REPAIR ATTEMPTS 5; FIRST ATTEMPT AT DATE OF INCIDENT. DRIVING ON LEVEL THREE LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPS ACCELERATING AND EXHIBITS A NO POWER CONDITION WHERE ONLY ELECTRICAL IS WORKING. I APPLY ACCELERATION UP PAST 5000 RPM AND NO RESPONSE. PAST 6000 RPM AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY KICKS IN AND OUT OF COMPLETE SHOCK I'M FORCED TO PULL OVER IN NEARBY PLAZA TO CONTACT NEAREST DEALER (IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA @ THIS TIME, ORIGINAL DEALER IN LAS VEGAS CENTENNIAL HYUNDAI). ALLEN HYUNDAI SERVICE TECHNICIAN AGREES TO KEEP IT OVERNIGHT TO DUPLICATE ISSUE. HE PUTS IN WRITING NEXT DAY "THREE NO POWER CONDITIONS." AFTER BLAMING IT ON THE TURBO AND ADJUSTING ELECTRICAL SENSORS, I CONTINUED EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM, DIFFERENT PLACES. ORIGINAL DEALER FOR SOME REASON FAILS TO DUPLICATE AND LEAVES ME HOPELESS. NO OFFER TO TRADE CAR OR TAKE IT BACK. NOW STUCK IN PURGATORY BETWEEN CORPORATE AND A MALFUNCTIONING VEHICLE. 2012 NEW OFF THE LOT SE WITH 2.0 T. *JS
VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES FOR STEERING ISSUE. CAR PULLS TO RIGHT NO MATTER ROAD CONDITIONS, TYPE OF ROAD, OR SPEED OF VEHICLE. CAR SHOWED EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR AROUND 3500 MILES. IN TOTAL CAR HAS BEEN ALIGNED FIVE TIMES, FOUR NEW TIRES PUT ON CAR, NEW STRUTS AND MOUNTS, AND NEW SHOCKS. HAD INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DRIVE VEHICLE AFTER VEHICLE "REPAIRED" FIFTH TIME AND HE SAID THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S STEERING. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY TO INFORM THEM THAT THEIR LAST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FAILED. THEY BASICALLY BLEW MY HUSBAND OFF AND TOLD HIM THE CAR IS FIXED. HOWEVER, CAR IS STILL PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND HE IS EXPERIENCING ARM FATIGUE FROM THE PULLING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL COULD BE DEPRESSED AT LEAST SIX INCHES FURTHER THAN NORMAL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SIX OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THEY WERE NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ON ONE OCCASION, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 644.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF KUMHO SOLUSK H25 TIRES, SIZE: P205/65/R16 AND DOT NUMBER YOL4YPL81411. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH IN THE SNOW, THE TIRES BEGAN TO SLIP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BAD TREAD. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. BOUGHT FROM DEALER, NEW CAR, 7MILES ON ODOMETER. CAR DOES NOT STEER OR TRACK STRAIGHT AND PULLS TO THE RIGHT, CAME WITH 16" WHEELS AND TIRE PRESSURE IS TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. CAR DID HAVE 18" WHEELS PRIOR TO SALE BUT DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE EXTRA $1000 FOR THIS OPTION. TOOK CAR TO DEALER TO CORRECT ALIGNMENT ISSUE, THEY CONFIRMED AND INSTALLED A CAMBER KIT TO THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY. CAR TRACKING RIGHT CORRECTED; HOWEVER, IT NOW WANDERS LEFT AND RIGHT REQUIRING CONTINUOUS SMALL (1/4 INCH) CORRECTIONS TO STEERING INPUT EVERY 5 -10 SECONDS TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. THIS CAUSES FATIGUE IN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF PRECISION AND CONCENTRATION NEEDED TO CONTINUOUSLY MAKE STEERING CORRECTIONS REQUIRED TO KEEP CAR DRIVING STRAIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MOVE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ABNORMALLY WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE STEERING BECAME HARD TO CONTROL AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE OUT OF THE LANE IN WHICH THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT TWICE BUT FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE STEERING CONTINUED TO PULL FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000. UPDATED 03/21/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT MOVE IF SHE HOLDS IT STRAIGHT. