WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE MY STEERING WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT GETS STUCK IN ONE AND I HAVE TO SNATCHED IT TO POSITION IT RIGHT AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A BULB HAD BLOWN AND THERE WAS AN OVERHEATING ISSUE, WHICH CAUSED A MECHANISM IN THE LIGHT BULB TO MELT. THE LIGHT FIXTURE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
WHENEVER I PUT ON THE INDICATOR AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHT TURNS OFF,I HAVE TO TAP THE SWITCH FOR THE LIGHT TO COME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH IS BAD,MY CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD,HOW CAN THE SWITCH BE BAD WHEN I'M THE ONLY DRIVER, I THINK ITS A FACTORY PROBLEM.THIS IS DANGEROUS WHENEVER I'M DRIVING AT NIGHTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (ROUND ROCK HYUNDAI, 2405 N INTERSTATE 35 FRONTAGE RD, ROUND ROCK, TX 78664), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
KEY REMAINS STUCK IN IGNITION UNTIL BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED. CAR IS IN PARK STEERING WHEEL IS NOT LOCKED AND CAR IS NOT IN MOTION AND TIRES ARE ALIGNED.

MY CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE WHEN THE SUN ROOF SHATTERED. THERE WAS BROKEN GLASS EVERYWHERE. I HAVE A PICTURE BUT I NEED HELP TO SEND. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS VANDALISM, BUT THE ENTIRE GLASS WAS SHATTERED AND THE WAS NO PROJECTILES IN THE AREA.
HEADLIGHTS AND GAUGE CLUSTER LIGHTING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE USING TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AT ANY SPEED CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF INTERIOR(GAUGE)/EXTERIOR LIGHTING AT NIGHT. MILEAGE :28,561...; SEATBELT WARNING FLASHER AND CHIME HAS FAILED. MILEAGE: 29,501. DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, IT NEEDS CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION DUE TO DRIFTING - RIGHT LEFT -- DOESN'T MATTER -- WHEREVER THE ROAD TAKES IT. IT IS MORE PREVALENT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW (3/26/2014). THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 7/9/2016.

4 KUMHO TIRES, ORIGINAL TIRES WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES & 2 YEARS AGE ARE CHIPPING AWAY ON THE TREAD. CONTACTED HYUNDAI & KUMHO & THEY WERE DENYING ANY DEFECTS. THESE TIRES SEEM DEFECTIVE & TREAD SEPARATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED IS POSSIBLE MAKING THEM VERY UNSAFE. THESE TIRES WERE USED ON CITY STREETS & STATE HIGHWAYS ONLY. *TR
I HAVE A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION. THREE TIMES THIS PAST WEEK, MY CAR HAS FAILED TO START. WHEN I PRESS THE BUTTON, ALL OF THE LIGHTS COME ON, BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER AND WHEN TRYING TO PRESS THE BREAK IN CONJUNCTION WITH PRESSING THE PUSH START ENGINE BUTTON, THE BREAK PEDAL IS STIFF AND DOES NOT PRESS DOWNWARD. THE THIRD TIME THIS OCCURRED, I WAS STRANDED FOR 1.5 HOURS. MY BROTHER CAME TO GIVE ME A "JUMP" AS HE THOUGHT IT WAS MY BATTERY ONLY FOR SPARKS TO COME FROM MY BATTERY AND FOR HIS CABLES TO GET SO HOT THAT THEY MELTED. I HAD MY CAR OWED TO ALLEN SAMUEL'S HYUNDAI IN NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX THE NEXT MORNING ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO "RECREATE" THE ISSUE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I ALSO REACHED OUT TO HYUNDAI AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THERE ARE NO RECALLS, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE OR DO NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS, THEN I AM STUCK WITH A LEMON CAR. THE SECOND ISSUE I HAVE BEEN FACING (WHICH HAS BEEN ONGOING) IS THE SENSOR IN MY GAS TANK RECOGNIZES MY TANK AS "FULL" WHEN I FILL UP WITH GAS BUT THIS IS NOT INDICATED ON THE GAS HAND READOUT. AGAIN, THIS WAS BROUGHT TO HYUNDAI'S ATTENTION AND BECAUSE THEY CAN'T "SEE IT", "RECREATE IT" AND THERE ARE NO "RECALLS", THEN THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. AGAIN, THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD AS I MAY THINK I HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF GAS IN MY CAR WHEN IN REALITY I DO NOT. THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT HOME, THE SECOND TIME I WAS AT WORK AND THE LAST TIME (MOST RECENT) I WAS AT A RESTAURANT. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE OF BOTH ISSUES ARE SENSORS WITH THE BREAK THAT CONNECTS IT TO THE PUSH BUTTON AND A SENSOR IN THE TANK THAT CONNECTS IT TO THE GAS HAND. THE GAS HAND ISSUES OCCURS EACH TIME I PUT GAS IN MY CAR.
