THE STEERING IN MY 2012 ELANTRA STICKS WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ON STRAIGHT ROADS AT SPEEDS OVER 40-50 MPH. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING AND IT FEELS LIKE A MAGNET BREAKING FREE FROM A METAL SURFACE WHEN TRYING TO NAVIGATE. A RESISTANCE IS ALWAYS PRESENT AT HIGHER SPEEDS. CONSTANT CORRECTION IS MANDATORY OR I FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL WON'T BREAK FREE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. HYUNDAI ADVISED REPLACING THE MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING COLUMN AT MY COST OF $1300 PARTS AND LABOR. I HAVE HAD THE STEERING COUPLER REPLACED FOR $100. THIS IS NOT THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE CLOCKSPRING ISSUE IS ALSO NOT A FIX. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE ON THE FORUMS. THIS IS PRESENT ON SEVERAL MODEL YEARS WITH LOW AND HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLES.
TAPPING FROM ENGINE. HAVE ASKED DEALER TO INSPECT AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO ISSUE FOR THE LAST FOUR OIL CHANGES AND INSPECTIONS. WITH THE RECALL OF OTHER HYUNDAI, I'M THINKING THIS MAYBE THE SAME ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL. AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. LOOKED ONLINE AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE.
"TAKATA RECALL" TURN IGNITION KEY TO START POSITION AND CLICK, CLICK, MOTOR DOES NOT START. TURN KEY OFF BACK ON TO START POSITION AND ENGINE STARTS. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START MY VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. ALL LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND SITTING FOR 10 MINUTES IT FINALLY STARTED. TWO DAYS LATER MY VEHICLE DID THE SAME EXACT THING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WHILE AT THE CAR SHOP ANOTHER ELANTRA OWNER (2011 MODEL YEAR) WAS THERE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM UNSURE EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE BUT I DID LOOK ONLINE AND MANY OWNERS FOR THE HYUNDAI ELANTRA MODEL YEARS 2011-2013 COMPLAINED OF THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. IT CURRENTLY HAS 84,585 MILES AND I PURCHASED IT USED FROM A DEALERSHIP AT 48,484 MILES. IT WAS INSPECTED BY A HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR AFTER MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE AND STALLING CONTINUALLY. IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THE SONATA HAS WHICH IS COVERED IN THE CLASS ACTION SUIT, BUT OUR DEALERS REQUEST FOR A NEW SHORT BLOCK WAS DENIED BY HYUNDAI. THERE ARE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL VALVE, AND ALSO IN THE OIL PAN CAUSED BY SHEARING FROM THE CRANKSHAFT. THERE APPEAR TO BE OTHERS WITH THE SAME CRANKSHAFT ISSUE THAT OWN ELANTRA MODELS AS WELL. PLEASE SEE ABOVE ATTACHMENTS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE SAME FAULTY DEBURRING PROCESS THAT WAS USED ON THE SONATA'S CRANK SHAFT MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN USED ON CERTAIN ELANTRA'S DURING THE SAME TIMEFRAME. I ALSO HAVE RECEIPTS OF ALL OF MY OIL CHANGES. IF THERE IS ANY INFORMATION THAT IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS DEBURRING PROCESS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN USED ON OTHER ENGINE MODELS OR IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO PROCEED, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING. IT WOULD COME ON AND OFF AT FIRST, BUT NOW IT STAYS ON THE WHOLE TIME THE CAR IS ON. CAR SHAKES EXCESSIVELY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IDLE.
AIRBAG LIGHT AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I TURNED ON MY CAR. IT DOES GO OFF AFTER DRIVING A FEW MINUTES, BUT ALWAYS COMES BACK ON
THE FIRST TROUBLE STARTED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MILES/HOUR, MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO DRIVE AT THE SPEED THE CAR WOULD CHOOSE TO RUN AND IN A FEW MINUTES IT WOULD WORK FINE AGAIN. BUT THIS KEPT HAPPENING WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE THE CAR ON HIGHWAYS AND I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS SENSOR PROBLEMS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I USE AIR CONDITIONING, OR USE THE HEAD LIGHTS. CAR WILL RANDOMLY NOT TURN ON ALTHOUGH BATTERY IS NEW AND MAKES A HUMMING NOISE AS I TURN THE KEY.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON AND OFF THE SPEED SENSORS IN TRANSMISSIONS MAY HAVE FAILED
TAKATA RECALL. WHEN DRIVING UP TO 40 MPH MY STEERING WHEEL STARTS MAKING SOME FUNNY NOISE AND IT SHAKES REALLY BAD AT THE SAME TIME.
