Vehicle flashes automatic emergency braking sign on dashboard when it is confused by oncoming traffic in the other lane.
After a 2 1/2 drive (interstate, 75 mph on cruise contral, eco button not on), I took the exit to go home. Immediately after going from cruise to normal driving, the check engine light flashed and as I pushed down on the accelerator there was no power. The engine would rev up to 4000 rpm but would not go over 30 mph and would not shift. Once I got on the more level area of the road I did nurse it back to 55 but still very little power and the engine was struggling. I then stopped at a stop light and the engine shuddered when i tried to accelerate again, no power. Made it to a gas station, turned off the vehicle, filled the tank, then restarted, the engine ran just fine. Took it to the Honda dealership the same day and they were unable to find any codes on the computer and were unable to re-simulate what happened to the engine.
I was driving 2 hours on highway trip (65mph) using cruise control. (20 degrees, light flurries, dry road, windy.) I then slowed to make left turn from the center turn lane. While beginning to cross oncoming lane while making the left turn, the vehicle suddenly lost power and check engine light started flashing. No prior warning to power loss. I barely cleared oncoming traffic, limped to shoulder, and parked. Problem was confirmed at dealership. The issue is known to Honda (also on past models). The dealer also confirmed there's still no fix/recall and that this typically happens in cold weather. The possibility of continued sudden power loss without a recall/repair is alarming and a serious safety issue. Service invoice stated: "Customer states the check engine light came on and power was lost. No DTC's were stored. Due to regional weather circumstances moisture will accumulate in the intake manifold. The water then will drain from the intake into the cylinders causing a misfire."
The auto high beams do not work with any consistency. They don't come when they should or will turn off because of a reflection from a road sign. Sometimes, they will activate right before a car passes you which causes that driver to flash me and now we both can't see! I can't believe Honda would allow this poor excuse of a feature to pass inspection!
Passenger airbag is indicated to remain on when no one is in the passenger seat. The airbag off light comes on during warning light check but then shuts off and remains off. I do not confidence that the accurate weight is being accounted for when a passenger is in the front seat.
I have been getting recall notices and each time I've called (beginning of the recall and just now dec 11th) My Honda location has told me Honda has not released the the parts yet another notice will be sent to advise when they will be available for repair. This is very frustrating as I have time now for the repair to be done and I'm not always available for this process , so nothing has been on a timely manner as this has been ongoing for months and months now. I've not had any accidents YET!
On more than one occasion, the Forward Collision Warning System and Emergency Braking System on my 2023 Honda Ridgeline activated when there was no obstacle. These incidents have occurred since new. Normally, the false activation causes my vehicle to flash the "brake" warning on the instrument cluster, the steering wheel to shake, and the brakes to be gently applied. However, one time a false activation occurred while I was turning within a busy intersection. This false activation caused my vehicle to suddenly brake to a complete stop. Thankfully there were no vehicles behind me.
The automatic High Beams have been a issue with the Ridgeling since 2021. I have a 2023 Ridgeline and live in a area where properly working high beams are needed to work properly. Honda's dealerships have no answers to this problem, and some of the service writers aren't even aware of it. This is a defect in this vehicle that needs to be addressed. Please contact Honda and make the repair this defect
I was on [XXX] and turned into [XXX] . I was driving at 25 miles or so. I don't know if my first or second tire flat first but immediately after my airbags at right and left front and back side got deployed and created a little fire and thick black smoke. I got shock, panicked and lost control for second and hit right front wheel trim of car to probably edge of road. I called Honda Road services to tow my car to nearest Honda services. They told me that a Tower would come over to take care of me in 120 minutes and take my car to Chantilly Honda services. Unfortunately they didn’t show up for 3 hours. I stayed outside in cold weather for 3 hours. Thankfully Police came over and saw the situation and he was really surprised with defectiveness of my car airbags. so He had to call Tow company that works for Police department to get my car to the nearest Honda services. I called Landmark Honda and told them the situation. Landmark Honda wanted me to bring my car to Landmark Alexandria instead of nearest Honda services in Chantilly. I towed my Truck to Alexandria. I paid for towing although they were supposed to pay. I talked to Honda headquarter in California but they didn't care about what i said. I could die lose my limbs or hurt other people. I am a Home improvement Contractor. I had to postpone my appointments with my new clients since then. i have no car and I have been losing business. I kindly ask you to help me with this issue. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The auto dimming feature on headlights fails to function. When the high beams are in use, they will not dim when approaching an oncoming vehicle. Conversely, when they are on low beam, they do not switch to high beam setting when it is totally dark outside and no cars are approaching. This fault was not disclosed during initial test drive and the dealerships only explanation is that they are sorry, but it can’t be fixed.
