The windshield camera malfunction caused a loss of all adaptive features include: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, collision prevention, automatic emergency braking system, and automatic highbeam.
Front camera failure disabled Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assistance.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving during a snow day at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle lost traction and crashed into a curb on the front driver's side where it came to a stop. The crash was minor. No property damage was on the curb. The air bags deployed with excessive force. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to a local independent dealer where it was diagnosed that an air bag replacement was needed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was repaired cosmetically by the insurance provider. The contact believed that the impact to the curb was minor and equivalent to going over a pothole which should not have warranted an air bag deployment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
While driving at approximately 12 mph on slightly snowy roads, my vehicle slipped and made a light impact with the sidewalk curb. Despite the minor nature of the collision, the entire left-side curtain airbag and seat airbag deployed with full force, as if a severe accident had occurred. This deployment was unexpected and excessive given the low-speed impact. I have found multiple online reports of similar incidents involving premature or overly sensitive airbag deployment in Honda vehicles, which raises concerns about a potential safety defect. Concern: I believe this may indicate a flaw in the airbag deployment system or sensor calibration. This poses a safety risk and could result in unnecessary injuries or repair costs
We bought this van with a clean bill of health as far as accidents and single owner prior to us. The car had a documented maintenance history but after 5K miles of driving it the active cruise control began to through all kinds of errors. I researched this issue and find that many more Honda owners with active cruise control have the same issue. A few customers say that they had their front camera replaced and calibrated for a cost of about $1,600.00 only to have the error show up again. I am writing this message to report that in my case I have found a work around. It’s not a permanent fix but points to Honda’s computer throwing a false positive error that is costing a great deal of money to Honda owners. On our van when this error happens, I force a diagnostic scan followed by a forced computer reboot and the warning lights are fixed an all equipment back to working. It’s horrible to read that Honda charges $1,600.00 to replace perfectly good parts in all their line without taking the time to truly diagnose their issues with ACC errors and do good to their customers. I hope this helps reach someone who can further investigate this issue with Hondas. In our family’s case we are lucky that I have an IT background and was able to find a fix for this issue without any costs to our family financials and avoided paying Honda to replace perfectly working components due to their lack of knowledge of how their equipment works. Rear tailgate doesn't open with keyfob or with switch on the back door. it had to be pulled hard to open in manually and pushed hard manually to close it. There are so many incidents reported on line for the same. The fix seems be a control board (Which gets bad due to water getting in the compartment (or on the board). We have talked to Honda - as per them there is no active recall on this.
After driving for about a minute, there is a beep and the brake system warning light comes on. Then the dash begins cycling through multiple warning messages - LKAS/ACC/CMBS/RDM - and will not stop. Now the repair shop tells us that the front multipurpose camera ADAS needs to be removed and replaced, and the ADAS calibrated. Including the fee to diagnose the issue, total cost is $2,980. Van has about 56,500 miles. We have already had it towed twice for battery replacement following similar symptoms, and had battery replaced both times. But with the new battery only 3 months old, it became clear the issue was bigger.
It happened twice this month already. Once while driving, the car lost power (as if engine was never turned on), and the gear changed to N so I tried to slow down, then the power came back on, and then I was able to shift to D and continue my trip. Second one happened this morning. It was on auto-shutting idle position and when I put my foot on the accelerator, it completely lost power again (I recently changed the battery and tested in the afternoon and all working properly).
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated, with or without an occupant seated in the front passenger’s seat. Upon investigation, the contact discovered Honda Campaign Notice: 24-050, which the contact linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in the campaign. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Infotainment system - while driving suddenly there is a cracking/ shrieking startling noise and infotainment system goes off shutting down ( network communication lost sign comes on) and the screen goes blank. No camera works. Radio and all electronic display goes off for a couple of minutes. Slowly, it begins to come back to life by itself in a couple of minutes. This happens randomly on and off. In last 4 weeks, it happened at least 15 times while driving. Honda dealership has my car for three days without a diagnosis or correction.