INTERMITTENT...CAR IS STATIONARY AND I ATTEMPT TO START CAR WITH PUSH START AND THE ENGINE WILL CRANK FOR APPROX 3 SECOND AND THEN START. I TURN CAR OFF AND HEAR A TICK TICK TICK FROM ENGINE. RESTARTS WITH NO HESITATION. THIS IS USUALLY AFTER A DRIVE AROUND TOWN AND THEN I COME HOME AND MAYBE ABOUT 6 HOURS LATER I'LL GO BACK INTO MY CAR AND IT WILL SPUTTER AGAIN. NO SOLUTION AS OF YET.
MY HUSBAND BACKED THE CAR UP 3 INCHES IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND THE FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE, SHOT THROUGH THE TIRE AND THE TIRE EXPLODED. WE BOUGHT OUR 2012 ELANTRA IN OCTOBER 2011 AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL OF THE 2011 ELANTRAS FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR CARS THAT ARE OWNED IN THE "SALT BELT" / COLD WEATHER STATES WHICH IS WHERE WE LIVE, BUT THE RECALL WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR ELANTRAS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 11/12/10 TO 3/31/11. MINE IS A 2012 WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2011AND MANUFACTURED SOMETIME BETWEEN MARCH 2011 AND OCTOBER 2011. I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT HYUNDAI, WHICH APPARENTLY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE UNTIL AN INCREASE IN WARRANTY CLAIMS ON THE ISSUE STARTED AN INVESTIGATION OF IT IN 2014, CHANGED THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS THEY WERE USING TO MANUFACTURE THE SAME CAR JUST 1 "YEAR" NEWER BETWEEN THE END OF THE RECALLED VEHICLE DATE AND THE MANUFACTURE DATE OF MY 2012 ELANTRA. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH, RELATIVELY NEW TIRES, AND FRONT STRUTS AND SPRINGS. I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE MORE VEHICLE YEARS SINCE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO REASON FOR THEM TO CHANGE THE PARTS THEY WERE USING BETWEEN 2011 AND 2012 MODELS IF THEY WERE UNAWARE OF A PROBLEM. ALSO, A 2012 ELANTRA THAT WAS POSSIBLE MANUFACTURED IN THE RECALL TIME FRAME SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
THE SUN VISOR BROKE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LOWER IT INTO POSITION WHILE DRIVING. THE PLASTIC PARTS THAT SURROUND THE ARM INSIDE OF THE VISOR BROKE. THE SOUND AND MOVEMENT OF THE BROKEN VISOR CAUSED ME A MOMENT OF STARTLED, DISTRACTED DRIVING UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER AND TRY TO DEAL WITH IT. THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP OR DOWN. IT HANGS IN MY LINE OF VISION AND CREATES A DRIVING HAZARD. IT ALSO HANGS TOO CLOSE TO MY HEAD AND CREATES A PHYSICAL HAZARD. I BUMPED MY HEAD ON IT YESTERDAY WHILE AT THE DRIVE-THROUGH PHARMACY. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THAT A WARNING (WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT INSIDE A TRIANGLE IN A YELLOW BOX) INDICATES THAT A CONDITION MAY RESULT IN HARM, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH IF THE WARNING IS IGNORED. THERE IS A WARNING ON PAGE 4-94 OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL THAT STATES, "WARNING FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT OBSTRUCT YOUR VISION WHEN USING THE SUNVISOR." HYUNDAI KNOWS THAT OBSTRUCTING ONE'S VISION WITH THE SUNVISOR MAY RESULT IN HARM, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. HYUNDAI KNOWS THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES, AS THEY HAVE ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS IN THE PAST (08-01-029, HYUNDAI RECALL CAMPAIGN T64) FOR THE SAME ISSUE. HYUNDAI KNOWS THAT THIS CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL ELANTRA, SANTA FE, ACCENT, SONATA, AND OTHER OWNERS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON @ 25900 MILES & MANUAL STATES BRING INTO DEALER RIGHT AWAY, THIS WAS ALSO CONFIRMED WITH A CALL TO THE DEALER.. WORK ORDER STATES"TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN" STATES TECHNICIAN UPDATED ELECTRICAL CONTROL UNIT, & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. MY CONCERN WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL ITEM. SINCE THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN PUT OUR IN THIS ISSUE.
