AFTER PICKING UP MY NEW 2004 HYNDAI ELANTRA ON FRIDAY APRIL 30, 2004 I NOTICED THAT THE PASSANGER SIDE AIRBAG ON/OFF LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN I SAT IN THE SEAT, IN ANY AND EVERY POSITION WITH MY SEATBELT ON, AND THE SEAT IN ALL DIFFERENT POSITIONS THE INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD SAY PASSANGER SIDE AIR BOG OFF. I AM A FEMALE THAT WIEGHS 160 LBS .I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON MONDAY MAY 3RD THEY CALLED ME ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I WENT THERE THAT DAY AND SAT IN THE SEAT IN ALL THE POSITIONS, I SAT IN THE SEAT EXACTLEY AS THEY SAY YOU SHOULD AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT STILL DISPLAYED PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF. THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN TO BE REPAIRED. THEY CALLED ME ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND TOLD ME THAT THEY CHEKCED ALL OF THE SENSORS AND THAT THE COMPUTER SAYS THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY AND AT THIS POINT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. THEY HANDED ME A COPY OF HYUNDAIS TECHINICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FEBUARY 2003 AND TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE WAY THAT THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS SYSTEM WAS REQUIRED IN NEW CARS BY NHTSA AND THAT THEY CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM NOR WILL THEY REFUND OR REPLACE MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CALLED HYUNDAI CONSUMAR AFFAIRS THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEM OF THIS KIND. THEY REFERED ME TO NHTSA SAYING THAT IT IS YOU WHO REQQUIRES THIS SYSTEM AND I SHOULD TALK TO YOU WITH ANY CONCERNS. THE DEALER INSITS THAT THIS IS THE WAY THE AIRBAG SYSTEM SHOULD WORK FOR A ADULT WHO WIEGHS 160LBS, AND ARE GOING TO GIVE ME BACK A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A WORKING PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FOR A 160 LB FEMALE.*AK
REGARDING: 2004 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE 2004 ELANTRA CONTAINS A SENSOR IN THE SEAT THAT DISABLES THAT PASSENGER SEAT IF THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER IS LESS THAN A CERTAIN WEIGHT. A "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATES TO INDICATE WHEN THIS IS OCCURRING. SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE (4/29/2004), IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT THIS LIGHT ILLUMINATES WITH ADULT PASSENGER'S IN THIS SEAT. THIS HAPPENS WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF INDIVIDUALS, SOME WELL OVER 150 LB. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS THAT I HAVE FOUND: 1) JUNE 24, 2004 EDITION OF AUTOTECH DAILY (HAMPTON AUTOBEAT LLC) IN AN ARTICLE ENTITLED "ELANTRA SMART AIRBAG TOO SMART?" 2) ABC STORY: HTTP://ABCNEWS.GO.COM/BUSINESS/STORY?ID=89770&PAGE=1 3) CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM: TTP://WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM/NEWS04/HYUNDAI_AIRBAG.HTML AS THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT I FOUND VERY TROUBLING AND UNSAFE, I WOULD APPRECIATE IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO TWO (2) DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALERS FOR SERVICE, BUT ACCORDING TO THEM, THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. *JB
CONSUMER RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 03V322000. WHEN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS UNOCCUPIED OR IS OCCUPIED BY SOMEONE LIGHTER THAN 56.4 POUNDS, THE PASSENGER'S AIR BAG DEACTIVATES, AND WILL NOT DEPLOY IF A CRASH OCCURS. THIS RECALL APPLIED FOR THOSE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 6/12/2003 AND 18/11/2003. HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED ON 6/18/2003 AND DEALER WON'T HONOR THE RECALL.*AK
AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO DEALERON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND DEALER STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *AK
PASSENGER AIR BAG INTERMITTENLY IS ENABLED/DIABLED WITH PROPER EIGHT PASSENGER SITTING PROPERLY IN THE SEAT. *AK
THE CONSUMER COMPLAIND THAT THE CHILD WAS ABLE TO UNLATCH THE BUCKLE ON THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT. THE CHILD HAS RELEASED THE BUCKLE MORE THAN TEN TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS SENT A COVER FOR THE BUCKLE, BUT THE CHILD WAS STILL ABLE TO UNLATCH THE BUCKLE. *JB BRITAX CHILD SAFETY SEAT, MODEL NUMBER, E900218, SERIAL NUMBER E9002186569, BATCH 501520. *NM
