BOTH FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNITS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 91,000 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IMPROPER/INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE READINGS PROMPTED THE REPAIR WHICH COST OVER $400 AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC. PER THE MECHANIC AND INTERNET RESEARCH, THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT WITH PRE-2010 SANTA FE MODELS AS HE RECENTLY REPLACED ANOTHER SET OF FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNITS IN A SANTA FE. CLEARLY NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
FUEL GAGE REPORTS INACCURATE READINGS CAUSES CHECK INGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.
WHEN STARTING OUR 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE YESTERDAY, THE "ESC OFF" LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH. I TRIED TO PRESS THE BUTTON TO SEE IF IT WOULD ENGAGE, BUT IT HAD NO REACTION. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED A WHILE AND RESTARTED AND THE LIGHT WAS GONE. HOWEVER 10 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING 73 MPH ON THE HWY, THE "ESC OFF" LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND SUDDENLY THE FRONT END FELT LIKE IT WAS PULLING AND BEGAN TO MAKE SORT OF A WHISTLING SOUND LIKE THE BRAKES WERE RUBBING ON SOMETHING. IT ALSO FELT LIKE THE REAR END WAS FISH TAILING. WE STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AGAIN. WE STARTED BACK ON THE HWY AND AGAIN SHORTLY INTO THE DRIVE, SAME ISSUE. WE DROPPED THE SPEED DOWN TO 60 / 65 AND GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND TOOK SIDE ROADS HOME. I LOOKED UP SOME OF THE INFORMATION AND SAW OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND A RECALL FOR A STOP LAMP SWITCH, BUT WHEN CALLING HYUNDAI AMERICA THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL, SO AT THIS POINT WHAT'S CREATING THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN. I FELT THIS NEEDED TO BE REPORTED BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, NOT ONLY THE PULLING OF THE VEHICLE THAT CAUSED US TO DECELERATE, BUT THE INSTABILITY OF THE REAR END COULD HAVE EASILY CREATED A MAJOR WRECK IMPACTING ME, MY FAMILY AND THOSE AROUND US.
TURN SIGNAL COLUMN, TURN SIGNAL RAPID CLICKING, TURN SIGNAL DOESN'T TURN OFF, SMOKE FROM STEERING COLUMN.
THE ELECTROIN STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) FUNCTION ON MY 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS BEGUN FAILING SINCE APRIL 2018. THE WARNING LIGHT WILL RANDOMLY COME ON BETTER THAN HALFO OF THE TIME WE OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A PUSH-BUTTON SWITCH THAT ALLOWS MANUAL CONTROL OF THIS FEATURE THAT NOW DOES NOTHING. THIS FAILURE SHOWS TO BE PART OF A VOLUNTARY RECALL OF 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE VEHICLES - SEE NHSTA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V1130000 (HYUNDAI # 110). CHECKING WITH HYUNDAI, THEY INDICATE MY VEHILE VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THOUGH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE FAILURE MATCHES WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAN OCCUR AT START UP, SHORTLY AFTER BEGINNING DRIVING, WHILE DRIVING, OR NOT AT ALL.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A TWO LANE HWY MAKING MY WAY TO THE MAIN HWY THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE TRYING TO STEER THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. THE POWER STEERING WAS ALSO OUT, VERY HARD TO STEER. AFTER PULLING OVER I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED STARTING THE ENGINE. IT STARTED UP, I DROVE HOME IN THE SLOW LANE SO IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN I WOULD BE CLOSE TO THE SHOULDER. THIS WAS VERY SCARY, NOW I'M AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE. AFTER SEARCHING GOOGLE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND SOMETHING THAT MAY HAVE CAUSE THIS, I READ ABOUT A RECALL THAT MAYBE THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE MY CAR HAS ALREADY HAD THE RECALL REPAIRED BUT FEEL IT MAYBE DEFECTIVE AGAIN.
FUEL GAGE STOPPED REGISTERING FUEL IN TANK, EMPTY LIGHT IS ON, NO GUAGE MOVEMENT OF NEEDLE. HAVE TO GUESS ON AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK.