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE DOES GO TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT ON ITS OWN. I HAVE HAD ISSUES GALORE WITH MY CAR SINCE THE DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. FIRST ISSUE AND STILL IS JUST GAVE UP ON BRINGING IT BACK WAS THE STEERING THAT DRIFTED. THEN I HAD A SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR THAT MADE A LOUD NOISE. I ALSO HAVE A SOUND COMING FROM THE SUN ROOF. AFTER THAT I HAD A OIL LEAK IN IT'S FIRST YEAR. MY RADIO WENT OUT, MY DRIVER WINDOW STOP WORKING. MY TURBO QUIT ON ME. BATTERY DIED. I WAS STRANDED BY THE CAR 3 TIMES. IT WOULD TURN OVER FAST BUT NOT CRANK. I CALLED ROAD SIDE ON ONE OF THOSE. MY AIR BAG LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT RATTLES LIKE CHEAP PARTS. I HAVE CALLED HYUNDAI WITH NO RESPONSE AS OF YET. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. COMPLETELY NEW VEHICLE (HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED 2012) WITH NEW TIRES AS SUPPLIED BY MANUFACTURER HYUNDAI. CAR KEPT SKIDDING ON A VERY LIGHT SNOW (LESS THAN HALF INCH OF SNOW), AND TIRES WOULD HOLD NO TRACTION. HAPPENED REPEATEDLY WHENEVER THERE WAS EVEN A LIGHT SNOW. PURCHASED 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA IN DECEMBER OF 2011. STEERING FEEL IS EXTREMELY LIGHT/LOOSE, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CAR WANTS TO WANDER FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND CONSTANT INCREMENTAL STEERING ADJUSTMENTS ARE NEEDED BY THE DRIVER TO KEEP THE VEHICLE TRACKING STRAIGHT. CREATES A DANGER IF OVER-STEER IS APPLIED BY DRIVER DURING AN ADJUSTMENT IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP CAR STRAIGHT. HAVE HEARD THAT MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT ONLY EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING HIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2012 SONATA I NOTICED THAT THE CAR LIKES TO "WANDER" AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT'S A CONSTANT STRUGGLE TO KEEP THE CAR MOVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, HAVING TO CONSTANTLY ADJUST THE CAR FROM MOVING SLIGHTLY LEFT AND RIGHT, BUT NEVER IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I'VE MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO HYUNDAI, AND MENTIONED IT EVERY TIME I HAD IT SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE ANSWER WAS ALWAYS IT'S THE FACT THAT THE CAR HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING AND THAT'S THE WAY THE STEERING WORKS. I RECENTLY FOUND A FORUM '' HTTP://WWW.HYUNDAI-FORUMS.COM/YF-2011-SONATA-I45/163171-2013-SONATA-STEERING-PROBLEM-SOLVED.HTML '' WHICH HAD 43 PAGES OF SONATA OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE SOLUTION SOUNDS AS SIMPLE AS A QUICK COMPUTER UPDATE, YET THE SERVICE CENTERS HAVE ALWAYS STATED NOTHING CAN BE DONE AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I FEEL IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NOT HAVING THE ABILITY TO DRIVE THE CAR IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE HIGHWAY.