Vehicle was acting normally, and unexpectedly 5 warning alarms came in concurrently all related to ADAS features, creating confusion for the driver. No other abnormalities were observed. Vehicle runs and drives normally. All the ADAS features are disabled and the warning lights continue to display every time the vehicle is driven. There is no way to disable the lights and the culprit of the alarms is a bad multipurpose camera behind the windshield. Honda wants around$1500 (parts and labor) to replace the camera. A quick search finds this a common complaint amongst Odyssey owners and a recall should be issued.
__ The present complaint alleges as follows: 1. Honda has a defective design in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of all Honda Odysseys, models 2018-2023. 2. Namely, Honda has placed the RADAR behind the large HONDA emblem on the front grille. This causes the radar to give a "RADAR OBSTRUCTED" warning, which disables all Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the car (Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning). 3. The "RADAR OBSTRUCTED" warning cannot be reset by restarting the vehicle or disconnecting the battery, requiring recalibration of the RADAR at the cost of $800 each time since it takes several hours to do (per Dealership). 4. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. 5. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. 6. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers by designing a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. 7. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanently addresses the problem.
The multifunction forward looking camera in the top of the windshield developed an "internal fault" and either needs replacement or these safety features will fail to work. These safety features allow me to avoid accidents. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. There are warning lamps that state that these features are no longer working.
The camera is faulty and I've brought it in once early on and the dealer said a wire needed to be tightened. It happened again and they said no such loose wire this time. The code says camera needs to be replaced. I don't even have 100k miles on this car and it's going bad. Faulty part and I know this is happening a lot.
The radio/screen will go blank when I am driving.
The windshield camera went out. I am now unable to use cruise control auto lights auto breaking.
While driving on 12/20/2024 the 2020 Honda Odyssey started showing 5 warning lights (ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, & Auto High-Beam Problem) on the dashboard, along with the “BRAKE SYSTEM” light. After these messages and light popped up, the cruise control would not work. The crash mitigation system would not work (automatic breaking). The lane assist would not work as well. All of these safety features would not work which posed a combined severe safety issue to my family while driving the van, and those around me on the highway. After parking the van, I Googled these messages and saw that not only was this an issue with my model of Odyssey, but with several of Honda’s vehicles which use the same Monocular Camera. After getting my battery checked to ensure there was no low voltage issue (to which there was non and the battery checked out okay), I took the van to a Honda dealership. The Honda dealership performed a “Express Service Multi-Point Inspection” diagnostic test and told me on 12/23/2024 that the Monocular Camera was defective, which controls all of the safety systems listed above. On 01/02/2025, the Honda dealership replaced the defective Monocular Camera, to which they charged me full price for the Monocular Camera part itself and the labor to put the Monocular Camera in the Odyssey. Once the repair occurred, ALL of the messages and lights on the dashboard have cleared and all of the safety systems mentioned above are now working correctly.
While driving on highway, 3 hours away from home, all of a sudden van slowed down and jerking and shaking with loud grinding movement sound from the van started. No warning sign displayed on the dashboard display screen and no warning alert either. Luckily got out of the exit and parked the van. Van was not going beyond first gear and jerking and shaking and making loud grinding sound. Van was not drivable safely. Towed to the local Honda dealership which was 30 miles away. Dealership checked the Van and diagnosed that the 10 speed Automatic transmission has failed and need a new transmission now. There is no warning sign or error on the dashboard display and any warning alert even after this incident happened. I am very disappointed that such an expensive van has no good warning sing or alert system for transmission failure, even though vehicle has computer to monitor every small thing but no good warning system for most expensive automatic Transmission system. This is total lack of care and failure on the part of manufacturer Honda, which did not put some good warning system on these defective automatic transmissions. These sudden failures can cause catastrophic accidents on the highways and roads. This sudden failure of transmission should have been a recall for defective manufacturing of 10 speed automatic transmission in Honda Odyssey van.
