The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated the vehicle would not immediately start-up and required several attempts before the vehicle would start-up. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the dealer informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, she heard abnormal knocking sounds coming from the engine. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. A case was opened. The failure mileage was 95,934.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK FROM MY RESIDENCE, I BEGAN HEARING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL, AS WELL AS EXPERIENCING EXTENSIVE "PLAY" IN IT AS WELL. THIS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN MY LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH HAS VERY CLOSE TRAFFIC, AND MADE RESPONSE TO MY STEERING ACTIONS SEEM DELAYED BECAUSE OF SAID PLAY. EVEN ON NORMAL CITY, SURFACE STREETS, IT WAS NOT HANDLING CORRECTLY, AND TOOK EFFORT TO MAINTAIN MY DESIGNATED LANE, AS WELL AS MAKING TURNS AND RESPONSE TO OTHER TRAFFIC WHERE MY STEERING WAS PERTINENT. THE ISSUE PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED TO THE POINT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT IN HYUNDAI VEHICLES, AS WELL AS THEIR KIA VEHICLES. I COULD NOT FIND A RECALL, BUT DID SEE WHERE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON KIA VEHICLES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND AVOID THE RECALL. SO WHY NOT ON THE HYUNDAI VEHICLES AFFECTED WITH THIS SAFETY PROBLEM.
DRIVING TO WORK MY ENGINE STARTED HEATING UP AND ALL ELECTRONICS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND I LOST SPEED CONTROL WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THERE IT STARTS TO MISSFIRE ALSO SEATBELT IS INSIDE OUT NOT WORKING PROPERLY ON DRIVER'S SIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON SERVICING HIS VEHICLE, HE DISCOVERED GREASE LEAKING FROM A STUB LOCATED BETWEEN THE RIGHT AXLE AND THE TRANSMISSION. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V355000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH WAS LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A VIN SEARCH WHICH SHOWED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO FIRST INFORMED HIM THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT AFTER HE GAVE THE MANUFACTURER ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COUGHLIN HYUNDAI (2300 HEBRON RD, HEATH, OH 43056) WHERE THE CONTACT PROVIDED THE DEALER WITH A CASE NUMBER FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHICH STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V355000 (POWER TRAIN). THE DEALER DISPUTED THE CLAIM AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO THEN DENIED THE REPAIR FOR THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE QUANTITY OF OIL UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BILL HOOD FORD LOCATED AT 1500 N MORRISON BLVD, HAMMOND, LA 70401 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 168,000.

DRIVING ON A 45 MPH ROAD THE ENGINE LOST ACCELERATION
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE HIGHWAY AT 80MPH AND I JUST LOST POWER. CHECK ENGINE AND OIL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON TO EXIT HIGHWAY I HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE. BASICALLY I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I FOUND OUT THE NEXT DAY ABOUT A RECALL 162 ABOUT ENGINE FAILURE FOR THIS MODEL. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI USA BECAUSE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN THE US AND AFTER 5 DAYS NOT HEARING FROM THEM I DECIDED TO CALL BACK ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE CASE HAS NOT BEEN HANDLED YET. SO NOW I AM BEING TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I AM LEFT WITH A RECALL THAT IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY. WAY TO GO HYUNDAI. *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE UP A INCLINE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HAD JUST MERGED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FLASHED AND THE VEHICLE HAD STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING STILL IN PARK. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR ON IN PARK BUT IT WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO THE CAR ROLLED BACK WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I CUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE NEXT LIGHT WHERE THE CAR CUT OFF COMPLETELY STILL IN DRIVE DURING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AGAIN. THE PASSENGER DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON PLACE THE CAR IN REVERSE INTO AN PARKING LOT WHERE I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK CAUSE THE CAR WOULD NEVER START BACK UP. WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE LOCKED UP ON AFTER HAVING SEVERAL MECHANICS LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND STILL TODAY I HAVE A CAR THAT I JUST PURCHASED IN MAY AND CAN'T DRIVE DUE TO THE ENGINE LOCKING UP.

