Hello I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L that was involved in an accident and declared a total loss. During the incident, I was driving in snowy conditions at approximately 50 mph while entering a split lane. The vehicle began to skid, and shortly afterward I observed warning indicators activating. It appeared that vehicle safety systems, including stability or braking systems, engaged automatically. Over the next several seconds, I attempted to regain control by applying the brakes multiple times and making steering corrections. However, the vehicle did not respond as expected. Despite these inputs, the vehicle continued toward the shoulder and ultimately impacted a barrier. I was unable to regain effective steering control during this period. This raises concern about the behavior and response of vehicle safety systems, including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and related driver-assist features during loss-of-traction conditions. Additionally, I became aware of a recall affecting similar model years related to unintended or improper curtain airbag deployment due to system sensitivity. Given that my vehicle falls within this model range, I believe it is important to evaluate whether system behavior may have contributed to the incident. I am requesting that this incident be reviewed as a potential safety issue and considered alongside similar reports to determine whether further investigation is warranted.
I was at a 4 way stop on a quiet street, I stopped and then proceeded to move forward. As I was moving forward, in the middle of the intersection, the automatic emergency braking system activated which slammed on my brakes, involuntarily, in the middle of the intersection. There were no hazards in front of me that the vehicle would have detected as being a cause for braking. Thankfully, no one was coming through the intersection at the time from the perpendicular sides or else I would have been hit. The braking was so forceful that it caused my phone, that was sitting in my lap to be flung to the floor and was ripped from the charging cord with force. Additionally, to show the force, I had books sitting on the passenger seat that all got thrown to the floor with the impact of the braking system.
All ADAS systems have failed including the ABS. The safety camera has failed.
After I took my car through a car wash I got the folllowing alert, "Radar obstructed warning." After this warning I then got the warnings for brake system, cruise control all not working
Vehicle braking system gets activated too often. Dealership services cannot find anything nor accept there's any issues. Today 08/15/2024 the vehicle locked up the brakes, while driving at 55 mph; injuring a 15 yr; 12 yr; 11yr; and 57 yr. Grandmother. Called dealership services and stated they will see vehicle, but don't believe to find anything, as before. Two of my family members sustained neck injuries. Can you please help. Vehicle can be inspected anytime. Please call first.
while driving in the through lane, we experienced (this has happened several times) a sudden sharp braking due to a car in a turn lane being stopped and sensed by the anticollision system. We believe this same system has caused hard braking when changing from a through lane to a right turn lane without putting on the turn signal. It also "gently" brakes at times when the lane markings on one side or the other are faint or missing, we think the system sees this as a lane departure. The most recent sharp sudden braking almost caused us to be rear-ended. Along with this there are various issues with proximity sensors around the vehicle. We believe all of these issues are related.
Driving on highway at approximately 30 MPH and vehicle suddenly braked for no reason.
Multiple occasions of emergency braking when not in traffic or in any danger.
The Camera/sensors are defective and are dying. My vehicle is less than 2 years old and all these features are not working. Honda is saying I need to replace the camera out of my own pocket. I'm seeing online that this is a common problem to a lot of Honda owners
My wife was driving the vehicle, the vehicle unexpectedly came to a halt, displaying the "BREAK" sign on the instrument dashboard and emitting a beep. As a consequence, the car following her collided with the rear end. This incident occurred on a city street at an approximate speed of 35mph, and fortunately, none of the airbags were deployed. In response to the situation, I reached out to the Honda dealership and subsequently took the car there for a inspection. Additionally, I informed American Honda about the incident.

I was driving on the highway with no cars or obstacles in front of me. The car auto brakes for me. If not because there were no car behind me, I would have been smashed by the car in the back. This have happen twice now!
Car randomly auto brakes for no reason. Sometimes when other car is parked in lane to the immediate left or across median. This has happened in multiple occasions.
I was driving around 65mph,decided to get off the exit, and the vehicle slammed on the brakes, another time a deer ran out in front of me while I was going 40mph,I hit the brake was able to keep from hitting the deer and the vehicle comtinued to brake,it has happened while the cruise control was on as well,so far it has happend 6 times, either slams on the brakes or continues to brake even after letting off the brakes,I am scared to drive it not knowing when it will happen again,it gives no notice,I have been lucky that a car has not hit me from behind….this is a serious issue that needs to be investigated and resolved, before one of my family members gets seriously hurt..
With nothing in front of me in my lane, the vehicle slammed on the brakes and I was almost rear-ended. I heard the squeal of brakes as the person behind me avoided hitting me.
Vehicle will randomly hard brake for no reason. Without warning.
When I first purchased my ‘22 Honda Odyssey a few months ago, the Apple CarPlay wouldn’t work, then the main center screen started black screening and not turning on. I took it in to the dealer and they ordered the part almost 4 weeks ago. It’s still not in. Anyways, about 2 weeks ago, my van randomly braked while I was going 70 mph on SRT. Fortunately, we didn’t get in an accident. There were no shadows, no other cars in front of us, not any reason for it to flash BRAKE and stop. My mom was next to me and yelled, “What are you doing there are cars behind us.” I said I didn’t know what was happening and started pushing on the gas to go again. I immediately took it to the dealer and told them I don’t feel safe driving it until they can fix the brake issue. The manager told me this happened to another lady in a ‘22 CRV from the same dealership, but she was on surface streets. It started w the black screening and than the random braking. Long story short, they replaced the tuner on her car and she hasn’t had issues in about 5-6 weeks. They told me to wait for the part, and while I wait, they can turn the safety features off. I said no thanks, I’ll leave it until they are sure it’s fixed. They won’t give me a loaner so I’ve been borrowing my parents’ car. I already have a case number with Honda and they don’t seem to be taking it seriously nor will they offer me a loaner. The dealer/manager has been extremely rude and has stopped responding when I ask him for updates. I am still waiting on the part to come in to fix the electronic issue.