2023 RLT, about 1300 miles on the odometer, temperature was between 4 and 7 degrees F, it was a sunny day with clear roads. I drop 68mph for 70 miles, stopped to make a left turn, and when accelerating through the turn, the blinking orange check engine light came on and the vehicle would not accelerate beyond about 35 mph. I was towed to the nearest dealership from the location of the incident, which occurred over 400 miles from my home. It could have been fatal if there was traffic I had to merge with at the time when the engine was not allowing enough power. It happened at noon in a very small town in North Dakota. It could also have been fatal if it had happened in an area with no cell service and no traffic to stop and help as well. Thank goodness I didn't have any children with me and there was somewhere warm to wait the 2 hours for the tow truck. I found an online Honda Ridgeline owners forum where many, many people have reported this same issue: cold temperatures, going highway speeds for a certain amount of time, slowing down or stopping, and then trying to speed up to highway speeds again when the check engine light comes on and the engine limps. The Honda dealership where my vehicle was towed confirmed that I was subject to this "very rare glitch" that they know about and say there is nothing they can do to fix it and no assurances that it won't happen again. I'm not sure how to regain trust in a brand new pickup that I know has this issue that I have experienced first hand in the cold and could experience again that might result in a fatal outcome if Honda doesn't fix this known issue.
2023 Ridgeline auto dim not working properly. Will high beam on coming cars, will not brighten when they should and if they do brighten they only stay on for a few seconds then dim for no reason.
The "auto dimmers" do not work. I have had it to the deal several times and they admit that Honda has a problem with them. They tell me they are working as designed and it is not the best design. The service team is now going to switch out vehicles with me to see if they are working 'as designed". The service team has told me to just turn them off and do it manually. To me that is NOT the solution. But they were totally honest with me, telling me they do not work but not until after I purchased the Ridgeline. If I knew this I would have went to another manufacturer. Very disappointed in Honda. And equally disappointed in the service saying just turn them off.
My steering locked up while moving at a very low speed (<5mph) and turning my wheel (not all the way). Voltage in the vehicle dropped (HVAC speed and lighting). A yellow caution/warning blipped for a second on the dash. I would not normally submit an issue like this but if this had happened at high speed, going down the road, the results could be catastrophic. I have seen the HVAC fan speed drop before while turning the wheel but never the steering lockup. This only happened once on Tuesday Night 1/2/24 at 11pm. This was not just the Power steering stopping working where i could overcome the turning with strength, it was locked up hard for less than a second (like the security steering solenoid engaging). This has to be a huge safety issue!!! I brought this to the dealer and the battery cable was loose. Since tightening the cable the issues has not re-occurred. I think that even with a loss of power/voltage, the steering should not lock up while the vehicle is moving. Please investigate.
The Ridgeline is unsafe with the mirror tilting and moving when in reverse. Mirrors need to be adjusted every time I go in reverse. EVERYTIME. This is unsafe as the mirror not only fails to stay static or wherever I adjust it to. It drops down (the mirror) every time I put the truck in reverse. The Ridgeline is unsafe when I back up, the mirrors move and distort and defeat the whole purpose of a mirror rendering it ineffective and a huge safety hazard. The Ridgeline is unsafe when the truck lunges forward when placing in park, after reverse. I suppose it is trying to get the mirror back to the Orginal position which needs to be adjusted back every-time. The mirror is not static. When placing in drive after reverse the lunge is not only jarring to my neck and back, it is completely unsafe. In my lay opinion what I think is happening is the truck’s computer is waiting for the mirrors to return to their position, but then are out of focus requiring me to pull over to readjust the mirror every time I back up. This is extremely unsafe especially in tight environments like parking spaces (backing out. Parking. Adjusting mirror to correct and safe position. Then proceeding with my trip). This is impractical in some situations and thus ineffectual in all others. Coupled with a wiring harness failure in cold temps for mirror, cameras are ineffective as well. I live in Minnesota and we have extreme winters. The harness issue is a previously recalled issue. But it is only compounded by these other issues.
