THE AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED ON AND WOULD GO ON AND OFF, BUT WOULDN'T TELL ME WHETHER IT IS FOR THE PASSENGER LIGHT (WHICH HAS BECOME FAULTY SOMETIMES HAVING A FALSE POSITIVE OR FALSE NEGATIVE TO WHETHER THE PASSENGER IS THERE), BUT MOST RECENTLY HAS STAYED ON PERMANENTLY WITH THE PASSENGER LIGHT CORRECTLY READING OFF - IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER THAT MEANS THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OR IF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WOULD NOT DEPLOY. IT IS UNCLEAR WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG OVERALL AND IF THE CAR HAS SWITCHED OFF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE WARNING LIGHT HAS SWITCHED OFF A FEW TIMES SEEMINGLY INDICATING EVERYTHING IS FINE, HOWEVER IT NOW STAYS ON REGARDLESS OF WHERE DRIVEN. *TR
MY CAR CONTINUALLY WILL NOT START. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY JUMPED SEVERAL TIMES VIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I COULD DRIVE IT ONE DAY AND THE NEXT DAY, ITS DEAD. I EVEN BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY THINKING THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I THINK THIS MAY BE A MAJOR ISSUE. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS PARKED. MY CAR INSURANCE POLICY ATTACHED HAS THE RECORD OF HOW MANY TIMES I'VE HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMPSTART THE CAT.
EPS LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON AGAIN AND LOCKED MY STEERING WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND PARKING, CAN'T MOVE THE STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AROUND THE INITIAL EPS RECALL, TOOK IT THEN TO THE SAME DEALER (SPORT HYUNDAI DODGE) WHERE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED TO UPDATE OR PATCH UP FIX. RECENTLY WENT TO THE DEALER TO ALSO FIX THE ABS MODULE RECALL AND RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE EPS. THEY STATED IT'S THE STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A $2100 REPAIR, WHICH THEY WILL FILE WITH THE MANUFACTURE TO SEE IF IT'S COVERED. BY READING THESE REPEATING COMPLAINTS, SOMETHING TELLS ME THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM TILL IT'S IN HARMS WAY INSTEAD OF PREVENTING THE SAFETY ISSUES. CURRENTLY HAD TO GIVE UP WORKING HOURS AND IN FINANCIAL STRESS OVER A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED CORRECTLY IN THE BEGINNING. *TR
A few months after I purchased this car the electric power steering (eps light ) light came on and so I looked up my vin number to see if the car has ever had any recalls and that was one of the recalls . And I was told that if a car has any recalls the manufacturer if required to fix it free of charge .
MY CAR HAS ALREADY HAD THE RECALL FOR THE STEERING WHEEL ISSUE COMPLETED IN 2015 BUT IT NOW MAKES A AWFUL CLICKING NOISE WHEN IT IS BEING TURNED.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOR RECALL 127 ON 4/24/2020. THE RECALL WAS TO FIX THE STEERING FAILURE. AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETED, MY STEERING HAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT IS HARD TO STEER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, GETS IN A STUCK POSITION GOING STRAIGHT WHICH REQUIRES EFFORT TO "UNSTICK" AND THEN YOU OVER STEER. AT SLOW SPEEDS BACKING OUT AND TURNING OUT OF MY CARPORT THE STEERING IS WAY TOO TIGHT, THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE AND ANOTHER RECALL NEEDS TO ISSUED. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM VERY CONCERNED.

