There are 3 owner-reported powertrain & transmission complaints for the 2024 Honda Ridgelinein NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
The vehicle’s engine and powertrain management system repeatedly fails with multiple DTC's triggering a full-system cascade of safety-critical warnings and automatic power-limiting. The issue affects the engine, transmission, emissions, AWD, brake system, stability assist, steering assist, ABS/VSA, hill-start assist. The vehicle is fully available for inspection upon request. During each failure, the vehicle abruptly enters reduced-power “limp mode” without warning—resulting in loss of engine power, disabled AWD, and disables all safety/stability systems. These events have occurred in normal traffic, including at red lights and in intersections, creating a risk of rear-end collisions, inability to accelerate, and loss of vehicle control. I transport an autistic child, making reliability and predictable vehicle behavior critical to passenger safety as well. The problem has been reproduced and documented by multiple authorized Honda dealerships. The vehicle has now undergone 13 repair attempts in the first 14 months of ownership, across 6 different Honda dealerships. All have been unable to diagnose or permanently repair the defect. The vehicle has been repeatedly inspected by Honda technicians, who escalated the issue to Honda Tech Line. Tech Line documents (dated 10/1/25) show that no aftermarket modifications exist and that the failure is verified but intermittent and ongoing. Warning Lamps / Symptoms: Each failure event triggers a full dashboard sweep including: – AWD System Problem – Emissions System Problem – Transmission System Problem – Power Steering System Problem – Vehicle Stability Assist Problem – Hill Start Assist Problem – Brake System Warning – Road Departure Mitigation Problem – Blind Spot Information System Problem There is a federal lawsuit filed filed in Oregon District court case 6:25-cv-02142-AP
Ocean Honda of Hanover had leased me this vehicle with a safety recall not repaired.I drove the car up to Washington Mountain in NH with my family without knowing the vehicle had a safety recall. Approximately 8 days after the day of I leased the vehicle the seller contacted me asking to take the vehicle back to the dealership to repair a safety recall , I immediately went to the dealership and left the vehicle there they told me to come back on next day and I did but they returned the car back to me without repair and said if I have any problems to contact them I asked them if it have been fixed and he said he didn’t change anything and told I could have the vehicle back it was fine ,they called me again on 08/13/24 asking for take the vehicle back to the dealership again to repair the safety recall and I told them they can come get the vehicle at my address I’m very scared to drive it again now that I know there is a safety issue and also I didn’t have anyone to drive me back I also had missed work on first time that I had left the vehicle there for supposed repair on 08/08/24. They didn’t pickup the vehicle on 08/17/24 I called and said they are going to contact me on Monday(08/19/2024) .They contact me on Monday(08/19/24)asking for me leave the car there but as I asked to talk to the manager he offered me a rental car I accepted because I needed a truck to work but they sent one guy with a SUV and I refused the rental but I told them they could take the truck to repair the recall but they didn’t get it , I called them on Wednesday (08/20/24) to see if I can get my money back and return the vehicle since the vehicle was under recall before the lease I also found the Inspection on the gloves compartment and the final inspection is not completed .I haven’t drive the vehicle since I found out about the safety recall and I’m feeling very anxious about it for the fact I drove in the highest mountain of New England (Mount Washington-NH)with my 2 kids in the car .
The vehicle went into neutral while I was driving at 40 mph. It then started showing errors on the gauge cluster. It said something about do not drive vehicle, transmission issue, see dealer. I took it to the dealer and all they did was clear the codes and give it back to me. I'm not comfortable with this since I was stopped in the middle of traffic on a 5 lane road at rush hour. It was very unsafe and I'm afraid it may happen again.
