DT: 2004 GMC HUMMER THE CONSUMER STATES HE HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP AND THE BRAKES WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM HIMSELF AND IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. HE FEELS IT WILL NOT STOP IN TIME DURING AN EMERGENCY. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE BRAKES FAIL EVERY TIME THE CONSUMER NEEDS TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP. *NM
DISC BRAKE ROTORS NOT MACHINED TO LEGAL SPECIFICATIONS. APPROXIMATELY 40% OF ROTORS FACE WERE STILL ROUGH CASTING, THIS CAUSED ROUGH BRAKING AND EARLY BRAKE PAD FAILURE. DEALER AND GM REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, CLAIMED THEY WERE OK. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT FOR THEIR LACK OF CONCERN. STATE INSPECTION REQUIRES 100% CLEAN UP OF MACHINED SURFACE ON ROTORS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DO SO. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. *AK
DT: POWER STEERING LEAKS; NO WARNING NOTICE ( NO LIGHTS CAME ONE IN THE VEHICLE ON INDICATING THAT THE FLUID WAS LOW. THE PEOPLE WHO TOWED THE VEHICLE SAID IF SHE HAD LOST CONTROL SHE WOULD NOT HAD BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PS WOULD HAVE GONE OUT ON THE VEHCILE. HAD IT IN 8 OR 9 TIMES FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HUMMER H2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING STEADY RAINFALL, WATER SEEPS THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD HANDLE BAR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. ON A PREVIOUS OCCASION, THE WATER SHORTED OUT THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING FAILURE WITH THE MOTHERBOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WATER ALSO ENTERS THROUGH THE REAR HEADLINER. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED ON ELEVEN OCCASIONS. THE HANDLE BAR ISSUE HAS BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE REAR HEADLINER STILL LEAKS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
FRONT WHEEL LINKAGE FAILURE, WHEEL FELL OFF. MY BROTHER AND I NEARLY DIED TODAY FROM AN ACCIDENT IN MY MOTHERS H2. WE HAD JUST LEFT A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WERE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT SEEMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BROKE FREE. THE H2 VIOLENTLY SWERVED TO THE LEFT AND EVEN THOUGH I AM A BIG GUY IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THAT 6000 LBS BEAST FROM SWERVING. I HIT THE BRAKES BUT THOSE DIDN'T SEEM TO HELP SINCE THE BRAKES WERE STILL ATTACHED TO THE WHEEL WHICH I COULD SEE WAS BEHIND US FROM THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR. THE H2 TORE THROUGH THE OPPOSITE LANE AND SLAMMED US INTO A DITCH CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE. I CAN ONLY THANK GOD THAT WE WERE FINE AND THAT THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME. THE BRAKING OFF OF THE WHEEL CAUSED MAJOR WHEEL WELL AND FENDER DAMAGE. THE FORCE OF THE WHEEL SLAMMING INTO THE WELL SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD AND BROKE THE SIDE STEP. I HAD DIFFICULTY OPENING THE DOOR TO GET OUT BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE. WHEN I GOT OUT I SAW THAT THE WHEEL WAS ABOUT 10 FEET BEHIND US. THERE WERE SEVERAL SUSPENSION PIECES STILL CONNECTED TO IT. THE POLICE OFFICER HAD A HARD TIME BELIEVING MY STORY, BUT THAT IS EXPECTED FROM THEM, THE REAL PAINFUL THING IS THAT MY MOTHER WONT BELIEVE ME EITHER. I HAVE READ OF SEVERAL CASES LIKE THIS. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY ACCIDENT, NOTHING IS WORSE THAN LOOSING ALL CONTROL OF A VEHICLE WITH A LOVED ONE INSIDE, KNOWING THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT PERSON. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE STEERING KNUCKLE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 H2 HUMMER. I WAS ON A DEEP SLOPE HILL. I WAS BACKING UP AND I HIT A 500 SERIES MERCEDEZ ON HIS LEFT BUMPER FROM LEFT REAR BUMPER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I HIT, I STARTED TO SHIFT THE GEAR SO THAT I COULD STOP THE CAR TO GET OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. AT THIS POINT, THE HUMMER STARTED TO TRAVEL AT VERY FAST SPEED DOWN THE STREET IN THE SAME PATTERN THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY DRIVEN UP. I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I TRIED TO STEER, STEERING WAS IN A LOCK POSITION. I HIT A PEDESTRIAN HARD AND MY CAR LANDED IN MY NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE. WHEN I HIT THE HOUSE, THE 2 FRONT WHEELS BECAME DETACHED FROM THE CAR. THE PEDESTRIAN THAT I HIT HAS INCURRED MANY SERIOUS DAMAGES. I HAD 1 ENGINEERING COMPANY LOOK AT THE CAR BACK IN 2004 AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN I LOOK NOW, I'VE HEARD OF MANY CASES WHERE SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO BRAKES. I AM CURRENTLY IN COURT FOR ANOTHER 1 WEEK AS THIS PEDESTRIAN IS NOW SUING ME. I PLEAD TO ALL H2 HUMMER OWNERS TO CONTRIBUTE ANY INFORMATION THAT THEY MAY HAVE ABOUT OTHER HUMMER OWNERS OR THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE. YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THIS MATTER IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED. *TR
