I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WAS HANGING BY THE MIRROR WIRES. LUCKILY IT WAS HELD UP SOMEWHAT WITH THE CLIP. THE PLASTIC ON THE PIVOT SIDE IS CHEAP AND CRACKED RIGHT OFF, THERE IS NO WAY TO REPAIR IT AND A REPLACEMENT IS 140.00. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2007 HYUNDAI SONATA SUN VISORS FOR THE SAME ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTE FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. SOMETIMES LOCK, SOMETIMES DO NOT. MOSTLY THEY UNLOCK BUT DO NOT LOCK PROPERLY. THE KEY FOB ALSO DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. HAVE HAD THE BATTERY AND SYSTEM CHECKS AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES. DANGEROUS TO HAVE DOORS NOT LOCK PROPERLY FOR A SINGLE WOMAN IN PARKING LOTS OR EVEN WITH THE CAR PARKED OUTSIDE AT NIGHT.
MY ESC OFF LIGHT COMES OFF AND ON, INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEY BOTH GO OFF AND ON RANDOMLY. THE ESC OFF LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN PUSHED. I CANNOT TELL IF THE ESC FEATURE IS ENGAGED OR NOT. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW. IT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND IN THE SHOP WHENEVER A FIX WAS NEEDED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT'S BEEN A COMMON COMPLAIN WITH VARIOUS HYUNDAI MODELS, INCLUDING MINE. UPON SPEAKING WITH HYUNDAI USA, VARIOUS CARS ON THIS LINE HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. MINE WAS NOT ONE ON LINE THAT WAS NOTED, HOWEVER THE ISSUE IS EXACTLY THE SAME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI USA LAST WEEK. MY ONLY RECOURSE IS TO TAKE IT TO A NEARBY DEALER AND PAY THEM TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC WORK UP OUT OF POCKET. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM HAS POTENTIAL FOR SAFETY ISSUES. I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH THE ESC SAFETY FEATURE. NOW I CAN'T TELL IF IT'S ENGAGED OR NOT AS I CANNOT GET THE LIGHT TO GO OFF.
AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO WORK MY SANTA FE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WENT INTO A "LIMP MODE". IT SLOWED DOWN TO 10 MPH AND WOULDN'T LET ME ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE SPUTTERING. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A MINUTE. TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND PROCEEDED TO WORK WITHOUT INCIDENT. NOW NO MATTER WHEN I DRIVE WHETHER ITS A COLD START OR AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE. WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED ON BACK ROADS IS NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE I FEEL THAT WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65MPH AND IT HAPPENS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUES THAT I FEEL NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVER FOLLOWING BEHIND THE CONTACT INFORMED HER THAT THE BRAKE LAMPS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED THE BRAKE LAMPS FAILED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH BAND FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V113000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
LEAVING MY HOME TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HAVING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST COMPLETED I WAS TOLD THE SENSORS IN THE GAS TANK ARE MALFUNCTIONING (P0464) AND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2007 HYUNDAI SANTE FE MODELS. THE GAUGE TELLING ME HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IS NOT READING CORRECTLY DUE TO THE SENSOR MALFUNCTION AND CAN CAUSE ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS AT ANY TIME. THE DEALER REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WITHOUT CHARGING ME A $98 "DIAGNOSTIC FEE" EVEN THOUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE ELSEWHERE. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE BUT THEY REFUSE TO HONOR THAT AS WELL. *TR
FUEL SENSOR/GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS IS INTERMITTENT SO GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN. CAN NEVER TELL HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN TANK SO YOU WILL RUN OUT OF GAS. A LOT OF OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME VEHICLE AND YEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE INTERSTATE. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. *TR
HYUNDAI DEALER INFORMED ME THAT VALVE COVER GASKET IS LEAKING ONTO ALTERNATOR WHICH WILL CAUSE IT TO FAIL. ESTIMATED OUT OF POCKET COST TO REPAIR IS OVER $700. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE RECALL ON THE HYUNDAI VERA CRUZ. I'M AFRAID THAT THE ALTERNATOR WILL FAIL AT SPEED CAUSING LOSS OF POWER AND DIMINISH BRAKING AND STEERING CAPABILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, ECS LIGHT, AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,100.
GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY TO 1/4 FULL AFTER FILLING. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, LOST ALL POWER TO VEHICLE AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT ON. HAD VEHICLE TOWED THEN READ OTHER COMPLAINTS.WHEN I RESTARTED VEHICLE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO RUN FINE.THE FUEL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ARE STILL ON BUT THAT IS A DIFFERENT ISSUE. *TR
AT 3:30 P.M. I WAS IN MY 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE ON MY DRIVEWAY, WAITING FOR THE GARAGE DOOR TO GO UP. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR ACCELERATED. (THE 20 MPH SHOWN ABOVE IS APPROXIMATE.) THE CAR RAN INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND KNOCKED IT OFF ITS TRACKS. IT CRASHED INTO BUILT-IN WOODEN CABINETS ALONG THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE AND CAME TO REST AGAINST A WOODEN PLATFORM AT THE FRONT OF THE GARAGE. MY FOOT DID NOT LEAVE THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING THIS TIME. THE GARAGE DOOR AND WOODEN CABINETS WERE DESTROYED. THE CAR WAS DECLARED TO BE UNREPAIRABLE. I WAS CONSIDERABLY SHAKEN UP BUT LUCKILY NOT INJURED PHYSICALLY. *TR
WHILE OUR VEHICLE WAS MAKING A SLOW TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 50 MPH, CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE, THEN OUR CAR WAS FLIPPED AND LANDED ON THE ROOF. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ALL PASSENGERS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. WHEN THE CAR FLIPPED, THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT RELEASED AND BECAME UNSECURED, TOSSING THE PASSENGER. SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE CABIN CAGE AND SIDE DOOR PANELS. ....UPDATED 04/23/15 *BF
MY GAS GAUGE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING EARLIER IN 2015, THEN IT TOTALLY WENT OUT BY MAY OF 2015. NOW, IT WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO, BUT IT'S NEVER REALLY RIGHT. MY TRIP GAUGE DOESN'T WORK EITHER. THANKS TO THIS ISSUE, I FAILED MY SMOG TEST, THEY SAID THAT MY GAS TANK SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. I GOT AN ESTIMATE OF NEARLY $1000 TO COMPLETE THIS PROCEDURE THAT LOTS OF OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH. WHY ISN'T THIS A REPAIR COVERED BY HYUNDAI? DO YOU BUILD YOUR PRODUCTS TO LAST LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE IT THROUGH YOUR WARRANTY PERIOD? I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THIS WITH PREVIOUS VEHICLES.
HYUNDAI HYUNDAI FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN SCREWING UP 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR USED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM I'VE NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MANY FACTORS CAN JUST NOT REPAIR SUCH AN ISSUE ESPECIALLY ITS COST BETWEEN 500 TO 700 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. *TR

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE CHANGES RANDOMLY. CHECK ENGINES CODES P0463, P0464, P2068 INDICATES A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE. THIS IS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS POTENTIALLY USING THE SAME SENSOR SYSTEM. THERE HAVE BEEN NO RECALLS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE OWNER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KNOW THE ACCURATE FUEL LEVEL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS MAY CAUSE TANK OVERFILLING AND POTENTIALLY SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR ($1000) AND IS NOT COVERED BY HYUNDAI AFTER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. *TR
3/18 DRIVING DOWN A ROAD HIT A LARGE POTHOLE ESC OFF AND ABS LIGHTS POP ON THE DASH PRESS THE ESC BUTTON WHICH DID NOTHING.I STOP IN A PARKING LOT TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AS I PULLED AWAY THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF. 3/19 I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 25-30 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ESC OFF AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ONE ONCE AGAIN I PARK AT THE GROCERY STORE TO SHOP. LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE I TURN ON THE VEHICLE ON THE DASH THE SAME LIGHTS ARE LIGHT UP AS I PULL AWAY THEY TURN OFF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V122000 IS A RECALL IN PLACE FOR THIS ISSUE ON MY MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE BUT IT STARTS FOR THE SANTA FES THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL OF 2007 AND FURTHER. MY SANTA FE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MID MARCH OF 2007 PLEASE LOOK INTO ADDING MY VEHICLE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V122000. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM 3 TIMES, (2/2013, 4/2014, 3/2015) AND ABOUT TO DO IT A 4TH TIME (2019). IT GOES BAD AFTER ABOUT 20,000 MILES AND AFFECTS THE ALIGNMENT WHICH CAUSES THE TIRES TO WEAR INCORRECTLY. BRAND NEW TIRES ARE GET WORN DOWN ON THE INSIDE EDGE AND IS NOT VISIBLE. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE. MY RELATIVELY NEW TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH. I'VE SPENT $3000 IN REPAIRS AND ESTIMATE ANOTHER $1000 IN TIRES THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED PREMATURELY. I WILL FILL ONE OF THESE OUT FOR EACH OF THE INCIDENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME, I NOTED WILD FLUCTUATIONS IN FUEL GAGE READOUT. ALSO, WHEN SELECTED, THE "RANGE" RAN FROM 0 UP TO 99 MILES. READING YOUR WEBPAGE LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM ON THE 2007 SANTA FE. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO CONTINUALLY TOP OFF THE GAS TANK TO INSURE THE VEHICLE IS FUELED. THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE ACTUAL FUEL LEFT IN TANK. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, AS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WITHOUT WARNING AT 65 MPH IN TRAFFIC WILL NOT ONLY SLOW THE VEHICLE, BUT KILL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED THROUGH RECALL. IT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR TO EXPECT CONSUMERS TO FOOT THE BILL FOR AN ESTIMATED 700 DOLLAR FIX. *TR
WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE INDICATING AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME, BUT NEXT DAY CAR WOULD NOT START DUE TO DRAINED BATTERY. BATTERY WAS THEN RECHARGED AND CAR DRIVEN TO LOCAL FIRESTONE STORE FOR DIAGNOSIS. WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY DUE TO OIL THAT HAD LEAKED FROM THE FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET. THE ALTERNATOR WAS HEAVILY CAKED WITH THIS OIL/GRIME. AFTER INSTALLING NEW VALVE COVER GASKET AND ALTERNATOR TODAY, CAR NOW RUNS FINE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO ME TO BE IDENTICAL TO THAT DESCRIBED IN HYUNDAI'S RECALL NUMBER 121 WHICH COVERED CERTAIN VERACRUZ MODELS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V415000) AND THEREFORE I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER AT LEAST MY CAR AND PROBABLY OTHERS. *TR
THE FLOATS AND SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE FUEL TANK QUIT WORKING IN 2015. THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERS AS EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS MOSTLY FULL. THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH THIS MODEL SANTA FE, AND THE REPAIR COSTS CLOSE TO $1,000. I BELIEVE IT PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD, IN THAT THE VEHICLE COULD RUN OUT OF FUEL ON A HIGHWAY OR A BRIDGE. HYUNDAI SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL OR AGREE TO FIX THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITHOUT COST TO THE OWNERS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MERGE OFF THE HIGHWAY AVOIDING A COLLISION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE PASSENGER FRONT DEFECTIVE AND VERIFIED THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE SCALLOPED ON THE INSIDE BEAD AREA OF THE RIM. AS A RESULT, ALL FOUR RIMS AND TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAD JUST PURCHASED GAS A FEW DAYS BEFORE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY GAS GAUGE REGISTERED NO GAS. I KNEW I WAS NOT ON EMPTY AND WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND PURCHASED MORE GAS, WHICH WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF DOLLARS TO TOP IT OFF. IN THE PAST 6 WEEKS, MY GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY OR WHEREVER ELSE IT WANTS TO LAND. IT IS VERY UNRELIABLE TO USE THE ODOMETER/TRIP CALCULATOR TO PINPOINT HOW MUCH GAS IS LEFT IN THE TANK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS FUEL SENSOR ISSUE ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND COME TO FIND OUT THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 AND 2008 HYUNDAI SANTA FE'S. HYUNDAI HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENSOR STARTING WITH THE 2009'S SO THEY REALIZED THERE WAS AN ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE REPAIR FOR THE FUEL SENSOR CAN RUN ALMOST A $1,000, WHICH IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR A PROBLEM THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS EXISTS. PLEASE HELP. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN STARTING. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR DROPPED TO EMPTY EVEN THOUGH TANK WAS RECENTLY FILLED. FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WOULD RISE AND FALL AND GIVE FALSE READINGS. DIAGNOSTIC OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED P0464: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT. P0463: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT HIGH. P2069: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR "B" CIRCUIT HIGH. COST TO REPAIR CLOSE TO $900.