IN MY ELANTRA 2012 THE LIGHT OF THE AIRBAG IS ON, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT SUFFERED ACCIDENTS OR STRONG BLOWS, AND HAS FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER (FOLLOWING THE MANUAL), (95K MILES). THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT MAY COME ON BECAUSE SOME OF THE SENSORS ARE DAMAGED; THE COST OF THE REPAIR CAN RANGE FROM $ 250 UP TO $ 3000. WITH THIS LIGHT ON, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. HYUNDAI HAS A GOOD REPUTATION, AND SAFETY SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE VAST MAJORITY OF ELANTRA OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. (GOOGLING). THE SOLUTION SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS A RECALL.
THE CLOCK SPRING HAS WORN AFTER ROUGHLY 55K MILES AND JUST BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER REPLACEMENT IS $300 AND AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WITHOUT REPAIR. THIS BEGAN AFTER GOING OVER ROUGH BRICK PAVERS AND THE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENTLY ON, PROBABLY ABOUT 80-90% OF THE TIME. AS I UNDERSTAND IT THE VERACRUZ AND SANTA FE MODELS HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE A FEW YEAR PRIOR (11-01-052) AND ONLINE SEARCHES SHOW THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH (AT LEAST) EARLY PRODUCTION ELANTAS. WHILE OWNER DIY REPLACEMENT IS POSSIBLE, IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED DUE TO SRS SYSTEM IMPORTANCE AS WELL AS LACK OF ABILITY TO RECALIBRATE SOFTWARE.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. CLAY COOLEY HYUNDAI DEALER IN ROCKWALL, TEXAS DIAGNOSIS WAS THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDING REPLACEMENT. HYUNDAI TOLD ME "NO DEALER IN THE COUNTRY HAS THIS PART RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER MUST MAKE NEW PARTS THAT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JUNE 2017." I WAS SENT AWAY AND TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MEANWHILE, MY AIRBAGS ARE DEACTIVATED AND MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTO PART STORE, BUT THE EMPLOYEE COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT FUSE THE VEHICLE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V871000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
THERE IS A LOT OF GIVE AND PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN YOU TURN IT THAT IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY TURN YOUR WHEELS.
ELANTRA WITH 1.8L ENGINE DEVELOPED AN ENGINE "TICKING" NOISE AT 60K MILES THAT DEVELOPED INTO A "KNOCKING" NOISE SHORTLY THERE AFTER. MAIN ROD BEARING FAILURE. HAD TO HAVE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK REPLACED. VEHICLE HAD SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE THAT INCLUDED OIL CHANGES MORE FREQUENTLY THAN REQUIRED. ENGINE WOULD HAVE DESTROYED ITSELF AND STALLED IF CONTINUED WITHOUT REPAIR. LIMITED SEARCH ON INTERNET SHOWED MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO NHTSA RECALL NHTSA REFERENCE #15V568000 ON HYUNDAI SONATA WITH 2.0L AND 2.4L ENGINES.
ENGINE TICKING. BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY INFORMED ME I NEED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME IF I DO NOT GET THE ENGINE FIXED AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT, IT COULD STALL AND OR POTENTIALLY BLOW UP. VEHICLE IS UNDER 100K MILES, HOWEVER I AM SECOND OWNER, SO IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DO HAVE ALL OF MY SERVICE RECORDS, I DEFINITELY MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE SO THERE IS NO REASON TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE ON MY BEHALF. HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED YET AS I DO NOT HAVE 8K LAYING AROUND TO DO SO. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR 2012 ELANTRA ENGINES AS IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM.
BROUGHT IT IN TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE AS IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALLED HYUNDAI SONATA ENGINES HAVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (HENDERSON HYUNDAI, 46 N BOULDER HWY, HENDERSON, NC 89015) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR WAS CLOGGED AND THE VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH REMAINED ON AFTER START, WENT OUT FOR SEVERAL MOMENTS THEN HAS REMAINED ON. IS REMAINING ON AFTER MULTIPLE RESTARTS.
YES , I HAVE BEEN BUYING LIGHT BULLS FOR MY CAR OVER THE LAST YEAR'S AND THEY GO OUT LESS THAN A MONTH TIME, I HAVE BROUGHT MORE THEN 10 AND THE PEOPLE AT THE PART STORE SAID IT'S A ELECTRIC PROBLEM, BUT THE PEOPLE AT DEALERSHIP WANT ME TO PAY 125 TO PUT IT ON THERE MACHINE. I DON'T THINK THAT'S FAIR.
