLY (THICKER BAR PART AND NARROWER HOLE ) THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
THE SLIDING DOORS TO OUR 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY HAVE FAILED TO CLOSE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE ROLLER THAT THEY RUN ON BRAKES AND CAUSES THE DOOR NOT TO CLOSE. IT WILL OPEN BUT NOT CLOSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US THREE TIMES AND IT WAS TODAY TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYPLACE SUCH AS A STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY TO SWITCH DRIVERS. WHEN THE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE THE CAR WILL NOT ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO GET OUT OF PARK INTO GEAR. THERE WE ARE STUCK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND NOT ABLE TO MOVE. IF WE GET OUT OF THE CAR WE CAN GET HIT BY A CAR. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS YOU IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE HE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS. THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM BEGAN TO SOUND AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE POLICE WHO INFORMED HIM TO MOVE THE KEY BACK AND FORTH INSIDE OF THE IGNITION WHICH ALLOWED THE DOORS TO UNLOCK AND THE CONTACT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS RESET. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,120. UPDATED 01/14/11*LJ
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY NOW HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED IN APRIL, 2010. AT LEAST FOUR SEPARATE TIMES SINCE PURCHASE IN VARIOUS TYPES OF WEATHER (COLD, HOT, MILD, WET, SNOW) THE FRONT PASSENGER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE DOOR LATCH NOT DISENGAGING. THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED TO UNLOCK. THE DOOR LOCKS APPEARED TO UNLOCK (THE STEM WENT UP). HOWEVER, THE DOOR WAS STILL LOCKED. AFTER TRYING VARIOUS THINGS LIKE REINSERTING THE KEY, TURNING ON/OFF THE ENGINE, ACTIVATING THE UNLOCK FEATURE ON THE KEYLESS ENTRY BUTTON, THE DOOR FINALLY WOULD UNLOCK AND OPEN. AS A SIDE NOTE, WHEN EXITING THE VAN I ALWAYS RECEIVE A SLIGHT STATIC SHOCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN SHE ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WAS SOFT. SHE HAD TO ENGAGED THE BRAKES HARDER IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. SHE STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAD TO BLEED HER BRAKES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,300.
I TOO HAVE HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEMS W/ BOTH MY NEW 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY (CURRENTLY 1600 MI) AND MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY (130000 MI WHEN TRADED-IN). IN ALL CASES I HAD ENGINE ACCELERATION AS I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. VERY SCARY THE FIRST TIME OR TWO. I FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT MY FOOT WAS OVERHANGING THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THE RIGHT (WHICH IT CAN EASILY DO WHEN BRAKING WITH MY RIGHT FOOT) AND WAS INADVERTENTLY CONTACTING THE GAS PEDAL. THE HARDER I TRIED TO BRAKE THE FASTER THE ENGINE ACCELERATED. I HAVE LEARNED TO LET UP ON THE BRAKE & MOVE MY FOOT TO THE LEFT. IMMEDIATE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED BUT I BELIEVE THIS A DESIGN FAULT. MORE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE & GAS PEDALS WOULD ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. PERHAPS A REDESIGN OF THE BRAKE PEDAL FACE WOULD BE A COST EFFECTIVE REMEDY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND SLOW TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO HAPHAZARDLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKES WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED EACH TIME. THIS CONCERNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS OCCURRENCES OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, ON INITIAL APPLICATION, GOING SO LOW THAT I ALSO HIT THE ACCELERATOR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD VIGOROUSLY. WHEN I CONTINUE TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. WHEN I RELEASE THE PEDAL AND REAPPLY IT, IT GIVES ME A HARDER PEDAL IN WHICH TO GET STOPPED. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER SERVICE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE SERVICE PEOPLE AT THIS FACILITY DO NOT SHOW THE CONCERN FOR THIS AS I FEEL THEY SHOULD, SINCE THIS INVOLVES A CONDITION THAT IS OF MY GRAVE CONCERN, AND I HOPE THAT I DON'T GO THERE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH WITH THE MOON ROOF CLOSED IT SHATTERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHADE THAT COVERS THE MOON ROOF WAS ALSO CLOSED BUT IF IT WAS OPEN ALL OF THE PASSENGERS COULD OF BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE MOON ROOF REPAIRED BUT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE ROOF SHATTERED. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS A CRACK IN THE MOON ROOF BUT THE CONTACT STATED THE MOON ROOF HAD NO CRACKS NOR WAS HIT BY AN OBJECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.
