Automatic emergency breaking applied at 50mph on a perfectly clear road with not a single car around. Caused panic in the vehicle and would have absolutely caused severe collision if there were any cars behind. Dealer said cannot do anything without reproducible issue. Police was not called. Thanks God nobody got hurt. Not the first time this happens, it happened crossing railroads before. But this time there was absolutely nothing on the road.
When pushing the accelerator there is typically anywhere from a 2 to 5 second delay before the vehicle starts to move. On average the delay is around 2 seconds, but there have been times where trying to pull into traffic the vehicle would not move for approximately 4 to 5 seconds creating a hazard. When the care is moving at higher speeds, the acceleration and gas pedal response is accurate, this only occurs when at a stand still or at very slow speeds. I have taken the car to the dealership to be evaluated and they informed me that the vehicle is operating as it is intended to and the delay is normal. I believe that this acceleration delay is inevitably going to cause an accident because it is difficult to gauge when the care is going to begin moving due to the inconsistent acceleration issue.
Strange clicking noise during low speed steering left or right and moving steering wheel while parked. Honda dealer states they are unable to replicate issue. Issue is very unusual for a new vehicle. Multiple people have same issues on forums and Facebook groups. This is a potential safety issue if there is a faulty electrical steering gear box or suspension component. Honda needs to take responsibility and fix this issue instead of saying they can’t replicate it or that it maybe normal. I took video it is a sound that is audible inside and out.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the passenger's side front wheel. The contact stated that the sound became louder while driving over uneven pavement. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing safety issues with my leased Honda, which I obtained in March 2024. Shortly after leasing the vehicle, I noticed that the sensors would frequently activate and deactivate without any apparent reason. In May 2024, while driving, all the sensors turned on, deactivating all safety features and causing the car to swerve. The sensor lights remained on the next day, prompting me to take the car to the dealership. I was informed that the sensor and a camera required repairs, which were subsequently addressed. Despite my concerns about the safety of driving this car, especially with three children, I was assured that the issue was resolved. I filed a complaint with Honda Corporate, and they indicated that the issue would need to recur 2-3 times before considering a different vehicle. Unfortunately, on [XXX], all the sensors activated again while I was driving, causing the car to stop accelerating in the middle of a busy road with my children in the back seat. This placed us in a life-threatening situation, as other vehicles were traveling at high speeds. The transmission light also turned on, advising to avoid high speeds. The next morning, I reported the issue to Honda and arranged for roadside assistance to tow the car to the dealership. During the towing process, the sensors activated again, and the car struggled to accelerate. Once at the dealership, I provided videos of the car's behavior to Ricardo, the service advisor, who acknowledged the severity of the issue. However, he later informed me that the sensors were not currently active, and the scanner could not detect any issues. Despite keeping the car overnight for further testing, they were unable to identify or repair the problem. I was advised to either pick up the car or leave it with them, but no loaner vehicle was offered. I am extremely concerned about the safety of driving this car. 1) 2024 Honda Pilot is a 7 passenger vehicle w/2WD towing rating of 3500 pounds. With 4 people in the rows 1&2, and 4-20 lb. suitcases in the cargo area behind the 2nd row, the rear suspension has extreme negative camber on the suspension and it looks like it's weighted down with a ton of rocks in the back. This causes excessive tire wear on the inside of the rear tires.I brought this into the dealership to address, and they said that it's normal. They declined to check the alignment specs, and said that they just put a couple guys in the 2nd row and all looked normal.Must be inaccurate specs, or it has inadequate rear suspension and/or rear shocks. Why would a vehicle with 60% of the passenger/weight capacity, and with not even set up with a towing hitch, have this kind of problem? This should be investigated as we've never had this problem with our previous Honda's, or any other vehicle. 2) Since new, we have problems with the acceleration of the vehicle, primarily from a standing start. When we try to gently press on the gas peddle it surges forward like a person in a sports car trying to spin the tires. This has nothing to do with the pavement as it's dry concrete, and it is very hard to get the vehicle to move forward without spinning the front tires.Dealership says that it's normal as it just has to do with the gearing of the new 10 speed transmission and it's sensitive (huge understatement). This rapid acceleration is dangerous and can cause you to loose control, and even worse if we're driving on wet roads.I've never experienced a gas peddle/acceleration problem like this on any vehicle I've owned in 40 years, even sports cars.Drive one of these Pilot's and you'll see yourself! 3) Honda's Vehicle Data Privacy Notice is extremely unethical and should be illegal.Honda is collecting and selling it's clients personal info to third parties. They're trapping clients and compromising personal data and identity for even more money. This leads to identity theft.