OWNER CLAIMED 2B FUTURE FORD ROSEVILLE CA WHICH IS PROVEN CRIMINAL ORG THAT ADMITS TO THEFT BY FRAUD UNDER PRETEXT THAT CREDIT EXEMPLARY PERSONS WILL "PAY ANYWAY" ON FORGED SALE DOCUMENTS. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SAID VEHICLE OR T SOBEE EMPLOYEE.
INSIDE DOOR OPENING HANDLE ON DRIVER SIDE METAL COVERING IS PEELING OFF AND IS SHARP.
WE RECEIVED A LETTER IN REGARDS TO A SAFETY RECALL ON THE 2010 ELANTRA. WE OWN TWO OF THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED HUNTINGTON HYUNDAI, IN HUNTINGTON, N.Y. TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR. AS PER JOE SANTIAGO WHO ANSWERED, THEY ARE NOT TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR THIS REPAIR, AND WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTING VEHICLES ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS MONDAY - FRIDAY 9 AM - 5 PM. IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT WE MAY HAVE TO COME BACK MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED FOR REPAIR. AS A FIRST RES PONDER I AM STILL WORKING DURING THE OUTBREAK AND WILL BE UNABLE TO TAKE MULTIPLE DAYS OFF FROM WORK TO "TRY" TO GET THE CAR IN. THEY WERE VERY UNHELPFUL AND UNNECESSARILY RUDE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CONVERSATION.
HYDROPLANED HEAD ON INTO A GUARDRAIL AND AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY DOING 23+ MPH. HIGHWAY GOING AROUND A TURN.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI REGARDING MY 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. A RECALL RELAY IN THE VEHICLES MAIN JUNCTION BOX. FOR THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. IT WAS RECALL FEB 2020.RECEIVED THE LETTER APRIL 6,2020. THEY WAITED TO LONG TO SEND THE LETTER.
I took the car to the dealer to perform the recall repair for recall 127 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V100000 in April 2020. The recall required replacement of the power steering motor controller 56300-2H250 with 56310-2H250QQH. In August of 2020, I removed the steering column and inspected the power steering motor controller that is currently in the car. The motor controller is still 56300-2H250, see attached photo. This should have been replaced with the recall, but the dealer did not replace it as per the attached TSB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT POWER STEERING FAILED TO OPERATED AS DESIGNED WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ALEXANDRIA HYUNDAI (1707 MT VERNON AVE, ALEXANDRIA, VA 22301) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC AND HE INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE FUSE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE WHERE HE PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND HAD DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INDEED RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE FUSE. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AFTER DISCOVERING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V100000 (STEERING) AND HAD THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE EPS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE AND LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE TWO DOLLAR PART WITH VERY HIGH LABOR COST. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2015 PROBLEM WAS OBVIOUSLY MISS DIAGNOSIS IT IS THE STEERING COUPLING. IT CAN CAUSE A LOST IF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS A TOTAL CASE SPECIALIST FOR KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS THE COMPANY SHOULD BE TAKING CAR OF A LOT OF ISSUES THAT THEY TELL CUSTOMERS IT OUT OF WARRANTY OR YOU MISSED A OIL CHANGE SO THE WARRANTY IS VOID. I TOOK SEVERAL IF THE CALLS THAT VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. NHTSA YOU SHOULD BE FOR CONSUMERS YOU HEAR THE SAME COMPLAINT OVER AND OVER FROM OWNERS OF KIA AND HYUNDAI . MOST OF THERE CARS ARE CRAP I GOT THE SAME CALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUES OVER AND OVER
THE CAR ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF WITHOUT ANY ACTIVITY ( PARKED AND LOCKED IN MY DRIVE WAY). I HAVE LOOKED THE CAR OVER BUT SO FAR I SEE NO REASON FOR THE ALARM TO BE TRIGGERED.
VEHICLE HAS 85,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. DOES NOT MATTER IF THE WEATHER IS WARM OR COLD OR IF ENGINE IS WARM OR COLD. REOCCURRING PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH WHILE GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE, THE BAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND LOCKED AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONTACT ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THE GUARDER RAIL. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN NECK, BACK, SHOULDER, AND KNEE INJURY AS WELL AS A FRACTURED TOE WHICH MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTICE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V061000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer who stated the parts were not yet available. The contact called ABC Hyundai (6825 Redwood St, Las Vegas, NV 89118, (702)706-7885) and was informed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT NO RECALL SERVICE APPOINTMENTS COULD BE PLACED DUE TO AN INOPERABLE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
IT SEEMS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM SO I WILL KEEP IT BRIEF. MY CAR HAS 150000 ON IT. THERE IS A CLICKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE EPS. THE CLICKING HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING OR PARKED. AT ALL TIMES. I WENT INTO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW STEERING RACK. THE REPAIR COST MORE THAN THE CAR'S VALUE. I WENT IN TO HAVE REPAIRS FOR RECALLS IN 2018. I'M WONDERING IF THEY ACTUALLY FIXED IT BECAUSE THE EPS WAS ONE OF THE ISSUES.