Auto high beam feature turns on and off even when there are no oncoming vehicles. The feature is unreliable and dangerous. Vehicle purchased on 22 Dec 2023. Previous vehicle was a 2019 Ridgeline where this feature worked perfectly.
While driving home, my Brand New 2023 Honda Ridgeline's, with 3,350 miles, transmission's warning light popped up and my transmission when into N while on the highway, I was on the fast lane, while I started noticing the lack of power coming out of the transmission. I almost hit several cars and almost got killed by a 18 wheeler because by the time I managed to reach the emergency lane, I was doing 35 miles on a 65 zone, highway. My truck got stuck in P till I removed the terminals from the battery and reset the system. The truck was available to be put on D, but now the gears are bouncing and the truck accelerate by itself while braking almost collating with the vehicle in front of me. Honda can not replicate the problem and says it is fine. I AM WORRY TO KILL SOMEONE ON THE ROAD FOR HONDA'S 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION.
Three times we have been driving the vehicle on a steep grade when the vehicle lurches forward in a short accelerated sortie.
I own a 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E The Auto High-Beam Headlights do not work. It barely worked the first week, but since then it has not worked. I've had it into the dealer, they say nothing is wrong. Reports online show this is a common issue with Honda Ridgelines since 2020 and has not been addressed.
Automatic high beams do not dim consistently when approaching oncoming traffic. Honda has tried twice to fix the problem but it persists. They said they have no fix and I just have to turn off that feature. I have video that is available on YouTube. The Auto High Beam functionality is erratic and dangerous. The high beams go off unexpectedly when needed. The high beams come on unexpectedly when there are close oncoming vehicles blinding these drivers and causing a road rage potential. This is a common complaint on the Honda Ridgeline forum. I made both our dealer and Honda USA aware of this problem weeks after I purchased this truck and repeatedly every time I have taken it to dealer for routine maintenance.
Loss of motive power. Temperature 35 f. Exited interstate after 2 hours of 70 mph. Upon exit, check engine light began flashing and power was diminished severely. After shutting vehicle down and letting it cool, it was normal. Dealer was unable to replicate the problem. Dealer says that it is an issue known to Honda, caused by condensation in the intake manifold in cold weather. Dealer says that Honda has been unable to solve. This could be very dangerous.
The auto start/stop feature has a delay before restarting the engine after full stop in traffic. This delay is dangerous. If you don't anticipate the slight delay before pressing gas pedal to move through traffic your timing is slightly impaired by this delay. All Honda vehicles seem to be experiencing this delay and are reporting and complaining about it.
While driving the vehicle, the codes related to the following systems all began flashing: Automatic Emergency Braking Lane Departure Warning Lane Keeping Assistance My 17-year-old daughter, a new driver, was driving the vehicle at the time and became concerned, distracting her from concentrating on the road. The next day when my husband went to check the car, now the check engine lights were now lit. I just brought this, less than one-year-old vehicle back to the dealership. I was advised the capless gas tank was broken and not closing properly. I am not sure why this should malfunction after less than one year of driving. I do not know if this causes fuel to escape if the tank is not properly closing, thus possibly causing a safety concern. This is in addition to the auto-restart recall that occurred on the car which we had repaired, but they will not perform the warranty extension for the auto-restart issue unless it actually strands my new driver in the middle of the road after stopping.
Auto-restart system has a warranty extension, but the dealer will not perform the repair until after the Honda Ridgeline has the problem occur at least once, thus placing the driver and any passengers in danger. This system did malfunction in our other Honda vehicle with the same warranty extension. When that occurred, it left us stranded in the middle of a six-lane road where we had stopped at a light and could not restart the vehicle. Several cars almost ran into us. Our 17-year-old daughter drives this vehicle and I do not want to wait until this major threat occurs to have Honda repair it. I filed a complaint with Honda, and they advised me they would do nothing and that I should file a complaint with the NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that the 4WD system became inoperable. The contact stated that the antifreeze was not suitable for the area he lived. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer, who stated that the antifreeze would thicken below 35 degrees. The contact was informed that the engine would not produce enough power to move thicker coolant throughout the engine. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned about being stranded. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 1,400.