IT STARTED OFF AS WHAT SEEMED LIKE JUST THE BULBS BURNING OUT IN ANY WHICH LIGHT. THEN MY PASSENGER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING THEN STARTED WORKING. THE LIGHTS STILL WERE HAVING ISSUES. IT TOOK A BIT FOR ME TO REALIZE THAT THERE IS A SHORT OR SOMETHING IN THE CAR. THE LIGHTS GO OUT THEN COME BACK ON THEN SWITCH WHICH ONE IS OUT. THE WORST TIME WAS WHEN IT WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND CAME BACK OUT WITH NO LIGHTS WORKING. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO FOUL PLAY AND THEY CHECKED THEIR CAMERA. I'VE HAD THE LIGHTS LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES BY MULTIPLE DIFFERENT COMPANIES. IT NEVER FIXES THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. A FEW WEEKS AGO THE BACK RIGHT PASSENGER LOCK STOPPED WORKING THEN THE NEXT WEEK THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AGAIN. THEN YESTERDAY THE LOCK STARTED TO WORK AND TODAY IT DOESN'T AGAIN. AND SPEEDOMETER IS OFF. HARD TO SAY BY HOW MUCH. DEPENDS ON WHICH SPEED READER I GO BY.
FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY TO FIX. I ASKED IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MASSEY HYUNDAI AND THEY TOLD ME YES THIS IS A CURRENT ISSUE, AND COULD NOT BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DANGEROUS. SO ON 3.9.17 AS A RESULT OF NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT ONCE WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR AND CRASHED. AND A SECOND TIME WHILE TURNING INTO WORK ROAD AND STALLING OUT AGAIN MID TURN AND ALMOST TURNING INTO A DITCH. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY HAD TO DO BOTH BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SURE WHICH ONE IT IS. IF NOT FIXED COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT, WELL IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MOST HYUNDAI VEHICLES THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE COMPANY WHO MAKES IT NOT THE PEOPLE WHO BUY FAULTY PRODUCTS.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I HAD ABOUT A HALF TANK OF GAS AT THE TIME. WHILE WAITING ON A PASSENGER THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY. I THOUGHT PERHAPS I HAD A LEAK, BUT DIDN'T NOTICE OR SMELL GASOLINE. I WENT TO THE FUELING STATION AND FILLED UP. IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT 7 GALLONS TO FILL THE TANK. WHEN THE TANK GETS TO APROX HALF FULL THE NEEDLE WILL TRAVEL TO EMPTY. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A RECALL, BUT FOUND NONE. WHEN RESEARCHING THE RECALL I NOTICED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE SANTA FE VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V472000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
THERE IS A GASKET LEAK THAT DRIPS OIL ON TO MY CAR'S ALTERNATOR, AFFECTING ITS ABILITY TO WORK. LAST YEAR, THIS PROBLEM CAUSED MY CAR NOT TO START, AND COMPLETELY DRAINED MY NEW CAR BATTERY (WHEN I THOUGHT THIS WAS SIMPLY A CAR BATTERY ISSUE). LAST YEAR, IT WOULD NOT START FOR ME AT ALL - I DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM TOO LATE. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE GASKET LEAK IS OCCURRING AGAIN AND CAUSES MY BATTERY LIGHT TO COME ON WHILE DRIVING. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR, I WAS BY HYUNDAI'S CAR DEALERSHIP TO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT AND TO NOT DRIVE WHILE IT'S RAINING.
INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF FUEL GAUGE SENSOR CAUSED FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW FUEL EMPTY CAUTION LIGHT TO COME IF THE TANK WAS EMPTY OR NOT EMPTY. HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. HAVE SEEN ONLINE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH 2007 HYUNDAIS. BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE PROBLEM, HYUNDAI SHOULD RECALL THIS AND BEAR THE COST OF THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR.
FOR THE LAST 3-6 MONTHS MY ENGINE LIGHT AND FUEL GAUGE HAVE BEEN ACTING UP. MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TO CHECK ENGINE AT SAME TIME MY FUEL AMOUNT READS EMPTY OF 1/4 TANK AMOUNT AFTER I JUST FILLED UP. I'M TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE SENSORS FOR 600.00 PLUS DOLLARS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I DONT WANT TO RUN OUT OF FUEL BY A BAD READ OUT OR STALL IN TRAFFIC.