HYUNDAI SANTA FE ESC LIGHT POPS ON INTERMITTENTLY AND AFTER PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO POPS ON ALONG WITH THE ESC LIGHT. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MANY HYUNDAI MODELS AND RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
I HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED TWO DAYS EARLIER AND CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ESC AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS. THIS WAS ABOUT A MILE FROM MY INTENDED EXIT. AFTER THE EXIT MORE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. IF I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, THE TACH AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES DROPPED TO ZERO. AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE DIED. I LOOKED TO SEE IF I HAD BROKEN A BELT BUT SAW IT WAS INTACT. I DID NOTICE THAT THE ALTERNATOR SEEMED TO BE SHINY FROM OIL. I WENT ONLINE AND SEARCHED FOR THE SYMPTOMS AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE VERACRUZ WITH THE VERY SAME SYMPTOMS CAUSED BY A LEAKING VALVE COVER GASKET. THE RECALL IS NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V415000. AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, IF IT'S THE SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL AND THE REPAIRS COVERED. *TR
JUST LIKE MOST PEOPLE ON HERE, MY FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. RAN OUT OF GAS AND FORCED TO PUSH CAR OUT OF HARMS WAY, WHICH OCCURRED DURING A LEFT TURN ON GREEN LIGHT. BECAUSE OF THIS, I FAILED THE COLORADO EMISSIONS TEST, LEAVING ME TO PAY OVER $500 TO GET THIS FIXED. I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH MY VISOR FALLING DOWN, CAR ALARM GOING OFF AT RANDOM TIMES, AND NOT ALL DOORS LOCKING WHEN USING THE ELECTRIC KEY CHAIN. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET A NEW CAR AND BE DONE WITH HYUNDAI SINCE THEY ARE DETERMINED TO PROVIDE POOR PRODUCTS AND NOT ISSUING RECALLS. *TR
THE CAR, AT 75,000 MILES IS NOW SHOWING AN LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT, 0 REMAINING ON GAS GAUGE ALTHOUGH I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALSO ILLUMINATED. BECAUSE I AM UNABLE TO KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY TANK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FUEL SENSORS QUIT WORKING. HAD THEM REPLACED WITH GENUINE HYUNDAI PARTS. FUEL SENSOR STILL NOT WORKING. *TR
THIS IS OUR 3RD HYUNDAI SANTA FE. OUR 1ST WAS AN 2006 MODEL, WITH WHICH WE HAD NO PROBLEMS. OUR 2ND WAS TOTALED BECAUSE OF ANOTHER DRIVERS FAULT. WE WERE FORCED TO AVOID HER PULLING INTO OUR LANE- HEAD ON AND WENT OFF THE ROAD HITTING SOME PINE BUSHES AND A TELEPHONE GUIDE WIRE. WE WERE DOING 45MPH AT THE TIME WE LEFT THE ROAD AND HOT THE BUSHES. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED TOTALED BY THE ADJUSTER. SO WE REPLACED THE CAR WITH ANOTHER 2007 SANTA FE LIMITED AND AT FIRST ALL WAS GOOD. NOW THE FUEL SENDING UNITS ARE NOT WORKING. IN THE FUEL SYSTEM THE GAS TANKS(2) ARE CONSIDERED SADDLEBACKS AND ARE LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT. THE OBD ERRORS CODES STATE THAT NEITHER UNIT IS WORKING AND IT IS NOW COSTING US AN ADDITIONAL $525 - AS IT FAILED THE MASSACHUSETTS STATE EMISSIONS TEST. HYUNDAI IS AWARE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND IS NOT BEING TOLD TO FIX IT. CONSUMERS DESERVE BETTER.