I have less than 35k miles on my car and I have 5 warning that appeared out of no where. My car has never been in an accident and I take care of it. I searched on YouTube and apparently this is very common issue. It cost $3500 to fix and needs to be with a dealer. The 5 warnings are Issue with car 1) Lane keep problem assist, 2)auto-high beam problem, 3) road departure mitigation system, 4)adaptive cruise control, 5) collision mitigation system, The car is 4 years old and should not have this problem but a lot of people who own the same exact model have tge same issue. Honda needs to do a recall and fix it for free
sliding doors will not close! they go to close and open up, I have woken up to my car doors open, several times. come out of the store and my sliding door open, they go to shut completely and open back up.
Car was operating fine on the way to a game on 11/25/2024. Parked and went inside to watch game. After the game I went to my car and when I cranked it all the warnings below came on. **Auto High Beam problem **ACC problem **Brake System problem **LKAS problem those are the warnings I can remember. I immediately cut the car off and walked around to see if maybe I had been hit while parked cause something told me it could be a camera issue with the LKAS problem ♀️. I had not been hit. The car was fine and just as it was when I parked it. I cranked it again and the lights were still on showing problems and stayed on. I took it to the dealership and they said it's the multi-purpose camera malfunction/went out and needs new one.
The contact's wife owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I am writing to report a significant safety issue with my 2020 Honda Odyssey. The Front Assembly Assist Monocular Camera (OEM part 36160-THR-C01-M1) has failed, causing the loss of several critical safety features, including auto high beam, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). The local Honda dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal fault in the camera unit. Through research, I have discovered this failure is not an isolated incident. Numerous reports from other Odyssey owners highlight similar issues with the camera leading to the deactivation of these safety features. For example, discussions on the Honda Odyssey Forum and other online platforms describe widespread failures of front-camera-dependent systems, including lane-keeping and collision avoidance features. These failures compromise vehicle safety, potentially increasing the risk of accidents. The camera’s malfunction disables essential systems designed to enhance driver awareness and prevent collisions, leaving drivers vulnerable in critical situations. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as the consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem. A recall or corrective action may be necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of these vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
I was driving with cruise control on and a car pulled in front of me and hit the brakes. My car reacted by hitting the brakes hard and the engine tried to recover but hiccupped and lost power and engine light flashed at me. I pulled over and when I started the car again there was a rattle that would get faster if i pressed the throttle. I was able to get back on the road and the throttle rattle was still there and now it started saying engine oil low. I pulled over, checked dipstick and it was fine. Engine oil low light continued to flash, so I went to a oil change place to have them look and change the oil and they reported nothing wrong. I left and continued driving and the rattle noise was still there, engine oil low was still there. Then i heart a loud pop and griding noise, lost all power and had to pull over. This time the car was dead. I had it towed to a mechanic who said had to be an internal defect in the engine from the factory.

I have a 2020 Honda Odyssey and had it into the dealer for service. The battery needed to be replaced. I replaced the battery myself and had the below 5 error messages. 1-Lane departure 2-Aptive cruise control 3-Auto High beams 4-forward Collison 5-Lane keep assistant This is all failures due to the front camera monocular. This failure can cause auto accident due to it malfunctioning. This issue was discovered at a private dealer and a the car dealership. Per the dealer this is a known issue and very common issue. Honda needs to make this a warranty recall and issue
right sliding Door fails to fully open and fully close when entering or while driving , it's available for inspection, high safety concern while driving door may open 4 kids ride everyday. The problem shows everyday on the info center and BIPS showing malfunctioning , will showw 100% on the computer reading ,has not being inspected by Dealer Service Department yet, i have reported safety issue and descrived and officially reported to Honda Customer Service [XXX] case #[XXX] (Laura) on Oct-21-2024. Yes Warning lamps and messages of the problem showed few times at first and Now it shows constantly ,Sliding door can not be operated. All of a sudden warnings appear related to Collision Mitigation system Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Auto High Beam Problem Adaptive cruise control problem Road departure mitigation problem This is a major issue. I don’t feel safe driving this car with my family. Therefore NHTSA should get Honda to issue a recall for this vehicle given the magnitude and sheer scale of the problem. Below is one of many such forums where people who model years 2018-2020 have the exact same problem. https://www.odyclub.com/threads/lkas-acc-collision-avoidance-auto-high-beam-problem.373456/page-2?nested_view=1&sortby=oldest
The multifunction camera which is responsible for ADAS features suddenly failed
Several engine failures, starting one month after purchase in September 2020. multiple system failures (all on video) leading to very poor acceleration and operation. No compression in engine and only able to go 20 mph. White-Allen Honda made four attempts to solve the matter over the course of two years. The dealer has had the car a total of 120 days. Then end of December 2024 then engine began making a knocking sound and I was told it needed at new engine, to the tune of $10,000.00. Then I see a recall for a similar issue but only up to 2019 Odysseys. Please help find resolution for this.
