I have noticed while driving my seat belts in passenger and driver side will come un latched while driving.
I have a 2021 Hyundai Palisade with 65,000 miles on it and rear struts have already become an issue. I just (this week) replaced all four tires and did 65,000 mile routine maintenance on this vehicle. During these services, it was inspected by local Hyundai dealership and they confirmed the need for them to be replaced but car is available for additional inspection at any time. We first noticed a slight noise coming from the rear end about 4 months ago and it's progressively gotten worse and more frequent. I drive a considerable amount for work and I'm very concerned this is going to cause handling issues while on the road, especially during rainy weather. Internet forums are full of complaints of the same nature with these vehicles with low mileage. I don't know why Hyundai is not addressing this as a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the seat belts in the second row of the vehicle on the passenger’s and driver’s side failed to latch securely and unlatched while driving. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to latch the seat belts. Additionally, the seat belts intermittently unlatched while driving at various speeds. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
My Hyundai Palisade engine light came on and started missing. Engine was making a rattling noise under hood and felt like it was going to die, Took to Dealer and code p0087 p219e were low and inbalanced also 3 fuel injector was bad and 1 cylinder was bad that was on 12-8-23 on 12-21-23 when going uphill it downshifts and noise from hood engie sputter and acts like its going to die , Also rattling under hood. checked code engine oil pressure too low oil was 4 quarrts low no leaks found topped off and marked drain plug , wanted me to drive for 1000 miles and bring back in. at no time did my oil light come on when it was low. 1/8/24 took it in cause it had used oil oil housing unit was leaking they replaced that and they did a oil change on it said i needed to come back in 1000 miles 2/6/24 oil check combustion chamber cleaning vehicle used 069 quarts of oil in 1,164 miles 2/8/24 when driving it has no power or shift. 2/26/24 got in vehicle and the speedometer that told miles per gallon was at 5.0 and was going up to 10 and back down i took it and dropped it off at the dealer and have had every since. i have been waiting on a new motor since 2/26/24 it is now 10/24/24 i had to drive my car for 1000 milles several times for with these issues. i could of caused an accident or been hit. this put my life in danger and the lifes of my family. i have documents to prove this as well At this time saleman were trying to get me to trade my car in i have numerous text, calls and emails i had to get rude with them so they would leave me alone. i have been having issues since December 2023 its now October 2024 i still do not have my car, i have been making payments. They say they cant tell me when they will get the parts to fix my car, they are on backorder,. i have been in touch with Hyandai America. They have not got any issues resolved either. i contacted them in August of 24 . i feel like i am just getting the run around.
when driving along, and trying to turn the steering wheel, the wheel locks up and won't allow it to be turned. It's almost like the steering wheel has been hydraulically blocked. It has happened numerous times over the past 2-3 months. usually, at slower speeds or coming out of a stop light on surface roads.
The 2nd row seatbelt located on the left driver side is malfunctioning. The seatbelt will spontaneously come unbuckled while the passenger is buckled up and the vehicle is in motion. The problem has been reproduced more then I count when my children are riding in the car. The seatbelt spontaneously malfunctions and unbuckles. The passenger seatbelt will alarm on the dash until the passenger has engaged the buckle again. The buckle has been like this since I purchased the car. I used to think my son was just fooling around and unbuckled his seatbelt, but he’d swear up and down he didn’t unbuckle and that the seatbelt came unbuckled on its own. I have three children and all of them have had the seatbelt come unbuckled while riding in the 2nd row seat on the drivers side. This occurs at least 1x per week and happens within the first 15 -30 minutes of driving. The seatbelt unbuckling is a safety risk to everyone of my children who sit in that seat. The safety and security of my children are at risk and the dealership where I bought the car has been no help. The dealership disregarded my concerns when I asked how to report my safety concern and said to make sure they push down when they buckle.
The rear seat belts in the captain chairs unbuckle without any action from the passengers, no force or impact, etc. Just mid-drive, they release from the buckle.
When locking the doors upon exiting my Palisade, the alarm starts going off. This occurs when I use the door lock (internal and external), as well as the lock button on the key fob. When this occurs, two alerts come to my phone through Bluelink simultaneously. One is showing a Rear Occupancy Alert and the other shows a Panic Alert. My vehicle has been to the dealership 3 times in the past month, and the most recent time, it was there for 6 days. They have replaced sensors, issued updates, changed the key fob batteries, reprogrammed the fobs, checked all connections under the seats, etc. I have made sure all items are removed from the seats and even removed an air freshener that was hanging from my mirror, as I was told this could be causing the issue. The car is always vacant when this occurs, and service department members of the Hyundai dealership have also witnessed the occurrence as the alarm and notifications occurred when I dropped it off for service. I am fearful that the electrical issues may progress if the root cause is not identified.
