TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL SPEWED FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUEL PURGE CANISTER AND FUEL TANK FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED HYUNDAI SONATA 2008 A FEW MONTHS AGO AND WE DECIDED TO TEST IT ON A LONG DRIVE. WE CHANGED THE OIL, FILLED UP THE TANK AND MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED WE TOOK OFF TO BOSTON (MA) A 750 MI DRIVE FROM COLUMBUS (OH) FOR A FAMILY REUNION. ON OUR WAY BACK THE ESC OFF LIGHT CAME UP CAUSING AN INSTANT LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND A DEAD GAS PEDAL. I LEARNED THAT IF I TURNED OFF THE CAR THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AND I COULD DRIVE FOR ANOTHER 10-15 MIN UNTIL THE LIGHT CAME UP AND WE HAD TO POOL OVER AGAIN. WE DROVE 10-15 MILES AT THE TIME ALL THE WAY HOME PRAYING THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO POOL OVER IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA WHERE THERE WAS NO PLACE TO POOL OVER AND TRAFFIC WOULD HAVE TO STOP UNTIL I WOULD RESTART MY CAR. IT WAS NERVE WRECKING BECAUSE I HAD TO STOP VERY OFTEN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE DURING THE NIGHT WITHOUT KNOWING IF THE NEXT RESTART WILL WORK AGAIN. MY WIFE AND OUR 11 MONTHS OLD WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME AND I ALL I WANTED WAS TO GET THEM HOME SAFE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND, ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC, THE CRANK ROD CAME LOOSE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED SO THE HYUNDAI 100,000 MILE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. I HAVE DONE ROUTINE OIL CHANGES AND UP TO THIS POINT HAD NO REAL PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. IT IS DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST AS I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT FOUR YEARS AND PURCHASED IT BASED ON THE IDEA THAT HYUNDAI'S ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELIABLE VEHICLES. I HAD HOPED THAT HYUNDAI WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO HELP REMEDY THE SITUATION BUT AT THIS POINT THEY HAVE NOT, WHICH IS ALSO DISAPPOINTING. IN THE FUTURE I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING A HYUNDAI. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP AND AFFECTS VISIBILITY. ALSO A HAZARD THAT MAY CAUSE INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT AS IT LIES PARALLEL TO THE GROUND, STICKING OUT TOWARDS DRIVER'S FOREHEAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V161000 (AIR BAGS) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REMEDY PART WAS ON HOLD AND THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON AFTER ADJUSTING DRIVER'S SEAT. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS DEFECTIVE EVEN THOUGH NO PROBLEMS WITH OPERATING SEATBELT - REPAIR COST $380. READ NUMEROUS REPORTS ABOUT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL - HAD CHECKED OUT - NO PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER SIDE. READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT SONATAS FROM VARIOUS YEARS HAVING AIR BAG PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT BUCKLES. REPAIRS WERE MADE ON MANY BUT LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE OF SO MANY COMPLAINTS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER IT DID NOT GET DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
FUEL GAUGE "FLOATS" AND THEN DROPS TO EMPTY. PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS ON "EMPTY" NOW WHICH LIGHTS MY CHECK ENGINE SENSOR, BUT EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE IT WILL RISE ABOVE EMPTY FOR A FEW MILES AND THEN DROP LIKE A ROCK AGAIN! HAVE BEEN TRACKING GAS MILEAGE WITH MY TRIP ODOMETER, BUT HAVING BEEN READING THAT THIS "FIX" IS NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE, AND PEOPLE ARE RUNNING OUT OF GAS LEFT AND RIGHT ON MAJOR, BUSY HIGHWAYS. AS THE MILEAGE INDICATES, I DRIVE MORE THAN 100 MILES PER DAY AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE MY CAR JUST STOP RUNNING LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED WELL BEFORE NOW. ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR A REPEAT OF THE NATIONAL AIRBAG RECALL CURRENTLY UNDERWAY, TROUBLE THAT SHATTERED COUNTLESS LIVES, BECAUSE A LARGE CAR COMPANY IS TOO CHEAP TO FIX A PROBLEM THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF AND MAKE THEIR CARS SAFE? GOVERNMENT STEP IN!