The navigation/ radio / rear view camera just resets multiple times while driving, sometimes it happens more frequently than other days. Message that comes up is: Network Communication Lost. Researched online and tried to resolve via software update but seems to made it worse. Reluctant to take to the dealer as warranty has expired and more importantly, blogs show that the issues have never been resolved even after dealer. Wiring harness replacement didn’t resolve.
MY GUAGE CONTROL WENT BLACK (It's the screen behind my steering wheel that tells me how many miles the car as, the odometer and speedometer (now don't know my speed!) and has maintenance info that is missing from my view now too! This is a serious safety issue! It also activates cruise control. They want to charge me $2K to replace it. The car is a 2020 with about 32K miles on it! And charged me a $180 diagnostic fee. Incidentally, the radio screen went black a few days later, but when I pressed the brightness button, it came back on. BTW, there is a little stick in front of the screen (maybe for the clock?) and it just spins and spins. Maybe that is simply broken and the brightness is turned down all the way? Though they stated the guage control needs to be replaced entirely. There is not a safety recall on this presently for my VIN and no software updates.
This is the second time I’ve had to bring my car in. I have a variety of different warning signs popping up and I see that I’m not the only person that this is happened to when I look at Reddit online the malfunction is somewhere within the car system and it’s because of a windshield camera, which has nothing to do with the, warning signs that I am getting on my car. This needs to be recalled and fixed for free.
Several times over the last 18-24 months my van has 'stalled' after the auto engine start/stop feature restarts my car. This has mostly happened while at stop lights/signs, or idle. However, it has happened twice while driving, my car will just die and slow dramatically. I have been able to restart by pushing the start/engine button. There has been two times where restarting (while idle) has not worked. Most recently it happened while at a stop light. when the light turned green I went to accelerate and the van would not move, all the dash lit up, and there was no power to the engine. It took several minutes to get the van restarted, holding up traffic and causing me panic and fear that I could be hit.
Top left rear exterior seam/seal on the top of the roof, under the black strip that runs front to back is leaking inside the left inner side/panel of the trunk, leaking water into all electrical components (break/turning lights) as well as the left rear seatbelt mechanism, soaking seatbelt, rendering it unusable. Could be a potential fatality in case of an accident.
ACC system started giving errors, diagnostics ran at Honda pointed to multi function camera. System was quoted for replacement at 1500 this seems to be a big problem across these models. Please investigate.
Sliding door stopped operating as a result of "badly torn inner bushings" which required the door motor and control arm to be replaced. This occurred just from normal use of the vehicle. At certain points, the opposite door also began to exhibit the same symptoms as the other. Furthermore, this problem did not just happen overnight, these components should be made part of a normal inspection just like the cabin air filter. Why is that inspected but the bushings of a sliding door are not? Could it be so the manufacturer or service department is hoping for these components to break so that it can gain business and work?
Camera sensor fails from time to time and break system light come on. This is reported to happen on most Honda from 2018 to current model.
The front camera has failed for apparently no reason at all. There has been no crash, no damage on our end. We turned the car on and all of the safety warnings came on. The dealership has inspected it and said the code is for the camera failing. Many warning lights appear on the dash due to none of the safety features working without the front camera. This has caused all of the adaptive safety features to fail. There have been no recalls yet, despite the recalls for the rear camera, and many other odyssey owners having the same issue with the front camera. We have reported it to honda and were told that it has been reported by others, but not enough times to issue a recall. It is expensive to fix and poses a serious danger to leave due to none of the safety features working. This is a manufacturing defect that honda is not taking seriously.