The truck makes a metallic clicking noise when accelerating and letting off accelerator pedal. I have taken the Truck to the dealership and they believe it is some sort of subframe issue. They aren’t sure where it is coming from or what is causing it. Their guess is some sort of manufacturing error when installing subframe.
My name is [XXX] , and my wife and I own a 2023 Honda Ridgeline that we purchased in October 2023. The automatic headlight dimming function has not worked properly since purchasing. The automatic function is very erratic. The lights will not automatically brighten when on a really dark road, and at times have switched to high beam within 100 feet of meeting another vehicle and remain bright. The function also switches from bright to dim very frequently when driving down the road and no other vehicles around. The lights also switch erratically when going past a road sign, reflector pole, lights at a house you may be passing, etc. My big concern is the lights switching to high beam while approaching another vehicle. I can't count the times this has happened. I have taken our Ridgeline back to Gary Force Honda in Bowling Green, Kentucky where we purchased it. The service advisor that assisted us stated that Honda knows of the problem, however, there is no fix. I inquired about a safety recall for this problem and the gentleman acted as though it was no big deal. It probable isn't a big deal until a deadly accident occurs because of a malfunctioning system. I even mentioned that I expect more especially when you spend $48,000 for a vehicle. Again, the service advisor acted as though his hands are tied. Needless to say, we left the dealership with the same problem that took us in. Attached is a picture taken at approximately 1830 hrs on [XXX] on our isolated road with no street lights, street signs or anything to cause a problem. As you will see, the lights will not switch to bright on this dark road. Please help!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
As stated earlier, The GPS does not work properly. Its voice command system does not work. This causes the driver to manually put the information in and causes the driver to take eyes off the road. Second, the charging pad does not work. In both incidences, I am told Honda has no repair. They do not seem to care. Hundreds of other owners, of all Honda vehicles are having the same problem. A recall is needed and fines need to be accessed.
At times when traffic in opposite lane coming at me on 2 lane road the auto brake system is activated and telling me to apply the brakes. Also, at times the lane departure system will not activate if I drift over into the opposite lane of traffic.
Auto high beams are too sensitive and cause a safety concern as driver is not able to read street signs and visibility is impaired. Constant light changes are also distraction to oncoming traffic.
Wireless Charger Doesn't Work with or without a case on my Samsung 22 Ultra (which works on every other of the 4 wireless chargers I have). So I just purchased the 23 RTL-E on 09/28/23. Upon taking possession of the vehicle, got in adjusted and began setting things up to my liking. I went to place my phone on the equipped charging mat and after some shifting and repositioning, the phone began to charge w/ the case on. That lasted all of about 4-10 seconds. After fiddling w/ it for a few more minutes, no luck. Finally, I decided to remove the case and same thing, it only charged 4-10 secs.Ive also tried my sons Iphone 14, both with and without the case, same thing over and over again. Dealership said there was no know issues w the wireless charging unit. However I have found numerous complaints of the same issue online.
With headlights set to “auto”, the high beams will intermittently turn on and off even when the headlight switch is not pushed forward to activate high beams. When headlight switch is in the high beam position and set to “auto”, the high beams will not deactivate with on coming traffic. Both scenarios could blind on coming traffic potentially causing a collision. No No Vehicle purchased used on 9/9/23 first appeared on 9/23/23.
Wireless charger not working.
Issues with front beams high and low auto dimming
Auto high beams won't activate until I reach 45 MPH and they while driving high beams continue to turn on and off with no other autos near me. This condition is not reliable and makes it difficult to drive at night
Multiple issues that are safety concerns. 1. The lane mitigation system or forward collision warning system. These has been a constant problem from date of purchase. A. repeated warning flashes on dash when driving on any type of road with a slight curve or a standard turn, also two lane roads causes terrible warning on the dash as well. Very distracting! 2. The adaptive cruise control performs a hard brake/ing when another driver enters into my lane (in front of me) which causes other drivers entering into or following me to also make evasive maneuvers to avoid hitting my vehicle. People think I'm brake checking them. Constant problem and is a serious safety issue. 3. This is also a huge problem and can cause the police to be citing me for a distracted driver violation. My infotainment system has connectivity issue and is very distracting which is a safety issue. example: If I can get my phone connected correctly (constant connectivity issues typically at start up) while driving the infotainment system disconnects randomly and typically will not reconnect unless I stop my vehicle and turn it off so to reset the system. I am a CDL driver and touching or operating an electronic device (cell phone) will cause me to be cited by the police department, this has distracting me regularly. Honda is unwilling to do a software update to remedy these problems and I am gracefully asking for your help. We have spent 46K on a vehicle so we can have these safety features and this vehicle as been the opposite of safe. Super distracting and stressful to drive. I have spoken to the dealership four separate times about these issues but I recently found out by Honda that only one did the dealership document my concerns.