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING AND PASSANGER SEAT BELT LIGHT FLASHES WHEN A PASSANGER IS PRESENT, EVEN WHEN THE PASSANGER SEAT BELT IS BUCKLED. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DUE TO A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE PASSAGER SEAT BUCKLE AND WAS NOT COVERED. I STILL HAVE NOT FIXED, BUT I MUST BEFORE NEXT STATE INSPECTION. I AM REPORTING BECAUSE I SAW RECENT REPORT OF INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED ABRUPTLY TO AVOID AN OBJECT AND SWAYED OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH, CRASHING INTO CONCRETE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED AND LANDED UPSIDE DOWN ON ITS ROOF. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED SEVERE BODILY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR WON'T STAY UP/ NO TENSION. HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN AND SWINGS FREELY INTO THE LINE OF DRIVER'S VISION. *TR
VISOR ABOVE DRIVER WILL NOT STAY UP. WHENEVER DRIVING HAVE TO PUT THE VISOR TO THE SIDE TO HAVE A CLEAR VISION OF THE STREET. THIS IS A HAZARD EVEN WHEN THE SUN IS NOT SHINING. *TR
BOTH AT A COMPLETE STOP WHILE IN GEAR AND WHILE MOVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH WITH MY WIFE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. IN THIS VEHICLE THAT LIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO GO OFF WHEN SOMEONE OVER 85LBS SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. TOOK VIDEO OF THREE INCIDENTS OVER A PERIOD OF TWO DAYS. SPOKE TO JENKINS HYUNDAI, OCALA, FL WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR & THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL A CODE. THEY WERE ALSO UNINTERESTED IN THE VIDEOS AND STATED THAT THE FRONT SEAT SENSOR IS CALIBRATED FOR 115 LBS +/-. AS MY WIFE IS 128 LBS THEY FEEL THAT IT IS WELL WITHIN LIMITS & THAT SOMETIMES THE AIRBAG SENSOR WILL NOT SENSE HER PRESENCE. I THOUGHT THE LIMIT WAS 85 LBS FOR SMALL CHILDREN. IF WE HAVE AN ACCIDENT WITH MY WIFE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY. *TR
SINCE BUYING MY VEHICLE IN FEB 2013. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. AIR BAG LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR HAS BROKEN DOWN ON ME. TOOK CARE TO GET FIXED FROM DEALERSHIP WITHIN IN MY 30 DAYS WARRANTY. ROBERTSONS HONDA FIXED THE BATTERY PROBLEM AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT NOT THAT OTHER 2. THEY STATED TO ME THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT TO FIX IT. WHICH IS NOT MY PROBLEM. *TR
GRINDING NOISE ON REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKES--DISCOVERED MISSING BOLT ON CALIPER FRAME, BRAKE PADS BADLY WORN. ALL OTHER BRAKE PADS IN GREAT SHAPE, SHOWING LITTLE WEAR. CAR IS DRIVEN IN RURAL AREA, WITH VERY LITTLE CITY DRIVING. WHEN I WENT TO HYUNDAI TO BUY A NEW BOLT THE PARTS GUY SAID "THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME" I THINK THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG HERE. ALSO CHECKED ON LINE FINDING I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS ON THE REAR WHEELS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE CONTACT MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS TILTED AWKWARDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE REAR PASSENGER UPPER CONTROL ARM WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. *TR
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AGAINST THE HEADLINER AND NOW OBSTRUCT MY VIEW. *TR
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES. THE PROBLEM RESOLVED BRIEFLY AFTER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SEAT SENSOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE PROBLEM RETURNED.