September 2024, i bought my car to the dealership to check multiple warning lights showed up on my dashboard. The dealer read the code and determine the multipurpose windshield camera had internal malfunction. The dealer told me that my multipurpose windshield camera need to be replace on my 60k mi 2020 Odyssey EX-L for ~$2.3k in Conshohocken PA. I had many of those sensor lights on (e. g. ACC, lane assist, collision mitigation) and saw many comments on a YouTube video (Honda Odyssey Warning Lights Bonanza Get Ready to PAY). Do my research online; seem like this happened a lot for the Honda Odyssey from year 2017 to year 2020 Hope NHTSA will investigate on this issue. It a very expensive fix for the vehicle barely break in. With all those safety feature disengage/malfunction at the same time, it is a very dangerous issue.
It seems our multi-purpose camera is malfunctioning and therefore causing all of the systems to go offline and light up on the dashboard when we turn on the car. It seems the only solution is to replace this. That seems insane that we should have to pay for this if this is a major safety feature of the car and one of the reasons we purchased the vehicle.
UNKNOWN. Auto engine idle stop was enabled when the vehicle was at a complete stop. Upon disengaging, the engine stalled and took a couple minutes to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was located in a highway that caused traffic delay and safety concerns. This has happened more than once.
My 2020 Honda Odyssey is exhibiting problems with the infotainment system. The system will reboot randomly, disabling all functionality of the rear back-up camera, the audio system, the clock, and all other associated features of the "infotainment" system. The screen will display "NETWORK CONNECTION LOST" and "MOST NET OFF" prior to unprompted reboot. System will reboot continuously following failure. Issue is ongoing for the past few months. This issue is the exact issue covered by the NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V439000. Possibly covered under 20V440000. Other 2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles are covered by this recall, however my VIN was not covered. I called Honda, and was not assisted in the slightest with the issue. I am requesting my VIN be added to the recall list, and/or Honda be penalized for improperly identifying vehicles with the affected issue. As it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying, this vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
This model has had a recall of the wire being to short and having faulty connections. I have replaced the wires module now 5 times . The last time it got replaced after a couple of months the screen on the car has gone blank and now they tell me the whole computer needs to be replaced. No LCD and no backup screen . This is absolutely ridiculous . Anything that can be done this car seems to be a electrical disaster.
Shortly after purchasing my vehicle and replacing the battery, I received multiple dashboard warnings. I took it in to the dealership, and I was advised that the van's multipurpose camera located behind the rear view mirror needed to be replaced. I have researched this issue and this appears to be very common with the Honda Odysseys. The vehicle is less than 48 months old, and it's already an issue? Wondering if this can be logged so that it can be recalled.
After owning this vehicle for a little over a year without issues, I turned on the vehicle and randomly received the following five (5) error messages: Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control Problem (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, and Auto High-Beam Problem. I realized that other Honda Odyssey owners have mentioned receiving the same error messages, especially around my year (2020). The believe all of the error messages are related to the same component - either faulty wiring, camera system, or install issue. The error messages come on every time I turn on the vehicle now. I live in Texas and the first day it occurred was especially hot - it first occurred in the summer months. It is now December with mild weather and the error messages still occur. It is worrisome because the Collision Mitigation System was among the safety features that contributed to us purchasing the vehicle.
The Infotainment system started blanking out and restarting while driving. This issue has started about 1 year ago to this date. it has occured on multiple occassions, We have brought it to Honda to get it repaired under warranty but they refused. The refusal was due to the fact that they could not "duplicate" the issue regardless of having Video Proof of the issue. The second issue is the Multipurpose camera Malfuncition. My vehicle is no longer under warranty and now I have to shell out $800 USD to fix this issue. All the lights have popped up on the Dash. Both issue have not been adressed by Honda, they refuse to fix the issue with countless other electrical problems that this van has aquired over the short lifespan of this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to restart. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); the VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 30,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