I MOVED TO USA FROM CANADA 8 MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE IMPORTED MY SANTE FE 2007 AT THE SAME TIME. LATER I RECEIVED A CAMPAIGN NOTIFICATION 50CA07 (C0260) FROM CANADA. I HAVE JUST CONTACTED A HUYNDAI DEALER HERE IN GEORGIA USA AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY SANTE HAS TO BE REGISTERED WITH HYUNDAI USA EVEN IF THE CAR WAS IMPORTED. HE SAID THAT UNTIL THEN, HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI USA AND THEY REPLIED: THANK YOU FOR CONTACTING HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE BY PROVIDING COATING ON THE FRONT AND REAR AXLES OF THE FRAME. HOWEVER, THE MAIN PORTION OF THE FRAME (FROM FRONT TO BACK) HAD EXTENSIVE RUST, CORROSION, AND HOLES. THE MECHANIC NOTIFIED THE TECHNICIANS AT THE DEALER, BUT THEY FAILED TO NOTIFY THE CONTACT AND PROVIDE FURTHER COATING TO THE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE RUST AND CORROSION WERE TOO EXTENSIVE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY MAY PROVIDE A BUY BACK OR A TRADE IN OPTION. THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING A SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR DETACHED AND FELL, SWINGING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. WENT ON LINE TO CHECK THIS AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. HYUNDAI DEALER ORDERED A NEW VISOR AND CAN REPLACE IT, BUT IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK AND MY CAR WOULDNT SHIFT INTO PARK.IT WILL NOT SHIFT WITHOUT USING THE LOCK MECHANISM BY THE SHIFTER. NOW WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR IT AUTOMATICALLY HAS THE ECS OFF LIGHT ON THE DASH
FAULTY GAS GAUGE. AFTER FILLING UP TO A FULL GAS TANK, GAS GAUGE WILL GO UP AND DOWN AND EVENTUALLY STOP AT AN INCORRECT READING. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE WHICH IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS!!! WHEN THE GAUGE GETS BELOW HALF A TANK, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AT ALL NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS THE CAR HAS. THEN, CAR STARTED TO SMELL LIKE GAS INSIDE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO FIX AND WAS QUOTED OVER $1,000. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED, THE GAS GAUGE ISSUE IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD RUN OUT OF GAS AND BE STRANDED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ILLUMINATED. "LOW FUEL" WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED NEARLY EMPTY EVEN THOUGH TANK WAS CLOSE TO HALF FULL. CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ALWAYS ILLUMINATED.
FUEL INDICATOR GAUGE IS BROKEN. DOES NOT PROPERLY INDICATE FUEL LEVEL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. VERY COMMON PROBLEM ACCORDING TO ONLINE SEARCH. TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX WHEN IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER HYUNDAI RECALL WHEN IT IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM. I WILL NOT KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER ENGINE ISSUE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALWAYS ON. DANGEROUS.
"SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" IN HYUNDAI'S, SPECIFICALLY SANTA FE. MY WIFE HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN TO HER WHILE DRIVING HER HYUNDAI SANTA FE THREE TIMES NOW AND THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP INSISTS THERE HAS BEEN NO INDICATION ON THE COMPUTER CODES AND THAT HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THEREFORE AS FAR AS THEY ARE CONCERNED "SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" ON HER SANTA FE NEVER HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE JERKED LEFT AND RIGHT AND LEANED ON ONE SIDE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE DRIVER TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED A NUMBER OF TIMES. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
HYUNDAI SANTA FE ESC LIGHT POPS ON INTERMITTENTLY AND AFTER PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT. "ESC " LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATES ON THE DASHBOARD THE FRONT TIRES KIND OF LOCK UP WITH A GRINDING SOUND AND THE CAR VIOLENTLY TRYING TO STOP IT SELF AND I WAS GOING STRAIGHT ON A CITY STREET. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MANY HYUNDAI MODELS AND RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. I AM THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE.
WIFE WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ON CRUISE CONTROL, CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. TAPPING THE BRAKE DID NOT RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL. COLLEGE SON WHO WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT REACHED OVER AND PULLED GAS PEDAL BACK WHICH RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL. SECOND OCCURRENCE. FIRST TIME I THOUGHT MAYBE THE FLOOR MAT WAS IN THE WAY. THE FLOOR MAT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE ISSUE FOR SECOND OCCURANCE.
TAKATA RECALL ABOUT MAY 2016 AIRBAG DASH LIGHT AND PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT MALFUNCTION, DASH LIGHT STAYS ON, PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE PASSENGER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON 8/18/16, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT "PROBLEM DUE TO A MAKEUP BAG WEDGED UNDER PASSENGER SEAT CAUSING POOR CONTACT AT CONNECTORS." WITHIN 4 DAYS, AIRBAG DASH LIGHT AND PASSENGER LIGHT WERE MALFUNCTIONING AS INITIALLY DESCRIBED ABOVE. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP ON 9/8/16 FOR SAME PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP DID A PODS RESET, A RECALIBRATION AS I UNDERSTAND IT. AIRBAG DASH LIGHT AND PASSENGER LIGHT WORKED FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE THEY MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN AS INITIALLY DESCRIBED ABOVE. FURTHER COMMUNICATION WITH DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN TO INFORM ME THAT THE "OCS MAT IS $2473.50 PLUS $312.50 FOR INSTALL. THAT'S THE WHOLE SEAT. HYUNDAI DOES NOT OFFER IT SEPARATE." THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT MY BILL TO FOOT, IT'S HYUNDAI'S. IN THE MEANTIME, I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE AIRBAG PROTECTION.