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY ONTO AN OFF RAMP HIT SOMETHING IN THE STREET WHICH CAUSED HIM TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO PULL OVER HE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED CHEST INJURIES.*AK
REPEATED INTERMITTENT ILLUMINATION OF "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" BEGINNING WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASE. FAILURES OCCUR WHEN ANYONE SITS IN PASSENGER SEAT. ADULTS WEIGHING 190, 170, AND 140 HAVE TURNED AIRBAGS OFF. POODLE WEIGHING 9 LBS TURNED AIRBAGS ON! NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS AT SERVICE AUGUST 04 TO PRESENT, WITH LONG DELAYS WAITING FOR HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVES TO ADDRESS AND DELAYS AND CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS BY DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. RESULTS OF SERVICE APPOINTMENTS INCLUDED COULD NOT DUPLICATE, TOLD THAT SENSOR ACTIVATED WHEN PASSENGER MOVES IN SEAT, CLAIMED TO ORDER NEW "UPGRADED" SENSOR, DID NOT HAVE "SPECIAL" TOOL TO INSTALL NEW SENSOR, NOTHING MORE THAT SERVICE DEPT COULD DO, AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY IN ACCIDENT IF SENSOR INDICATES AIRBAGS OFF, THEN TOLD THAT DISTRICT MANAGER WOULD HAVE TO INSTALL NEW SENSOR, SVC CANCELLED BECAUSE DISTRICT MANAGER ADVISED SERVICE MANAGER THAT NEW SENSOR WOULD NOT WORK, TOLD THAT DISTRICT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WOULD ARRIVE TO ASSESS AND VERIFY ISSUE THEN LET ME KNOW WHAT WOULD BE DONE AND WOULD HAVE TO SIGN WAIVER, DISTRICT SVC REP TESTED (COMPARED MY 04 ELANTRA MANUFACTURED SEPT 03 AND ANOTHER MANUFACTURED MAY 04) AND CONCLUDED CAUSE WAS THE WAY I SIT IN THE SEAT. LIGHT CAME ON IN BOTH VEHICLES WHEN I SAT IN PASSENGER SEAT, AND WHEN HE SAT IN MY PASSENGER FRONT SEAT. CONCLUDED THAT I WAS NOT SITTING FAR ENOUGH BACK IN THE SEAT FOR SENSOR TO RECOGNIZE. STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A DEFECT BUT A "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE 04 ELANTRA. WOULD RETURN TWO WEEKS LATER TO "REPROGRAM" SENSOR TO MORE SENSITIVE STATE. THIS WAS MORE THAN ONE MONTH AGO. HAVE HAD THREE NEAR COLLISIONS SINCE PURCHASE, WITH CONSTANT FEAR OF PASSENGER SEAT FOR SEVEN AND ONE HALF MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. *JB
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF INDICATOR COMES ON WITH 108 LB ADULT RIDING IN CAR.HAPPENED 10 TIMES IN AN HOUR. PASSENGER WAS SEATED ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI SERVICE BULLETIN # 04-90-003.DEALER SAYS THAT IS NORMAL.*AK
WHEN DRIVING AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER INFORMED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 ELANTRA IN APRIL 2004. AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAVING DRIVEN IT FOR A FEW MILES, I REALIZED THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISABLED. SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR, I HAVE RIDDEN IN THE PASSENGER SEAT SEVERAL TIMES, AND REGARDLESS OF THE POSITION, THE AIRBAG REMAINS DISABLED. WHEN THE ODOMETER READ 1,000 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND I REQUESTED A CHECK OF THE PASSENGERS AIRBAG SENSOR. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL; HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS FEATURE WAS PART OF THE DESIGN FOR THE NEW 2004 MODEL. HE OFFERED ME TO TEST DRIVE A BRAND-NEW ELANTRA TO COMPARE IT TO MINE. THE OTHER CAR HAD THE SAME DESIGN FLAW. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED. I DO NOT CONSIDER THE CAR TO BE SAFE. ON JULY 14/04 I SENT A LETTER TO THE DEALER AND TO THIS DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THEM. *AK
"PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" INDICATOR COMES ON AN INCONSISTENT BASIS WHILE RIDING. PASSENGER IS A 120LB ADULT FEMALE WHO SITS AS INSTRUCTED IN OWNERS MANUAL. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER CLAIM THEY CAN DO NOTHING TO PREVENT THIS. THEY BLAME YOU FOR RULES LAID DOWN REGARDING SENSORS. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING CAR FEB 23 2004. DATE LISTED BELOW IS LATEST OCCURENCE. *AK
NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR DOES NOT WORK . IT IS DEFECTIVE. STILL DOES NOT WORK. DEALER, HYUNDAI MANUFACTURER, WERE NOTIFIED AND CLAIMED THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING RELATED TO THIS. WAS IN REPAIR SHOP TWICE. NOTHING DONE TO CORRECT THIS. CAR IS UNSAFE. PASSENGER IS AT GREAT RISK OR SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO AIR BAG NOT DEPLOYING WHILE ADULT IS IN PASSENGER SEAT. NO ONE RETURNS OUR CALLS. WE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO NO AVAIL.*AK
THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT WHILE SOMEONE WAS OCCUPYING THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION NUMEROUS TIMES, AND MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK TWO MECHANICS HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE, WITH THE CONSUMERS WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AS THE LIGHT STAYED ON, GOES OFF, THEN HAD COME ON AGAIN. THE PROBLEM HAVE NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *SC
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLED. ALSO, CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE TEN TIMES AND STILL COULD NOT PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. *AK
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR...MY CAR HAS 650 MILES AND IS 2 WEEKS OLD. MY SECOND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED THIS MORNING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PART TO HAVE GO AS IT CAUSES THE VEHICLES ENGINE TO SUDDENLY STOP, LEAVING YOU COASTING WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO "HOPEFULLY" A SAFE PLACE TO WAIT FOR THE 10-15 MINUTES IT TAKES BEFORE YOUR CAR WILL START AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NO LESS THAN 10 TIMES BETWEEN THE 2 SENSORS THAT I'VE HAD GO. EACH TIME I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER WITHIN 24 HRS OF MALFUNCTION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FIRST ONE, BUT THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK THIS MORNING, NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE IT FOR ANOTHER 24 HRS IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION, THE LOANER VEHICLES WERE ALREADY IN USE. A SEARCH OF THE WEB TOLD ME THAT CRANKSHAFT SENSORS HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM FOR HYUNDAI FOR MANY YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP WILL REPLACE IT AGAIN AT NO CHARGE. HAVING THIS HAPPEN IN A PLACE WHERE THERE IS NO BREAKDOWN LANE COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 35-45 MPH AND TURNING TO THE LEFT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT CRASH. SEAT BELT DIDN'T HOLD THE DRIVER, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS ISSUED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE ADVANCE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, LETTING THE CONSUMER KNOW THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE TURNED OFF. THIS CAUSED A PROBLEM BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS WERE OFF WHEN THEY MAY HAVE BEEN NEEDED TO BE ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK *NM
I WAS DRIVING A HYUDAI ELENTRA RENTAL CAR AND I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE BRAKE WAS NOT HOLDING THE CAR BACK AND THE CAR WAS DRIFTING FORWARD A LITTLE INTO THE INTERSECTION. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING VERY FAST EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. I TOLD THE ATTENDANT WHEN I RETURNED THE RENTAL CAR THAT THE BRAKE WASN'T HOLDING THE CAR BACK AT A RED LIGHT, BUT TOLD HER THAT I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. SHE SAID THAT SHE WOULD TAKE THE CAR OUT OF SERVICE TO BE CHECKED. THE FOLLOWING WEEK IN THE MARCH 9 USA TODAY THERE WAS AN ARTICLE REPORTING THAT SOME TOYOTA CAMRYS, CAMRY SOLARAS, AND LEXUS ES 300S SURGED FORWARD WITH NO REASON. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS WHAT OCCURRED IN THE HYUNDAI THAT I WAS DRIVING. I HAVE CALLED AVIS TO GIVE THEM THE CAR NUMBER THAT I WAS DRIVING SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE THE CAR IN TO BE CHECKED. I HAVE LISTED THE CAR BELOW AS A 2004 MODEL. I BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A 2004 BECAUSE IT WAS NEW AND HAD LOW MILEAGE. A QUESTION BELOW ASKS WHETHER IT HAD CRUISE CONTROL, BUT I DON'T KNOW. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON A RAINY DAY AT 50 MPH, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE SPEED, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SHE HEARD A "HIT" UNDER THE VEHICLE, THEN LOST CONTROL. *SC *JB