CAR LOST ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL FUNCTIONS. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE DRIVERS FRONT WHEEL SENSOR WIRE RUBBING AGAINST A SHARP SHEET METAL EDGE. SEE PHOTOS. *TR
SINCE THE FIRST DAY I LEASED THIS VEHICLE I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STEERING. I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY HAPPENED IN THE 2011 SONATA AND IT HAS BEEN CORRECTED. THE DEALER TELLS ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG! SURELY THERE IS! THE CAR HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN WHEN DRIVING. IT IS ALL OVER THE ROAD, WHEN I PUT ON THE BRAKE IT GOES OFF TO THE LEFT. DISCOVERED ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. IT HAS VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. DASHBOARD IS REFLECTED ON TO THE WINDSHEILD WHEN SUN IS ON YOUR LEFT (IT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I WAS DRIVING SOUTH AROUND 8.30AM). THIS IMPAIRS THE VISIBILITY OF THE DRIVER AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. *TT
1) THE VEHICLE IS PURCHASED ON 10/15/2012 AT MILEAGE 45. AFTER DRIVING 10 MILES FELT VOMITING SENSATION AND HEAD ACHE DUE TO VEHICLE CONSTANT VIBRATION. MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ALSO FELT THE SAME. ON FIRST ATTEMPT DEALER SAYS THERE IS WHEEL BALANCING PROBLEM, SO PERFORMED WHEEL BALANCING AND TIRE ROTATION AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME SAYING IT FIXES IT 4) WITH IN 10 MILES OF DRIVING , FOUND SAME ISSUE (HEAD ACHE AND VOMITING SENSATION) DUE TO VIBRATION . 5) TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10/21/2012, ON SECOND ATTEMPT, DEALER SAYS HE NEEDS TO REPLACE AXLE. 6) HOW CAN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE IS NOT INSPECTED FOR AXLE PROBLEM AND SOLD TO CUSTOMER? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WOULD CONTINUOUSLY BECOME FOGGY FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RESIDUE WAS CAUSED BY THE OUT-GASSING FROM THE MATERIALS IN THE VEHICLE, SUCH AS THE SOLVENT FROM THE PLASTIC WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME HOT. THE DEALER TRIED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BUT THE SMELLS AND VAPORS WOULD NOT DIMINISH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CLAIM WAS FILED ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THREE PROBLEMS CROPPED UP IMMEDIATELY OR SHORTLY AFTER INITIAL OWNERSHIP. THE CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT, AND THE STEERING WHEEL MUST BE TURNED TO THE LEFT OF CENTER TO COMPENSATE WHEN DRIVING ON A FLAT SURFACE. SECOND, THE SUNROOF AREA DEVELOPED A LOUD CREAKING SOUND WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN THROUGH A TURN OR OVER UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. THIRD, AND MOST ALARMINGLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO DISENGAGE WHEN THE CANCEL BUTTON IS PRESSED. IT ALSO INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO ENGAGE WHEN THE SET BUTTON IS PRESSED. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS FAILED TO DISENGAGE, TAPPING THE BRAKE OR PRESSING THE MAIN ON/OFF BUTTON WILL CAUSE IT TO DISENGAGE. HOWEVER, THE CONFUSION THAT COMES FROM THE CANCEL BUTTON FAILURE MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM DURING A SHORT TEST DRIVE AND REFUSES TO REPLACE OR TEST THE ELECTRONIC MODULES. *TR

2012 SONATA LTD 2.0T - STEERING IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT RANDOM TIMES AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. HOWEVER, IT IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CAR PULLS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS BUT MAINLY LEFT. SEPT 11, 2011 VISIBILITY PROBLEM, DEFECTIVE GLASS IN HYUNDAI SONATA 2012 REPORTED DEFECT IN WINDSHIELD AND REAR WINDOW TO DEALER DAY AFTER PURCHASED. THE WINDSHIELD HAS DISTORTION, RIPPLES IN THE GLASS WHEN DRIVER LOOKS OVER THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD OR WHEN THE PASSENGER LOOKS AT THE ROAD AHEAD. THE DEFECT IN THE REAR WINDOW GLASS APPEARS TO HAVE WIGGLY/DISTORTED IMAGE WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. THIS VISUAL DISTORTION DEFECT IN THE GLASS CAUSES A DRIVER TO HAVE DISTRACTED VISIBILITY AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. HE DROVE VEHICLE AND VERIFIED COMPLAINT. TRACK BALANCE -TRACKED FOR 17 SECONDS. CONTACTED DEALER AGAIN BUT HAD TO LEAVE FOR FLORIDA. WENT TO ORLANDO DEALER JAN.3, 2012. THEY INDICATED NJ DEALER REPLACED BOTH TIE RODS, PERFORMED ALIGNMENT, RECALIBRATED