FRIDAY, AUG 12, I PARKED THE CAR AROUND 6:30 PM. AROUND 8:40 AM, SATURDAY AUG 13, NEIGHBORS RANG MY DOOR BELL AND BANGED ON THE MY DOOR. THE SANTA FE WAS ON FIRE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF ARSON. THE CAR PARKED FOR AROUND 14 HOURS CAUGHT FIRE. RESEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND NUMEROUS COMMENTS FROM OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS WHO FACED A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH MY 2007 SANTA FE STARTED TO DECELERATE EVEN AS I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL REALIZING SOMETHING WAS WRONG STARTED LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER THEN ALL MY GAUGES WENT CRAZY FUEL GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY RPM GAUGE WAS SHOWING 3000 RPM(ENGINE WAS OFF) ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. OIL LEAKING FROM FRONT VALVE COVER HAD SHORTED OUT THE ALTERNATOR THERE FOR KILLING MY BATTERY. REPAIR WAS NOT CHEAP

THE DRIVER-SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AFTER A ROAD TRIP, DURING WHICH IT WAS NOT EVEN USED MUCH. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM, AND I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE WHICH GIVES AN EXAMPLE OF THE COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS EXACTLY OCCURRED FOR ONE OF MY SUN VISORS. THIS IS A FRUSTRATING PROBLEM, AND I HAVE NEEDED TO SPEND THE PAST 3 WEEKS DRIVING ONE-HANDED BECAUSE MY OTHER HAND IS NEEDED TO KEEP THE SUN VISOR FROM TOTALLY IMPAIRING MY VISION. I HAVE EVEN DEVELOPED PAIN IN MY ARM WHICH I MOST COMMONLY USE TO SUPPORT THE VISOR WHILE DRIVING. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT PREVENTS DRIVING WITH 2 HANDS. MY VISION IS TOTALLY OBSCURED WHEN IT IS NOT SUPPORTED BECAUSE I AM TALL PERSON (6'5"). IT IS AN ISSUE ALWAYS, WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVING OR PARKED.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. DEALERSHIP FOUND CODE B1495. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PART , FOR THIS YEAR ON OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT IS THE SAME "BELT TENSION SENSOR UNIT" ON ALL THESE MODELS. WHY IS NOT THE SANTE FE ALSO INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 09V-497? THANK YOU *TR
GAS GAGE GOES FROM FULL TO EMPTY IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. CAN'T TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE AS TRIP TICKET FUNCTION GOES "BERSERK" AS WELL AND MAY REGISTER FOR INSTANCE 20 MILES WHEN THE ODOMETER SAYS I HAVE ONLY TRAVELLED 10 MILES.
STEERING & SUSPENSION :FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER LEAKING,THE VEHICLE BOUNCES TOO MUCH, TOO DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. FRONT STRUTS NEED TO BE CHANGED. BALL JOINTS HAD WORN OUT VERY FAST BECAUSE FRONT STRUTS ARE NOT GOOD. ALL LOWER ARMS AND ALL TIE ROD END WORN OUT.THAT CHANGE THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT, UNABLE TO CONTROL OR STEER THE VEHICLE .

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN MY ESC OFF LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 20 MPH AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEED UP AT ALL ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE SMASHED INTO SEVERAL TIMES!! I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND RE STARTED IT AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY TO SOMEPLACE SAFE. I AM HAVING MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT NOW BUT AFTER LOOKING ON FORUMS, I SEE IT IS PROBABLY THE TPS AND I SEE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN! WHY IS THIS NOT RECALLED?!?! THIS IS BEYOND A SAFETY ISSUE!
WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED THE ESC OFF LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS STILL ON LOW SPEED RESIDENTIAL ROAD. PUSHING ON THE ESC ON BUTTON DIDNT DO ANYTHING. I HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO STOP. EVENTUALLY I TURN OFF MY CAR AND RESTARTED, ITS GONE. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND AGAIN TODAY. LOOKING INTO WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE, I SAW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS AFFECTING SAFE DRIVING BECAUSE OF THIS LIGHTING UP ON ITS OWN AND I MOSTLY DRIVE HIGHWAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHICH PRODUCED FAILURE CODES FOR THE FUEL SENDERS AND BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V113000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVING 55 MPH ON TWO LANE ROAD WITH ONCOMING AND CROSS TRAFFIC, OUR DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR PIVOT ARM FELL OUT OF CEILING MOUNT CAUSING VISOR TO DANGLE BY WIRES (FOR MAKE-UP LIGHT) IN FRONT OF DRIVER OBSTRUCTING VIEW OF ROAD AND CAUSING PANIC. WIRES EVENTUALLY BROKE. FAILURE IS CAUSED BY POOR PART DESIGN WERE A VERY THIN PLASTIC RIM HOLDS PIVOT ARM IN CEILING. IT WEARS WITH USE, CRACKS, AND FAILS CAUSING VISOR TO FALL OUT AND DANGLE. PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAS SAME DESIGN FLAW AND ALSO PRESENTS A SAFETY RISK. THERE ARE LOTS OF INTERNET REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM IN VARIOUS 2007 & 2008 HYUNDAI MODELS INCLUDING OUR 2007 SANTA FE. IN BEST CASES, THE VISOR INSTANTLY BECOMES UNUSABLE CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF ITS SUN SHADING CAPABILITY. IN WORST CASES, DRIVER VISION OF ROAD IS INSTANTLY IMPAIRED PROVOKING PANIC AND POSSIBLE CRASH SITUATION. ALL OF THESE FAILURES COMPROMISE VEHICLE AND PASSENGER SAFETY POTENTIALLY LEADING TO INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE ALONG WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE. BECAUSE OF THE SERIOUS SAFETY RISKS, AND DUE TO THE CAUSE BEING INADEQUATE DESIGN, A RECALL ORDER WOULD BE WISE ON THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE GIVE INVESTIGATION OF THIS PROBLEM DUE PRIORITY AS IT PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. I CAN BUY AND INSTALL A REPLACEMENT VISOR. INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THOUGH. IF HYUNDAI HAS UPGRADED TO A BETTER DESIGN OF THIS PART, THEY SHOULD BE REPLACING THE EXISTING FLAWED DESIGN PARTS.
LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR NO REASON. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS WORKING OR NOT. STARTED ABOUT 85,000 MILES. APPEARS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY DURING DRIVING.
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BECAME DISENGAGED, SO THE VISOR FELL DOWN. IT FELL DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND COMPLETELY DISTRACTED ME AND BLOCKED MY VIEW. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT JUST "LOOSE". IT IS ACTUALLY DISENGAGED. I TRIED (UNSUCCESSFULLY) TO HOT GLUE GUN IT TOGETHER.
PLEASE NOTE THAT MY AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT IS ON AND I HAVE HAD THE LIGHT RESET MORE THAN SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN DRIVING THE LIGHT WILL GO ON AGAIN AND AGAIN. I HAVE THE DEALER LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM TWICE AND THEY HAVE RESET THE LIGHT AND THAT DID NOT WORK. ON 4.26.2016 THE DEALER TOOK THE SEAT OUT AND CLEANED ALL OF THE CONNECTIONS AND SEALED WITH CONNECTER SEALANT. THE DEALER STATED ON THE BILL THAT IF THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER A FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON 4.26.2016 THREE HOURS LATER. I DROVE TO WORK 4.27.2016 AND THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. MY CONCERN IS WHY THE CONSUMER HAS TO BEAR THE COST OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT MY FAMILY IS IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE IN REGARDS TO THE AIR BAG ISSUE I AM HAVING. I DO NOT THINK IT IS FAIR TO THE CONSUMER THAT THEY HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX SOMETHING THAT CANNOT BE FIXED AND THERE IS NOT ANY SORT OF SOLUTION TO FIX THIS ISSUE THE FIRST TIME WHEN I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED. IS THIS A PLOY FOR HYUNDAI TO FORCE YOU TO BUY A NEW CAR THAT IS 8 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAVING 85,080 MILES ON THE CAR. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND THE TIME AND MONEY THAT I HAVE PUT IN TO TRYING TO MAKE MY 2007 SANTA FE SAFE. SO I WENT TO THE HYUNDAI WEB SITE LOOKING TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. THERE WAS NONE THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE ABLE TO POSSIBLY ENDANGER HUMAN LIFE, AND/OR INJURY. IT IS MINE, AND SEVERAL OTHER'S OPINION THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ADMINISTERED BY THE NHTSA TO FORCE HYUNDAI MOTOR CORP. TO ENGAGE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, AS THIS IS BECOMING SYMPTOMATIC FROM THE FACTS THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED ON THE WEB.