TRIED TO OPEN DRIVERSIDE DOOR HANDLE COME OFF IN MY HAND 3 MONTHS AFTER WARRANTY WAS UP NEVER HEARD OF PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE BREAKING. *TR
THE FOLLOWING IS AN EMAIL THAT I SENT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I RECENTLY WENT TO FOR RECURRING BRAKE/CALIPER ISSUES ON THIS VEHICLE. AS YOU KNOW I WAS IN YESTERDAY (BUERKLE HYUNDAI WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN @ 8:48 AM INVOICE 183543) WITH MY 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH LEFT REAR BRAKE ISSUES. IT SEEMED LIKE THE LEFT REAR CALIPER MAY BE STICKING. AS I EXPLAINED WHEN THE CAR WAS DROPPED OFF YESTERDAY (2/5/13), WE HAD JUST REPLACED BOTH REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND THE CAR ONLY HAD 29,975 MILES WHEN THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED ON 12/22/2012. I BROUGHT IN THE PREVIOUS BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR FOR YOUR INSPECTION FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SIDE THAT IS CURRENTLY HAVING ISSUES. IT CLEARLY SHOWED THE BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY GONE AND THE ROTOR WAS SCRAPED AND RUINED. THIS WAS SHOWN TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR HELPING ME, BRIAN COYLE. I HAVE ATTACHED, JUST A FEW OUT OF SEVERAL, WEBSITES FOR YOUR REVIEW TO SHOW THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS RECEIVED MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS. I STARTED UP THE CAR AND NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES UP ON THE DASH DISAPPEARS AND REAPPEARS AND STAYS ON. AFTER VISITING MECHANIC THE ERROR CODE B1448 APPEARS. I'M AFRAID THAT THE AIR BAGS WON'T DEPLOY IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT. I'M ALSO THINKING WHETHER THIS IS ASSOCIATED TO THE LARGER OC SENSOR FAILED RECALL. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V161000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
ESC LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATES AROUND 20 - 25 MPH WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. INSPECTED THE FRONT BRAKES AND NO PROBLEMS NOTED. CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE DUE TO TPMS INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINED. TRIED TO RESET SENSOR BY DISCONNECTING VEHICLE BATTERY FOR 2 HOURS. TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND ESC LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED BRAKE SENSOR SWITCH. REVIEWED COMPLAINTS FOR VEHICLE TYPE AND NOTED THAT PREVIOUS RECALL FOR SAME SWITCH ON 2006 - 2007 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE. WIFE TOLD THAT EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS ITEM. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA FROM A HYUNDAI DEALER THERE WAS NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE SAID THE CARE HAD BEEN INSPECTED. I HAD THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS THEN A AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. SO I TOOK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I HAD BOUGHT A 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE CAR. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW SEAT BELT BUCKLE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. THEM I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER 400 DOLLARS TO GET IT REPAIRED. HOW IS THIS LEGAL TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT IS KNOWING SELL A VEHICLE WHICH THEY KNOW ABOUT? *TR
DASHBOARD AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY SINCE SEPTEMBER 2012. AT THIS TIME THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS OFF. THE PASSENGER SAFETY BELT LIGHT REMAINS PERMANENTLY ON SINCE SEPTEMBER 2012 AS WELL. CALLED THE DEALER HYUNDAI OF EL PASO AND THEY SAID MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. HOW CAN IT BE? *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V122000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:SWITCHES:BRAKE LIGHT). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,925.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. ACCORDING TO MY ONLINE RESEARCH, THIS IS A MOST COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. IT IS ALREADY THE SUBJECT OF A 2009 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD DESERVING OF A RECALL. *TR
MY REAR BRAKE CALIPERS WERE FROZEN/ CORRODED INTO THE PADS. THE REAR BRAKES WERE INOPERABLE. THIS COULD HAVE EFFECTED THE ABILITY OF THE CAR TO STOP EFFECTIVELY. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE UNLESS THE CALIPER WAS LEAKING. IT WAS CORRODED AT ONLY 39,000 MILES AND 3YRS AFTER BOUGHT. *TR
TRUNK OPENS BY ITSELF. WILL ENTER CAR AND SEE THAT" TRUNK OPEN" SIGNAL ON DASH IS ON. HAS HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT. ONE TIME THE TRUNK WAS OPEN BUT THE LATCH WAS IN THE CLOSED POSITION AND I COULD NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK UNTIL I MANUALLY OPENED THE LATCH, BUT ALL OTHER TIMES I WAS ABLE TO SIMPLY CLOSE THE TRUNK. THE DEALER SAYS I MUST BE UNINTENTIONALLY PUSHING THE REMOTE TRUNK BUTTON, BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE FOR DOZENS OF INCIDENTS. THEY SAY I MUST LEAVE THE CAR SO THEY CAN CREATE THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET IN CAR FORUMS. IN FACT MY FRIEND HAS SAME CAR AND SAME PROBLEM. *TR

