TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, A LOUD ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND OBSERVED THAT THE SUN ROOF FRACTURED. THE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS NOTIFIED BECAUSE THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE TURNPIKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (JAMES HODGE HYUNDAI, 1330 N MAIN ST, MUSKOGEE, OK, 74401) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE SUN ROOF FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HEARD OF THE FAILURE, BUT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED IT LOCALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000.

THE CONTACT PLACED THE SUN VISOR IN THE CORRECT UPWARD POSITION, BUT IT WOULD NOT REMAIN SECURED. IN ADDITION, THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN OPERATION.