CLICKING NOISE WHEN MOVING STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. BOTH STOPPED AND WHILE DRIVING. NO RECALL YET BUT WITH THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE, IT SHOULD BE. REPAIR ESTIMATE 425.00.
I HAD MY CAR FOR A YEAR AND 3MONTHS AND HAVEN'T HAD THIS PROBLEM TILL NOW I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I HIT A SMALL BUMP AND I'VE HIT BIGGER BUMPS AND NEVER EVER HAVE MY AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON, OR BREAK LIGHT MAY GO OUT IF I HIT A BUMP THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP AND IT SHOULDN'T BE A FEE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I'M NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE

SHOULD BE RECALLED BY NOW, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE!! NUMEROUS LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT, WAS TOLD IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE! AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH ON.
WHEN DRVING THE 2012 ELANTRA OVER A POT HOLE, A MAN HOLE OR ANY OTHER UNEVEN SURFACE OR IMPERFECTION ON THE ROAD THE ELANTRA SWAYS IN AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE MANNER, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FIRM GRIP IN THE STEERING WHEEL YOU CAN DEFINATELY LOOSE CONTROL AND HAVE OR CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HYUNDAI SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THERE ARE SO MANY OWNERS COMPLINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that when he started the vehicle, he heard a knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that an oil change was needed. The oil change was performed; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer for assistance since the vehicle was not under recall for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The consumer stated that their Hyundai was still under 100,000 warranty.
THE ENGINE IS MAKING A TICKING NOISE. WAS TOLD THAT THE LIFTERS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE IS TOO MUCH BACK PRESSURE. I WILL NEED A NEW ENGINE. SEVERAL OTHER MODELS ARE UNDER A RECALL BUT NOT THIS BRAND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE ESC INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT AND SEEMED TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
CAR WON'T START INTERMITTENTLY. HAD BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED. LIGHTS GO ON,RADIO WORKS BUT CAR WON'T START. CAR IS USUALLY PARKED IN A PARKING LOT OR DRIVEWAY. WEATHER IS NICE NOT TOO HOT OR TOO COLD.
OCCASIONALLY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY - ANY SPEED FROM 50-70 MPH - THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WILL FLASH, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NO ADVERSE CONDITIONS. WHILE THE LIGHT IS FLASHING, I CAN FEEL THAT MY LEFT REAR BRAKE IS APPLIED, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO CORRECT THE COURSE OF THE CAR. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. THIS DID NOT START HAPPENING UNTIL AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL SERVICE ASSOCIATED WITH CAMPAIGN 137 FOR THE THE YAW SENSOR (WHICH DESCRIBES THE EXACT SCENARIO I AM EXPERIENCING NOW). THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS SO FAR (DATE NOTED BELOW IS MOST RECENT INSTANCE). IN THAT TIME PERIOD I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY REAR ROTORS REPLACED, AND THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, THEY HAD HEATED UP SO MUCH FROM DRAGGING THAT THEY HAD FUSED ONTO THE ROTOR, AND THE CALIPER WAS BROKEN.
I JUST CRASHED THIS CAR YESTERDAY, 01/09/2017 ON RT. 724 BETWEEN BIRDSBORO, PA AND GIBRALTAR, PA. I WAS DRIVING WITH A 50-55 MPH ON A 55 MPH ROAD GOING TO WORK WITH ALMOST NO TRAFFIC. I WAS DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN IT HAPPENED, I WAS NOT EVEN TURNING.THE SKY WAS CLEAR AND NO DISTRACTIONS. SUDDENLY, THE CAR WHEELS WENT LEFT AND RIGHT AND THEN ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT TAKING ME TO OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CRASHING THE CAR IN A DITCH THEN FLIPPING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE(I ATTACHED PICTURES). MY TRIALS TO TURN IT BACK TO THE RIGHT ALL FAILED. EMT CAME AND WERE ABLE TO GET ME OUT. I ALMOST GOT KILLED. I DON'T DRINK OR SMOKE. I HEARD OF SEVERAL INCIDENTS LIKE THIS ABOUT THE STEERING IN ELANTRA. THE CAR HAS ONLY 56000 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS WITH STEERING. I FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO STEERING AT ALL. HYUNDAI MOTORS SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR SUCH FAULTS IN THEIR CARS AND AFFECTED OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE HYUNDAI AGAIN. (THE PICTURE SHOWING THE TIRE MARKS WAS TAKEN A FEW HOURS AFTER THE CRASH. IT SHOWS THAT THE ROAD WAS CLEAR AND CLEAN). *TR

