THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GLS . I AM TOLD THAT WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON IT MEANS THAT THE AIRBAGS DON'T WORK WHICH COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN A CRASH. *DT*JB
I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR 4 YEARS. AND THE LAST THREE YEARS IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES. HARD SHIFTING AND SHAKING AT RANDOM TIMES ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP COUNTLESS TIMES AND ONLY RECENTLY WAS GIVEN A DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION SENSOR READING TOO HOT. BEFORE THAT EVERY MECHANIC SAID THEY COULDN'T SEE ANY ISSUE . I FIND IT ALARMING THOUGH BECAUSE WE DON'T REALLY KNOW IF IT'S THE SENSOR OR ACTUALLY THE TRANSMISSION AND IT'S FRUSTRATING THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE HAD ANY ANSWERS FOR THE LAST SO MANY YEARS. IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S A VERY COMMON ISSUE. AND SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BE PINPOINTED AND RESOLVED MUCH SOONER. A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN IT WOULD SHIFT ABRUPTLY IT WAS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE ROAD. CURRENTLY IT'S NOT LUNGING AS DRAMATICALLY. HOWEVER IT'S STILL DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. I HAVE KEPT UP ON ALL THE MAINTENANCE RELIGIOUSLY INCLUDING FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REPLACING IT AS DIRECTED. I DEFINITELY THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE EVERYONE I KNOW THAT HAS A HYUNDAI ELANTRA HAS HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. AND IT DEFINITELY COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS ESPECIALLY FOR INEXPERIENCED DRIVERS.
AS I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE CAR IN REVERSE TO CHECK THE AREA BEHIND ME, THE CAR STALLED OUT COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE STOPPED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND AND SEEMED STUCK. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF, THEN FINALLY ON THE THIRD TRY, THE ENGINE ENGAGED AND I HAD CONTROL OF THE CAR, MOVED BACK INTO THE PARKING PLACE AND THEN MANAGED TO BACK OUT NORMALLY AND PROCEED.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS TURNING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY, MOST OF THE TIME IT IS ON.
THIS CAR WAS IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT IN MOTION ON A HIWAY AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON.CAR WAS DRIVEN TO STORE AND TURNED OFF.WHEN RESTARTED THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON.
INTERMITTENTLY ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. IT WILL SOMETIMES GO A WEEK OR SO TURNING OVER NORMALLY, & THEN WITHOUT WARNING, IT WON'T START FOR 10-60 MIN OR LONGER ACCORDING TO 1000S OF DRIVERS. LAST NIGHT, I WAS STRANDED FOR 50 MIN IN A PARKING LOT AT NIGHT TRYING TO GET MY CAR TO TURN OVER. DASH LIGHTS UP, FUEL PUMP GOES ON, BUT THERE IS NO CRANK. I FILMED IT HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/NBZ957TB72U IT'S CALLED "HYUNDAI ELANTRA WONT START-AGAIN. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE..RIGHT." BUT THERE ARE 1000S OF OTHER COMPLAINTS IN THAT SEARCH. SOME FORUMS SAY IT'S A INHIBITOR SWITCH. THE DEALERSHIP DENYIES SUCH REPORTS ON HYUNDAI'S MANUFACTURER, ALTHOUGH MANY DRIVERS SAY ON THESE FORUMS THAT THEY HAD TO HAVE THEIR ELANTRAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THEY WERE TOLD THERE IS NO PROBLEM. HELPPPP ME !!! IT RANDOMLY TURNED OVER 50 MINUTES LATER. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN! I COULD BE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. ANY OF THESE DRIVERS COULD BE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. LOOK AT THE COMMENTS ON ANY YOUTUBE VIDEO AFTER TYPING IN ELANTRA WON'T START. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE STRANDED FROM THIS ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION HYUNDAI REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. PLEASE READ MY DETAILS I TYPED ON MY VIDEO. BATTERY IS GOOD. I HAD MY SON WITH ME AT THE LYNNWOOD ONE EN ROUTE TO HIS DOCTOR APPOINTMENT AFTER IT WOULDN'T START FOR 10 MIN IN THE DRIVEWAY LAST MONTH. EVERETT I HAD AN APPOINTMENT SO THAT WILL BE ON RECORD. THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT STARTED WHEN THEY TURNED THE KEY AND THEIR ONLINE MANUFACTURERS SITE REPORTED NO PROBLEMS AND THEY REFUSED TO DO A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WHEN I ASKED. THERE'S NO WAY THE MANUFACTURER HASN'T HEARD OF THIS. THE EXAMPLES ARE OVERWHELMING. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT, IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. MAJOR HAZARD TO PUBLIC SAFETY. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND RECALL THIS! PLEASE HELP ME. IT'S LIKE FORD DENYING TRANNY PROBLEMS IN THEIR'12 FOCUSES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AFTER A TRIP, THE SOUND OF A HORN WAS HEARD FROM THE VEHICLE. SOMEONE LOOKED OUTSIDE AND SAW THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY A FAMILY MEMBER. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. NEITHER A FIRE NOR A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DECLARED TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT SENT AN EMAIL TO VANDERGRIFF HYUNDAI (817-912-5122, LOCATED AT 1120 W INTERSTATE 20, ARLINGTON, TX 76017), BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V310000 (STRUCTURE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL FOR MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2012. FOUND THE RECALL ON CREDIT KARMA. BRAKES
IN THE LEFT REAR SUSPENSION, THE TRAILING ARM BROKE OFF WHERE THE ANTI-ROLL BAR IS MOUNTED, TO WHERE THE ANTI-ROLL BAR IS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO THE SUSPENSION. THE CLUNKING NOISE THAT RESULTED FROM THIS WAS FIRST NOTICED IN EARLY MARCH 2019, AND OCCURS WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE DATE OF OCCURRENCE OF 3/1/19 IS APPROXIMATE.
MY ISSUE IS WITH AUTOMAKER HYUNDAI AND A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE ENGINES OF SOME 2011-2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA CARS. I OWN ONE OF THESE CARS. IT IS FOR MY DAUGHTER, 17, WHO PAID THE MAJORITY OF THE $7000 WITH HER OWN MONEY TO BUY THE CAR. SHE HAS PUT AROUND 6-7 THOUSAND MILES ON IT SINCE SHE BOUGHT IT AND DESPITE HAVING THE CAR LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC PRIOR TO PURCHASE, THE ENGINE HAS DEVELOPED A TICKING/KNOCKING NOTICE. AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL DEALER IN MILWAUKEE, AMAMTO HYUNDAI, THEY HAVE SAID THE ISSUE IS A BAD ROD BEARING AND THE ENGINE WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE COST IS IN EXCESS OF $4000 - MORE THAN HALF IF WHAT SHE PAID FOR THE CAR. I HAVE DONE SOME EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE WEB OVER THE LAST 10-14 DAYS AND HAVE FOUND THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE ENGINES, BUT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED BY HYUNDAI FOR THE ELANTRA. IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT THEY HAVE RECENTLY ISSUED RECALLS FOR OTHER MODELS FOR VERY SIMILAR DEFECTS IN THE ENGINE, DONE IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, THAT CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL AND OR CATCH FIRE IN THE HYUNDAI SONATA AND THE KIA SOUL. I HAVE GONE TO HYUNDAI WARRANTY DIRECT AND HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT, BUT I WAS DENIED AS WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER AND BEYOND THE 60,000-MILE WARRANTY. HYUNDAI DOES OFFER A 100,000 MILE ON SOME CARS AND IN SOME CASES HAVE REPLACED THE ENGINE. BUT, IN THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE, HYUNDAI TRIES TO 'DODGE AND DENY' AT ALL COST. I HAVE EVEN FOUND A LINK TO A PENDING CLASS-ACTION SUIT FOR MY VERY ISSUE. I HAVE PROOF AND DOCUMENTATION TO SHOW YOU THAT BACKS UP WHAT I HAVE FOUND. I ALSO HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY HYUNDAI IN MARCH OF 2014 (#14-20-002) THAT CLEARLY STATES THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO KNOCK AND THE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FULL FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHTOWNE HYUNDAI RIVERDALE (7665 GA-85, RIVERDALE, GA 30274), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
VEHICLE FRONT COIL SPRINGS FAILED WHILE GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP AT LOW SPEED OF LESS THAN 10 MPH. COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOS ATTACHED TO THIS WRITING. COIL SPRING FAILURE FOLLOWS A SIMILAR PATTERN TO THE COIL SPRINGS IN THE HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2011, WHICH WAS RECALLED OVER THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS FAULTY PRODUCT HAS MADE ITS WAY INTO THE HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2012 SUPPLY CHAIN. HERE IS A LINK TO A WEBSITE LISTING OTHER HYUNDAI 2012 OWNERS HAVING THE SAME FRONT COIL SPRING ISSUE. IT IS CONCEIVABLE THAT DEADLY, TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL COULD OCCUR AT SPEED.