I BOUGHT MY SANTA FE IN 2008, WITH 12,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE A GAS PEDAL SWITCH, GEAR SHIFT SWITCH, GAS GAUGE SWITCH, DRIVER'S SEAT SWITCH, TWO BATTERIES REPLACED, THE DRIVER'S VISOR HUNG DOWN, BOTH HYDRAULICS LIFTS GATE REPLACE, BACKSEAT LEFT SIDE DOOR LOCK REPLACE AND STILL DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AND OF COURSE THE ESC LIGHT PROBLEMS. ALL THE PROBLEMS STARTED IN JANUARY 2015.
STARTED MY CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE FUEL GAGE LIGHT WAS LIT ON DASHBOARD. SHUT OFF CAR. WAITED FEW SECONDS, STARTED CAR AGAIN. THE GAS GAGE NEEDLE WENT DOWN TO ZERO THEN JUMPED TO FULL, WHICH WAS CORRECT SINCE I HAD GASSED UP DAY BEFORE. THE FUEL GAUGE LIGHT WENT OFF, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR REMAINDER OF THAT DAY. AS OF LAST NIGHT, 1/31/14, NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON. MY LOCAL MECHANIC SAID HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, BUT I SEE THERE ISN'T EVEN THOUGH I AM READING SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SAME COMPLAINT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. *JS
GASKET LEAKS OIL ONTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL. HYUNDAI HAS A RECALL ON THE SISTER CAR HYUNDAI VERACRUZ FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT THE SANTA FE. I HAVE SPENT ALOT OF MONEY ON THIS REPAIR AND THINK THAT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN.
I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT HYUNDAI HAD ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V415000) FOR 2007-2012 VERACRUZ VEHICLES WITH THE LAMBDA MPI ENGINE TO CORRECT AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET THAT SATURATES THE ALTERNATOR AND CAUSES THE ALTERNATOR TO SHORT OUT. IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR CAN QUIT ON THE DRIVER. OUR 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE USES THE SAME ENGINE AND WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS (I.E. OIL LEAKING FROM FRONT VALVE COVER ONTO THE ALTERNATOR), SO I CALLED HYUNDAI TO SEE ABOUT GETTING THIS ISSUE FIXED UNDER THIS RECALL. HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS THAT HYUNDAI SHOULD HAVE TO CORRECT THIS FOR ALL VEHICLES THAT USE THE SAME LAMBDA V6 ENGINE, NOT JUST A SELECT FEW. IF IT IS DANGEROUS FOR VERACRUZ OWNERS, HOW IS IT NOT DANGEROUS FOR SANTA FE OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME ENGINE AND SYMPTOMS? I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS SAFETY RECALL EXPANDED TO COVER ALL VEHICLES THAT USE THIS SAME ENGINE. *TR

I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON A FREEWAY WHEN HIT FROM BEHIND. THE DRIVER CLAIMS HE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH YET MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE AND IS IT NORMAL?