2nd time to Honda of Covington for the passenger door will not manually unlock or open with inside door handle UNLESS you push the electric unlock button 1st. [XXX] , the service writer, said it was a safety feature and wrote it on my repair order and hasn’t had the service manager come out to the vehicle with me as requested as this is a safety problem, loose battery power and your passenger cannot get out. I showed [XXX] a memo I found on this site saying that Honda wants all reports of this problem sent to them, [XXX] won’t acknowledge the report. I am making myself a nuisance and now [XXX] said someone will call me Monday August 21st. I called Honda and they said, “we have no reports of this problem but will give you a case number”. That number is [XXX]. I don’t understand why no one cares? If we get in a wreck and loose battery power the passenger door will not open and one can only hope my wife is not injured to the point where she can’t crawl over the center console to exit on the driver’s side. Automatic high beam head lights have not work properly ever since I bought the Honda in oct 2022.
Please note that I am a Deaf customer. My primary language is American Sign Language (ASL) and English written is my secondary language. Thank you for understanding. I just bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline on June 6th, 2023. The "Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem" error message in the dash has been the problem and appeared many times. I sent it back to the dealership, which was the third time, and the power window master switch was replaced on July 19th, 2023, but it still has not been resolved yet. I made an appointment with the dealership on Monday, July 31st, 2023, which will be 4th attempt. I am tired of it. It is very annoying. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance with this matter.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the high-beam headlights illuminated extremely bright, causing a blinding affect for other drivers. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the camera sensor was faulty, causing the high-beam headlights to fail to deactivate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50.
Auto high beams do not function correctly. They often do not turn on.
Auto high beams do not correctly switch from low and high beams ALSO, the QI wireless charger doesn't work with my iPhone 14 plus
Auto High-Beams not operating as designed. The auto-high beams works very intermittently as on very non lighted dark roads they will come on and shut causing a flickering effect while driving. This is a very well known issue starting with the 2022 model year. The sensor camera for the auto-high beams are defective. This can blindness to on coming driver’s/vehicle temporarily.
When traveling at night the high beams will not stay on...they flicker on and off at random intervals
The Engine Auto Idle Stop system causes the vehicle to intermittently drift backward (without power) for 1-2 seconds, until restart, when at certain types of intersections (extremely minimal incline or near-level intersections). This has caused numerous unsafe situations during normal driving involving the backward drift. Furthermore, the drift and restart delay cause significant hesitation during intended acceleration attempts at the described intersections. The drift has potential to cause a collision with catastrophic injury to a trailing vehicle, and the restart delay can cause a collision with catastrophic injury at intersections. The dealer and manufacturer have both had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle and report it is operating "as designed." The only message is the illuminated green engine idle stop light that activates when the engine is stopped.
the auto high beam system is overly sensitive. lights flicker when a street sign is detected. dealer checked this issue and said the door switch was bad and replaced it. problem still exists. this makes night driving distracting and dangerous. no warning lamps or messages are shown on instrument panel.
I purchased a rear pickup cover. I used it without problems. I took the top off and stored it in my garage. When I put it back on, I noticed nothing wrong. When I went to open the cover to put garbage bags in the rear bed, I found the first part of the tri-top did not open correctly. I took it to 2 dealers when I was told the cover could not be repaired and there were no replacement parts. I have contacted Honds USA and they refuse to do anything about this $1000 part. I want my top replaced. This was a new top, not a used one.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the tonneau cover detached from the bed of the truck. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the brackets used to hold the cover were defective. The tonneau cover was not replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer offered to replace the tonneau cover. The failure mileage was 2,100.
Vehicle is equipped with auto dimming headlights. The system is way too sensitive and dims headlights on reflected road signs and distant street lights. Honda says it is working properly. It is basically worthless and very distracting because when driving through a neighborhood with no other cars around it dims and brightens constantly. Honda says there is no way to adjust sensitivity! Previously I believe you could. 2020 Ridgelines worked perfectly?