AT 70 MPH (AND HIGHER SPEEDS AND SOME LOWER) 2014 SONATA WEAVES ALL OVER THE LANE FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER WITH NO DRIVER CONTROL EXCEPT TO KEEP TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HYUNDAI DEALERS ARE DENYING ANY PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH 2011'S WERE RECALLED FOR THIS VERY ISSUE AND 2013'S HAVE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND 2014'S AS WELL.
AS I WAS EXCITING THE FREEWAY I BEGAN TO HEAR A "KNOCKING" SOUND, AS I MADE THE TURN ON TO THE STREET THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD CAME ON. SINCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR AND AFTER INITIALLY STARTING UP IT THEN ABRUPTLY TURN OFF ONCE AGAIN ABOUT 20 SECONDS LATER. AT THIS POINT I MANAGAGED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT WITH THE LEFT OVER MOMENTUM. HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE NEWREST HYUNDAI DEALER. AFTER THEY INSPECTED IT, THEY DETERMINED MY CRANKSHAFT HAD SEIZED AND 2 AND HALF WEEKS LATER HERE I AM STILL WAITING FOR AN ENGINE THEY SAY IS ON BACKORDER.
CAR HAS JUST OVER 30,000 MILES ON IT. STARTED SHAKING WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IT. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN 15 MINUTES. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE ENGINE BLEW AND THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN IT. OIL WAS CHANGED REGULARLY AND NO OIL PRESSURE NOTIFICATION INDICATED LOW OIL.
WAS ON HIGHWAY NORTH GA WHEN I TRIED TO PASS SOMEONE AND THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALERTS HIP TORE THE ENGINE DOWN TO FIND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL PAN ALSO SCARRING ON THE LIFTERS AND VALVES THIS IS 2014 SONATA WITH 107,000 MILES. I WAS ALSO MADE AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS ACURED IN EARLIER MODELS. HYUNDAI IS REPLACING MY ENGINE WITH A NEW ONE ALSO HAVE A LOANER CAR WHILE MINE IS BEING REPAIRED

THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY TURN ON THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED IN WRITING FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER DID NOT NOTIFY THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V568000 (ENGINE) AND 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT END FELL TO THE GROUND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
HESITATION AND DELAYS IN ACCELERATION WHEN DRIVING FROM 0 - 30 MPH. ORIGINALLY IT STARTED WITH THE RPMS DROPPING WAY DOWN BEFORE CATCHING. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY REPLACED A BRAKE SENSOR. THE PROBLEM BECAME MUCH WORSE. WHEN REACHING 30 MPH THE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND HAD A PROBLEM CATCHING. RPMS JUMPED WAY UP TO 4 AND REVVED 3 TIMES BEFORE CATCHING. LEAVING ME UNABLE TO HAVE CONTROL OVER THE CAR. VERY SCARY. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A WEEK AND WILL NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN DRIVEN BY THE MECHANICS AND IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THIS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM BEING TOLD TO BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING IS CITY DRIVING. MY COMMUTE TO WORK IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ROUND TRIP, 5 DAYS A WEEK AND SEEMED TO GET WORSE IN THE RAIN.
ON MARCH 3, 2016 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WAS HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BY ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE. THE OTHER DRIVER CROSSED THE STREET FROM ONE PARKING LOT TO THE OTHER AND THAT IS WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS HIT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND THE VEHICLE THAT HIT MY VEHICLE WAS ALSO IN MOTION. L WILL NOT BE SUPPLYING ANY REPORTS SUCH AS POLICE REPORTS. I WOULD LIKE TO EMAIL IT ALONG WITH ANY OTHER DOCUMENTATION YOU REQUIRE. PLEASE ADVISE IF THIS IS ALL RIGHT TO DO AND WHAT EMAIL ADDRESS TO SEND IT TO AND IF THERE IS A REFERENCE NUMBER. I HEARD A GRINDING ENGINE NOISE FROM THE CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO ASK WHAT THE TERRRIBLE SOUND WAS, I WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER PULLED A "INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE" CODE AND IT WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD A RECALL ON EARLIER MODELS BUT NOT THE YEAR 2014. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, METALLIC FLAKES WERE FOUND UPON INVESTIGATION AT HYUNDAI. I WAS TOLD IF THE CAR CONTINUED TO BE DRIVEN IT HAD A HIGH RISK OF SEIZING UP DURING USE WHICH WOULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS RECALLED THEN LATER TOLD THAT YEAR 2014 HAD NOT YET BEEN RECALLED, BUT THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS NOW AND ARE STATING I NEED TO CALL THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY AND NOTIFY THEM OF THE SITUATION TO ENCOURAGE A RECALL.