While driving uphill, I let my foot off the gas pedal to make an upcoming turn. The car continued to accelerate, the brake pedal wouldn’t stop the car. Neutral made engine race to red-line. Turned ignition off and used hand brake, damaging handbrake shoes. Had car towed to dealership in Debuque, Iowa. After a few days was told that the floor mat had come loose and wedged accelerator down. Removed mat. 24 months later car accelerated the same way, unwanted, with brake pedal not stopping the car. There is no car mat to get stuck. Turned ignition off and used handbrake. Will be bringing car to a mechanic.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NEMET HYUNDAI (144-02 HILLSIDE AVENUE, JAMAICA, NY 11435, (718) 523-5858) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE LIGHT WAS DEACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT. THE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE SEVERAL DEFECTS, INCLUDING THE EPS, WERE DISCOVERED UPON DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 219,847.
EPS LIGHT CAME ON, ALMOST LOST CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. LATER I FOUND OUT ABOUT A RECALL. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. HAD TO PULL TO SIDE AS MUCH AS I CAN OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY.
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA MODELS. MANY OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS ARE BEING RECALLED FOR AIRBAG DEFECTS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON MY MODEL. CAR NOT SAFE TO DRIVING WONDERING IF AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI HEADQUARTERS BUT BOTH STATED MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. WHY?

MY 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA'S STEERING WHEEL STARTED CLICKING. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE EPS LIGHT TURNS ON. I WAS WORKING AND COULD NOT TAKE IT IN. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT A FEW DAYS LATER AND ON MY WAY MY CAR STARTED LOCKING WHILE STEERING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT A PARKED CAR. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NOTHING IS COVERED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.

MY RED AIR BAG NOTIFICATION ON MY DASHBOARD STAYS ON. WAS TOLD THIS MEANS NO AIR BAG COVERAGE. ALSO THAT IT IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. I AM DRIVING THIS BUT ONLY BECAUSE DEALERSHIP SAID I WOULD NEED TOO PAY FOR INSPECTION TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THEN PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE I AM A SENIOR DRIVER AND NEVER HAD A TICKET BUT AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY CAUSE IT TO DEPLOY ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING. AS A SAFETY ISSUE I FEEL THIS NOT BE A CHARGE THAT I NEED TO COVER. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A POWER STEERING RECALL. ONLY TOLD ABOUT IT SOME TIME AFTER I PAID TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER ALMOST RESULTING IN MY GOING OFF THE ROAD, WHEN I GO TO A PLACE THAT WAS SAFE TO STOP, I NOTICED THAT THE EPS LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED RED, AND THE ESC OFF LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED YELLOW. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND IT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND REMAINED OFF DURING MY COMMUNTE HOME. WHEN I DROVE THE CARE YESTERDAY THE LIGHTS CAME ON AT START UP AND STAYED ON MY COMMUTE HOME. THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER TO STEER WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED, AND UNSAFE WHEN THE POWER STEERING CUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND A RECALL NUMBER #127 HAS BEEN ASSIGNED, BUT NO OFFICIAL RECALL TO DATE FOR MY VIN #.

THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH FRED BEANS HYUNDAI OF LANGHORNE (LOCATED AT 1106 E LINCOLN HWY, LANGHORNE, PA 19047, 888-754-7841); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO FIND OUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL FIRST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE EPS LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I PARKED THE CAR FOR FEAR OF A POSSIBLE INCIDENT. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS, I WAS INFORMED THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIAN WANTS TO START THE AIRBAG FIX BY REPLACING THE SENSOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. EACH REPAIR WAS OVER $2,000 WITH MY GRAND TOTAL BEING JUST OVER $4,800 AND NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE AT THAT POINT. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES AND PEOPLE WITH UNDER 60,000 MILES DEALING WITH $2,000+ DOLLAR REPAIRS. IF THE STEERING GOES OUT, IT HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS. THAT COUPLED WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT, WHICH NOTIFIES THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS BEEN DISABLED, MAKES THIS CAR TOTALLY UNSAFE TO OPERATE. EVEN OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY PERIOF NOW, THESE WERE REPORTED ISSUES THAT I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2013. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND MADE MY COMPLAINT. WHEN I RECEIVED A CALLBACK, I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY CAR IS OVER THE MILEAGE WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS, NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO HELP ME. THE $4,800+ REPAIR BILL IS MINE AND MINE ALONE.

I HAD NO ISSUE THEN. I GOT MESSAGE YESTERDAY SAYING IT WILL COST ME ABOUT $3,500 TO HAVE 'BURNT OUT' STEERING COLUMN FIX. THE STEERING COLUMN IS BURN OUT BECAUSE IT FAILS. THIS IS SUCH A CLEAR CASE OF MAJOR MALFUNCTION, EVIDENCED BY YOUR 2015 'SOFTWARE UPDATE' RECALL AND THE THOUSANDS OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS, ACCIDENTS AND HIGHWAY SAFETY INVOLVEMENT, THAT I AM STUNNED AND DISMAYED THAT HYUNDAI WON'T REPAIR IT.