GAS TANK SHOWS EMPTY ALTHOUGH FULL. A FEW MINUTES SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM ACROSS THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE LINE FOR YEARS. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSORS ARE MADE TO FAIL PREMATURELY, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF BOTH THE SENDER COMPONENTS.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON, AS WELL AS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ALL DOORS DO NOT ALWAYS LOCK ON THEIR OWN, PUSHING LOCK BUTTON ON KEYCHAIN TWICE DOES NOT SOUND THE BEEP TO ENSURE DOORS LOCKED, CAR ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY, FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. ALL OF THESE HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY HYUNDAI BUT FOR SOME REASON, MY 2007 WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES IS NOT COVERED. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE VISOR CAME DOWN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THUS BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. VISOR ULTIMATELY FELL COMPLETELY OFF WITH ONLY WIRES DANGLING. A CRASH WAS BARELY AVOIDED HAD IT NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED BY A YOUNG EXPERIENCED FEMALE DRIVER. WITHIN 30 MINUTES THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR DID THE SAME ALTHOUGH IT HELD ON BY THE WIRES. THIS OCCURRED WITH A PASSENGER OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THIS SITUATION IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER NEARLY CAUSED A PILEUP ON THE BUSIEST STRETCH OF FREEWAY IN RENO NEVADA KNOW AS THE SPAGHETTI BOWL. ACCORDING TO OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME TYPE VEHICLE THEY HAVE ENCOUNTERED A SIMILAR SITUATION. HYUNDAI AND THE DEALERSHIPS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND LIBEL FOR ANY SUCH CAUSES OF PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE INCIDENTS AND AN IMMEDIATE RECALL ISSUED BEFORE ANY FURTHER LOSS OF PROPERTY OR LIFE. DOCUMENTATION ON THE INTERNET CONFIRM THAT DEALERSHIPS AND MANUFACTURE ARE AWARE. REPAIR SHOULD BE MADE AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE AS THIS IS A DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP AND PRODUCT. MY WIFE TRIED TO PUT CAR IN REVERSE TO AVOID ACCIDENT BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE OF FAILURE OF PART STOP LAMP SWITCH. SHE COLLIDED DUE TO THIS FAILURE. THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE INACCURATELY, FINALLY INDICATING THE TANK IS EMPTY AND EMPTY LIGHT IN ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON AS WELL. A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT MECHANICS ESTIMATED IT WILL COST BETWEEN $700 AND $1,100 DOLLARS TO TRACK DOWN AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A RECALL, HYUNDAI STATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH AIRBAGS, AFTER SUCCESSFULLY PROVING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE FAULTY AS DEFINED BY THE BBB, I WAS OFFERED $800 FORT CAR THAT BLUE BOOKS AROUND 10-12K. SINCE THE LAW FIRM IN CHARGE OF THE CLASS ACTION ONLY PROVIDED FOR THEMSELVES, THERE WERE NO FURTHER STEPS I COULD TAKE. OCTOBER ACCIDENT CAR WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED HEAD ON AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY STRONG WITH THIS CAR. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THAT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING, NOTICED WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVE 1/4 TANK OF GAS LEFT IN TANK. GOT INTO MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON AND THE LOW GAS LIGHT AND INDICATOR WAS BELOW EMPTY. FILLED UP AT THE GAS STATION BUT ONLY TOOK 10 GALLONS. TWO DAYS LATER SAME ISSUE BUT AS I WAS WAITING FOR GAS THE INDICATOR WENT UP PASSED 1/4 FULL. SOMETHING SEEMS WRONG WITH GAS GAUGE SENSOR. I HAVE LOOKED AND SEE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS. WHILE IN A PARKING LOT, I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN BY PUTTING MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE. AS MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR BEGAN MOVING FORWARD. WITHOUT REMOVING MY RIGHT FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, I PUT MY OTHER FOOT ON THE PEDAL AND SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL (THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC). THE REVVING UP IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL ONCE AGAIN. I DROVE BACK TO MY HOME, ABOUT SEVEN MILES, WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I HAVE NOT INFORMED THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER YET WHO LAST DID A 90,000 MAINTENANCE ON IT 8/27/2014. THE VEHICLE HAD 88,496 MILES ON IT. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. ALSO, YESTERDAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED READING MY FUEL LEVEL. I HAVE 90,100 MILES ON THE VEHICLE TODAY. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