HAD A NEAR DEATH INCIDENT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN THE CAR LOST TOTAL CONTROL, HYDRO-PLANED FROM THE 2ND TO LEFT LANE AND HIT THE CEMENT BARRICADE ON THE LEFT AND IN THE PROCESS THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES AND WITH THAT IMPACT, RICOCHETED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER OF A 4-LANE FREEWAY BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. FREEWAY IS 280 S (SAN FRANCISCO TO SAN JOSE). LOCATION WAS PALO ALTO, JUST A FEW MILES AFTER SAND HILL RD EXIT (MENLO PARK) WHERE THE FREEWAY IS JUST STRAIGHT FOR MILES WITHOUT ANY STEEP CURVES. HAVE DRIVEN SO MANY OTHER BRANDS OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS IN HEAVY RAIN ON THE SAME FREEWAY WITHOUT AN INCIDENT. THE CAR CANNOT HANDLE FREEWAY SPEEDS AND BECAME VERY UNSTABLE. COULD BE DEFECTIVE TIRES, THEIR TECHNOLOGY CONTROLLING THE WET TRACTION WHICH CAUSED HYDROPLANING ETC FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS IN PROXIMITY ELSE COULD HAVE BEEN A BIGGER ACCIDENT.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS FOG BADLY IN COLD WEATHER. DEFROSTER HAS TO BE RUN ON HIGH CONSTANTLY BUT STILL CLEARS ONLY ABOUT 1/4 OF WINDOWS. THE FIRST 10 OR 15 MINUTES IT HAS NO EFFECT. I HAVE TO SCRAPE ICE OFF INSIDE OF WINDOWS(1 OCCUPANT SO NOT THAT MUCH BREATHING GOING ON)YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO LOWER YOUR WINDOWS IN ORDER TO SEE CROSS STREETS IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES. DEALER BLED THE SYSTEM- HELPED A SMALL AMOUNT. DEALER CLAIMS EVERYTHING WORKS FINE! VERY UNSAFE. 2 WINTERS OF THIS SO FAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. CAR IS STILL OPERATING OK BUT THE ENGINE MAKES A NOTICEABLE METALLIC CLATTERING NOISE AT ALL TIMES.
BRAKES FAIL TO DEPRESS DURING ATTEMPTS TO START CAR, OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE PER DAY. OCCASIONALLY, WHEN PARKING CAR, PARK POSITION DOES NOT REGISTER AND ALARMS SOUND WHEN YOU TRY TO LOCK CAR. OCCASIONAL TRANSMISSION SLIP DURING STOP AND GO TYPE TRAFFIC CONDITIONS.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE HAD AN IDLE TIMER THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHEN IDLING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND THE PHYSICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTACT HAD CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. APPROXIMATELY 4 PM ON AUGUST 24, 2015 DRIVING MY 2014 SONATA LIMITED WITH 11450 MILES ONTO THE LOCAL FREEWAY ON RAMP, CAR STALLED AND TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING OCCURRED. I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SIDE AND AVOID POSSIBLE COLLISION FROM BEHIND. HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, AND WAS DRIVING NORMAL FOR THE CLEAR ROAD DRIVING. WEATHER WAS GOOD, CLEAR AND SUNNY, UPPER 80F. TRAFFIC WAS STARTING TO BUILD FOR RUSH HOUR AND HAD THIS OCCURRED 5 MINUTES LATER MAJOR COLLISION WOULD HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION ON FREEWAY DURING THAT TIME. AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE IT FELT AS IF I HAD A FLAT TIRE WITH THE FRONT WHEELS WANTING TO TURN IN DIRECTION OF WEAKER TIRE SIDE. HYUNDAI BLUELINK ROADSIDE ASSISTANT THEN CALLED AND SUMMONED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO LOCAL DEALER FOR WARRANTY SERVICE AND REPAIR.