Sudden collision warning displayed on dashboard and brakes were automatically applied. No vehicles in front of me and vehicle behind was sufficient distance away. There was no collision situation at all. Brake system light, collision warning light, and collision mitigation braking system problem - See your dealer displayed on dashboard. I pulled into parking a parking lot, stopped, and turned engine off. After restarting engine, error seemed to clear. Dealer review is pending.
Clicking/clunking noise when turning wheel left or right. Many complaints about this issue. Steering rack is being replaced under warranty.
My Pilot has less than 1300 miles on it and when in lower gears the transmission will rev high, hesitate, then jerk forward, at times feeling as though it’s losing power before the gear catches. Called the dealership who told me it’s normal and without any warning lights on they won’t find anything.
Sudden automatic brake was applied for no apparent reason. There was no collision situation at all. Car suddenly applied strong brake when we were driving at 40 MPH. The car came to a complete stop on a busy road, luckily for us the vehicle behind was bit far back. It was so scary.
Steering makes clicking and creaking noise after vehicle is warmed up and driving slow, like parking. Took it to Mcgraft Honda and service adviser heard the noise. Dealership then informed me that the tech could not duplicate the noise and told me it’s normal to hear noises while turning.
Several crunching noises and knocking noises when moving the steering wheel at low speeds.
When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the motor dips in RPM's then speeds up quickly. I now have 5000 miles on the vehicle and it is still happening. It's a safety hazard that the Honda Service Dept says is normal. On many quorum's, many people are complaining about the same problem. My local mechanic says that the electronic sequence of the transmission needs refreshed but has to wait for a Honda Repair Directive. Others have said that this issue is in one in three Honda Pilots with 10 speed transmissions.
When transmission is in "Normal" operating mode and starting to move, it has a hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, then the motor races and the vehicle lunges forward. I have taken it to the dealership but they said they found nothing wrong. The problem is worse when the motor is cold but it happens at any motor temperature. I have read about many, many people having this problem.
While driving in the city a warning came up on the dash stating "Supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer." and the red seat belt/air bag symbol turned on and remained on for the remainder of the drive home (about 45 min at variable speed). As soon as I got home I turned the car off and back on and the warnings disappeared. I drove the vehicle for another 30 minutes and the warnings did not re-appear. However, I noticed that the seat belts used to tighten / lock while the vehicle was in D (drive) but they no longer do. I also tried performing a hard stop in a safe area to see if the belt would lock while my body was jolted forward but it did not. The vehicle had 6 passengers when the warning first came on and all of us experienced loose belts. This makes me concerned about the functionality of the restraint system, especially in the event of a crash.
There's a grinding and clicking noise when turning the wheel left and right in a parked position and when slowing down. The dealership replaced the steering rack once already 1 year ago. Now the grinding and clicking noise is back and alot worse. The dealership is going to replace the steering rack for a second time. Spoke to Honda mechanics and told them that there must be another underlining issue.