THE CAMERA HAS A TENDENCY TO JUST GO BLACK, LOSING ALL REAR VISIBILITY. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR INPUT IN REVERSE AND LASTS A FEW SECONDS OR MORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH ABS MODULES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 61,000.
PURCHASED 4/9/2020. HAD TO BUY BATTERY WITHIN 1 MONTH. THEN REBUILT ENGINE HAD TO BE INSTALLED AND NOW I AM HAVING TO PUT 1 QUART OF OIL IN THE VEHICLE DAILY DUE TO OIL LEAKING UNDER VEHICLE CONSTANTLY WHICH I HAVE HAD TO DO FOR 1 FULL WEEK UNTIL TOMORROW WHEN DEALERSHIP AGREED TO SERVICE VEHICLE AGAIN!
In May 2020 the vehicle started experiencing an issue that would constantly put it in limp mode. Took it in at an automotive place and they replaced it with a brand new computer. A few days later, the issue happened again. Took it back. They could not determine the problem and said we should bring it to the local Hyundai dealership in Naples, FL. Hyundai dealership in Naples, FL swore up and down it was the brake pedal assembly. Trusted their judgment and replaced it. Not even a few days later, car goes back into limp mode. Take it back to the local Hyundai dealership. They swear up and down it is now the tracking device on the vehicle. So between the warranty company, the dealership we bought the car from and the local Hyundai dealership we get the tracking device reinstalled. We take the car not even a few days later car goes back into limp mode. We dealt with this issue since May 2020-September 2020 at the local Hyundai dealership. They finally disconnected the tracking device. Now mind you the limp mode issues with the vehicle only happen when it is raining. In our dry season we experience no issues. Fast forward to June 2021 limp mode issues have returned since we are now in our rainy season. Local Hyundai dealership swore up and down again it is the tracking device. I had advised them it is impossible since they unplugged it and this issue only happens in the rain. They still swore it was the tracking device. They finally got the vehicle really wet and they finally were able to see what we were talking about. So now they changed their professional opinion that it is the wiring harness. Apparently this vehicle has two different wiring harnesses. So they are suggesting we replace both, but they can't guarantee that will work. So it appears they really do not know what is wrong with the car. If it was truly wiring then why would it only malfunction in the rain and not when it is dry? How is rain getting getting under the hood and through the protective component

STEERING RATTLES BECAUSE A SHOCK DAMPER WEARS OUT PREMATURELY. 4. SEATS- ELECTRIC CONTROL BUTTON CONTACTS TARNISH WITH USE AND QUIT WORKING.
STARTED OUT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL HAVING A LOT OF PLAY AND SMALL CLICKING NOISES WITH SHARP TURNS, THIS HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IF I GO OVER A SPEED BUMP OR EVEN SLIGHTLY ADJUST THE WHEEL IN STREET TRAFFIC THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN. ON A SMALL HIGHWAY WHEN I ACCELERATE TO 65MPH THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND JERKS BACK AND FORTH TO THE POINT OF NEARLY LOSING CONTROL AND THERE IS A CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE.I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM IS A PLASTIC COUPLER WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I DID MY OWN RESEARCH ON LINE AND I AM VERY UNSETTLED WITH WHAT I READ. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS ISSUE YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT CAN ONLY BE DONE AT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND A RECALL ISSUED ASAP.
THE CAR WENT OF FIRE ON HIGHWAY
STEERING WHEEL HAS TOO MUCH PLAY AND CLICKS WHEN MOVED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN FIRST TURNED. NOT A CONSTANT CLICKING SOUND, BUT RATHER A MECHANICAL CLICK INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. PER RESEARCH, THIS IS APPARENTLY DUE TO A WELL-DOCUMENTED FAILURE OF A RUBBER OR PLASTIC COUPLER INSIDE THE ELECTRIC STEERING MODULE. DANGEROUS, AND A COSTLY REPAIR. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
BACKSEAT PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT WILL NOT PULL OUT FAR ENOUGH TO BUCKLE. TOOK TO HYUNDAI AND TOLD THAT THERE ARE TEETH BROKEN OFF IN THE ROLLER PART OF SEATBELT. IT SEEMS THAT THIS WOULD BE FAULTY PARTS FOR TEETH TO ACTUALLY BREAK OFF AND NOW KNOWING THIS, ARE ANY OF THE OTHER SEATBELTS AT RISK OF BEING FULLY SECURE FOR PROTECTION. WOULD LIKE INVESTIGATION AND WONDERING WHY IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY HYUNDAI. THEY JUST SHOWED HIM IN A HANDWRITTEN SCRAP OF PAPER AN ESTIMATE AND DISMISSED. GOING FOR SECOND OPINION AND SOMETHING IN WRITING.