Update to complaint #11631235 At time of original complaint submission, I was unable to figure out how to share the video documentation of the vehicle speedomoter defect. Having since figured it out, I want to share this evidence with the NHTSA
Car is burning an excessive amount of oil. Need to put 2 quarts in weekly. 90,000 miles
In the second row, the middle seat belt will not retract.
Knocking noise at back when driving was told it was the rear shocks. Was told by dealership on 4/4/2024 that there is a TBS regarding this issue.
I’m having trouble with getting insurance protection on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade. It appears that the SUV is easy to seal. State Farm and Travelers insurance company will not write a policy on a Hyundai vehicle.
The rear captain's chair seat belt on the driver's side of the vehicle does not latch properly. There have been multiple occasions where my kids buckle and then the buckle comes undone while we are driving. I initially thought the kids were not buckling properly, so I investigated myself and still found that the seat belt clicks but doesn't stay latched. It is not 100% of the time, so it can still latch and stay latched, but with it being a seat my kids ride in, anything less than 100% is not acceptable.
Seat belts do not fully latch despite being inserted fully. It takes multiple attempts to get the tongue to latch into the buckle. This has happened to three separate individuals from my household across multiple instances, and has impacted the driver seat belt buckle, front passenger belt buckle, and second row passenger belt buckles. There are many reports of this happening to other consumers (a quick google search of “Hyundai palisade seatbelt issues” brings up multiple complaints).
2nd row passenger seat belt, releases randomly, and or takes multiple attempts to get it to connect and hold. The seat belt is available for inspection. Children / Passenger safety at risk if belt detaches in an accident Issue has been reported to dealer multiple times, dealer fails to act. They have not replicated the issue because they will not schedule an appointment to address it and have ignored the request during standard oil change appointments. Component has not been expected by others There were nowaring lamps or messages when incident occurs
Within the last few months (car is 3 yrs old), the second-row, left-side seatbelt will randomly come unbuckled. The passenger clicks the seatbelt in, and within a few minutes, it pops out. Sometimes happens multiple times on one trip. Happens with lots of different people and didn't use to happen, so it is not user error. I'm worried that it will not hold up in an accident. No warning lights, messages, or other symptoms. I have it booked in to get repaired at the dealer but I'm skeptical they'll be able to fix it. I have found multiple people online with the same problem and they haven't been able to get it fixed. The problem does not appear to be able to be reproduced.
After driving, the rear driver and passenger side doors will lock and unlock, eventually causing the Child Safety Lock Failure message to be shown. Child safety lock was on in the car. I brought car to dealership and no problem was found on inspection.
After driving for 15 minutes, the rear driver and passenger side doors will lock and unlock, eventually causing the Child Safety Lock Failure message to be shown. Child safety lock was on in the car.
Child safety locks for doors is not working properly. Clicking sound constantly when the button is pressed. A “child safety lock failure” message comes up.
I've had several instances where the car didn't turn over and all technology screens began glitching, clicking and stating the key wasn't in the car.
On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in Cedar Rapids to our daughter’s in Cottage Grove Wisconsin for a family event. Nearing Madison, somewhere in the area of Verona the Battery Warning Symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in Cottage Grove. We called AAA and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in Cottage Grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the Madison Beltline Highway the following occurred without warning: •The central navigation display went blank •A number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •Power steering was lost •The emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •A lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display This was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (Fish Hatchery Road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.
Hyndai recalled our vehicle for a tow hitch wiring problem last year. Instead of resolving the issue, they simply pulled the fuse and told us that we cannot tow with lights until they resolve the recall. My understanding is that this recall has been on the books for over a year now. This is extremely frustrating as I am not able to use the tow capability that I paid for when purchasing this vehicle and according to the dealer, no fix has been provided. How do I complain? How do I get something done here? Thank you.
On 7/23 my family experience a very horrific event. While traveling on a road at approximately 35 mph our rear passenger window exploded. The explosion was unexpected and dangerously unsafe. There was debri of broken glass all over our bodies , hair, clothing and inside our vehicle. Luckily our family was not injured. Since then our family has really questioned the safety of your vehicles after learning that this type of event is happening to other hyundai palisade owners. I created a case and have not heard back from anyone nor any dealership cannot provide assistance in my area. My kids and family are afraid to get into a vehicle we thought was safe but apparently is not. I need someone to call me and I need to stop being transferred over and over to different customer service reps and need hyundai to take responsibility for our loss family time, appointments and mental insecurities caused by this explosion.