AFTER REAR ENDING A VEHICLE, THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED WALL CHEST CONTUSION AND SHOULDER STRAIN. *JB VEHICLE IS STILL WITH THE DEALER. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AIR BAG SENSOR WORKED INTERMITTENTLY WITH SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT. CONSUME CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS THE COVER THAT WAS ON THE SEAT. AND THEN SAID IT WAS THE WAY THE CONSUMER WAS SITTING. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT SEAT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SENSOR THAT ACTIVATES THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WHEN SOMEONE OVER 56 POUNDS IN WEIGHT SITS IN THAT SEATING POSITION. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM SENSOR WILL INTERMITTENTLY OPERATE CORRECTLY. CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THAT HER VEHICLE'S IDENTIFICATION NUMBER IS OUTSIDE OF THE SCOPE OF THE SAFETY RECALL (CAMPAIGN NO. 03V-322). *AL *MJJ
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DISABLED LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH ADULTS OF MINIMUM OF 100 POUNDS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. *AK
WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF ON PASSENGER SIDE WHILE IN MOTION
BACK COVER ON PASSENGER SEAT CONTINUES TO POP OUT. WHEN CERTIFIED DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, ONE DAY LATER THE BACKING WAS AGAIN AJAR. RISK FOR FINGERS TO BE CAUGHT. HAPPENS REPEATEDLY. *JB
PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT SENSOR LIGHT FOR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG REAPEATEDLY GOES ON AND OFF WHEN A 122 LB. FULL GROWN ADULT FEMALE IS SITTING PROPERLY IN THE SEAT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE DEALER SAYS THEY'VE DONE WHAT THEY CAN, AND THAT THEIR HYNDAI CORPORATE CONTACTS HAVE DONE WHAT THEY CAN. SEAT AND SENSOR SYSTEM REPLACED TWICE, TO NO AVAIL. I BELIVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE CAR HAS A SEVERE FRONTAL IMPACT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOESN'T DEPLOY!*AK
2004 ELANTRA OCS SYSTEM MODIFICATION.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT WHO MET THE WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS. *NM
HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2004 ROOF BUCKLED WHILE DRIVING. *BF WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE. HE PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE ROOF HAD BUCKLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THAT SOMEONE STOOD ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. *NM
AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, CONSUMER NOTICED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *LA THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR INCORRECTLY INTERPRETED THE ABSENCE OF A SEATED ADULT WHEN AN ADULT IN FACT OCCUPIED THE SEAT. THIS CAUSED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE AND IN THE EVEN OF A CRASH THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY . THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL VEHICLES WERE RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM IN THE PAST. (RECALL #03V322000). THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED THE HAD TO CONSULT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE SECOND TIME THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND WAS REPORTED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY WITH 60LB WEIGHT IN THE SEAT. THE THIRD TIME THE DEALER RECEIVED AN EXTRA SENSITIVE SENSOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FOURTH TIME THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND STATED THERE HAD BEEN NO CHANGE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE PART WAS REPLACED WITH THE NEWEST THAT THERE WAS AND THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. *JB
THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THE SEAT SENSORS WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER GAVE THE FIRST ELANTRA BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS GIVEN A REPLACEMENT SAME MODEL AND YEAR, BUT THE PROBLEM EXISTED IN THAT CART AS WELL. *AK *JB
WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT AN INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHICH STATED THAT PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WAS OFF. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO INDICATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF NHTSA RECALL 03V322000 CONCERNING AIR BAG FAILURE. *AK CONSUMERS WIFE WHO IS ABOUT 130LBS EXPERIENCES THIS ISSUE WHEN IN THE PASS. SEAT. DRIVING AROUND CORNERS OR UP HILLS TURNS THE BAG ON AND OFF. THE DEALER CAN NOT FIX THE ISSUE.CW