AIR AND DEFROSTERS QUIT TURN ENGINE OFF RESTART AND IT WORKED.5 TIMES .THE ENGINE IS A 2013 2.0 TURBO SANTA FE USING OIL 2 QUARTS A WEEK, ENGINE IS MAKING A NOISE. ALSO, DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT GETS BAD? YOU MUST CHECK THE OIL ALL THE TIME..
The paint is peeling off, started a couple of years ago, but its getting worse and worse. I jsut read about this recall that was issued. Needed to know what can be done. The front is peeled, so i added a hood front end bra, and have peeling spots all around. I try to wash only with soft water so it will not peel as much. I added a picture of the front with the bra, but if needed i will send one without. This picture was sent to my insurance. "Hyundai Paint Peeling Recall Explained The Hyundai Paint Peeling Recall was issued in 2016 due to a defect in the exterior paint finish of certain Hyundai models. This defect caused the paint to peel or bubble on the affected vehicles, leaving them with an unsightly appearance. Affected models and years include the Santa Fe Sport (2013-2016), Sonata (2015-2016), Tucson (2011-2016), Elantra GT (2013-2016), and Azera (2012-2016)."
The engine(3.3L) on my vehicle went out. It has well under 100,000 miles on it. I was driving down the highway and the engine just started making a noise and instantly shut down. There were no check engine lights on or any warning at all. The vehicle wasn't making any noises at all until the moment it shut down without warning. There wasn't any oil pressure lights on or low oil lights or nothing. The oil was always regularly changed. My family and I are just lucky that we were on a cold, dark, empty highway that night instead of on a busy interstate. If we had been in busy traffic, it would have been a very dangerous situation. I have called the Hyundai dealership(Crain Hyundai, North Little Rock,AR)where I bought the vehicle from. I explained to them what was going on. They said there is nothing they can do about it because I'm the second owner of the vehicle. I called the Hyundai Cooperation and explained the situation to them as well. They gave me a case number and also said there is nothing they can do about it. I went on the internet and found that several people have had the same problem with their vehicle engine (3.3L)as me. I also found that Hyundai had done a recall on that same vehicle year, make and model for the exact same problem. But their recall was only for the 4 cylinder engine and not for the 6 cylinder engine. I called Hyundai Cooperation back and told them that they needed to add the 6 cylinder engine to their recall as well. They still insisted that there was nothing they could do. I think the Hyundai Cooperation needs to fix this problem. It's very expensive to us consumers of theirs. Someone could also get hurt if their vehicle shut down on them in heavy traffic or in the wrong place.
STEERING WHEEL CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MOVING, TURNING AND MEDAL TO MEDAL NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS.
MY CAR KEEPS TURNING ON AND OFF. AS OF RECENTLY THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND OFF INSIDE THE CAR( RADIO, LIGHTS, ) THEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP BUT THE GAS WAS STILL ABLE TO BE USED. THE ABS , STEERING WHEEL , AND SUV INDICATORS WERE RED ON THE DASHBOARD
ABS & BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON. EVEN AFTER REPLACING BRAKES. THIS IS CURRENT RECALL BUT MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW UP UNDER THIS RECALL. THE RADIO & GPS WORKS BUT THERE IS NO SOUND COMING OUT. I WAS ABLE TO RESET BEFORE BUT NOT ANYMORE.
EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE THE DRIVER SIDE BREAK LIGHT HAS GONE OUT. I KEEP REPLACING THE BULB BUT I FIND OUT IT'S THE SOCKET. AS WELL THE DRIVER SIDE PARKING LIGHT THE HALO OVER THE FRONT LIGHT HAS GONE OUT THIS HAS TO BE A DEFECT PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND HOW THIS KEEPS GOING OUT. THE HALO CANNOT BE REPAIRED EASILY.
THERE'S A LEAK LEADING TOWARDS THE GAS TANK. I WENT TO GET IT DIAGNOSE AND THAT WHAT IT SAID. BUT DONT KNOW WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM.

RICK CASE HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 19991 VILLAVIEW RD, CLEVELAND, OH 44119 AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. Hyundai Recall HY251, NHTSA 23V651000. The ABS Module is failing. This issue may cause the car to catch fire while driving or parked. I've taken the car to multiple dealers. The ABS light is on, the Traction Assist light is on, the Down Hill Assist light is on, and the Parking Brake light is on. The dealers are more than happy to provide standard maintenance services, but are evidently unable to get the part to fix this issue. One dealer told me they could replace the entire ABS Module, but the manufacture would not approve it. This car is my main form of transportation and is causing me enormous stress not knowing when or where my car is going to catch on fire, and if it'll end up causing damage to other people's property. Hyundai has had more than sufficient time to address this issue and to make the corrective parts available to dealers.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
WE HAD AN ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN RUNNY ROUGH. DEALERSHIP SAID CAR WAS LOW ON OIL. THEY WANT TO PERFORM A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. INTERNET SEARCH SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. HOW DO WE GET THIS RESOLVED. CAR CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES.
MY HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT 2013 MODEL SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED. INCIDENT HAPPENED ON DEC 5, 2019. I AM ATTACHING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON CITY ROAD AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH AND SUDDENLY SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF HOOD. SHE STOPPED THE VEHICLE, GOT OUT OF IT AND A NEARBY DRIVER CALLED 911. FIRE DEPARTMENT FOLKS REACHED THE LOCATION IN 5 TO 10 MINS AND CONTROLLED THE FIRE.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 65MPH MY STEERING ALL OF THE SUDDEN GOT HARD AND THE STEERING LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON THE DASH BOARD. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK WITH OUT ANY POWER STERRING BUT MADE IT A TOUGH RIDE
2/10/20 MY RIGHT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS BLOWING OUT. WE HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHT 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN A WEEK. OUR MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT I REPORT THIS PROBLEM TO THE NHTSA TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. MY LIGHT IS OUT AGAIN!!! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. CANNOT SEE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD UNLESS I USE MY HIGH BEAMS.
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEPS BLOWING LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER BEING REPLACED.
MANY TIME MY HYUNDAI ENGINE HESITATES WHEN STARTING OFF. ONLY DOES THIS OCCASIONALLY. MY 2013 SANTE FE HAS DONE THIS HESITATION SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I DO NOT EXPECT IT TO BE DONE. THE DEALER HAS CHECK IT AND ADJUSTED IT BUT STILL HESITATES, BUT NOT OFTEN.DEALER INDICATES THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. HAPPENS WHEN I AM STARTING OFF.
In July purchased this used vehicle in Florida. In November of 2021 while on a road trip from Florida emergency lights came on and engine stopped on I-75. Was towed after 45 minutes to dealer who had vehicle for 3 weeks and said item was was repaired. In January of 2021 the same thing happened, this time on a one lane mountain road. It did not catch fire but the rpms were very bad and slowly drove the 9 miles to home. The dealership that Hyundai National told me to contact refused to tow the car even after telling him I was 76 and in a wheelchair and was scared to death to drive it the 40 miles to get there. After 2.2 weeks he contacted me and told me it was once again repaired and to come get it. Knowing my husband had just passed away and I had no one and living in the rural mountains of Georgia. Three weeks again the emergency lights have come on and sometimes will drive but rpms are very low and I am very fearful to drive it. Hyundai National told me to call the dealer who said there were no recalls as he did before.
VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 162 ON 11/6/19. DEALERSHIP INSTRUCTED ME TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, DRIVE MY VEHICLE, AND RETURN EVERY 700-1000 MILES TO HAVE OIL LEVELS CHECKED. I COMPLIED AND DROVE MY VEHICLE ON A SHORT TRIP ON 11/8/19. AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30 PM, AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE SEIZED AND I LOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE. MY WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN (4 AND 6) WERE IN THE VEHICLE. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST OFF OF THE ROAD AND INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO TOW THE VEHICLE, FIND IMMEDIATE TRANSPORTATION, AND PAY FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAD BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO HYUNDAI SAFETY RECALL 162. I FEEL THAT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY WAS UNNECESSARILY PUT AT RISK AS I HAD MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP TWO DAYS PRIOR FOR THIS EXACT RECALL. THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP EXAMINING THE VEHICLE IS CHECKERED FLAG HYUNDAI. BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF TOWN, MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TYSINGER HYUNDAI WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY LOCATED AWAITING AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT.
PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND UNDER VEHICLE. FROM LOOKING AT VEHICLE FORUMS APPEARS TO BE STEERING GEAR USED IN ELECTRICAL STEERING MOTOR. STEERING HAS PLAY IN IT WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING. DEALER CONTACTED AND SAID NO RECALLS, UNSURE IF COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY DEALER SOLD ME.
HYUNDAI CONTINUES TO HAVE ONGOING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE FWD TRANSMISSION ALL TYPES AND LARGELY MOST OF ITS MODEL BRANDS. THE POINT IS THAT EVEN UNDER 100KMILES THEY REFUSE TO ASSIST IN THE COST FOR REPAIRS...
ABS,ESC, BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON, INCLINE WARNING LIGHT ON WHEEL BEARING SPEED SENSORS BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED CODES INDICATED PROBLEM WITH WIRES, REPLACED BUT NO SOLUTION
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN 231 WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR STOPS AND WE TRY TO GET IN NON TRAFFIC...WHEN WE GO TO CRANK IT...IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS FALLING APART...WE HAVE REGULAR OIL CHANGES! NOW THEY SAY MY ENGINE IS BLOWN? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? RECALL
THE FUEL GAUGE ISN'T GIVING THE CORRECT READINGS. TWICE MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SHE WAS THINKING SHE HAD 70/75 MILES TO GO AND GET TO A STATION. 1ST TIME, SHE WAS DRIVING HOME AND IT SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF AND 2ND TIME IT SHUTS OFF AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IF IT'S READING 75 TO 84 AND YOU ADD GAS, IT STAYS ON 75 TO 84 UNTIL YOU GO BACK AND ADD MORE. SO EVEN AFTER ADDING GAS, SOMETIMES SHE'S SCARED THAT THE CAR MAY BE GOING BY THE GUAGE READING INSTEAD OF WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN THE TANK AND MAY STILL SHUT OFF. P HYUNDAI SAYS IT'S NOT A DANGER BUT HOWS YOUR CAR SUDDENLY KILLS ON THE HIGHWAY AWAY FROM FAMILY OR FRIENDS OR MAYBE STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, NOT DANGER?
WHILE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, AFTER OPERATING FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES, I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE ROUTE WITH TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. NO WARNING, NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS, NOT STALLING OF ENGINE, IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF. HAD TO PULL OFF SIDE OF ROAD, THRU TRAFFIC, AND LEAVE VEHICLE SITTING UNTIL IT COULD BE TOWED.
THE VECHILE ONLY HAS 78000 MILES ON IT, AND THIS WAS FOUND IN THE PARKING LOT OF A GROCERY STORE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. APPEARS THAT INSULATION IN THE MUFFLER SYSTEM STARTS TO COME OUT. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A HAIR LIKE SUBSTANCE THAT COMES OUT OF THE MUFFLER, BUT IS IS FOUND TO BE THE INSULATION THAT LINES THE MUFFLER WHEN IT IS FAULTY/OR BAD.
