TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS AND SEAT BELT BUCKLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
STARTED TO BACK MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. STOPPED, GOT OUT AND INSPECTED TO FIND THAT THE FRONT RIGHT COIL SPRING HAD SNAPPED AND PUNCTURED MY TIRE. VEHICLE IS UNDRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. I HAVE READ DOZENS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME THING HAPPENING ON OTHER 2005 HYUNDAIS. HYUNDAI REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM/DEFECT. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AS I'M SURE SERIOUS INJURY/DAMAGE WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. *TR
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT 4AM TO GO TO WORK. I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. MY DRIVEWAY IS NOT LONG AND I AM ON THE ROAD IN ABOUT 5 FT. AS I WAS TURNING THE WHEEL I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR WENT DOWN. I ASSUMED I RAN OVER SOMETHING OR THAT MY BRAND NEW TIRES HAD FAILED. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. LATER THAT DAY AS MY HUSBAND WAS CHANGING THE TIRE HE DISCOVERED THE RIGHT FRONT COIL HAD BROKE AND IT PUNCTURED THE TIRE. THANK GOODNESS THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. BY READING ALL THE OTHER BROKEN COIL ISSUES THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A BIG PROBLEM FOR 2005 HYUNDAI'S AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND INVESTIGATED. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 9 PM LOUD POP AND PULLED OVER THOUGHT HAD BLOWOUT ON MY 6 WEEK OLD NEW FRONT TIRES! DISCOVERED MY FRONT RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKE. POPPED THRU MY TIRE. OUT IN FREEZING COLD HAD TO BE TOWED AND NOW HAVE NO CAR TIL FIXED, SEEING OTHERS ON HERE WITH SAME CAR SAME ISSUE. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2013. WE HAD IT ALMOST A MONTH WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP ON ME. THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE LINE BLEW OUT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THAT WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY FIXED THE LINE. THREE DAYS LATER THE STEERING WENT AGAIN WE GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE US $300.00. I GOT UPSET BUT THE MOST THEY WOULD DO FOR ME WAS SPLIT THE COST.THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER I STARTED TO SMELL GAS. I DIDN'T SEE ANY THING ON THE GROUND SO I LEFT IT GO. THEN IN NOVEMBER 2013 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND ALSO THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF AND THE BELL WOULD DING AS IF THE SEAT BELT WASN'T BUCKLED BUT IT WAS.I JUST HAD IT TESTED BY A HYUNDAI DEALER AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE SENSOR IN THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY THAT CAUSES THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE SEAT BELT LIGHT AND BELL TO GO OFF. THE MECHANIC ALSO SAID THAT THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE IN THE GAS TANK. THE WHOLE REPAIR WILL COST ME ABOUT $2000.00 TO HAVE REPAIRED AND I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. IF THE SENSOR IS NOT REPLACED HE SAID THE AIR BAG WILL PROBABLY NOT DEPLOY IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE SENSOR AT LEAST BECAUSE THAT SHOULDN'T BE SUBJECT TO WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
AIR BAG/OCS LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY DISPLAYS ON CONTROL PANEL.VIN NUMBER FOR THIS MODEL DOES NOT APPEAR UNDER 2005 NHTSA AIRBAG RECALL NUMBER 05V450000. *TR
STARTED ENGINE. PLACED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SELECTION INTO REVERSE. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY HAD AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION TO PERHAPS 2500 RPM. OPERATOR IMMEDIATELY APPLIED VERY HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP ANY REAR DIRECTION MOVEMENT. OPERATOR IMMEDIATELY MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER BACK TO THE PARK POSITION, SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING, EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAD ALSO OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME IN SEPTEMBER, 2013 UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES. OPERATOR INITIALLY ASSUMED THAT PERHAPS HIS FOOT HAD MOVED TO THE RIGHT AND WAS DEPRESSING BOTH THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME, BUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SEE IF THIS COULD BE DONE, OPERATOR COULD NOT REPLICATE. IT IS ASSUMED THE THROTTLE SENSOR LOCATOR MAY BE FAULTY. VERY DISTURBING WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN PROPERTY OR PERSONAL DAMAGE.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, HE SMELLED GASOLINE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE FUEL TANK DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,264. ME AND MY 5 MONTH OLD SON GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT IN OUR 2005 SANTA FE...FRONT END COLLISION. THE OTHER VEHICLE IS TOTALED AND MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED WHEN THEY DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE. I SMASH MY HEAD DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING BUT EVERYONE ELSE WAS SAFE!! *TR
THE CAR IS REGISTERED TO ME AND MY DAUGHTER USES IT. SHE WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SERIOUS SITUATION WITH CORROSION IN THE FRONT COIL SPRING AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS IT COULD CAUSE A TIRE TO BLOW OUT. A WEEK LATER I RECEIVED AN "INTERIM NOTICE" OF AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FROM HYUNDAI. APPARENTLY THERE IS NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME. I CALLED TWO DEALERS AND THEY HAVE NO PARTS OR INSTRUCTIONS TO REMEDY THE SITUATION AT THIS TIME. WHEN WILL THERE BE A REMEDY? HOPEFULLY IT HAPPENS BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS! *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY DUE TO A FAILURE WITHIN THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN TO INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON/OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WHEN AN OCCUPANT IS IN THE FRONT SEAT, THE LIGHT IS GENERALLY OFF, BUT IF THE OCCUPANT MOVES OR CHANGES HIS/HER POSITION IN THE FRONT SEAT, THE LIGHT WOULD ACTIVATE AGAIN, IF ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOW ON AT ALL TIMES AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. *TR
IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE WHEN THE REDUCE SPEED/COAST BUTTON WAS PUSHED. THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT THE FIRST SUCH INCIDENT; AT LEAST 10 SIMILAR INCIDENTS OCCURRED PREVIOUS TO THAT INCIDENT, AND 4 INCIDENTS SINCE. *TR
SEAT BELT LIGHT REMAINS ON, AND ADVISED BY MECHANIC THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY DUE TO A FAULTY CONNECTION IN THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. SEVERAL REPORTED ISSUES WITH THIS, SO WHY HASN'T HYUNDAI RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY ISSUE? MY DAUGHTER OF 21 IS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS A SECOND VEHICLE. I'M VERY WORRIED ABOUT HER SAFETY. *TR

THE CONTACT ASKED IF THE FAILURE WAS THE SAME AS THAT LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V450000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE THE SAME, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN A PASSENGER THAT WEIGHED 120 POUNDS SAT IN THE SEAT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN A PASSENGER THAT WEIGHED 170 POUNDS OCCUPIED THE SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE OC SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000. UPDATED 9/4/14*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE OCS SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, ON A MAJOR LOCAL INTERSTATE, MY CHECK BRAKE LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN, BUT FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD GONE SOFT AND I ENDED UP HAVING TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD TO GET ANY RESISTANCE. I MANAGED TO DRIVE IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP A MILE AWAY WHERE THEY REALIZED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS EMPTY DUE TO A RUPTURED SEAL IN THE BRAKE CALIBER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THEY FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRINGS WERE DAMAGED. THE PASSENGER SIDE COIL HAD LITERALLY SNAPPED IN HALF AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE COIL WAS DISLOCATED AND BROKEN. MY CAR HAD JUST BEEN IN THE SAME DEALERSHIP ONE WEEK PRIOR HAVING A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN IT (UNDER WARRANTY). AS NO LOUD BANG OR NOISE OCCURRED AS WITH THE MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM, I CAN ONLY ASSUME THE COILS BROKE OR SHIFTED DURING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WHEN THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR WAS ON THE LIFT, AND NOT ON THE SUSPENSION. THE GROSS NEGLIGENCE THAT NEITHER OF THESE COILS WERE FOUND BROKEN AT THAT TIME HAS ME INCENSED. THE FACT THAT A SOLID STEEL COIL THAT TAKES 4,000LBS TO COMPRESS CAN BREAK IN HALF LIKE THAT IS DISTURBING. I ASSUME THAT WITHOUT THE SUSPENSION, DUE TO THE BROKEN COILS, THE BRAKES SUFFERED DAMAGE AND THE ABOVE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I WAS VERY LUCKY INDEED THAT NOTHING WORSE HAPPENED, BUT AS THIS IS A RECURRENT ISSUE WITH THE HYUNDAI COIL SUSPENSION AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED THROUGH A RECALL. PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE OF THE DAMAGE, AS ARE THE SUSPENSION COILS (WE SAVED EVERYTHING). *TR
FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING SNAPPED DAMAGING FRONT STRUT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OF PREMATURE UNEXPECTED BREAKAGE THAT HAS RESULTED IN SUDDEN TIRE PUNCTURE WHEN THE SPRING HITS THE TIRE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING FLAW. HYUNDAI HAS NOT INITIATED A RECALL BUT SHOULD. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT A LOW SPEED. *TR
MY MOMS SANTA FE HAS SPED OUT OF CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS. THE LAST INCIDENT CAUSED INJURIES BECAUSE THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHERE THE CAR HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND CRASHED INTO SEVERAL CARS. SECOND INCIDENT WAS ON THE ROAD WHERE CAR SPED UP AND SHE TURNED IT OFF. THE THIRD WAS BACKING OUT OF A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT WHERE THE CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED IN REVERSE HITTING A CAR AND THEN TRIED TO PUT IN NEUTRAL BUT WENT INTO DRIVE INSTEAD. SHE HIT A POST AND THE FRONT END WRAPPED AROUND THE POST BUT AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING INJURY. STATE FARM AND MANY ATTORNEYS WON'T TOUCH THIS CASE BECAUSE OF THE COSTS INVOLVED TO SUE SUCH A LARGE CORPORATION. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN A CRASH THAT WAS UNRELATED TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM HOWEVER, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOLLOWING THE CRASH, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE AFTER BLEEDING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS OT AWARE OF THE EXACT REPAIR NEEDED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000. ## VIN FAILED ##
STARTED VEHICLE, PLACED IN REVERSE, SUSPENSION COIL ON FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BROKE, PUNCTURED NEW TIRE, AND BROKE STRUT. HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE HAPPENING ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH THE 2005 SANTA FE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S NOT BEING REPORTED TO THE RIGHT PLACE. THIS COULD BE A DEADLY SITUATION IF HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING.
BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WITHIN LAST 6 OR 7 MONTHS; HOWEVER, FRONT BRAKES PULSATE (LIKE ABS IS ENGAGING) WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS EVEN BEFORE AND AFTER BRAKE REPAIRS. ON DEC 21, 2012, I DROPPED OFF MY GRANDSON AT SCHOOL AND WENT TO PARK ON A STREET NEXT TO THE SCHOOL. THE FRONT BRAKES PULSATED WHEN BRAKING TO PARK (ABOUT 4 MILES PER HOUR) AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST ALL BRAKING POWER -- COASTED TO A STOP (ABOUT 10 FEET). I SUSPECT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE IS BAD FOR SOME OF THE 2005 MODELS. THE 2003 AND 2004 YEAR MODEL ABS CONTROL MODULES HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT APPARENTLY NOT FOR THE 2005 MODEL YEARS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THERE IS A RED LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAG. I CALLED HYUNDAI DEALER. THEY ADVISED IT IS PROBABLY A SENSOR. I AM CONCERNED THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY BUT THEY "DO NOT THINK" THAT WILL HAPPEN. IT MAY BE EXPENSIVE TO FIX DEPENDING IF THIS IS A SENSOR IN THE SEAT BELT OR STEERING WHEEL. THEY ADVISED THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. I BELIEVE THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAD SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WE OWN A 2005 SANTA FE BY HYUNDAI. WE HAVE BEEN READING BLOGS ABOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED AS A RESULT OF THE SEAT BELT SENSOR GOING BAD ON THESE VEHICLES AND NOT DEPLOYING IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. OURS IS NOW DEMONSTRATING THIS. THE RED AIR BAG LIGHT WILL REMAIN ILLUMINATED AND THE ISSUE AFTER BEING RUN THROUGH A DIAGNOSTIC AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS AS EXPECTED TIED TO A SEAT BELT SENSOR ISSUE. MY MOTHER DIED IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. HER SANTA FE WENT THROUGH A "T" INTERSECTION WITHOUT STOPPING CROSSING HIGHWAY, WENT AIRBORNE OVER HILLSIDE AND STRUCK A TREE. SEVERED SPINE, CHEST TRAUMA AND SHATTERED ANKLE. THERE ARE NO SKIDS MARKS AT THE SCENE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOY BUT WHEN? STEERING COLUMN IS CRUSHED IN AND STEERING WHEEL WAS BENT INWARD. THE ROAD SHE WAS ON IS A RESIDENTIAL SIDE STREET. THERE IS A 100 FEET DOWNGRADE BUT STRAIGHT AS YOU APPROACH THE STOP SIGN. THE "T" INTERSECTION IS A TWO LANE NOT WELL TRAVELED ROAD. SHE DROVE THIS ROAD MANY TIMES BEFORE. WHAT MAKES A VEHICLE TRAVEL AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IN A 100 FEET STRAIGHT AWAY, GO THROUGH A STOP SIGN GET AIRBORNE AFTER CROSSING HIGHWAY? ACCELERATION STICKING? WHY IS THERE SO MUCH DAMAGE TO STEERING COLUMN IF AIRBAG WENT OFF? THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,010.
