I went to fill my vehicle with gasoline on 02/06/2025. The 2018 Honda Ridgeline has a capless fuel system to enter fuel into the vehicle and there are two flaps that the gasoline nozzle is required to open. It repeatedly attempted to insert the nozzle and the first flap would not move. I pushed harder, and the first flap broke. I still could not insert the nozzle to get gasoline into my vehicle. I then observed a block of ice preventing the nozzle from accessing the second flap. I could not remove the ice to put gas in my vehicle. On 02/07/2025, the temperature rose above freezing and I was able to mop out the water from the area, however my capless system was broken at this time. I brought it to the local Honda dealership and they were able to repair the damaged component, however charged me for this repair as they contended there were no recalls on this issue and the vehicle is out of warranty. I went on the internet and found in several consumer forums that people have cited this to be an issue with the Ridgeline and other Honda vehicles. I am unclear how Honda could manufacture a vehicle component that allows water to collect at the entrance to the gas tank which could cause a myriad of engine issues as well as the ice issue which would prevent being able to put gasoline in the vehicle.
The referenced Recall for my Honda Ridgeline indicates that the fuel pump is suspect for an inadequate impeller and a possible safety problem. I have been awaiting this replacement part at least 8 months and the original recall has a date of December 18, 2023 which is over a year since identified. I have visited the dealership several times over the last six months and have been assured that I am on the "list" to receive a new fuel pump. The service department informed me on January 7, 2025 that they still have not received the fuel pump from you. The latest recall notice informed me pumps are available, but as you see in the previous paragraph I am not able to get the pump at present. Please expedite the delivery of the new improved fuel pump to the Honda dealership in Maui (Island Honda, 110 Hana Hwy, Kahului, HI 96732) to resolve this long overdue corrective action for my Honda Ridgeline truck

Honda recall on fuel pump from February 2024 has not been corrected due to Honda failing to supply part to local dealer for repair. I have concerns of the fuel pump failing while driving and have made multiple calls to Honda asking for the repair. Honda reply is that when the part is available they will notify. Six months is a long time to wait on a defect that could have serious consequence.

The fuel pump recall was issued in December 2023 and it still hasn't been repaired. It is almost a year later and when I have tried to contact the dealer and the company about the status of the recall, I don't get a response.

After a recent Fuel Injector service last week, there is a strong smell of gasoline both in and out of my vehicle. Honda Service technicians report they cannot find the issue and there are no Codes reported upon diagnostic check. However the smell remains and fuel gage needle falls closer to E when the vehicle is parked a few days.

The cap-less fuel system accumulates water and can freeze. I have no way of adding fuel to my vehicle until the weather warms up or I find a way to break the ice up
ON 06/05/20, 15:37 I FUELED MY RIDGELINE AT RACEWAY # 6953 IN ALACHUA, FL 32616, PUMP 1. WHEN IT CAME TIME TO REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE FROM THE CAPLESS FILL SPOUT, IT WOULD NOT COME OUT! I TRIED FOR A FEW MINUTES TO NO AVAIL WHEN THE YOUNG GUY WHO WAS AT THE NEXT PUMP WAS OBSERVING MY SITUATION. HE CAME OVER AND TRIED WITH NO LUCK TO REMOVE IT. FORTUNATELY HE HAD A FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER WITH HIM. IT TOOK HIM A FEW MINUTES OF PRYING THE CAP AT THE MOUTH OF THE FILL SPOUT UPWARDS ALSO TURNING THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE SIDE TO SIDE. WE FINALLY TURNED THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE 180 DEGREES AND WERE ABLE TO FREE THE PUMP NOZZLE FROM THE FILL SPOUT ON THE HONDA. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD SITUATION TO BE IN NOR WAS IT SAFE TO BE PRYING WITH A SCREWDRIVER ON THE METAL FILL SPOUT COVER AT THE MOUTH OF A FULL TANK OF GAS! I WOULD APPRECIATE THAT HONDA WILL PROVIDE ME AND OTHER OWNERS WITH A FIX FOR FUELING OUR TRUCKS, SO THAT THIS DOES NOT EVER HAPPEN AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY AS YOU REQUESTED TO BE STATED WITH THIS COMPLAINT. MY GUESS, THEIR WAS/IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FILL SPOUT CAP AND THE SPRING ON THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A MISCALCULATION BY HONDA OR THE FUEL PUMP MFG. OR BOTH REGARDS, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
IN FREEZING WEATHER I AM UNABLE TO REFUEL MY 2018 RIDGELINE BECAUSE THE FUEL NOZZLE WILL NOT INSERT INTO THE FILLER NECK DUE TO ICE BUILD UP IN THE CAP-LESS FUEL SHUTTER IN THE FILLER NECK. I HAVE CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND MY LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO MAKE REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS ANYTIME THERE IS MOISTURE IN THE CAP-LESS FUEL FILLER APPARENTLY BECAUSE THE FUEL DOOR DOES NOT KEEP MOISTURE AND WATER OUT. THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN MOISTURE OR WATER IS PRESENT UNTIL IT IS TIME TO REFUEL AND THE CAP-LESS FUEL CAP IS FROZEN SHUT. EVEN WITH A T.S.B. WRITTEN BY AMERICAN HONDA AND RECOGNIZED BY THE N.H.T.S.A. HONDA HAS REFUSED REPAIR AND DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO PROVIDE PRINTED DOCUMENTATION OF THIS PROBLEM. WITHOUT INDOOR (GARAGE) STORAGE HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MELT ICE BUILD-UP IN THE FUEL FILLER NECK? HONDA RIDGELINE OWNERS NEED RELIEF FROM AMERICAN HONDA.