new vehicle rough shifting from gear 1 to 2
I purchased a 2024 Honda Pilot on [XXX]. In March, between the 4th & 22nd (approx 1800 mi) I thought I saw a crack but as my vehicle had been parked in the parking structure where I live adjacent the ports of LB & LA (prone to excessive dust) & recent rain/moisture causing the dust to form into lines I figured to wait until washing before confirming. On 3/22 I confirmed a crack - no point of impact. As I had planned a vacation to Mexico I opted to photograph the crack AND the vehicle in Mexico capturing date and location stamp. I returned on 4/16. On 4/29 I took my vehicle to El Monte Honda. I let the service advisor know about the crack & upon inspection he found a 2nd crack - no point of impact. The advisor said they were scratches on the inside - 2 piece laminated. I pushed back because the visible thickness of the crack I discovered did not match the hairline feel. He convinced me that replacing the windshield could lead to other issues such as leakage - a known problem on the current generation so I asked him to note the damage - he noted a scratch. I took the vehicle but ultimately decided it wasn't fair as both were in drivers line of sight. Upon return he said the system used to communicate between the dealership and manufacturer was down and would have to come back. I called 2 months later - no return call. 9/13/24 I decide to go to local dealer (Long Beach Honda). The service advisor inspected and said he would call Honda but did not. Driving away I noted a smudge where the advisor located a crack - a 3rd crack, no point of impact. Called Honda & they said no record of me going to the dealer. Closed case. On 10/1 I returned to LB Honda with a record from 4/29 and images. He said possible glass delamination but only because a Boeing engineer reenforced stress cracks. He did not return calls nor advise Honda. Called Honda. They refuse to do anything without a diagnosis and service advisors are running away in what appears a deliberate effort. The vehicle is extremely slow to accelerate at low speeds under 20mph. There have been several near accidents due to the lack of acceleration. The recall for the fuel injector was addressed and ECM per manufacture but hasn’t solved the problem. This is dangerous for any acceleration that can cause you to get hit.
on 3/9/24 while traveling west on I10 the panoramic rooftop window shattered. Had the canvas from the sunroof been rolled back the shattered glass from the window would have come down on my husband and myself while driving 75 miles per hour. Because the glass shattered it had to be taken back to the dealer for repair. Which is still there 6/17/24. The glass was embedded in the track for the skylight. Dealer is aware of issue.
I noticed the windshield was distorted and wavy after purchasing my 2024 Elite. Honda approved the first replacement right away. The dealership claims the replacement windshield is defect free because they are annoyed with me. The replacement windshield also has rippling and distortion that is very dangerous and is completely unacceptable. Honda is suggesting I take it to another dealer. I already tried that, but was refused service because they found out I just had it at another dealership. Dealerships don’t want to get involved with this known issue by Honda. Honda does not care about customers safety and repeatedly says they can’t do anything unless the dealership confirms there is an issue! This is absurd and downright dangerous!
Every time I drive my 2024 Honda Pilot I get dizzy and a headache from the distorted windshield. This is very dangerous to drive like this everyday to my jobs.
The cargo area carpet assessing to the spare tire was soaking wet after the car driving in raining condition and go to car wash. The car already service once at the Honda dealership and they seal the cargo area gap. They said it’s manufactured defect and they need to reseal it. Water damage of trunk cargo area, cargo carpet and possibly car sensors on back of the car causing sensor malfunction. I am going to bring the car back to dealership and have them check the car again.
1: all system warnings on to include auto lights and brake system warning (there were at least 10 warnings) - auto lights stopped working 2: car would not turn off - needed to press shut off button up to 10 times 3. remote start started car and then would not shut off and locked us out of the car - was unable to get in with key fobs for over 45 minutes, finally used emergency key in the fob and somehow the back door opened and we climbed through to turn off car.