NOISE AND RUBBING OCCURRED WHILE BACKING CAR OUT OF DRIVEWAY. DISCOVERED LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKEN AND RUBBING ON TIRE CAUSING DAMAGE TO TIRE, DEALER REPLACED COIL UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ADVISED US TO REPLACE TIRE . THIS CAR DID NOT ARRIVE HOME THE NITE BEFORE THIS WAY AS IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS SOMETHING WAS VERY WRONG . THE DEALER WROTE IT OFF AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND SAID OTHER SIDE WAS FINE . I HAD MY SUV WORKED ON PRIOR TO DRIVING IT HOME WHEN I NOTICED A REALLY LOUD NOISE THAT GOT MY ATTENTION. I PULLED MY CAR OVER TO A GAS STATION FILLED UP AND TRIED TO TURN MY ENGINE OVER AND MY ENGINE HAD LOCKED UP. I HAD TO CALL A TOW COMPANY WHICH WAS DIFFICULT SINCE IT WAS THANKSGIVING MORNING AND WAIT AN HR TO GET IT TO THE SHOP. I FOUND OUT MY AC COMPRESSOR HAD LOCKED UP MY MOTOR AND I HAD PAID OVER 3000 IN REPAIRS. I HAD THE POWER STEERING BELT PUT ON AND I WAS NOT INFORMED THE AC COMPRESSOR COULD HAVE BURNT UP MY NEW BELT. EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY STEERING WHEEL FEELING LOOSE. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP DIDN'T INFORM ME THEY HAD REMOVED MY FUSES # 10 AND # 30. I HAD FOUND THEM LYING ON MY AC COMPRESSOR COVER. THIS CAR WAS RUNNING HOT AND MY MOTOR LOCKED UP DUE TO THE AC COMPRESSOR, SOLENOID ETC. *TR
SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE CAR "LURCHES" FORWARD AND THE ENGINE "REVES" UP. I'VE HAD IT TO THE MECHANIC NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND A REASON FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING. IT IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION. VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF A GROCERY WHEN IT STARTED ACCELERATING AND MY VEHICLE HIT THE SIDE OF A CAR IN THE NEXT PARKING SPACE WHICH IN TURN WAS PUSHED INTO THE SIDE OF A SECOND AUTO PARKED IN THE THIRD SPACE. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT HAS HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES IN THE PAST BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY 2007. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO 2 DEALERSHIPS AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANY DAMAGE WAS DONE TO ANY VEHICLE. THIS TIME WHEN IT HAPPENED, THE AUTO COULD NOT BE STOPPED USING THE BRAKES AND THE AUTO COULD NOT BE STEERED. THE OTHER TIMES WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR A STOP SIGN AND THE VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND WERE NOT AWARE OF A STEERING PROBLEM. DO KNOW THAT THE BRAKES JUST BARELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE AFTER STANDING ON THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET. I NOW FEAR SERIOUS INJURY TO ME, MY WIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE. MY 2005, SANTE FE HAS ONLY 69K MILES, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE THAT NEEDS REPLACED AND THEN THE LIGHT NEEDS TO BE RESET BY THE DEALER, NOBODY ELSE I KNOW CAN DO THIS. THE ASSEMBLY FOR THE SEAT BELT IS ONLY A DEALER PART. TOTAL COST TO REPAIR IS ALMOST $500.00. I'VE READ MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT BELT GOING BAD AND THE ONLY PLACE TO FIX IS THE DEALER. *TR

2005 HYUNDAI SANTE FE (I HAVE TWO OF THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR) I BROUGHT THE VEHICLES IN FOR THE INITIAL AIR BAG RECALL (CHILD SAFETY - WEIGHT IN THE FRONT SEAT.) THAT SEEMED TO REMOVE THE AIR BAG LIGHT FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEY RESET THEM AGAIN FOR A SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH TIME. NOW EVEN WITHOUT A PASSENGER, THE 'PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF' LIGHT IS OUT AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT I HAVE SEEN IT ON MORE THAN ONE SITE AND I HAVE IT HAPPENING ON TWO OF THE SAME VEHICLES, ONE MY WIFE DRIVES (5'2" TALL, AVERAGE) AND THE OTHER I DRIVE (6'-3" TALL, HEAVY). BEING A SAFETY ISSUE, IT SHOULD BE COVERED, BUT THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGING CLOSE TO $600 EA. VEHICLE. THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE SEATS AS THEY HAVE STATED TO MAKE SURE THAT THINGS ARE CLEAR UNDERNEATH. JUST WONDERING WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO DATE ON A RECALL THAT EFFECTS THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF PEOPLE. *TR