1) While I was driving, the “Rear passenger door trim” started to come off of my car. My car was not hit and I did not hit anything. Upon further evaluation, the plastic pieces holding the trim on were broken. How they became broken is unknown. I was able to reattach trim to my car, but it is still loose because the plastic pieces holding the trim on are still broken. 2) It was a safety hazard to others while driving on the road. If it flew off my car while driving on the highway, it could hit other cars, potentially causing an accident. In addition, it was difficult for my child to climb out of the car without getting cut by the trim. 3) my dealer has verified that the trim is broken and loose on my car. 4) the Hyundai dealer has inspected to problem. $550 was the verbal quote to replace. Not covered by warranty. 5) no warning messages for the problem. My child told me about it when she tried to get out of the rear passenger door. Problem first noticed July 2023. Looking online, multiple people have complained about this happening to them for no reason on the same exact car. I believe the plastic pieces holding the trim on the car are defective.
Second row passenger side seat belt would come undone while driving. This would usually happen while under pressure rounding corners. Addressed with dealership during routine maintenance. Buckle was replaced and have not had any issues since.
Sun roof glass spontaneously shattered while driving on the freeway without hitting anything else with glass falling on to the Sun shade
Child locks constantly click, car can be on or off. Dash displays child lock failure.
The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 50 MPH, a rock from a truck struck the front windshield and caused the windshield to crack. While parked under a tree, an unknown object struck the front windshield and the windshield shattered. There was a line across the entire windshield. The vehicle was taken to a glass replacement facility where the windshield was replaced but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,890.
I was driving in the highway in fairly heavy rain. My lane departure system went offline first. Next my forward collision went offline. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and the vehicle started shaking. I stopped under a bridge and waited for the rain to slow. I turned the car off and on, but the issues remained. I was forced to drive 10 miles, at 30 mph, on the highway, with hazards on, to a hotel. This caused an unnecessary unsafe situation. The next day, I took to the dealer. The car ran fine. They reset the codes and said it was likely water getting into the cylinders causing 4 and 6 to fail. I really dont feel a car should do this from driving in the rain. This also caused me an unnecessary hotel stay.
When turning slowly or going over bumps at a lower speed, a thud or pop can be heard from the rear, which could be the shocks or struts in the rear. On a luxury vehicle, with this low of miles, these shouldn't need replacement so quickly. No warning lights or messages.
The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 30-40 MPH, he heard a noise coming from the windshield. The following day, there was a scratch on the passenger's side lower corner of the windshield, which later became a spider web crack. The windshield was replaced at an auto collision repair shop. The contact stated while driving 30-40 MPH on another occasion, a truck passed the vehicle, and a tiny rock struck the passenger's side lower corner of the windshield, causing a crack on the windshield. The contact stated that the crack later expanded, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the windshield was replaced; however, the failure recurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
I've had several instances where the car didn't turn over and all technology screens began glitching, clicking and stating the key wasn't in the car. After a few tries, it would start up. Ice also experienced engine failure WHILE driving. The first time was at a stop light and the engine completely shut off and I had to park, and restart it. This has happened twice. When it did, all of the screens were glitching, flashing, lights came on/off, and then went black. The next time it happened, I was on the highway and it started to sputter, jerk (like it was running out of gas but I had over 1/4 tank).
My locks start making a clicking noise randomly, sometime when vehicle is off some times when it is going down the road. It makes a series of clicks, sounds like doors are locking and unlocking, then I get a warning that pops up on dash that says child safety lock failure. When I took it to the dealership they could not get any failure codes when they hooked up computer.
The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V633000 (Trailer Hitches) and 22V627000 (Visibility) however, the part to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the passenger's door failed to unlock as needed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
The sunroof exploded and shattered while driving on the highway. It was very loud and startling and could have caused us to get in a wreck as it sounded like a gun went off. Also, we then had to drive with a hand on the sunroof cover so the glass wouldn't come into the car as it was very windy and it was unclear if the cover would stay shut. There were no warnings whatsoever. It is at the dealership now and has been confirmed.