SOLD A LEMON LAW BUYBACK CAR WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND I WAS TO SIGN A DOCUMENT STATING THAT I NEW THAT I WAS PURCHASING A LEMON LAW BUYBACK CAR. I DID NOT FIND OUT UNTIL I WENT TO GET THE PLATES FOR MY CAR AND THEY SHOWED ME THE TITLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND BASICALLY MY LOSS THEIR GAIN. MAY 2015 HAD TO REPLACE HOSE AND HAVE A/C RECHARGED COSTING ALMOST $300 JULY 2015 HAD TO HAVE BOTH FROM WHEEL BEARING REPLACED ALONG WITH TIRES COSTING ME $800 JUNE 2016 HAD TO HAVE END LINKS ON SWAY BAR AND CV JOINT AND SHAFT REPLACED. THIS WAS UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY STILL IN PLACE ON THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. WHEN TESTED SAID IT WAS AN O2 SENSOR. THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK STICKS. SO I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK IT FOR MY KEY FOB TO LOCK ALL OF THE DOORS. TODAY WAS JUST TOLD I NEED WHEEL BEARINGS AND TIRES ON THE FRONT END. I BELIEVE THIS CAR HAS TOO MANY ISSUES BEING A NEWER CAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS MANY ISSUES. ESPECIALLY A NEWER CAR. I CANNOT GET OUT OF THE LOAN BECAUSE IT IS A LEMON LAW BUYBACK AND THE RESALE ON IT IS HORRIBLE. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESET OR GET THE AIRBAG SENSOR TO TURN OFF. IT CAME ON FOR NO REASON, I WAS NOT IN A ACCIDENT. IT IS FAULTY. THE DEALER GAVE ME A REPAIR QUOTE THAT WAS RIDICULOUS - OVER $3000. LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM (SEE ONLINE), THIS SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE I THOUGHT I WOULD SEND A MESSAGE.
STEERING GETS STICKY OR STUCK. IT'S NOT LIKE IT GETS COMPLETELY STUCK THAT YOU CAN'T TURN THE WHEEL, BUT THERE'S A NOTICEABLE RESISTANCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND WANTING TO CHANGE LANES. LEFT OR RIGHT IT DOES IT BOTH WAYS.
I NOTICED I HAD TO AIR MY TIRE UP ONCE EVERY FEW DAYS, SO I THOUGHT THERE WAS A NAIL OR SLOW LEAK IN MY BRAND NEW TIRE, BUT THEN I HAD TO START AIRING IT UP DAILY, I THEN TOOK IT TO THE TIRE SHOP, THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO GET A NEW RIM BECAUSE THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE INSIDE OF MY RIM. BY THE TIME MY NEW RIM CAME IN I WAS HAVING TO AIR MY TIRE UP EVERY HOUR. I KEPT THE CRACKED RIM. I WAS DRIVING WHEN I NOTICED IT GOING LOW. IT DID CAUSE A BLOWOUT ON MY NEW TIRE, THERE IS NO REASON A 4 YEAR OLD RIM SHOULD HAVE CRACKED ON THE INSIDE. THEY ARE ALLOY WHEELS. BUT I HAD TO PAY ALMOST 200 DOLLARS FOR A NEW RIM AND THEN ANOTHER 100 ON A NEW TIRE AFTER I HAD JUST BOUGHT 4 OF THEM. THERE HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT ON THE ALLOY WHEELS. IF THE RIM WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO BE ON THE FRONT OF MY CAR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL CRASH. *TR

DEALER REFUSES TO CONTRIBUTE ANY MONEY. WANTS $6200 TO REPAIR WITH REMANUF ENGINE. WON'T PROVIDE FORM ESTIMATE. CAR CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS: NO OVERHEATING, NO OIL LIGHTS, NO NOISES. ALL DEALER WOULD DO IS REMOVE VALVE COVER AND SEND PICS WHICH IT SAYS SHOWS SLUDGE.

MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. HYUNDAI OF AMERICA WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE MY ENGINE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ALL MY OIL AND MAINTENANCE RECEIPTS. I HAVE ANOTHER 2006 SATURN THAT I MAINTAINED THE SAME WAY AND IT IS DRIVING PERFECTLY. PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL FOR ENGINE FAILURE FOR ELANDRAS BUILT IN ALABAMA IN 2012. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR HAVE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS.
