TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE VEHICLE'S CRANKSHAFT SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AT 60,000, 62,000, AND 80,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, THE ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AFTER 100 YARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS BAD. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL # 03V030000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY). THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 100,211 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
4/6/06 I HAD AN AUTO ACCIDENT GOING 75 MPH IN A 70 ZONE. FULL IMPACT OF MY FRONT END TO THE OPPOSING PARTIES VEHICLE (SUV). I DID A 360 AND FLIPPED AND LANDED ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. NEITHER DRIVER SIDE OR PASSENGER SIDE. I SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES - CURRENTLY IN TREATMENT. MY VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND IS NOW IN A SALVAGE YARD.
DRIVER NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE TRACK CONTROL ENGAGED . THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN ON ITS OWN WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKES. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLETO THE DEALER, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE CONSUMER'S 2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED AND SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. *NM THE COMPANY HAS ANOTHER 2002 SANTA FE( VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER KMHSC81BP2U260090) THAT HAS THE SAME UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER. NUMEROUS SERVICE HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.
MY 2002 V6 4WHEEL DR HYUNDAI SANTA FE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65- 70 MPH DROPPED A DRIVE LINE, IGNITING FLAMES TO THE REAR OF THE CAR. LITHIA OF FRESNO CLAIMS IT WAS DUE TO LOW FLUIDS IN THE TRANSFER CASE, THUS IT OVERHEATED AND THE LINE SNAPPED OFF. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED 2 WEEKS PRIOR, THE FLUIDS WERE FINE, THE TRANSFER CASE WAS OKAY. THERE WAS A VAGUE HUM IN THE DRIVE OF THE CAR AFTER RETURNING FROM THE MOUNTAINS THE WEEK PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. OTHER 2ND OPINIONS BELIEVE THE AUTO SWITCH IN THE SMART SYSTEM FAILED AND LEFT IT STUCK IN 4WHEEL DR HENCE OVERHEATING THE TRANSFER CASE. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARANTY FOR REPAIRS (120,000 ON POWER TRAIN/ENGINE) THEY DENIED THE WARANTY COVERAGE, SO IT'S NOT REPAIRED. ESTIMATE IS OVER $6,000.00. THERE SHOULD BE AN INDICATOR LIGHT IN THE CAR AS TO WHAT DRIVE IT'S IN, AND ENGINEERING MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND HAZZARD. INVESTIGATE PLEASE.*AK
FRONT BRAKES REPAIRED, I WAS INFORMED THAT CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT ON RIGHT TIRE WERE BAD, PARTS WERE LOOSE AND NOT STATIONARY. *BF THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT TIRE WERE BALD ON THE INSIDE DUE TO THE WAY THE ALIGNMENT HAD CHANGED AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECTIVE PART. *SC
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK IT TAKES 15 MINS TO FILL IT KEEPS COMING OUT THE FILLER TUBE ALL OVER THE CAR I HAVE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH MY 2002 SANTA FE. THE FIRST BEING 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I HEARD A CONSTANT GRINDING NOISE AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE SUSPSENION NOT RESPONDING SMOOTHLY. WHEN THE DEALER CHECKED THE PROBLEM, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. SINCE THIS TIME, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED FREQUENTLY, (SINCE I PERCEIVE A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH GRINDING AND PROBLEMS STOPPING...THE CAR DOESN'T STOP WELL)...AND I'M OFTEN AFRAID IT WON'T STOP. THIS SUMMER AFTER HAVING THE BRAKES CHECKED, WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED RESULTING IN MY VEHICLE HITTING ANOTHER PARKED CAR. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF...NOT YET BEING IN THE SPOT COMPLETELY. MY REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED EVERY 6 - 8 MONTHS SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. MY MECHANIC STATES THAT THE BRAKES FOR THE SANTA FE'S ARE CONFIGURED LIKE SMALL CAR BRAKES AND ARE NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THIS SIZE VEHICLE THUS REQUIRING THEM TO BE REPLACED OFTEN. ANOTHER, SEPARATE INCIDENT OCCURED APPROX 6 MONTHS AGO, AGAIN WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP (HEARD A CLICKING/GRINDING NOISE). HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BALL JOINTS (I THINK IT WAS ALSO THE BALL JOINTS) AND FRONT AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THE CRACK IN THE AXLE, BUT WAS NOT USER CAUSED. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THREE PRIOR OCCASIONS AND THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED EACH TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118000.