I HAVE 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GLS WITH 1.8 L DOHC ENGINE. WHEN COLD STARTED, THE ENGINE PRODUCES TICKING/KNOCKING NOISE WHICH QUIETS DOWN AFTER RUNNING FOR 15 MINUTES. BUT, I OBSERVED THAT IT IS GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER AND THE NOISE IS ALSO NOT GETTING REDUCED AS IT USED TO BE. I WENT TO NORTHTOWN HYUNDAI AND THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL PAN. HYUNDAI REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH THEY VERY WELL KNOW THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT DUE TO BAD PISTON COATING. THE ENGINE POWER HAS HIGHLY REDUCED AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT MIGHT BLOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ATTACHED THE HYUNDAI CANADA BULLETIN WHERE THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. BUT, HYUNDAI USA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH THIS PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2012 ELANTRA 120,000 MILES CAR HAS STALLED DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALSO HAS STARTED A TICKING IN THE ENGINE I TOOK IT TO HAVE A OIL CHANGE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS METAL IN THE OIL PAN AND I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. I HAVE A 2012 ELANTRA, I AM 2ND OWNER OF THE CAR, IT JUST TURNED 67,000 MILES AND BEGAN MAKING A LOUD TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO DID AN OIL CHANGE AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE PIECES OF METAL IN THE OIL PAN AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP THEY STATED I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THE CAR IS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY SO THEY DEALER SENT THE INFORMATION INTO HYUNDAI CORPORATE, OUTCOME IS NO FREE ENGINE I HAVE TO PAY 3,000 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE I AM NOT ALONE IN MY PAIN! SHAME ON HYUNDAI YOUR CAR SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE LEAST WANTED LIST! I WOULDN'T PURCHASE ANOTHER HYUNDAI IF IT COST ONE CENT! HYUNDAI IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUES WITH THE ENGINES AND YET FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE RIGHT THING TO DO FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. BEWARE DO NO PURCHASE A HYUNDAI ANYTHING! I WOULD NOT TRUST ANY OF IT'S VEHICLES THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANY ONE THAT OWNS ONE - DO YOU HOMEWORK CHECK OUT THE FACTS. FORTUNATELY FOR ME I DIDN'T ENCOUNTER A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. I AM NOW THE OWNER OF A VERY EXPENSIVE CAR THAT IS WORTH ABOUT THE COST OF THE ENGINE!
WHILE DRIVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON AND OFF. THE LIGHT WILL SOMETIMES NOT TURN ON EXCEPT DURING IGNITION AND SOMETIMES WILL BE LT CONTINUOSLY WITH OR WITHOUT A PASSENGER. THIS ALSO OCCURS AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS, ON SURFACE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, IN ANY GEAR.
THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING NOISES WHEN TURNING AND HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN TOUGHER TO TURN AS IF THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED.
AIRBAG DASH LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY.
" TAKATA RECALL" - I GOT IN MY CAR, STARTED IT UP AND THE ONLY LIGHT THAT WOULD NOT GO OFF LIKE IT SHOULD WHEN YOU START UP THE CAR WAS THE "AIRBAG" LIGHT. SO I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND FIGURED MAYBE ITS A FLUKE AND STARTED MY CAR UP AGAIN AND IT STAYED ON. MY LIGHT FOR MY AIRBAG CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING AND DIDN'T RUN OVER A POTHOLE. I FIND IT REALLY ODD THAT THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON OUT OF THE BLUE. THE CAR DIDN'T EVEN HAVE 94,000 MILES ON IT YET. I'M ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW GOOD MY CAR IS AND HOW IT HAS AIRBAGS FOR DRIVER, PASSENGER AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS. SOMEONE SHOULD REALLY CHECK THIS OUT. BEFORE THIS CAR, I OWNED A SUBARU AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A 2002, NOT ONCE DID MY AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON AND STAY ON. THE YELLOW LIGHT YOU SEE ON THE PICTURE CAME OFF WITH THE LAST RECALL ON MY CAR REGARDING THE ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. I TOOK IT INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY HANDLED THE RECALL, AFTER THAT THE LIGHT CAME OFF AND HAS STAYED OFF. BUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED ON.....