The vehicle was purchased brand new on Feb 1st 2024. While driving on the highway on Feb 5th 2024, with only 105 miles on the odometer, and no prior warning messages/lights, many warning messages were suddenly displayed on the dashboard, repeating one after the other, instructing that various safety features were disabled, displaying: "Parking brake not available", "Brake system problem", "Brake performance may be reduced", "Brake hold system problem", "Anti-lock brake system problem", "Vehicle stability assist system problem", "Reduced traction and handling", "Electric power steering system problem. Steering assist reduced", "Hill start assist problem. Vehicle may roll upon brake release", "Trailer stability assist system problem", "Hill descent control system problem", "Adaptive cruise control system problem", "Lane keeping assist system problem", "Collision mitigation braking system problem", "Road departure mitigation system problem", "Low speed braking system control problem", "Auto high beam problem", "Parking sensor problem". In addition, after coming to a full stop and shifting to Park, (or, turning off the car) the tailgate would not open regardless of how we tried (dash button, remote key, tailgate handle, foot swing). Also, the car would not turn off after pressing the On/Off button. The button would need to be pressed repeatedly to turn off the vehicle. All of these safety systems and functions were disabled at the same time without prior warning while driving at highway speeds. The Honda dealer confirmed the problem, inspected the vehicle, and concluded a faulty ABS control module is to blame. We know of one other 2024 Honda Pilot owner in our neighborhood who experienced the same issue, which makes it likely that this is a common problem. Honda should have designed redundancies to prevent sudden simultaneous failure of so many safety systems. Honda should recall all affected vehicles to replace faulty ABS control modules before people are hurt.
The windshield that is installed on my vehicle distorts the view as you look through the windshield. It warps what you see looking through the windshield. I can best describe it as looking through a funhouse mirror or looking through some strange prescription glasses. It is very distracting and has caused me to nearly get in an accident. It gives me a headache with only moments of use. I don't feel safe driving the car. It is very hard to see and judge distance in front of the vehicle. I notified the dealer, and they said Honda knows about the issue. I have been waiting on the replacement windshield for 3+ weeks as the dealer said the windshields are backordered. I am stuck paying for a car that I can't drive safely.
I bought the car on 11th of November it’s has now 8000 miles today 1/24/2024 all the check engine and warning safety lights came on i went to the Kay Honda dealership to find the problem he says u have to get appointment also I complained at the dealer whom I bought car from about the brakes is not working properly as a new car with no attention mentioning to me cause that’s a big truck so the brakes like that also complained about the axles makes noises when backing like it broken I got pics for the dash board showing the issue
Today, the same problem with my car reemerged immediately after I collected it from the dealership, where it was supposedly repaired for this issue. Upon driving away, making three stops, and using both the Brake Hold and Engine Idle-Stop features, I encountered the same malfunction, leading to the flashing of all warning indicators. Alarmingly, the parking brake engaged on its own at traffic signals, and the car wouldn't turn off even when this issue was occurring. Previously, I had provided the dealership with a detailed description and photos of this issue. They identified the cause as an improperly installed rear wheel speed sensor, which they claimed to have fixed and reset the error codes. However, the problem persisted right after I retrieved the car. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership. The car was still not turning off, and while they noted the issue, I am skeptical about their technical ability to diagnose and solve the problem effectively. I urge Honda to promptly address this issue in collaboration with the dealership and to initiate recalls to prevent potential severe accidents. To replicate the issue, toggle both the Brake Hold and Engine Idle-Stop features in various combination, and drive at a speed of 35-40 mph with 4-5 stops of around 30 seconds each toggle combination. When the issue reproduces, All the warning messages will illuminate, and the parking brake will engage automatically. I suspect the drive controller getting reset due to some electrical tripping when brake hold and/or engine-idle stop is toggled which is causing a cascade of failures.
The doors on my new Honda Pilot have an extremely sharp, hazardous, protruding edge on the lower outer corner at the bottom of the doors. The edge is so sharp, that while exiting the passenger door, it punctured my left leg in my calf on the left side of my shin bone. This required me to have 12 stitches in my leg. The laceration was very deep and exposed my then swollen bleeding inner tissue. The impact forced the outer skin underneath my intact layer of skin creating a V shape like the edge of the door. This required extra time and care to first get the buried skin out so that it could then be sewn back together. The edge was very pointed hard and sharp. There needs to be a protective covering (rounding the edge) so it won't be so sharp. Or adding additional rubber or plastic, preventing it from piercing a leg. In the photos ,it is the black protrusion that is sharp not the white metal on the door. It is a little difficult to see from the photos, but it is a hard sharp black edge that is pointed and what caused the damage to my leg.