PURCHASED "NEW" IT TOOK OVER SIX HOURS TO DELIVER THE VEHICLE ON SITE. 1.)THE "SECURITY SYSTEM FAILED RETURNED TO JIM ELLIS; "NO CORRECTION" TO DATE. 2.)SEVERAL OTHER DEFECTS EXISTED: BATTERY FAILED LEAVING ME STRANDED AT LEAST TWICE, BRAKES WARE QUICKLY AND REPEATEDLY REQUIRE REPAIRS, HEATED SEATS ON AT "ALL" TIMES, THE TEMPERATURE REMAINS ON "CELSIUS" RATHER THAN ON THAN "FEREINHEIGHT" TEMPERATURES, CLOCK WON'T SET TO CURRENT MONTH,DATE, YEAR. 3.)THE 10 YEAR;100 MILE WARRANTY IS DISREGARDED/MINIMIZED; FROM 24,000 MILES. 4.) WHILE IN FOR DEFECT REVIEW; THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO ME FROM 2 DEALERSHIPS WITH "DINGS" UP AND DOWN THE SIDE; DENTS ON CORNERS(PHYSICAL DAMAGE). IN ADDITION REPAIRS WEREN'T MADE AND MANAGERS LOOKED THE "OTHER WAY" AND FAILED TO RETURN CALLS OR RESPOND TO LETTERS. ALSO THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT BECAME A NEW ISSUE AND DEFECT INITIATED THE EVENING THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED HOME. WAS TOLD TO ANTICIPATE ENGINE TROUBLE TO BE INITIATED IN THE NEAR FUTURE DESPITE THE OIL CHANGE DATE BEING WITHIN LIMITS. WAS TOLD THAT EXCESSIVE OIL EXISTED AND BLAMED ME. THEN DEMANDED I PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS "BEFORE" THEY'D RELEASE CAR TO ME.(NEEDED FOR WORK). MGRS WERE DEFENSIVE AND SHUT DOWN REGARDING INFORMATION. 5.)THE "RECALLS" AREN'T RECOGNIZED OR CORRECTED ON 1ST,2ND, OR 3RD REQUEST-I'M TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY DON'T HAVE THE COMPUTER TO DO IT. *JB
TOOK MY CAR IN TO A GARAGE FOR PARTS AND LABOR TOTALING 874.00 BEFORE LEAVING I WAS TOLD THAT MY SUBFRAME WAS TERRIBLY RUSTED OUT AND TO GET RID OF THE CAR QUICKLY. I ASKED TO SEE AND TOOK A COUPLE OF PICTURES.AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOUND OUT ABOUT A RECALL FOR THIS.THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WOULD INCLUDE ME AS I WORKED IN OHIO.WHICH IS A SALTBLELT STATE. I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION WHICH THEY ARE SUBMITTING PICS TO HYUNDAI. THEY SAID I WOULD BE DENIED HOWEVER BECAUSE OF A SALVAGED TITLE WHICH I EXPLAINED HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL OR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.IT IS A MATTER OF SAFETY AND THEY NEED TO FIX IT. I ONLY HAVE 104,000.00 ON A CAR THAT IS RUSTING SO BADLY THE BOTTOM COULD FALL OUT.
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED AN ALARMING GRINDING SOUND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE. GRINDING SOUND OF THE BRAKES OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON SNOW-COVERED ROADS. (NAR) *LA ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. *NM
2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS THOUGHTS THAT RECALLS WERE NOT HANDLED PROPERLY AND THAT FURTHER ACTION IS NECESSARY. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A LOUD CREAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.
2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. CONSUMER EXPRESS DISCONTENT REGARDING RECALL REPAIR *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE IS STILL WAITING FOR THE REPAIR TO BE MADE TO HER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE TWO APPOINTMENTS, AND BOTH TIMES SHE WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
2002 HYUNDAI SANTE FE. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING A RECALL ISSUE *TGW THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. SHE PLACED A CALL TO THREE DEALERSHIPS TO TRY AND GET THE VEHICLE INSPECTED FOR THE RECALL. ALL THREE DEALERSHIPS COULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE WITHIN A WEEKS TIME FRAME. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL MAY OR JUNE DUE TO THE BACK-UP OF REPAIRS DUE TO THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER INQUIRED ABOUT A LOANER VEHICLE FOR THE TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD HYUNDAI WAS NOT PROVIDING LOANER VEHICLES. THE CONSUMER ALSO LEARNED THE RECALL HAD BEEN EFFECT SINCE JULY 2009 AND SHE WANTED TO KNOW WHY WAS SHE JUST BEING INFORMED. SHE WAS INFORMED THE NOTICES WERE SENT OUT IN WAVES. *JB