I AM THE 2ND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE STARTED THE INFAMOUS 'TICKING OR KNOCKING' SOUND IN JANUARY THIS YEAR WHEN IT WAS VERY COLD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WOULD GO AWAY AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS UP BUT IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE WITH TIME. THE TICKING SOUND BECAME VERY LOUD AND ANNOYING. I TOOK IT TO COUPLE OF RELIABLE MECHANICS TO TAKE A LOOK AND GET AN IDEA OF WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. THEY BOTH TOLD ME SEPARATELY THAT ONE OF THE PISTONS IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND IN ORDER TO FIX THIS ISSUE I HAVE TO HAVE MY ENGINE REPLACED.I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS IS A 'KNOWN ISSUE' WITH ELANTRAS 2012-16. ANYWAYS I TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP HERE IN CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND FINALLY TOLD ME THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WILL COST ME $8000 TO PUT A NEW ENGINE AND ABOUT $4000 OR SO TO REPLACE WITH USED ENGINE. THIS IS SHOCKING GIVEN THAT HYUNDAI IS WELL AWARE OF THE FAULTY ENGINE DESIGN AND LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TICKING PROBLEM YET THERE IS NO RECALL !!!
STEERING IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING LOUD THUD AND CLICKING NOISES. I UNDERSTAND THE RUBBER COUPLING MAY BE TO BLAME AND HYUNDAI REFUSES TO PAY FOR COST OF REPAIR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT'S PLACING PEOPLE'S LIVES IN DANGER. I DRIVE WITH MY 1-YEAR-OLD SON IN THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT'S APPALLING THAT HYUNDAI HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PROBLEM WITH THE IMMENSE AMOUNT OF DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS.
THE DASHBOARD SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WENT ON YESTERDAY AND REMAINED ON AS LONG AS MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, THE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT TURN ON AGAIN. THE DEALER'S SERVICE TECHNICIAN THINKS IT IS PROBABLY THE CLOCK SPRING BECAUSE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. HE SAID TO BRING IT IN RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON. HE LOOKED UP MY VIN AND SAID MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE 15 YEAR, UNLIMITED MILEAGE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH HYUNDAI ISSUED FOR SOME VEHICLES. HE QUOTED $140 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THERE WAS A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHTOWN HYUNDAI (3675 SHERIDAN DR, AMHERST, NY 14226, (716) 992-6536) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15444915. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON FOR NO REASON.
ONE TPMS SENSOR FAILED DECEMBER 2018, NOW THE OTHER 3 FAILED IN THE SPAN OF THE LAST 6 WEEKS. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ITEM. HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE TIRE IS REALLY LOW WHEN DRIVING, OTHER THAN A VISUAL OR AN AIR GAUGE. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING, ON THE LAST 3, THE CODE SHOWED ON START-UP
AFTER 110,000 MILES, ENGINE STARTED HESITATING, NOT RUNNING SMOOTH, ANYMORE. BROUGHT TO VALLEY STREAM, NY DEALER ON 1/8 AND THEY CLAIMED NO TROUBLE FOUND, SENT ME AWAY AND 2 MOS. LATER, THE ENGINE DIED. THEY "CONFISCATED" MY VEHICLE FOR SAFETY CONCERNS, BUT NEVER SAID WHAT, SPECIFICALLY.

BEEN TAKING TO DEALERSHIP FOR THIS A FEW TIMES WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM. TOOK CAR TO SEARS THEY INFORMED ME OF A 'RECALL' FOR THIS ISSUE. IT'S IN FACT NOT A RECALL JUST SOMETHING HYUNDAI ADDED TO THE WARRANTY. I HAD TO HAVE SEARS TELL ME SO I CAN TELL THE DEALERSHIP. MY CAR IS AT 99,000 MILES AND I BELIEVE DEALERSHIP WAS WAITING FOR 100K TO TELL ME THE PROBLEM SO THEY COULD CHARGE ME. DESCRIPTION BELOW: THE MDPS (MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS A FLEXIBLE RUBBER COUPLING WHICH MAY WEAR OVER TIME RESULTING IN A SLIGHT "CLICKING" OR "THUD" TYPE NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. WEAR OF THE COUPLING DOES NOT AFFECT THE ABILITY TO STEER OR CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE.
STABILIZER WARNING LIGHT IS ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY FOUND THAT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR HAS SHORTED OUT.
MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AND GETTING ROUTINE CHECKUPS AND OIL CHANGES. I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD (ALMOST ON THE HIGHWAY) AND DURING MY DRIVE MY ENGINE BLEW OUT AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. DUE TO BEING A SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, I AM NOT COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY UNDER 100K MILES. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT SEEM THAT BOTH HYUNDAI AND KIA HAVE ENGINE ISSUES; HOWEVER, ONLY CERTAIN MAKES/MODELS ARE COVERED WHEN ELANTRAS ALSO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND WON'T TURN OFF
AIRBAG LIGHT ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER REFUSES TO LOOK INTO IT, UNLESS I PAY FEE FOR ASSESSMENT. I SEE LOT OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING 2012 ELANTRA HAVING SAME PROBLEM. SOME OF THEM HAVE OFFICIAL RECALLS, BUT MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW ANY RECALL, SO DEALER IS NOT LOOKING INTO IT WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR IT.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND STAYS ON WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD, OCCASIONALLY WILL GO OFF IF CAR HITS BUMP ON THE ROAD, BUT WILL COME BACK ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED.
SUNROOF EXPLODED 5AM IN THE MORNING ON HIGHWAY 405 TRAVELING TO REDMOND WA., I WAS NOT NEAR ANY UNDERPASSES, OR BRIDGES. THE WINDOW SOUND MADE A LOUD BOMB NOISE AND THEM I HEARD GLASS BREAKING. IT WAS GOING TO RAIN THE REST OF THE DAY SO I TOOK BLACK DUCT TAPE AND TAPED THE GLASS SO THAT THE INTEGRITY OF THE GLASS WOULD HOLD AND NOT CONTINUE TO SHATTER AND IT WOULD NOT DESTROY MY HEAD LINER.

THE STREING WHEEL MAKING NOISE. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO FALL OFF. IT SOUND LIKE THIS WHEN DRIVING.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON CONTINUOUSLY BUT IS NOT DUE TO CLOCK SPRING ISSUES AS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT AND AN AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT WORK IS NOT A PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS EXPLICITLY HYUNDAI'S RESPONSIBILITY.

WHEN I TURNED ON MY CAR ON IN SEP. 19 2018, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNED AND STAYED LIT. NOW, I HAVE THE ISSUE OF MY AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY WHEN IN A ACCIDENT. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT EVER, AND NOW I HAVE THIS PROBLEM THAT IT CAN BE ONE OF TWO THINGS. THE COCK SPRING NEEDS TO BE RESET OR A COMPUTER BOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEAT AND REPROGRAMMED. ALSO, IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IS NOT SAFETY CONCERN TO NEITHER THE HYUNDAI MANUFACTURE OR NHTSA. IN REGARDS TO THAT, WHEN I HAD A 2008 HYUNDAI ACCENT IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAGS LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD THAT TURNED ON. ALSO, WHEN TOOK MY ACCENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE COST RELATED TO THAT WAS $2,800 TO FIX THE ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IF IT HAPPENED TO MORE THEN ONE HYUNDAI CAR MODEL THE ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESS AND FIXED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,863.

THEN SUDDENLY I WAS ABLE TO STEER AGAIN AND POSITION THE CAR TO THE RIGHT FOR SAFETY. ENGINE WONT TURN ON. BURNING SMELL AND SOME SMOKE MAYBE FROM LOCKED BRAKE? CAR TOWED TO NEAREST HYUNDAI SHOP.
TAKATA RECALL: MY CAR WILL REV THE ENGINE REALLY HIGH OVER AND OVER AGAIN ON ITS OWN RATHER THAN IDLE WHILE IN PARK. ALSO WHILE IN DRIVE AND THE BREAK PRESSED, THE ENGINE WILL REV ON ITS OWN LIKES ITS TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS NOT JUST WHAT IS NOTED BELOW.

ENGINE NOISE HAS PROGRESSED FROM A SLIGHT TICKING TO A HARD KNOCKING SOUND AND DIFFICULTY IDLING UPON INITIAL START UP WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES
WHILE SITTING AT LIGHT THE CAR BEGINS TO JERK LIKE IT WANTS TO CUT OFF.YES THIS HAPPENS AT STOP SIGNS IN THE COUNTRY AND CITY STREETS IN TOWN.
THE BRAKES LIGHTS AND FRONT PASSENGER LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS GOING. APPARENTLY, ITS HAPPENING WITH MANY HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS, THERE FORUM WRITTEN ONLINE ABOUT THESE SAME ISSUES ALL THE TIME. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE OVER 30 BULBS IN 4 YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