Analog speedometer needle gets stuck at a certain speed OR increases beyond actual speed without limit OR displays incorrect speed OR remains stuck at a certain speed when parked. Digital speedometer functions as intended.
There is a knocking or clunking noise from the rear of the vehicle when driving on bumpy roads at low speeds.
Second row window seat seat belt doesn't latch properly, will latch and come unlatched. Backup parking sensor goes off, back up camera stopped working
Rear passenger seat belt has come unbuckled at least 6 times while driving. The chimes/alert will start going off. This happens randomly (no hard braking, etc occurring prior to seat belt coming unbuckled). At this point, we are not allowing anyone to sit in this seat due to the safety concerns. We've taken the vehicle in twice to the Hyundai dealership and they were not able to reproduce the issue the first time. The second time, they didn't test it as they wanted to keep the vehicle for a couple days. No warning messages etc occurred prior to the seat belt coming unbuckled-only after the fact.
The child safety locks keep failing. When engaged, the child safety locks continue to click as if they are locking the doors again and again. Then sometimes, but not every time, the child safety lock failure error message is displayed. This is extremely dangerous because if the child locks do not work my children can open the doors while I am driving, putting everyone at risk. This is also in credibly annoying and distracting while driving. making it unsafe to drive while the locks are engaged. The car has been to the dealer for inspection and they can not seem to replicate it, though we are still working with them to try and figure this out. The issue started around 11,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 30-40 MPH, he heard abnormal rattling sounds coming from the front driver's side ceiling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately six times. The dealer test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the abnormal sounds were coming from front driver's side headrest. The dealer replaced unknown components of the headrest; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 2,431.
While driving my Hyndua Palisades on the Southern State Parkway at 55mph, my car shut off. When it happened, I didn't know what was going on. All of the lights on the vehicle went off, and then it shut off while I was still driving it. My 11yr old son and I could have been killed. When is Hyundai going to address the significant problem? My son no longer wants to ride in my car because he has been traumatized by this incident, and I cannot blame him. I have avoided driving on major highways because of this issue. I should not be experiencing this problem with a car that isn't even 3yrs old. How isn't anyone stepping in to ensure Hyundai takes care of this LIFE THREATING PROBLEM? What is Hyundai waiting for, someone to lose their life while driving their vehicle? If you are thinking of getting a Hyundai, DONT.
The vehicle accelerated 4 times on its own to the point where i got scared. In addition, it shakes so bad between speeds changes. At first, i thought i got hit by another vehicle from the back. Moreover, over the past two (2) months, the steering wheel has been making some noise as if a plastic bag was being moved. I hope this description makes a sense in regard to the steering wheel situation.
Sudden powertrain failure. Car started to decelerate on its own. The car started to vibrate when accelerator was pressed. Car was in high speed and could have stalled and the passengers could have been killed. Hyundai has refused to honor the powertrain warranty and has attributed the entire transmission failure to bad gas which is very very unlikely. Have contacted Hyundai USA and got no substantial help. Hudson Hyundai is the dealer and is notorious in their treatment of customers. The company needs to issue a recall of 2021 pallisades before a major accident.
Driving down I-5 and heard an extremely loud explosion above driver and passenger seats. Upon inspection at home, the sunroof has shattered with a hole directly in the middle of the unit. No debris or vehicles were in front of the vehicle during the incident.
While driving our Palisade on the freeway, the sunroof exploded without warning. Fortunately, the sunroof was closed and we had the internal compartment closed and no one was behind us on the freeway. So the glass did not enter the vehicle or hit another vehicle. But if the indoor compartment was open then glass would have entered into the vehicle and striking individuals in the car. The shattered glass did do damage to the top of our car (i.e. scratches deep enough to take off the paint completely). Based on online forums, and one law firm’s (based in Connecticut) website, this is a known problem with the Hyundai Palisade. It also appears that the NHTSA is investigating the Kia Sorento for this same problem. Thus, the problem has been replicated in other vehicles and Kia/Hyundai are aware of the problem. Our vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone (we are taking it to the dealer in the near future). There was no warning that this was going to happen, it just sounded like a gun was being fired in our car.
The contact owns 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V180000 (Visibility, Wiper) and 22V633000 (Trailer Hitches). The contact stated that the fuse was removed from the tow hitch, rendering the tow hitch inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to provide assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Auto-off reengaging makes the steering wheel jerk abruptly to the side and creates loud thinking noise which is startling to the driver. I was able to replicate at the dealer and have it on video. Dealer reports this is normal for the vehicle and they are unable to rectify.