ENGINE FAILURE AT 1700 MILES. FRONT AND REAR CAMSHAFTS SEIZED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE DISABLED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A SECONDARY ROAD WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC AND JUST ABLE TO GET OFF HIGHWAY. REPLACED CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLIES,SPROCKETS, BELTS, GASKETS, ETC. OLD PARTS RETAINED BY DEALER. WE CALLED HONDA AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE 1-800-999-1009 AND SPOKE TO A GENTLEMAN NAMED DAVID, WHO WAS NOT HELPFUL AND WOULD NOT TRANSFER US TO ANYONE WITH ANY AUTHORITY. THE DEALER TOLD US HONDA AMERICA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER 3.5 L ENGINES. FORTUNATELY NO ONE APPARENTLY HAS BEEN DISABLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND KILLED BY LOSS OF CONTROL. *TR
AT 110,000 MILES I BEGAN HAVING TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEARS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE UNTIL ALL SHIFTS WERE SLIPPING. THIS CAR HAS A LONG LAG (5 SECONDS OR MORE) WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. AT 114,000, THE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED BY A 3RD PARTY TRANSMISSION SHOP. $2600 LATER, THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. THE SHOP CURRENTLY BELIEVES (THEY AREN'T SURE BECAUSE THEY STILL HAVEN'T GOT IT WORKING PROPERLY) THE FAILURE BEGAN WITH AN ELECTRICAL, POSSIBLY ECM, PROBLEM. THIS VAN HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. *TR

VEHICLE PULLS RIGHT AND/OR LEFT DEPENDING ON WHICH WAY YOU TURN INTO A CURVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN ROUNDING CURVES AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY/HIGHWAY. IT HAS REQUIRED MULTIPLE WHEEL ALIGNMENTS WHICH REALLY DON'T HELP. NOW IT HAS ISSUES WITH STEERING WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS, PARTICULARLY IN PARKING LOTS AND/OR GOING IN/OUT OF DRIVEWAYS, MAKING LOUD CLUNKING NOISES.I RECEIVED NOTICES REGARDING UPDATES FOR WHICH I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER TO COMPLETE. THIS DID NOT HELP WITH THE STEERING ISSUES. WHEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES IT WILL CAUSE ARM FATIGUE DUE TO FIGHTING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN THE CORRECT LANE. I ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 95 ( 2 LANE HWY) IN NEVADA DUE TO THE CONSTANT PULLING AND FLOATING. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ROAD CONDITIONS, MY DRIVING, ETC. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE. THE LAST TIME I TOOK THE VAN IN, IT CHANGED LANES INTO THE LEFT TURN LANE JUST BY LETTING GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS PREVIOUSLY TOLD THAT DUE TO THE NATURAL CURVE OF A STREET, THE CENTER BEING HIGHER, THAT ANY VEHICLE WILL FLOAT SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT IF IN THE CENTER LANE (MIDDLE OF THE ROAD). IF THIS IS TRUE THEN I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY MY VEHICLE WENT LEFT. IS HONDA WAITING FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BEFORE THEY DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE? I AM NOT EXACTLY SURE OF THE INITIAL DATE AND MILEAGE WHEN I FIRST TOOK THIS VEHICLE IN FOR THE STEERING ISSUES, I ONLY KNOW IT WAS VERY NEW (WITHIN 2 -3 MOS. OLD). THE CAR JERKS AND SLAMS INTO GEAR UPON ENTRANCE TO A HIGHWAY, WITH FURTHER REVVING AND LOUD BANGING SLAMMING INTO GEAR FOR THE NEXT SHIFT. BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AND THEN 2ND AND THIRD GEARS. AT 7000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A VERY LOUD GRINDING AND RATTLING NOISE, SHAKING THE VEHICLE, WHEN SHIFTING FROM R TO D. THIS WAS REPEATED AT 25,000 MILES SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE. IN JULY OF 2010, VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR MEMORY STEERING, THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT STRUT. NOVEMBER OF 2010, THE VEHICLE STEERING IS UNSTABLE AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING LEFT. THE SENSATION IS EITHER OVER-ACTIVITY OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP OR UNDER-ACTIVITY. VEHICLE SEEMS VERY UNSTABLE UNDER LOW SPEED DRIVING CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY ON BUMPY ROADS. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY ANYTHING ABNORMAL. *TR
DRIVER'S DOOR UNLOCKS SPONTANEOUSLY WHEN MAKING SLOW RIGHT HAND TURNS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION AT LOW SPEEDS. IT THEN RE LOCKS, ONLY TO SPONTANEOUSLY UNLOCK AGAIN.