STEERING, CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE. NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. CONSTANT CORRECTIONS ARE NEEDED TO KEEP VEHICLE IN PROPER DIRECTION. DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT ANY SPEED. CONTACTED NJ DEALER[XXX]) NUMEROUS TIMES TO RESTATE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE SKIDDED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY HYUNDAI SONATA GLS FROM DAY 1 (PURCHASE DATE 8/31/11) WITH REGARDS TO THE STEERING ALIGNMENT. THE CAR WILL EITHER DRIFT OR PULL TO THE RIGHT. I RETURNED IT FOR SERVICE 3 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY "FIXED THE ALIGNMENT". I RETURNED THE CAR ON 10/10/11 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT HYUNDAI RECENTLY ISSUED A RECALL JUST A "COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO" WHICH I CANNOT FIND AND THAT HYUNDAI HAS FOUND A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT AND SAID IT WAS "SPOT ON" AND THEY DID SOMETHING TO THE TIRES. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE CENTER THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. *KB
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. AS WELL AS THE HORRIBLE TICKING (CYLINDERS NOT INJECTORS!) MAINLY AT FIRST WAS THE RADIO WOULD GO OUT. WAS NOT EVEN A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE, DEALERS ANSWER WAS TO "REMOVE THE FUSE AND PUSH BACK IN AND IT WILL WORK". SO I DID, SHADY BUT I DID. THEN CRUISE WOULD NOT WORK, WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER SHUT OFF VEHICLE THEN MAYBE IT WOULD WORK. NEXT MY CAR KEPT BURNING OUT HEADLAMPS. FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE (I USE SILVER SILVERSTAR ULTRA HEADLIGHTS FOR LONG TRIPS) I'M NOW ON MY 8TH SET. I EVEN CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR CHEAP HEADLIGHTS! OOPS! THEN THE CLICKING AND POPPING STARTED WITH THE FRONT WHEELS FIRST ONLY IN REVERSE THEN ALL THE TIME ESPECIALLY WHILE TURNING. I WAS PAST THE WARRANTY AND BECAUSE I DIDN'T ASK ABOUT IT BEFORE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY DIDN'T FIX IT!!! THEN THE CRAZY ELECTRICAL STUFF STARTED! MY DOME LIGHT STOPPED WORKING RIGHT SO I HAD TO TURN IT OFF COMPLETELY. THEN PARKING TAIL LIGHT STOPPED WORKING. FINALLY I WENT THROUGH MY THIRD BATTERY AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO ASK WHAT ALL THIS CRAPPIE AS ABOUT, OH IT'S A BAD BATTERY, YOU KNOW THEY DO GO BAD THEY SAID. WELL THANK GOD I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY FIXED AN AXLE, CLOCK SPRING REPLACED BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEEL, I HAD TO BUY A NEW BATTERY AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. RECENTLY AFTER THIS WHOLE ORDEAL I STARTED WITH THE DEALER IN AUGUST AND DIDN'T GET MY CAR FIXED AND BACK TO ME UNTIL ALMOST CHRISTMAS! GOT MY CAR BACK TAIL LIGHT STILL DOESN'T WORK, CRUISE IS SOMEWHAT FIXED RADIO DID IT AGAIN AND GUESS WHAT, THE HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AGAIN A WEEK AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR!!! ARRRGGGHHHH! I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW SET OF HEADLIGHTS (BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS TELL YOU TO REPLACE IN PAIRS) AND GUESS WHAT EVEN THE BRAND NEW BULB DOESN'T WORK!!! WHILE BRAKING HARD TO AVOID A COYOTE, VEHICLE PULLED HARD RIGHT EVEN THOUGH I WAS TRYING TO STEER LEFT. WAS PULLED OFF ROAD TO THE RIGHT AND HIT A DRIVEWAY. CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO UNDER CARRIAGE AND BUMPER. NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP OF THE ISSUE WHILE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM. AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2011, I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM HYUNDAI BLUE LINK THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ESC (ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL). BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS AN ERROR WITH THE BLUE LINK SYSTEM. A MONTH LATER, ANOTHER E-MAIL, TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS AND A CLOCK WHEEL SENSOR WAS DEAD IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE ESC ADJUSTS PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE CALIPERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE IN THE SAME DIRECTION BEFORE BRAKING. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MANAGER THAT IF A SENSOR WAS BAD IN THE STEERING COLUMN, IT WOULD AFFECT THE BRAKING AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO IMPROPERLY APPLY BRAKING PRESSURE THUS PULLING THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. CONTACTED INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY WERE PURSUING HYUNDAI ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR
AS SOON AS I STARTED DRIVING MY NEW 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA, I NOTICED THAT IT WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY CROSS ROTATED AND BALANCED THE TIRES, AND ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURE. I WAS TOLD THE TECHNICIAN RETESTED VEHICLE OPERATION, THAT THE TRACKING WAS OKAY, AND NO FURTHER ACTION WAS REQUIRED. THE MINUTE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS STILL DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT, EXACTLY AS IT HAD BEEN WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THE SECOND TIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT INSPECTION AND FOUND CAMBER SETTINGS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, THEY INSTALLED CAMBER BOLT KITS TO GET SETTINGS INTO SPECS. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THIS TIME, I NOTICED THAT THE PULL SEEMED LESS HARD, AND THE DRIFT TOOK LONGER, BUT IT ULTIMATELY DRIFTED TO THE RIGHT AGAIN. I WENT BACK AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO SAID THAT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ROAD CROWING IS NOW CAUSING THE DRIFT, AND THAT I SHOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO EVALUATE. IF I STILL FEEL THERE IS A PROBLEM, THEY WILL HAVE THE TECHNICIAN TEST DRIVE THE CAR WITH ME PRESENT. *TR

UPDATED 06/06/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOW BEAMS DID NOT PROJECT ADEQUATELY WHEN DRIVING UP AND DOWN HILLS AND DRIVING AROUND CURVES. THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT PROJECTION DECREASED UP TO 50% AND SOMETIMES MORE THAN 50% DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE HILL OR CURVE. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE SHIFTED IN A ROUGH MANNER AND A FENDER LINING WAS REPLACED.

THIS IS FOR A 2012 SONATA. YOUR OPTIONS TO SELECT THIS MAKE AND MODEL ONLY SHOWED 2011 AS THE OPTION YEAR. THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR A 2012. I PURCHASED A 2012 SONATA IN LATE JUNE. TECHNICALLY THIS IS THE SECOND ONE I PURCHASED. I CAN EXPLAIN IT THIS WAY. THE FIRST ONE I BOUGHT HAD A HORRIBLE PULLING ISSUE. IT PULLED RIGHT AGGRESSIVELY. BEFORE I TOOK DELIVERY I TEST DROVE IT AND HAD THE SALESMAN DRIVE WITH ME. EVEN HE SAID, THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NOT RIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP PUT IT IN THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT WITH AN ALIGNMENT. I TEST DROVE IT AGAIN AND IT WAS EVEN WORSE. I REFUSED TO BUY THAT CAR. THEY FOUND ME ANOTHER ONE. AT FIRST IT SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE ON THE TEST DRIVE. I SHOULD HAVE DRIVEN IT MORE THEN A COUPLE BLOCKS. SAME ISSUE AS THE FIRST ONE AFTER I TOOK DELIVERY. THE CAR PULLED AND STILL PULLS RIGHT, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BORDER LINE DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. SO, THE DEALERSHIP TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND WORKED THE CAMBER. IT STILL PULLS NOW IT GOES TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AND IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON LINE. EDMUNDS FORUMS, VARIOUS SONATA COLUMNS, YAHOO FORUMS ETC'THERE ARE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2012 SONATA STEERING. SOME SONATA TECHS SAY IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAD IN 2011 WHEN THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME THIS VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP AND MY FRUSTRATIONS DRIVING IT ARE HIGH. CAR HESITATES UNDER ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING. DOES IT ON ROAD AND FREEWAY. BREAK LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS GOING OUT HAVE TO REPLACE EVERY OTHER WEEK POSSIBLY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH WIRE HARNESS. SHOCKS AND STRUTS STARTED MAKING NOISE RIGHT BEFORE THE 60,000 MILE MARK WEARS OFF TIRE BECAUSE OF IT. CAR STARTED HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS EARLY ON WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AT AROUND 12,000 MILES FOR THE ACCELERATION. BREAK LIGHT PROBLEMS AROUND 60,000 MILES SUSPENSION AROUND THE SAME TIME. HAVE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACE TWICE ON THIS CAR. AND CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AGAIN.