Today, while I was driving, the vehicle information display suddenly started flashing warnings indicating that the following systems were experiencing errors, leading to potentially reduced brake performance. I was advised to take the car to the dealer for diagnosis and immediate remediation: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Hill Start Assist Lane Departure and Correction Assist Brake Hold System However, when we stopped and attempted to turn off the car in the usual manner, it wouldn't shut down. It took two attempts to finally turn off the car. The indicators began flashing again when the car was restarted, but after turning off the car again and waiting for 10 minutes, then restarting it, the warning messages disappeared. I managed to take pictures of at least two warnings as they were displayed on the vehicle information screen: Hill Start Assist and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). This is a brand new car, and it's concerning to encounter such issues with only 1,215 miles on the odometer. I request that the NHTSA investigate this matter with Honda’s manufacturing to ensure these problems are clarified and rectified before they lead to any accidents.
The wheel speed sensor has malfunctioned. Warning lights, messages, and alarms displayed that multiple safety features were not working and that the dealer needed to be contacted. Some of the messages included: Parking Brake System Failure, Cruise Control System Failure, Vehicle Stability Failure, Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Auto High-Beam Problem, etc... The warnings first appeared on January 8, 2024. The Pilot was taken into the Honda dealership on January 9, 2024. It remains there with no definite time for the problem to be resolved.
On December 14, 2023 I noticed there was an orange spot and several smaller orange areas that appeared under the clearcoat on my front bumper. I was unable to remove them through hand washing and waxing. I decided to take it in to two local body shops who pointed out to me that the fender was misaligned. After further review we found paint peeling and cracking on and under the hood as well as the painted area around the engine components. In addition, seam filler was left exposed on the roof in multiple spots, not prepped correctly, and just painted over. The pin stripe installed by the dealership was also peeling off. Furthermore, the hood was painted (twice as thick) and other painted panels had a different paint thickness. I contacted the selling dealer directly (missed during PDI), and my nearest dealership to report these issues and to start case with Honda for a resolution.
Crackling/clicking noises coming from steering rack after the vehicle has warmed up and driven for 10-20 mins. Noises are more noticeable when driving at slow speeds and when pulling in/out of parking spaces. The electric steering rack in my vehicle has been replaced twice under warranty and these noises have reappeared approximately 1-2 months after each repair/replacement event which suggests a design/manufacturing defect with this part. There is no known technical service bulletin of this issue. The short and long-term effects of this defect are not publicly known and may pose a safety hazard. From research and discussions in online forums, this appears to be common problem with 4th generation honda pilots which started in model year 2023.
I bought my 2024 Honda Pilot two weeks ago, it only has 300 miles and suddenly all the warnings indicating system failures were activated, engine check, lane assist, emergency braking, emission system, etc., it almost didn't start, it left me in road. It is not possible that something practically new is failing like that with two weeks of use and only 300 miles, that is not right, it is putting lives in danger. honda has to solve that
Bought this brand new 2024 Honda pilot touring model on Oct 2023, the issue starts showing after driving it for only couple of hundreds miles, there is a very distinctive and constant loud popping and cracking noise coming out from the speakers while driving, no matter if the audio volume is set to high or low or zero or even when music player is turned off, looked it up online and found out it is a very common problem for Honda for years now, and it is not just for the pilot lineup, it also affects their other models like Passport & Odyssey, It has something to do with the wiring process and improperly manufactured terminal of the FAKRA connector for the infotainment system. They have service bulletin (#23-047 & #23-046) and safety recall for the previous year models, but not for 2024 Honda pilot yet, I think this issue affect safety because the popping & cracking sound is loud enough to distracting driver while they are driving to the point they cannot 100% focused on the road. And I'm sure my vehicle is not the only unlucky car for the 2024 Honda Pilot model, I hope Honda address this issue as soon as possible, and also please prevent this from happing in the future, this is not my first Honda car, I hope this will not be my last one.
I was driving down the road and my sunroof exploded. It was random and there was no debris around. I had my cover closed so no glass fell into the car. Looking at the sunroof it appears as if it exploded up.