CALLED DEALER TO CHECK IF COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. INFORMED IT WAS NOT. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CHECKED CHARGING SYSTEM AND FOUND ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY GOOD, BUT STARTER WAS BAD. REMOVED AND INSTALLED A NEW HYUNDAI STARTER. RE THE AMERICA'S BEST WARRANTY 60/000-100,000: ONE WOULD THINK THAT HYUNDAI WOULD HAVE COVERED THIS REPLACEMENT WITH ONLY 52 MILES OVER 60,000. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT STAY IN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VISOR CAUSES SEVERE VISIBILITY ISSUES BECAUSE IT WILL NOT FLIP UP AND IS INSTEAD FLIPPED DOWN. THIS IS A SEVERE DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO FIX IT UNLESS I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THE VISOR "BROKE" WHILE NOT IN USE. *TR

THE OTHER DAY, I FOUND THE SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEEPS ON ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THEN I FOUND THAT THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE IS ALSO ON AND THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" INDICATOR IS TURNED OFF WHEN THERE IS NO PASSENGER OR LUGGAGE ON THE SEAT. I WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THAT VEHICLE HAS NO COMMUNICATION FROM OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) MODULE UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. *TR

ON 6/11/12 AS I WAS DRIVING, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR DROPPED SUDDENLY AS I WAS BRAKING, MY FOREHEAD SLAMMED INTO THE EDGE OF THE VISOR. MY GLASSES PROTECTED MY EYES, BUT MY FOREHEAD IS SORE AND TENDER. THE VISOR NO LONGER STAYS IN THE "UP" POSITION AND "FLOPS" DOWN AT AN ANGLE. THIS IS DANGEROUS, MY VISIBILITY IS CONSTANTLY BLOCKED. THE VISOR WASN'T IN USE, IT JUST BROKE. I SECURED THE DRIVER'S VISOR WITH TAPE. TODAY, JUNE 12, 2012, I DROVE MY SON. HE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN THE VISOR ON THAT SIDE BROKE. IT JUST DROPPED DOWN AND WILL NO LONGER STAY IN THE UP POSITION! IT APPEARS THE PLASTIC DEVICE BECOMES BRITTLE AND BREAKS, THE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE VISOR FAILS, AND/OR ARMS WEAKEN. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL BUT NOT FOR MY CAR. IT APPEARS MANY HAVE WRITTEN COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I WAS HURT, A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, IT IS A SHOCK WHEN THE VISOR DROPS, BLOCKING YOUR VIEW. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, IT IS A CHEAP, EASY FIX FOR THEM BUT FOR OWNERS IT'S DANGEROUS SUDDENLY WE CAN'T SEE IN TRAFFIC, IN A CROSS WALK, ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING TO HAVE YOUR VISIBILITY SUDDENLY IMPAIRED IS DANGEROUS. AND AS IN MY CASE, THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE PHYSICAL HARM. PLEASE HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM. HYUNDAI IS A GREAT PRODUCT, IT WOULD BE A SHAME IF THE RIGHT THING WASN'T DONE. *TR

MY DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR HAS ALSO HAD PROBLEMS FOR SEVERAL YEARS -- IT GOT STUCK AND VERY HARD TO MOVE AND WHEN I TRIED MOVING IT TO THE DOWN POSITION ONE TIME IT "CLICKED" AND SINCE THEN IT CONSTANTLY FALLS -- USUALLY WHEN I HIT A BUMP -- THEN IT IS DIRECTLY AT MY FOREHEAD. IF I WERE TO EVER GET IN AN ACCIDENT I BELIEVE THE VISOR WOULD FALL TO THIS POSITION (DUE TO THE BUMP) AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO MY HEAD OR POSSIBLE DEATH. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WOULD BE $155 TO FIX THIS. THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR IS ALSO NOT WORKING PROPERLY IN THAT THE PLASTIC PIECE HAS BROKEN AND IT DOESN'T FIT IN THE HOLDER WELL. *TR

DRIVING ON I-94 IN BATTLE CREEK, MI, THE 2008 SONATA, AFTER MAKING A TICKING NOISE FOR A YEAR (WHICH THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT LOOK AT) BEGAN TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AND SOMETHING FLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE AND SMOKE CAME POURING OUT OF THE VENTS. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER ON THIS BUSY INTERSTATE AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FROM HYUNDAI. THEY SENT A WRECKER, AND WHEN THE CAR WAS LIFTED, ALL OF THE OIL WAS ON THE ROAD. THEY TOWED IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER 30 MILES AWAY IN KALAMAZOO, MI AND THEY TOLD ME THAT A ROD AND PISTON HAD FLOWN OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE OF THE CAR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH FAULTY CRANK ROD CAP BOLTS. THE TICKING I THINK WAS FROM THE ROD CAP THAT HAD COME OFF. AS OF NOW, THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING UNDER WARRANTY AWAITING OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS. PLEASE FORCE A RECALL SOON, AS THIS COULD BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