THIS IS AN ON-GOING SAFETY ISSUE AND POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DEFECT INVOLVING THE CHECK ROD MECHANISM ON THE FRONT DOORS OF THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK RODS DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESISTANCE TO KEEP THE DOOR OPEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE FRONT DOOR IS IN THE FULLY OPENED POSITION, THE DOOR IS PRONE TO SWING SHUT. THIS OCCURS IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS: ON A LEVEL SURFACE, IF THE DOOR IS PUSHED OPEN, THE DOOR WILL SOMETIMES SWING BACK ON THE OCCUPANT; THE FULLY OPENED DOOR WILL ALSO SWING SHUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON EVEN A SLIGHT INCLINE OR IS BLOWN BY A GUST OF WIND. THE CHECK RODS DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESISTANCE TO KEEP THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION WHEN FULLY EXTENDED. THESE ARE VERY HEAVY DOORS AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BOTH EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS INSTANCES IN WHICH THE DOOR HAS STARTED SWINGING SHUT IN EACH OF THESE SITUATIONS. I DISCUSSED THIS CONCERN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO AMERICAN HONDA (CASE # [XXX]). I COMPARED THE FRONT DOOR CHECK ROD MECHANISM IN THE 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY ON THE DEALER?S LOT. THE CHECK ROD ON THE 2012 ODYSSEY FUNCTIONED PROPERLY, CREATING AN APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF RESISTANCE WHEN THE DOOR WAS FULLY EXTENDED. THE SERVICE MANAGER ORDERED A SET OF 2012 ODYSSEY CHECK RODS, WITH THE HOPE THEY COULD BE INSTALLED ON MY 2010 ODYSSEY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE 2012 RODS DID NOT MATCH AND COULD NOT BE INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. AMERICAN HONDA HAS DECLINED TO TAKE ANY REMEDIAL ACTION. I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT THE DEFECT IN THE CHECK ROD USED IN THE 2010 ODYSSEY MODEL LED TO A REDESIGN OF THE CHECK ROD MECHANISM FOR SUBSEQUENT VEHICLE YEARS. VEHICLE REVVED AT 1500 RPMS WHILE IN DRIVE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, PUT IN TO NEUTRAL AND IT REVVED TO 5000-6000 RPMS WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. TURNED OFF AND ON, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV AT 5000-6000 RPMS WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN, VEHICLE BACK TO NORMAL. PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. BROUGHT TO DEALER, DEALER DID BASIC TESTING, COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, BUT DEALER CHECKED FOR STORED CODES, NOTHING FOUND. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SAID VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. DEALER SUGGESTED FOOT WAS ON GAS PEDAL, OR FLOOR MAT WAS ON GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, FOOT WAS ON BRAKE, AND FLOOR MAT WAS SECURED TO FLOOR. WE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES WITH A 2001 ODYSSEY, THOUGHT PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THIS NEW MODEL. DEALER COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH THE 2001 ODYSSEY EITHER. THE CONSEQUENCE IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS VEHICLE COULD HIT SOMETHING IN FRONT OF IT IF BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED FIRMLY WHEN TRYING TO COME TO A STOP. *TR
CAR PULLS TO RIGHT AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN. IF LAST TURN WAS TO THE LEFT CAR DRIVES STRAIGHT. WHEN PULLING TO THE RIGHT IS PULLS HARD ENOUGH THAT IS WILL CAUSE FATIGUE IN YOUR ARMS AFTER AWHILE OF DRIVING. ALSO IT YOU ALLOW IT THE CAR WILL CHANGE LANES IN LESS THAN 3 SECONDS. THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT BEING CORRECTED. THEY HAVE ROTATED TIRES, REALIGNMENT, REPLACED STEERING RACK, REPLACE BOTH UPPER STRUT BEARINGS, ALL WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IN THIS CONDITION IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BUT WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE IT. WE ARE TO MEET WITH THE HONDA REP. NEXT WEEK FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED ON THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. ON THE SECOND AND THIRD OCCURRENCES AIR WAS BLED OUT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY ENGINE DEFECT THAT CAUSES IT TO FAIL AND CEASE OPERATION WHILE DRIVING HAVING THE DRIVER LOSE THE ABILITY TO FULLY CONTROL THE VEHICLE. DEFECT IS IN THE OIL SUPPLY TO THE OVERHEAD CAMSHAFT CAUSING IT TO SEIZE AND BREAKING THE TIMING BELT. MUCH UPPER END ENGINE DAMAGE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MODERATE TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY STOPPED AT AN OFF-RAMP. I PUSHED MY BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE FEELING THE BRAKES ENGAGE AT ALL. IT APPEARED THAT I HAD ENOUGH DISTANCE TO STOP, BUT MY CAR CONTINUED TO SLIDE INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, AND WE WERE SURPRISED TO HAVE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING IN OUR FACES AS WE HIT THE OTHER CAR. THAT CAR THEN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. ALL 3 CARS WERE UNDRIVABLE. THE OTHER TWO DRIVERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE, WHILE MY DAUGHTER AND I HAD PAIN FOR 1-2 WEEKS FOLLOWING. I DROVE ANOTHER CAR WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP, AND WAS SHOCKED AT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAKING. DRIVING THE HONDA EVERY DAY, I DID NOT NOTICE THE CHANGES IN BRAKE FUNCTIONING OVER TIME. I LITERALLY HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE BRAKES TO WORK. I JUST HAD THE BRAKE RECALL PERFORMED, AND NOTICE A DRASTIC DIFFERENCE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND IN HOW LITTLE I HAVE TO PUSH ON THE PEDAL NOW TO GET THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA THAT THE SOFT BRAKES WOULD HAVE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH ACTUAL BRAKE FUNCTIONING. *TR
